i don't know how to fully articulate this but it makes me a little sad every time a video essayist or podcaster just Assumes their audience has Obviously Heard About X and doesn't bother to explain who or what that is... like of course not everything's gotta cater To Me but like let's assume i DO live under a rock (or rather: i'm autistic and european) and have never heard of this musician and have no idea what place they hold in popular media. ok thank you please continue with your essay

#i love the podcast you're wrong about a lot. but #there's been so many times i have dearly wished for a very quick summary of Who Or What The Thing They're Actually Talking About is #i gotta put together through context clues if a person was like. a sports person or a musician or. something else #idk. a lot of the time it's just the americacentrism of it all.#sometimes it's tiktokcentrism. someone who's like ok let's discuss this hotly debated topic and it's something that's completely #unheard of outside of That Particular Sphere #i mean i suppose a lot of posts i write also refer to a whole lotta stuff people have never heard of #but i also don't assume my audience to be familiar with obcure references to norwegian tv shows or whatever
