Something something something the processing of film editing means every piece of 1D footage used was a deliberate choice to tell the story Louis wants to tell, both to punctuate what he is narrating and also to tell its own visual story.

#the worst part of editing is 100% cataloguing every fucking part of the raw footage you’re gonna use #I cannot emphasize how fucking awful and time consuming that job is #but also how much that goes into picking what footage is used #ESPECIALLY in a documentary where you’re using (essentially) archival footage #idk who edited the film but Charlie didn’t shoot the 1D footage #no one working on this film did I’m guessing #which means it HAD to be watched #it HAD to be watched IN ITS ENTIRETY #and decisions were made to pick out #the footage from literally raw fucking footage - completely unedited - was chosen
