Sometimes I imagine them as exes for fun

Cuz i can definitely imagine them crushing on the other and certain things that would draw the other in. In the long term though they're not super compatible or maybe I just like to imagine Ilima as a bit too self centered just for plot lol

I know Ilima is a nice person he's just more. Flowery. In his mannerisms. But what if I hc him to be a bit vain. Maybe he can't help it it's just a part of his nature.

In the games Ilima says he wants to study the planning in pokemon battles. What Kiawe studies is the bonds between people and pokemon, through the physicality of dance. It's more natural and relatable. What Ilima focuses on seems to be more psychological. And given all his qualifications he seems to be really diving into it. I just think he's more analytical and wants to get deeper into the workings of things to bolster his competence and intellect.

Over time they may be on different wavelengths. Ilima probbaly needs some attention and slips into conversations centered on him. He'd constantly need to know what Kiawe thinks of him and what he's up to. Not in an intentionally overbearing way but it's just his character. He uses his phone a lot. Kiawe doesn't have the time to update someone so much. He doesn't think so deeply into such domain of things. It's not necessary. Like Ilima would lay out battle plans to figure out a superior way and Kiawe thinks "just do what feels natural to the pokemon and you as a pair" I KNOWW Ilima is a nice caring person too I just think he slips into such mindsets. Idk. In canon his mom is an actress he also acts sometimes. He's raised to pay attention to appearances. Idk lolol

Kiawe would initially be attracted to his acting as an art form too (like his dancing), and think Ilima is cute. Ilima flirts with kiawe. Hahahaha. OHHHH BUT THEY CANT MEET OFTEN BECUZ THEYRE ON DIFFERENT ISLANDS. Yeah in the long run they just don't have the time for each other. Conversations don't fall naturally into the same pool of things.

But with Wren kiawe doesn't need to attempt to keep up with anything. It comes naturally becuz wren converses in response and in tune with kiawe. They talk about the same things. Have passions that are also relatable to the average person: dancing as an art to reveal cultures and bonds, and conservation as preserving nature for people to love. Not battle planning with psychological mental gymnastics the average person doesn't concern themself with in their daily life. Sorry I'm being so mean to Ilima he's not that bad I just like to add plot to kiawren they're too peaceful lol.

Also Ilima talks too flowery bro. But me and Kiawe are both awkward. Man I talk so awkward and random sometimes. My sister keeps noting it.

Anyway I think it'd make kiawe more reserved to liking anyone else and considering dating wren after the Ilima thing. He doesn't have time for anyone. HE IS SO BUSY. but wren doesn't need kiawe's extra time. They don't need him to go shopping with him or go to melemele to watch his mom's show. Wren weaves his time spent with Kiawe into kiawe's schedule he's already so busy. And they're on the same damn island. Wren meets kiawe at the volcano while he rests before his night job. Meets him at the farm during his chores to help out and talk to him. They don't have to go anywhere else unless in their free time.

Also I know Ilima takes too many damn selfies and kiawe doesn't know wtf to do when someone wants him in their photo.

Also wren asks a lot abour kiawe's life (he's obsessed with him just plays it off well) but Ilima tends to go off track into his own life.

Anyway I just think making Ilima self centered but trying to be generous is okay and good for his character depth. He also means well it's jusg his nature to think vainly sometimes.

It's even better to imagine Ilima and wren on good terms becuz Ilima helps him with research and fieldwork. He recommends the best resources in the library and fieldwork methodologies in the context of alolan society. That's why they do spend some time together. It's eveeenn funnier to imagine Ilima starting to crush on wren cuz they give him a lot of attention and is funny. I think my humour would be understood by Ilima more than kiawe. But it still wouldn't work. Alas my heart is taken by the boy on the volcano

But anyway kiawe starts to have a thing for boys with long-ish hair. He's a dancer bro he has an eye for aesthetics and objective beauty. Do you think. He needs a boy with long black hair and glasses. 😔

Honestly it's even better to imagine Kiawe and Ilima pining at the time Wren comes to alola. They get together after kiawren befriends each other and wren starts to crush on kiawe. Wren thinks oh well💀 then they break up and kiawe finds lots of comfort in wren. But he doesn't think it's going to amount to love. But Wren sticks around so much and eventually confesses they like him. Maybe kiawe rejects. They move on. But they both continue pining. Hahahahah Put them in Situations.
