Something something forced love and domesticity with a man who doesn't know how to say that that's what he wants

I donā€™t know how to start this so Iā€™m just gonna say it. The ending has hurt me in a way that I never thought it could. After finishing watching the ep, I felt confused and felt like wanting to cry but no tears were coming out. It did it damage and left me struggling w it.
I have watched spn for 6 yrs and I have loved its story, characters and the things it promotes such as free will and family. 2 things that were taken away from me with that ending. To witness how the show that I loved and talked highly of, the show that was there for me in my most difficult yrs, just ended like that, as if it didnā€™t matter. 6 yrs of my life has just been wasted on a show that I thought held the same ideas as me. I feel lost.
Dean- he deserved a life away from hunting, to be w those that love him and he loved in return, he deserved to at least have a say in Casā€™ confession (be it rejection or confessing back), if my bestfriend of 12 yrs confessed his love to me, I wouldnā€™t just not mention it, they deserve an answer. Anyways, this man had been through so much and had done so much and all for good (im not even gonna talk abt how good heā€™s bc Can done it for me). I have expected Dean to have a happy ending ā€“ the bullshit of driving around a car in heaven is not it. I actually wanted, needed, him to have a happy life/ending, bc if he got a happy life, then I can too, right? To see his character be destroyed like that, hurts on other levels. Saying that this is the expected ending for Dean, goes against everything that this character was built with and against everything that went down this season, as well as the disrespect of killing him after a short time from Casā€™ sacrificing himself for him. His death was not a freewill, idk what it was except for stupid and built with nonsense.
Castiel- my angel, oh how much I loved him. the only character I have ever loved and resonated with. The character that I, and others, believed to be an ace had helped me accept myself and whatever feelings I felt in general. The character that that loving someone despite the awful situation, the gender, and everything, was okay. Cas deserved to hear Deanā€™s response to his confession, unrequited love hurts and I donā€™t want him be more in more pain (thatā€™s if heā€™s out of the empty, if heā€™s not, well more pain I guess). To see my beloved angel be treated like that all those yrs I had to bear, but now he didnā€™t even make it to the finale? Iā€™m furious.
But I do have a question during this entire season that Iā€™m yet waiting for an answer. What was the point of mentioning Casā€™ failing powers if we doing nothing about it? Thereā€™re so much plot holes that even Chuck cannot cover this time.
Sam- we deserved to see him happy w those he loved and cared for, we deserved to see him with Eileen and not with someone that I couldnā€™t see making me think I need my glasses to see her. That whole thing w his son is a no from me, it just didnā€™t make sone. Also, Sam deserved a better wig. They couldā€™ve made Jared wear a clown wig and I wouldnā€™t have noticed of how of a mess that finale was.
Jack and boysā€™ family- they deserved to at least have someone check if they are back, to at least be mentioned. For those that died, they deserved to be shown in Deanā€™s heaven (john didnā€™t even deserve to be mentioned!). Jack deserved, from the beginning, to have someone teaching him about his powers, to guide him on how to control it and use it. And heā€™s 3 yrs old!! He deserved to at least guide Dean through his heaven! Eileen deserved better, but the show didnā€™t deserve such a wonderful character.
I canā€™t believe that shitty ending has made my eyes be filled with tears as I write this. My expectations were low but the ending went lower, they even went lower than my grade for math in hsc exam. I would love to say goodbye to this show, but it didnā€™t deserve to be bid farewell to it like that. Shit, I was even thinking about re-watching the show, but I canā€™t after that ending. Iā€™m not even gonna talk about how dirty they did us with destiel ā€“ they both deserved better than that, we deserved better!
So no, Dabb and whoever else can take that finale, dip it in water and drink it (or as that Arabic saying wouldā€™ve been. I swear it sounds better in Arabic/ a polite alternative to say ā€˜shove that up your assā€™).
Ā  Also, I watched the finale with my cousin that have never watched or heard of spn and we had a good laugh when Dean took, what felt like, 76 years of just driving around the impala. But here are few things that she mentioned during the ep that I found kinda interesting:
She mentioned how the quality was shit by saying that it felt as if she was watching an old movie.
Laughed on how the ep was basically with only 2 dudes acting (donā€™t they have other actors/actresses?)
How long it took for Dean to die from that nail to the point both of us just busted out laughing (especially when Sam let out that cry lol, tf was that?)
How a car made it to heaven was funny and stupid
How we couldā€™ve written a better ending
She ended up saying that if she was one of us, she wouldā€™ve hated the writers
Anyways, Iā€™m hurt by this ending. I totally understand why Jensen didnā€™t like it, especially with how they ended Deanā€™s arc. I guess the only good things I got from the ep were a shirtless Winchester and Miracle (shit, we didnā€™t even see the dog in heaven or anywhere afterwards). I hope everyone is doing much better than I am, and I guess this is the time where I stop recommending spn to others since that ending is not worth it.
Thank you Misha and Jensen, you truly deserved better for all the hard work and sweat youā€™ve put into those characters. Hope future projects of theirs or the ones we, the fans, decided to watch, would not repeat such a terrible ending.

Well... this is late. Several weeks late at that. Stupid life getting in the way. Anyways, yeah due to sickness, dog sickness, the holidays, and everything in between I am three chapters behind on reviews. I am going to do what I can to catch back up before Saturday, starting now. Also since I am behind, this and the next review wonā€™t include a Predictions section since... well, thatā€™s pretty pointless now. On the upside, the wait has given me plenty to think over regarding the past few episodes and get my thoughts sorted out.
So last week we had the team splitting up, Ironwood shooting a man in cold-blood, and Salem sending her Grimm... thing to capture Oscar. A tense, but very well done setup for the volume. So with the tension and stakes already this high, whatā€™s going to happen next? Well... we already know, but letā€™s talk about it anyways.
Tumblr media
We begin in the Atlas prison, where Qrow, Robyn, Watts, and Jacques are being held. Robyn is understandably pissed off at everything that happened, Jacques tries to shift his blame (even using the famousĀ ā€œIā€™m a victim!ā€ quote) but is otherwise confident about Whitley bailing him out, and Watts clearly just doesnā€™t give a damn about anything and is chilling. Qrow however is quiet, merely sitting in the hard light cell and staring at Cloverā€™s badge. Some guards come in and enter Wattsā€™ cell, smacking him with their guns and dragging him out. Qrow also finally talks, having a suggestion on what they can do: kill the man who put them behind bars to begin with. Yeah...Ā
In Mantle, Atlas is reporting on the going-ons before Joanna takes the mic to inform the people of the plan to head for The Crater. Team JYRO make it to Pietroā€™s pharmacy and discover what he left for them: three hoverbikes. Yang is especially overjoyed while Oscar I think has developed a fear of flying things. The four work to get a section of people to The Crater, also facing some Grimm in the process. There is one elderly woman however who is uncooperative, wanting to go up to Atlas and not to the slums with a bunch of Faunus. But Yang properly shuts her up by pointing out how Atlas bailed, clearly deciding that they werenā€™t with while the Faunus are willing to help regardless of if the people deserve it. Yang Xiao Long, Destroyer of Racism.
Tumblr media
Even though the citizens agree to go, itā€™s still rough. Ren uses his semblance to mask everyone with Jaune amping him up. The old woman is still complaining about the conditions. Oscar, driving behind everyone, is frustrated at how people just canā€™t cooperate. Boy is THAT the most relatable scene in the current times. Ozpin takes this moment to try talking to him, even apologizing for abandoning him. But Oscar isnā€™t mad about that, heā€™s mad that Oz came back, especially since after so long he finally felt like his own person. But Oz reminds him that the merger is still on track, to the dismay of both. Ren is also struggling to keep his Semblance powered up and when Jaune tries to give him a pep talk, he snaps that he just needs to focus, clearly upsetting Jaune.
Meanwhile,, RWBNP have been joined by May in their efforts to break into Atlas. Weiss had an idea on how to do so: via the SDCā€™s shipping department that sends Dust up to Atlas via tubes. This includes the military facility. As they look for the correct one, Ruby goes to Penny who is understandably upset by whatā€™s happening. Ruby tries to console her regarding the argument with Yang, but Penny is actually hurt by Winter, Ironwood, and the others fighting against them as they were their friends. She also feels guilty as she is now even more than just the Protector of Mantle and is still clearly hurt by ironwoodā€™s words last chapter. Ruby assures her that Ironwood was only trying to hurt her and that they are doing good. It helps some, but not to the extent that weā€™d normally see. The good news is that they found the tube... and Nora promptly shoots Weiss up it. Whoops.
Tumblr media
Back in Mantle, Fiona has taken over coordinating the evacuations with May gone. JYRO returns with their group, with Fiona and Joanna impressed. Fiona comments that she was concerned due to half their team being gone, which clearly upsets the four. SO much so that Ren walks off in a huff and Yang gets defensive about how they clearly were able to handle it. The Faunus welcome the refugees and the Happy Huntresses and others are doing their best to get everyone settled. We earn see Fionaā€™s uncle, who was the man who gave Oscar soup last chapter. A call comes in about a Grimm attack, so Team JYRO go to deal with it. It goes well at first, but more Grimm begin to come in... at least, that is, until they suddenly retreat. Much to the confusion of the others.
Before anyone can contemplate on it, the Grimm from last time that we now know is called The Hound attacks Oscar. It very quickly grabs him, beats him up to the point of breaking his Aura, and knocks him out. Yang tries to help, but to her shock The Hound uses Oscar as a human shield. It easily faces Jaune and Ren as well, with all of them confused as the Grimm are usually not this smart. Ren demands The Hound release Oscar... but to the groupā€™s utter horror the Hound saysĀ ā€œNā€. yeah, you read that right. The Hound talked. It gets worse as it sprouts wings, the black ooze landing on Oscar as the Houndā€™s whole body contorts in a gruesome matter. It grabs Oscar and flies off. JYR are all understandably shocked, but give chase as the episode ends.
Review
Tumblr media
Two chapters in, and already things have goneĀ to Hell. At least Volume 6 gave them one triumphant moment in Chapter 1 before piling on theĀ ā€˜Oh Crapā€™. This volume is holding back zero punches people... and IĀ love it!
This is a natural follow-up to the premiere and was paced very well. It covers both the things we didnā€™t see last time, and shows us the progress of the events set in motion. We see what has happened to Robyn and Qrow. We see how the evacuations are being handled. We have both sets of heroes well underway of their objectives. And of course we have The Hound succeeding in capturing Oscar. Itā€™s a lot of things, but nothing felt rushed or crammed in just for the sake of getting it over with. It all felt natural and exactly what we needed to see. Like I said, holding back zero punches.
Tumblr media
One thing I really enjoyed about this is seeing more of the Happy Huntresses. Probably one criticism I have about Volume 7 is how only Robyn, and to a lesser degree Fiona, got any real characterization of the group. We saw they were effective, but otherwise Robynā€™s companions just kind of... existed. But now with her in jail, it allows the three to really shine. Joanna is a no-nonsense woman more or less now taking charge, but also friendly to her companions as we saw with her complimenting Fiona. May is sassy and confident as well as quite useful with her Invisibility Semblance, and itā€™s real cool to see her teaming up with RWBNP. We already know that Fiona is a cutie, but we see how sheā€™s organizing the masses and more or less coordinating settling people in, which as we learn sheā€™s from the slums makes sense. Iā€™ve really enjoyed seeing more of these three, and it really helps make them feel like actual characters and not just there to fill out Robynā€™s team.
Speaking of Robyn, we have the prison scene, and itā€™s as glorious as I was hoping. Her telling off Jacques for his part in all of this was perfection. Of course Jacques tries to shift blame, but still. Watts not giving a single damn about anything was also freakinā€™ great. But then thereā€™s Qrow... oh golly Qrow. As expected, e\heā€™s not doing okay due to Clover dying but... him wanting t kill Ironwood makes me... worried. Oh donā€™t get me wrong, with the path heā€™s heading Ironwood dying is probably going to be necessary. IDK if I necessarily want it, but I canā€™t say he hasnā€™t brought it upon himself. I just donā€™t think that would do Qrow any good at all, especially because it would be out of revenge and not for the good of Mantle or Remnant. Itā€™s him slipping into that Branwen bandit mentality, and that is NOT a path that will lead him anywhere good. Iā€™m worried, but hopefully whatever happens will do good for Qrow and his mental state.
Tumblr media
Then we have Team JYRO and Team RWBNP. First, it was really nice to have some humor in this one. While everything is super tense, we really need some levity so it doesnā€™t become overly depressing, RWBY loves feels, but itā€™s never been one to go grimdark and serious every waking moment either. I mean gosh, Weiss getting sucked up the tube in and of itself is one of the funniest scenes theyā€™ve had in a while, especially with Kara Eberleā€™s perfect high-pitched scream and Noraā€™s reaction. Moments like Blake teasing Weiss about her family owning everything, Yangā€™s reaction to he bikes, Oscar likely never wanting to fly again after riding with Yang al made me giggle and was a nice break from the tension, especially when the end brought it roaring back.
But at the same time, itā€™s clear that the tension is very much there. We see how defensive Yang gets with Fionaā€™s comment, and how bitter Nora is about her disagreement with Ren. Speaking of Ren, we see how heā€™s more snappy and closed off heā€™s becoming, the seeds planted last volume now coming into bloom. Despite how evacuations are going smoothly so far, the sense of looming doom and desperation is very much present. The Grimm horde is unrelenting and the people are scared, upset, and uncooperative. Yeah, despite the situation, we see an old woman unable to but her biases aside and just complains about the slums instead of being in the more cushiony Atlas, who as Yang points out, left them for dead. And the woman STILL complains during the trek to the slums. Needless to say especially after this year, Oscarā€™s annoyance is VERY understandable.Ā
Tumblr media
But speaking of Oscar, we see a lot of parallels with him and Penny here. Both are struggling with their sense of identity and self-worth. Both are now something greater than they ever imagined, but struggling with the sense of responsibility and what it means for them. Oscar finally began to feel like his own person again. He felt like he was crating his own identity and like he was finally being seen as well... him. And I agree, especially since I had complained before how it felt like Oscar didnā€™t have an identify up to last volume. Penny of course is struggling with her feelings and wanting to be seen as a real girl. How the people she trusted like Ironwood and Winter have turned on them and personally hurt her. How sheā€™s now the Winter Maiden and not just the Protector of Mantle and worried that sheā€™s hurting more people than helping, especially since she now has the responsibility of protecting everyone.Ā
Sadly. things arenā€™t going their way. Oscar is still on the track of merging with Ozpin, and has no idea who heā€™ll be at the end of it. Penny is a Maiden, burden with tremendous responsibility that will not only prevent her form doing what she wants. but continue to restrict her identity. Itā€™s just... sad when you think about it. These are two kids who just want to have their lives, but they canā€™t and itā€™s all due to circumstances beyond their control. Oscar got zero say in bonding with Ozpin and had to abandon his life for the greater good. Penny had to take the Maiden powers to keep it away from Cinder. Seeing them both lament on this is just... heartbreaking. But at least Penny has Ruby to comfort her. Sure it doesnā€™t help too much, but Ruby is still there as support. Oscar has no one but Ozpin, and he canā€™t really do much to help the kid at this point. Oscar has to burden it alone, and thatā€™s especially true when we get to the end.
Tumblr media
That brings us to The Hound. So... I freakinā€™ love this monster, even though it terrifies me. It is legit creepy. The way it contorts and shifts itā€™s body, that gross lack goo oozing all over like blood. It hasnā€™t topped The Apathy for ā€˜Scariest Grimmā€™, but itā€™s certainly up there. But whatā€™s even scarier is that it is intelligent. Now we know that Grimm CAN be smart, Oobleck gave us a whole lesson on it in Volume 2. But weā€™ve never, EVE R seen a Grimm this intelligent before. Not only did it throw JYR off by using Oscar deliberately as a shield, but if you look closely you can see it in other shots clearly watching Oscar. It was on the hunt, watching and observing until the moment to strike came. And, of course, it was able to talk. While IDT Jason Liebrecht doing the voice is as significant as others say (likely they wanted to distinguish from William Orendorffā€™s voice and Jason was available, it has nothing to do with Qrow), the fact that a Grimm who isnā€™t Salem can talk, even if briefly, is horrifying.
There have been a lot of theories going around since the episode aired. Many believe that the Grimm used to be human, which I agree with. The most popular candidate for who is Summer... which Iā€™m more mixed about. On the one hand, it just feels unnecessarily cruel especially to Ruby and I personally am not 10% sure if Iā€™d like that happening. On the other hand it would be a horrifying tragic twist that would greatly affect Ruby (not to mention Yang and the remains of Team STRQ) and raise a LOT of questions about what happened in between Summerā€™sĀ ā€˜deathā€™ and now. Still Iā€™m not fully convinced itā€™s her. nut Iā€™m not fully against it depending on how itā€™s played out. But I do agree that it is most likely a former human, and considering Cinder is a human well on her way on becoming a Grimm... yeah...
Chapter Stats
Tumblr media
Favorite Character: Happy Huntresses Favorite Scene: The Hound vs. Team JYRO Least Favorite Scene: Umm... IDK, the Atlas reporter maybe? Favorite Voice Actor: Kdin Jenzen (May Marigold) Favorite Animation: The Houndā€™s contorting body Rating: 9.9/10
Final Thoughts
Tumblr media
It was a tough job following up the premiere, but this chapter succeeded in keeping everything on track. It as funny, it was insightful, it was scary, it was... everything! The stakes continue to feel high, yet nothing feels forced or rushed. We have good glimpses at certain characters mindsets, the plot is continuing to push forward, the dead is strong yet still has room of some fun stuff, and the end fight is both awesome and sets up a LOT of tension as we continue forward. Like i said, the volume is not holding back. Iā€™m still terrified about everything upcoming, but if the volume continues with this kind of quality (which having seen 3 and 4 I know they are), then we are in for one Hell of a fantastic volume~

Here's a random question for you: I know you're a big (the biggest) proponent of Scanny, but if you had to pick someone else for Danny to have a relationship with, who would it be?
I actually have thought about this! Honestly, my go to after Scott for Danny is Mason, because the younger characters are literally only two years younger than the original characters even if it seemed otherwise a lot of the time. And so given that we never saw Danny and Mason interact due to the wholeĀ ā€˜oh sure, he totally graduated offscreen a year early just in time to not be around for the season that revolved entirely around his specific expertise aka hackingā€™ nonsense....I can easily imagine a few years in the future, Danny and Mason meet in college or grad school or somewhere theyā€™re on even footing and learn they have mutual friends/experiences/knowledge in common and from there grow into a friendship and also maybe then theyā€™re boyfriends and then husbands and then dads and then grandpas and happily ever after yada yada.
Meanwhile, if Danny encountered Liam at any age, I feel like he would just be like:Ā ā€œNo.ā€ And then wave his hand around in Liamā€™s direction in a circle like to encompass all of him, as heā€™s all.Ā ā€œAll of this is just exhausting, whatever it is. I am too old and too tired to deal with this....vibe youā€™re emitting.ā€
LOL I canā€™t explain it, like Liam and Mason have entirely different energies and I feel that age isnā€™t even a factor as to why Danny would just not at all have patience for Liam. Like, I donā€™t think heā€™d DISLIKE him exactly, so much as just....ā€™Iā€™m going to be over here, and youā€™re going to stay over there, and I just think thatā€™ll be best for everyone and weā€™ll all get along great that way.ā€
Hmm, who else. Controversial I guess, but I actually did kinda like Dethan, waaaay back at the very beginning of it, before that very same season crapped all over any real potential it or even the twins at all had in the show. Given that Iā€™m fine with them and even like them in AUs or fics that diverge before they had anything to do with Boydā€™s death, but if thatā€™s at all in canon for a story, I have no interest in them as anything other than cannon fodder. Which letā€™s be real, you always kinda have a need for in TW stories.Ā
But initially, I REALLY REALLY liked the fact that there was this (at the time) mysterious new character that was there for DANNY, like, deliberately seeking him out because of real or suspected significance....I was all for that, because I was like yes, excellent, clearly this means they have plans to focus more on Danny and bring him into the core group eventually and also obviously Dannyā€™s gonna turn this guy away from the Dark Side and make him betray his pack of overcompensating losers for Danny and the power of LOVE because who doesnā€™t love that trope, am I right? Its all so clearly laid out!
Ahhh, to be that dumb again.
Anyway, so in AUs or early canon-divergent fics, I can be all for Danny and a better, more fleshed out and non-jackass depiction of Ethan. But by the time Ethan returns in actual canon, the fact that heā€™s with Jackson just irritates me in aĀ ā€˜hooking up with your exā€™s best friend is a jerk move and we get it, show, you donā€™t consider Danny important and never did, jfcā€™ kinda way. Beyond that though, Iā€™m just like, Jackson can have him at that point, they deserve each other, go Team Jerkwad.
I donā€™t see Theo and Danny ever happening because I like to think that Dannyā€™s view on scheming, ambitious and boundary-breaking friends with possible homicidal inclinations has changed since Jackson and Ethanā€™s presences in his life, and heā€™s like.....ā€Nah, Iā€™m not doing that again. Two of that type are enough for me, and Iā€™m kinda always gonna put up with Jackson at this point because...look, I had my reasons probably, just because I canā€™t remember the basis of our friendship now, like....just back off, okay?ā€
Just saying, I donā€™t think heā€™d inherently hate Theo if Theoā€™s story happens in an AU kinda way where he doesnā€™t murder and betray his way through the showā€™s social hierarchy, lol, but Danny would still just be likeĀ ā€œLook, whatever your issues are dude, Iā€™m not trying to judge you for them if you donā€™t make me, but like, go put in some you-time offstage and then maybe we can talk. I am not emotionally equipped to put up with the schemes of yet another person whose whole thing seems to be ā€˜am I good or bad, you decide, because I sure as hell canā€™t.ā€™ I donā€™t care how big your biceps are, that is not going to be a deciding factor for me, not this time, no sir, I have learned from my mistakes, I have had hashtag Growth, and you need to go now, and also please put on a shirt. I SAID GOOD DAY, SIR!ā€
Danny and Stiles is Lol Thatā€™s A No For Me, of course, Danny and Boyd I would be totally down for and can picture them being like, a snark queen power couple who hang back and watch all the drama unfold around them while providing entertaining commentary back and forth to each other but otherwise act like theyā€™re not even there, and when someone annoyed by their running commentary finally snaps and goesĀ ā€œWhy are you two even here?ā€ like, I can so picture Danny and Boyd just blinking slowly and looking at them, then at each other, then back at them as if confused by the question.Ā
ā€œItā€™s Date Night,ā€ Danny says slowly, in the tone reserved for being asked to solve the equation on the board thatā€™s already got the answer written out right there.
ā€œOkay, fine. But why are you HERE, then? If its your Date Night, like.....go have your date then. Catch a movie. Its all good, we donā€™t need you guys here at the moment.ā€
Boyd squints at them.Ā ā€œThis IS our date. Whoppers?ā€
The latter is directed to Danny, as Boyd extends the box of candy towards him.
ā€œYes please,ā€ Danny says, reaching for a handful.
Exasperated sighs are heard all around the room.
LOL anyway....who else....Jackson tends to be a no for me too, not for any real reason beyond like....Iā€™ve read too many fics where theyā€™re essentially treated as the Mirror Universe version of S/ciles, and you KNOW how I feel about that ship, so like, all even dubiously associated ships are by mere proxy also noped by me. *Shrugs*
Which mostly just leaves Isaac, and....idk, tbh. Iā€™m not inherently opposed to them, and Iā€™ve actually even read a couple of fairly long-ish and pretty enjoyable Danny/Isaac fics. But enjoyable in the sense of like....just as their own thing, a fun romance set in the TW setting/universe, between Danny and an Isaac-shaped woobiewolf. As the few Danny/Isaac fics Iā€™ve found over the years tend to suffer from the exact same thing thatā€™s always kept me from really ever getting into Scott and Isaac as a couple in anything other than theory...
Like, in the fics Iā€™ve tried, I always tend to run into the same tendency to just....sand down all of Isaacā€™s rough edges and make him this shy, insecure, soft boy who is withdrawn until Danny or Scott bring him out of his shell....even when its based on the events of the show and Isaacā€™s already been turned into his leather jacket-wearing, snark-wielding, deliberately apathetic werewolfsona.Ā
And thatā€™s just...not Isaac to me? So if I treat him as an original character basically, I can enjoy those stories, and do, just because thereā€™s sooooo little Danny-centric fic that awhile back, I absolutely spent a good year or so making sure like, I found every last scrap of it, lol. I went spelunking in some deep, dark places in search of even a little spotlight time for Danny, because He Deserved Better and I was willing to put up with a lot to see him get even a little (except for like, blatant and unavoidable Scott hate being front and center in the fic as well. Then I exited with rapidity. I love Danny, but not even for him can I stomach that).
But yeah, otherwise, I very very rarely found a lot of Isaac fics, no matter who he was paired with, where he wasnā€™t like....constantly soft and vulnerable and the focus of Scott or Danny or whomever elseā€™s regular attempts to comfort and protect him. Which I mean, I love Isaac, and Iā€™m always projecting onto abuse survivors in fiction even if just a little bit, so its not that I object to the comfort and desire to protect him parts, just the sheer unevenness that tends to be present in his dynamics as well. Iā€™ve always said that for me, the true theme of TW was survivor empowerment, that all of these kids had been hurt and exploited and traumatized in various ways and they all struggled individually and together to find ways to cope and to heal, and also to feel empowered enough to protect THEMSELVES from whatever or whomever tried to hurt them again in the future.Ā
And thatā€™s the element that so often is missing from Isaacā€™s arc in fics, IMO...any hint of the character who he spent a lot of time and effort growing into on the show. Evolving first into a character who reveled in the power heā€™d been given and that made him feel safe and strong for the first time in his life, to the point where he was quite frankly an asshole a lot of the time.Ā
But then from there he grew into a character who came to terms with the reality that as his own power grew, so did the power of the new tormentors he was now often in conflict with, due to the source of his newfound strength...and his strength and brutality and apathy were not at all the tools able to help him find true protection and recovery in his new world. They just werenā€™t going to get the job done, and thatā€™s when he started to let Scottā€™s example sink in and take his lead from that, finding the power and strength in committing himself more to others, becoming more of an active participant rather than just a spectator or a henchman who needed orders before acting.....allowing himself to be vulnerable in exchange for the benefits being more open to others afforded him.
Isaacā€™s growth onscreen from season to season was the very thing that made him so interesting and enjoyable to me....as well as how his bond with Scott did the same thing....so when the former isnā€™t really present in fics, even the presence of the latter doesnā€™t really do a whole lot for me. And its the same thing in the Danny/Isaac fics I read, so yeah. There for it in theory, but the execution Iā€™ve found has never done anything to make it any more compelling a ship possibility than any other random ship.
I think thatā€™s pretty much everyone though? Well I mean like, thereā€™s Corey, but I donā€™t have strong feelings about that possibility one way or another. And thereā€™s Derek, given the wholeĀ ā€˜Miguelā€™ thing in S1, but you know me, even in future/aged-up settings, I still tend to be ā€˜what if Derek dated people his own damn age tho, like just for the sheer novelty, letā€™s explore that some moreā€™.....not to mention that as the show progressed, the more fandom hated on Braeden and her relationship with Derek, the more I spite-shipped them. To the extent that now I find it hard to picture even AUs where theyā€™re not endgame, or if Derek HAS to be in another ship for some reason, then they still were a super serious relationship before the fic and thereā€™s always that hint of her being the one that got away, kinda.Ā
*Shrugs* What can I say? The enemy ship of my enemy is my OTP. The Art of War, fandom style. I have no problem admitting it, lolol.
But yeah, thatā€™s all of them I think now.

The Desolate Winds
Lewyn isn't necessarily my all time favorite from Genealogy, but he's at least probably one of my more preferred for kink stuff at least. Writing kink stuff about Jugdral is still extremely hard with how fucked up the setting is without just overhauling key components. So this definitely took a long time but I just want to write for the older games so I forced myself. And didn't take the easy way out with just using FEH
Also, gen 2 Lewyn is a bit of a mystery since his actual self is left to interpretation. But I think this kinda fit him? Even though it's very headcanony. It's also based on the way FGO does pseudo servants, where the servant is a mixture of the Divine being and also the person their possessing. Cause otherwise, it's very bitter and pissed off and cynical gen2 Lewyn which doesn't necessarily lend well to weight gain stuff.
This is way too nonkink, but oh well, it's at least a change of pace for everyone lol. Also, I love repetition cause I'm basic and a low level writer who shoves it in your face.
And, this is an absolute trainwreck ajshenks. But it's at least a trainweck I can enjoy. If you like it, great! If not, oh well. I just straight up have so much trouble writing about Jugdral in a non au sense. Plus, I got kinda tired of kink so it's literally just a couple of lines ajsnekss
I also forgot a title when I first published this ajsnsks was originally "idk title" and I still dislike coming up with titles and being all fake deep
_____
Spotting the town on the horizon once more, Lewyn sets his sight on it. Snow crunching under his boots, he tugs at his clothes as he wipes the smears of blood on his face. The outfit now snug where once it nearly felt as if would swallow him whole, he had taken up once more the act of traveling.
Having broken their tribe's pact of non-interference, it was best to try and enjoy it as much as he could. And with no more war on the horizon, Naga's power and foresight overcoming Loptous's, that meant he was free to do just that. Forseti having resurrected the Sillesian prince known as Lewyn, the two had become one; their personalities clashing at several times, their mannerisms had left many confused. Impassive and anger would wash away to tears or outbursts, the revelation of their death and nearly everyone else they knew too much for the person known as Lewyn to handle. Too much for any human being to handle. The problems with knowing another being resided in him offered no solace despite them being his savior. How much could he ascertain were his own memories? His own beliefs? His own thoughts? His own life? Everything felt sharper yet duller. Warmer yet colder. Better yet worse.
So he had done the only thing that he knew to do. The one thing that came naturally despite the clouds fogging up his every sense of self.
Run away.
Run away from it all once again. No more shock from different borders. No more shock from finding one more war buddy alive. No more shock from another recognizing him when he could barely recognize himself. "Was this how I acted? Was this how I talked? Was this how I looked?" He would question. Anything he could wonder, he did. And so he fulfilled the duty he felt he owed. He helped fix what Arvis had wronged, the only thing he knew to do upon his revival. And that was that. That was enough for his fill of Jugdral.
On a boat the very next day, he found himself unable to leave fast enough, the home once known to his a lone speck on the horizon as he went wherever the boat took him, Lewyn not even asking.
And as the distance and time grew, life worked its magic on him. It numbed the pain, the confusion, the anger. Self reflection led to self discovery. Memories of a world on the brink and memories of a snowy country organized themselves into different bins. One of Forseti's memories; the other of his own. Memories of traveling, of discovering the world and the plight of its citizens, of recounting stories, of his country, of Silesse. All his own.
And yet, he found himself too weak to return. For Jugdral has no use of him anymore. His own holy blood and weapon passed down and with Loptous gone, there was no place for him. No reason to pick up the thousands of shards that remained, to prick himself and bleed with each one he attempted to repair.
With such a life behind him, no one is going to miss him, for he had lived without a father, surely his offspring could do the same. They could at least thank their grandmother for having only one child, no conniving uncles for them to deal with like he had all his life.
The act of leading indeed far too much, it was simply best for him to leave. No need for an inept prince who had been murdered before he even had the chance. Not with the bitterness and cruelty of the world he had experienced. Jugdral was far better off with idealistic runts. All of them far to reminiscent of their parents. Before they had marched to Belhalla. Nearly all of them burned, skewered or impaled. The memory one he wished he could claim as Forseti's. The memory etched into his mind, having the misfortune to survive and witness it all. Only to be killed despite his pathetic struggling. Perhaps he'd have been better off with the Valkyrie Staff being broken on him. But that was impossible, Claud had been one of the very first. Arvis ensuring Bragi's descendant had been silenced, the power of resurrection and divination too fearful despite his false status as a traitor, political gain the most powerful tool of all.
But none of that was reversible. What had happened, happened. What he had rediscovered was his burden to once more deal with. So he continued to run away. And run even more, all of it merging into one large indistinguishable place. And yet, his sense of concern followed him wherever he ran.
He had first resumed his job as a bard, the ability to recount a multitude of stories with the mess of his memories actually aiding him. But even then that had grown dull. An impassive bystander once more, he grew distasteful of it too. Despite the small growth from his younger self, it mattered not when everything else had felt like it had taken twenty steps back.
With no responsibilities to speak of, he had partaken in eating to at least rid some of his free time despite no longer requiring such sustenance.
Next, he had been a mercenary. Forseti or not, his magic was deadly, a fact he wished he was able to demonstrate to Manfroy. Bandits were simple, far simpler than trained soldiers with clean equipment.
The pay better and lodging and food thrown in, the constant meals in his honor were soon adding up, his thin wiry frame dissapearing under an extra layer of pudge.
But handling bandits was ultimately fruitless. Strike one down, ten more took their place. Soon, lords were next. But even that was the same. Each all too eager to rise to power one step quicker. And those inept to lead would only remain as such with those who wished to take advantage of them.
Begrudgingly, he had decided to reclaim his role as an advisor. Unwilling to divulge his past, as if any would believe his claim to aiding the current king of Grannvale, he simply started small. Some backwater lord forgotten by her King, the area infested with bandits from subpar crop yields. Lucky in finally finding one who wished to better the people's lives, Lewyn's offer was happily accepted, only those on the brink of collapse willing to obtain help from a stranger.
Like he himself had been, and still is from his rubbing, a truth he can't deny, she had been ignorant of all her lackeys's personal agendas. Embezzlement here and there, purposeful destruction of farms for higher positions in other houses, Lewyn had quickly discovered them, all who wished to rise up on the social ladder the same. So he simply treated them how they treated those they felt beneath them.
He disposed of them.
A task he still relishes in. His first taste of it from murdering his uncles.
Despite his unsavory tactics, she had been impressed. And with the territory indeed improving with his actions and recommendations, a letter in his favor had been made to others.
With scheming usurpers in all corners of the world, his aid was in desperate need.
Walking past the town gates, neither of the guards pay attention to the small splatters of blood lining his clothes. Appearance's unimportant to him anymore, the tight white outfit yells his crime to all who see. But with the aid of the night's darkness, his deed's yell is inaudible, no one around to see him. Sneaking through the back of the castle, the layout with least servants or guards well known, he quickly escapes to his room.
Common sense aiding him, he at least disrobes. Placing them in his fireplace, he stands in his underclothes as he watches them turn to ash.
No pleasure found in drinking his woes away, he found the sense of comfort through food. A soft pale little bump on top of his stomach as his shirt lifts to reveal a bit of his lower pudge, Lewyn's extra snacks were now apparent with now being able to stay in one are for some time. His thighs a bit wider, his shorts stretch over the growing area. Arms a smidgen thicker, the extra bit of fat slightly creases by his biceps. Face barely rounder, his no nonsense attitude doesn't make him appear any friendlier.
Placing on the warm robes offered to him as part of his job, they too rest snugly on him. Fabric resting over his tum, the added flesh is apparent.
As soon as he places them on, he wastes no further time. Writing a note about his departure to his current employer, a Countess, he leaves it by his bedside. Signing it under his pseudonym, Daccar, his uncle's name, Lewyn can at least take pleasure in reducing his name in any sense of importance. Even being a footnote in the annals of history is too great for his uncle.
Money and food secure, Lewyn sets out once more. Light on his feet, he carries his trusty elwind in his other hand, no one spotting him.
Preferring the background, he simply follows the winds to whatever his next destination may be. Everyone else left behind constantly.

So I'm rewatching s4 right now and I am a bit confused now. We learned in s12 that Lucifer created the princes of hell after Lilith. So the hirachy is basically this: Black eyed demons as the food soldiers red eyed demons who handle the crossroadsdeals, yellow eyed demons as the generals of hell and then Lilith? white eyed demons. Now Alistair is a white eyed demon too and he knew some crazy stuff like exorcisms for amgels. So how does this all fit in Ivm so confused.
I think the answer is that theyā€™ve been winging it the entire time with lore - I think the early seasons changes to lore also made little holes because I remember finding some of the early big changes like Lilith or Alastair showing up, or Azazelā€™s plan being retconned into being all about finding oneĀ kid instead of raising an army (or, of course, the boy king plot disappearing into being just confused demon rumours which kind of makes it all work once you know Lucifer better, like, say, after 5x04 or 5x10ā€¦) or or or wtf was Meg up to and was she and that other demon REALLY Azazelā€™s children or was that an exaggeration, and how much of his plan did she KNOW and -
(And also wtf is a King of the Crossroads and was he or Lilith in charge of the deals and were they really lovers or was that a weird embellishment from Becky, and how comes he got the Colt THEN but did Lilith even really hold the deal or was it just assumed Crowley would give it to her but it doesnā€™t matter because he didnā€™t EXIST for two more seasons and all the time the crossroads demons obliquely mention their boss itā€™s probably supposed to be Lilith in season 3 and now youā€™d think itā€™s Crowley if you watched the show backwardsā€¦)
Yeah, Iā€™ve been struggling with this since like, season 3, so at this point they could just be likeĀ ā€œand hereā€™s a whole bunch of peers from the Demon House of Lordsā€ and Iā€™ll be like okay then I guess thatā€™s a thing what sort of nonsense are they getting up to then?
(And yeah I know thereā€™s answers to most of those questions and ways to rationalise them or later context that makes it all make sense and as the years have gone by Iā€™m now at peace with all these weird changes to canon like the fact Samā€™s powers were basically just a silly side effect of being groomed to be Luciferā€™s vessel or Crowley somehow accidentally-deliberately ended up ruling Hell because literally no demon no matter how late they were retconned into the story, felt like bothering with it even if they had to time travel through a closet to answer the question of why they had never tried before or retire to fish or keep bees or whatever itā€™ll turn out Dagon was spending her time on while avoiding getting involved in something as dramatic as the apocalypseā€¦)
(Or maybe she or the other surviving Prince of Hell DID but behind the scenes in such a way that they were never hauled out into the Winchestersā€™ path, but were busy doing things like breaking seals and stuff in all the nonsense that happened way way off screen because it would be too much money to show itā€¦)
Anyway for what itā€™s worth your impression of the hierarchy seems as good as any. Hell seems to produce a lot of grunts and low-quality demons. The ones with the special spark either made too much of a name for themselves and got killed (same as how Heaven now literally seems to be quiet because all named personalities with the inclination to try and rule it have been killed off, and I think Joshua is basically the only angel LEFT up there with a name and personality :P)ā€¦ I think the smart demons end up in the crossroads business and the red eyes probably show their extra powers which I assume get burned into them one way or anotherā€¦ That department is responsible for restocking Hell faster than it would fill up naturally with the run of the mill sinners (though stuff like Jeffreyā€™s demon is a bit ambiguous about if he was picking up pre-booked for Hell serial killer types and just egging them on a bit to cause the most mayhem on Earth before they go to Hell, which they probably would have regardlessā€¦) and thatā€™s a very separate division. Admin and bureaucracy, and Crowley runs Hell like a business crossed with a medieval court, a great combination of King of the Crossroads/Hell and his salesman style elevated to CEO of Hell Inc.Ā
I think Crowley crossed lines, anyway, by becoming King of Hell because it seems like power used to be all in the military types - Lilith led Hell into war in season 4, and Lucifer basically picked up where she left off. If you assume sheā€™d been in charge the whole time before that as the highest ranking/oldest demon, it would make sense, although in season 3 itā€™s implied sheā€™s on the rise, so itā€™s not like ALL the demons recognised this, although how much of that is like the angel fall and personal ego trips (but without the emotional hook from Cas to make it upsetting theyā€™re infighting, and they are happy to be there unlike the angels) making random factions happen, idkā€¦ By season 4 anyway the leadership was clear since it was a choice between Sam and Lilith for the demons, and in season 3 early on the demons realised Sam had no intention of leading them like he was supposed to.
I think Alastair is equivalent to Crowley, running his department of Hell (the crossroads deals feed into his torture chamber) and Iā€™m guessing since Crowley came late to the game, only in the last couple of hundred years, he had to Crowley his way up to the top of the crossroads hierarchy, but Alastair was clearly an old demon, probably turned either by Lucifer directly or by Lilith (which is why his eyes were like hers)ā€¦Ā
Cain seems like quite a personal thing for why Lucifer turned him, and we donā€™t know the timeline on if he made the princes of hell before or after, but the knights of hell are definitely lower on the orderā€¦ If Cain ever fitted well into the Hell hierarchy, heā€™d have been in charge of the armies, while the princes would probably have been responsible for everythingĀ although all of them except Azazel retired to beekeeping/fishing lives before the story starts, meaning we never see Hell fully functioning. Itā€™s probably been in shambles for hundreds of years - Crowley probably went to Hell ~1700 and Cain defected some time in the 1800s; if you give Crowley 100 years to become demonised, he shows up about the time we know for sure the leadership in Hell is crumbling. Colt and the Hellgates thing whatever was going on there (and what happened to Cold Oak, South Dakota, because thatā€™s serious demon nonsense and probably concurrent) happened justĀ two yearsĀ before Cain fucked off to keep bees and probably WHILE he was massacring the Knights of Hell depending on how long that took him and when he met Colette and all the stuff that was going on with him. Iā€™m guessing thereā€™s an unexplored story there which maybe even the writers havenā€™t noticed while flinging random dates for reasons significant only to their episodes (but who knows, it IS Robbie Thompson putting the keystone in, as it were) but anyway, Hell has been in a Bad Way for at least 200 years if not many centuries. The Croatoan episode suggests they were testing the virus back in the 1500s and that never amounted to anything, which means they failed to kickstart the apocalypse five hundred years agoĀ and who knows what damage that did to moraleā€¦
Anyway I think Hell is a mess, canon is a mess, and itā€™s pretty much impossible to work out what all these demons are and how theyā€™re related because they make it up a bit each time they introduce new ones depending on what sounds cool, leading to aĀ ā€œjust say yeah when they introduce new canonā€ kind of response I now have to anything about demons on this show >.>
