I'm in volume 6 in my rwby rewatch and when Ruby is talking to Maria about her silver eyes the whole yard is filled with butterflies. Specifically blue ones.

Which is very much reminding me of the butterflies that keep showing up in volume 9. I feel its not exactly a conicidence--the moment Ruby actually starts learning about her eyes, and her legacy that those eyes came from, there are butterflies everywhere.

I think she's going to see Summer in the next episode. This is just another hint towards that. Ruby has gone to the tree, whatever that means, and she's been haunted by Summer's reflection all volume. They're actually going to have a conversation. Maybe surrounded by butterflies.
