Imagine you’re Killer Croc and you have terrible body dysmorphia and also social anxiety and are treated as a Literal Monster, something you lean into on occasion, but at the end of the day you’re just a totally human guy with a skin condition who also does admittedly eat people also, but you are a totally human guy. Imagine you are Waylon Jones and one of your biggest fears is that everyone sees you as a monster, as ugly, as disgusting and worthy of ridicule as something to laugh at, which isn’t an unsubstantiated fear, it was true for your childhood and it’s true now and it’s so bad even the narrative you’re in routinely forgets that you aren’t a literal crocodile creature all the fucking time. You also maybe have dementia and forget sometimes that you aren’t some normal human guy and also think you’re a literal crocodile as your brain degenerates which isn’t actually what dementia is but whatever. But you also care for your fellow humans you also have empathy and when you find outcasts you live with them in the sewers and you just want to protect the people who like you have been tossed aside for being wrong, for being different! Also sometimes you do just kill people and also sometimes eat them. Imagine also you are let loose to live in the swamp even though you’re again just a human dude and you’re perfectly content there and it’s portrayed as a peaceful and happy ending for you because you Just Want to Be Left Alone. Imagine this is you. Now imagine some freak loser named Hush uses you as a pawn in his stupid freak loser game and literally augments your DNA to make you a literal monster. You no longer even have your humanity to cling onto. You have become the Literal Monster you feared you were and everyone thought you were and the narrative loved to forget you weren’t. Now you are a Literal crocodile for real.
