It really is astounding how much Kaitou KID manages to capture the exact Lupin vibe despite them objectively not being that similar. I quickly lost track of the number of times I thought to myself "oh that's SUCH a Kaito move" as I was going through this book, which shouldn't be surprising considering he's expressly stated to be a huge inspiration for KID, but it's still wild to me considering the massive differences they DO have. How do these two thieves give off such identical energies when one of them doesn't even keep the things he steals???

#ignore me #Tyto reads Lupin #a lot of it is the sheer audacity and swagger for sure #but there's so much stuff both big and small that connects the two characters and it blows my mind a little bit #idk like another example might be how people within the narrative frequently react to Lupin's most flagrant stunts with LAUGHTER #which makes me grin every time--I seriously love that so much--#and it just rings as so similar to Kaito's showmanship as a magician that i can't help but overlay them on top of each other in my head #idk what I'm getting at I'm just gushing. this is such a crazy experience thanks Aoyama-sensei
