i gotta make a mental note to do some research on how this book handles the caddo people, because that’s way outta my depth and i’m curious to hear professional thoughts on it from actual native americans

#nothing seems bad per say so far but again #i am outta my depth and im curious #theres also something i wanna say about how this book regards humanity vs nature #because i dont thiiiink thats whats going on bc gar face is separated from the other humans #and the caddo seem to be there to be like ‘’no humanity is not a problem’’#grandmother’s whole thing iirc is about how she’s wrong for hating humanity and keeping her daughter from them is meant to be a bad thing #but at the same time. i dont remember any caddo people actually being relevant. besides hawk man and night song joining them #idk if there’s significance im missing with the changeling stuff too #like. i thiiiink hawk man and night song and grandmother are all supposed to represent the harmony between humanity and nature #and denying either half isnt a good thing #but… idk how to relate that to the caddo. besides them living with them #the underneath liveread #like if thats stuff related to their culture and is an attempt to be respectful to them
