ok wait i need to hear more of your thoughts on peeta owning a bakery....

This is one of those rare times where I’m pretty sure this anon isn’t someone I know personally bc I’ve subjected anyone who will listen to my rant about the Peeta Bakery Headcanon. Anyway, you’re gonna regret asking this anon bc there are fucking Layers here.

I know this is probably a controversial take based on the number of fics where I’ve seen it, but I simply do not think that Peeta would open a commercial bakery after Mockingjay!! Like on a metatextual level, I don’t think it really fits with the point of the ending of the series. It actually sort of fascinates me that it’s just such a common headcanon because the ending of Mockingjay is exceedingly vague. I think that vagueness invites us, as readers, to imagine a better world post-revolution. A world where Katniss would feel confident that her children would be safe from injustice, where she’d feel confident that her children would never know want the way she did as a child. A just world. A kinder world. Can a capitalist society ever be just? Is a capitalist society where a disabled teenager has no other means to subsist himself (or feels like there’s no other way he can be a contributing member of his community) really the post-revolution world we dream of? Is that really the best we can imagine?

(This got so insanely long I’m adding a read more lmao)

I get that showing a better world is not always the point of post-mockingjay headcanons/fics. Like there are plenty of really great post-mockingjay fics I’ve seen where, yeah, part of the fic is that society like ISN’T all that different or all that much better. I’ve seen that really well done! Hell, I’ve written them myself! It’s easy to imagine how a lot of aspects of society would not get an overhaul, a lot of the same structural inequalities would continue to exist. One headcanon that really stuck with me (I can’t remember which fic it was from) was that Peeta sells basically mail order baked goods to people on the Capitol, sending them iced cakes and pastries by train, because there are still people who were “fans” of theirs during the Games. And idk this doesn’t actually have much to do with my point lol but I liked it because it’s kind of fucked up and like! Yeah! It makes sense! If he needed money that would be a good way to make it! War often makes people rich, often for horrible reasons, and often it’s people who already have capital in the first place.

Anyway, more about the hypothetical bakery because alright. I bring up the fact that “yeah society not being all that different post-revolution and still being an unjust capitalist hellscape” could be a reason why Peeta re-opens a bakery because that’s actually never the types of fics where I see the bakery headcanon. Fics where Peeta opens a bakery are usually trying to make the exact opposite point. Like. Things are getting better, now he can open a bakery! Look at how much better the world is now, plus he’s got a bakery! Peeta is healing, that’s why he can open a bakery now! And I am so, so sorry to inform everyone who’s never had the grave misfortune of owning a family business, but there is truly nothing further from the truth lmao. Like just putting aside the immense amount of emotional baggage that Peeta has about his family, running a small business is an insane amount of work in any context and being a baker especially is physically grueling and involves early hours (and long hours) that aren’t really the best fit with the multiple ways that Peeta is disabled now. (I could go into this more because I have a lot of thoughts. But I will spare you.). I also think it’s seen throughout the books that Peeta is someone who needs time to pursue creative outlets to process his feelings and someone who values leisure and values quality time with his loved ones. And having grown up in his family’s bakery, I think he’d understand the reality that running a bakery wouldn’t leave much space of those pursuits and wouldn’t leave much space for him to have the things that keep him healthy and stable. I think he’d know that the way he is now— after two Games and the war and unspeakable torture at the hands of a dictator—isn’t compatible with the lifestyle necessary for running a commercial bakery.

And tbh with that in mind, I don’t think he’d push himself to re-open a business (one that would be a constant reminder of his dead family and his complicated relationships with them that got no closure) that would require him to sacrifice his physical and emotional well-being. Like I think he might look into the possibility, I think he might even start trying to open a bakery out of a sense of obligation/duty, maybe harboring some idea that this is who he was supposed to be, who he would've been without the Games, or that it’s this last piece of his family that can live on, or that it’s this last connection to his family so he can’t let it die too. But ultimately, I think any attempt to open a bakery wouldn’t get very far. Maybe he'd start wading into the logistical nightmare that is small business ownership and realize it's not for him (because it's probably also true that as much as him and his brothers were involved in the business, there's almost certainly parts they weren't involved with and didn't see, i.e., filing taxes). Or maybe looking into opening a bakery— how triggering it is, the stress of it— causes a downward spiral. Maybe he hates how much he's worrying everyone by unraveling. Maybe having a breakdown from the stress of just trying to open a bakery makes him realize, yeah, maybe in another life he would have ran his family’s bakery but the way he is now just doesn’t work with running a bakery, not without great sacrifices he's not willing to make. I just can’t see a bakery coming to fruition.

I know a lot of fics include Peeta deciding to reopen a bakery as a big step in his healing or include him rebuilding a bakery as part of his healing process but honestly, I think the opposite would be more true: I think Peeta either trying/failing to open a bakery or ultimately deciding not to open a bakery would be hugely healing for him. I think it would be a huge part of him accepting the way he is now as a person, his new limitations but also his strengths. I think it would be a huge part of him accepting the way his life his now and accepting that he likes his life the way it is, that he’s satisfied with his life without needing to own a bakery. I think it would be an important part of him coming to terms with the loss of his family. I think he knows he can never have things back as they were and I don’t think he would try to recreate them, especially because his family’s legacy isn’t a business. I think he’s emotionally intelligent enough and self reflective enough to realize that what mattered to him about the bakery— taking care of others by feeding them, being integrated into his community and being actively involved in it, brightening people’s days with delightful things whether that’s beautiful cakes or hearty food or delicious treats— and the things he learned from his family through the bakery, are things that he can carry on in other meaningful ways.

I wasn’t really sure where to put this next part in what is rapidly becoming an essay because it sort of combines the points about like “what do we imagine a post-mockingjay society to look like” with the practical difficulties of starting this bakery but here’s another thing: do people really think that the Mellarks owned the land the bakery was on?? Like, sure, the merchants are the petit bourgeois of Twelve but I still don’t imagine they really own anything. In a society where houses are assigned to people upon marriage, where property ownership and capital are so closely interconnected with citizenship (as shown by the Plinths who, by having immense capital, are able to leave their District and become citizens of the Capitol) do people really think the Mellarks would be allowed to own the land their bakery is on?? I always imagined it sort of like a tenant farming situation: the Capitol gives them the raw materials for the bakery and in return the bakery give them some absurdly high portion of their profits, or the Capitol sells them a year’s supply of raw materials at a premium on credit and at the end of the year the Mellarks have to use the money they made with those materials to pay it back, except it’s never enough to turn a profit so they always have to buy next year’s materials on credit and the cycle continues.

We (understandably) get a really skewed view of the merchant class through Katniss’s perspective so I can see why people come to the conclusion that his family owned the property and, as the last surviving member, he would’ve inherited it. I’ve seen the inheritance thing in fics a lot or a hand wavey “well Twelve was decimated to no one owns anything anymore so it can be his” or even like an almost sort of reparations type situation where he’s entitled to the land as a surviving refugee of Twelve. But I don’t know. I guess I don’t think it fits with everything else we know about Panem that the Mellarks would’ve owned that land and I think the question of whether the government would’ve let him take ownership of the land post-revolution brings up a lot of issues about the structure of society post-Mockingjay that I find more interesting to explore in other ways, especially when, from an emotional perspective, 1) I find the idea of Peeta not opening a bakery more compelling and 2) I don’t think it really fits his character arc by the end of Mockingjay to reopen a bakery, as I went on about at length above lol.

On the flip side: literally who cares!! Do whatever you want!! Headcanon whatever you want!! I get why people go for the bakery!! It’s fun, it’s wholesome, it’s a built in bakery AU that isn’t even an AU. It doesn’t matter if it’s practical or realistic!! It doesn’t need to be practical or realistic!! It’s fanfic of a dystopian YA series!! My unfortunate affliction is that I grew up in a family that owned a restaurant and that I have multiple degrees in the social sciences so I can’t see the bakery without being like “What about the overheard? What about the start up costs? Who’s spending long nights balancing the books? Is Peeta covering shifts when an employee calls in sick? Is Peeta the sole person working there until the bakery is open long enough (often a year or more) to start turning a profit? How does that sleep schedule work with his nightmares? How does that work with Katniss’s nightmares? What happens when he has an episode and suddenly needs to take the day off before he has any employees? Does the bakery just remain closed for the day? Can the profit margins withstand regular unexpected closures? Can the supplies withstand regular unexpected closures?” And if the answer is “Elliott none of those things matter he’s not doing the bakery because he needs the money but because he wants to”, then my question is why does he want to? Does he not get the same sort of satisfaction out of feeding his loved ones? Doesn’t Peeta seem like someone who would rather give away baked goods than sell them?? Doesn’t Peeta seem like someone who would prefer to make cakes for people’s special occasions upon and then when they insist on paying him for it, he only lets them “pay for the ingredients” which actually cost significantly more than he says they did??

So yeah my point is that it’s a matter of personal taste! It doesn’t fit the way I see the series but that doesn’t mean it’s like wrong, I’m not an authority on Peeta lmao.

It’s also a matter of personal taste in the sense that I find the themes that most resonate with me at the end of Mockingjay (and the end of Peeta’s arc specifically) more interesting to explore in other ways. Grief, living with loss, relearning yourself, finding hope, figuring out your place in a dramatically different world when you don’t even know who you are anymore, healing, building a new life after such complete and total destruction of your old life— those are all things I find compelling about the end of Mockingjay but for me the bakery isn’t the most compelling way to explore them.

Not to say I find the concept of the bakery totally uninteresting. I have this fic about Johanna that I’ll probably never finish where the point sort of is that, yeah, her life really isn’t all that much better after the war. It’s been years at this point and she’s still miserable and she doesn’t know how to be a person but by the end she’s trying to figure it out. And towards the end, Peeta tells her that he’s spent years sort of passively, half-heartedly trying to figure out how to inherit the land his family’s bakery was on, only to find out it was never theirs in the first place. They’d been renting it the whole time and he’d never even known as a kid. So he sort of passively, half-heartedly went on another wild goose chase to find the owner and now, finally, after years of writing to various government agencies and being sent in circles and things being barely functional, he’s managed to track down the owner. Now it’s owned by the daughter of the man who owned it when he was a kid because the original owner (who was likely up to some sketchy war crime shit) died during the war and she inherited it (the irony…). He got in contact with her and asked how much it would take for her to sell it and she told him she’s not interested in selling but in light of the situation, in light of the fact that he’d have to build a new building in order to operate a bakery, that she’d cut him a deal— she’d only require 50% of the bakery’s profits as rent instead of the 80% his family used to pay. And of course Johanna is outraged, that’s not right, the owner shouldn’t be allowed to do that, they should do something about it, they should fight back. And Peeta is like. Not interested. He was actually sort of relieved that opening wasn’t very feasible. Getting the answer was a lightbulb moment where he saw that over the years of trying to look into this, he’s built a life that he likes— one where he’s stable, where his loved ones are stable, where he’s cared for and can care for others— and he doesn’t really want to change it drastically by opening a bakery anyway. He just needed an answer, one way or another, before he could get some closure and move on. (And the point of the conversation is Johanna is having her own lightbulb moment that it’s okay to move on, it’s okay to change, it’s not a betrayal of the people and things she’s lost but that’s not my point here!!).

But anyway. That’s obviously not about running the bakery— it’s about the choice to not run one.

Anyway!! Anyway… are you satisfied anon? Is this what you wanted?

Lastly, here is my most important qualm with the bakery headcanon: must Peeta be gainfully employed? Is it not enough for him to be Katniss’s boytoy? Can’t he just paint and garden and bake and hang out with his girlfriend all day? Is that really too much to ask?

Tanjiro performs a multitude of slashes in a flowing fashion to release multiple consecutive slashes. Unfortunately you and Tanjiro definitely underestimated him. "Tanjiro-kun, do you know if Kyojuro-kun is awake? He could be some help" You look at him, still making random slashes at the demon, not focusing on one thing, but two at the same time. "And what about the others?-" You get cut off by lower moon one, putting you to sleep, thankfully you knew how to wake up, by killing yourself, you did so, even in the bathroom you swore you'd never go in again... "Rengoku-san is still asleep-... And the others too-" Tanjiro looks into the distance, then remembering.. "What was your 'dream' ?" (Name) never replied, which made Tanjiro worry, the fact that she was never the person to ignore anyone worries him a lot, but... It wasn't his fault... It was THEIR fault.. "This really isn't the time Tanjiro-kun!" (Name) took a deep breath and lunged towards Lower Moon One in such speed, he kept trying to make her fall asleep but she kept killing herself, it was painful but she kept getting used to it. Tanjiro looked at you, then starting to attack the worm thingy again, after you run back inside the train, to see a girl fighting the other skinned worm things, but this time, they had no heads, you suspected it was parts of his body, you quickly ran over and started slashing at them, the girl looked at you in pure shock and admiration, she never met you before, but she could just recognize your voice from the way you look, you were the girl that met her friends and Onii-chan, she wanted to help because she could see your arms getting weaker and weaker by every hit, she signaled to you to go and do what you were going to do from the start, you noticed it was the cabin Kyojuro, Inosuke and Zenitsu were supposed to be in, but they weren't, you soon figured out they have woken up too and are probably fighting different parts of the train right now, you nodded and went back to your main goal: Finding the main body. You quickly found Inosuke, but he said he was going to help Tanjiro make it weaker so it would be a little easier for you since he called you 'weak' which you weren't, but you knew that's the way he was, so you carried on your way, until you see Zenitsu, asleep, and fighting another part of Lower moon ones body that was the train, you just knew he would be quick because he was a thunder user, so you just thought he would go all around the train making sure the people didn't get eaten since that was the demons main goal. You kept on going until you bumped into Kyojuro, he was fighting another part, so since he was one of the mature ones, you started to explain, he nodded then let you continue what you were doing at the start, he wished you good luck and hoped you'd find it quickly, encouraging you like: "If you kill him, that means you will become a Hashira since you would have killed a member of the twelve kizuki!" or "It's very brave of you to fight alongside a Hashira, not many people get that chance, but if you find the main body you will become a Hashira and make that chance even stronger then before!" You felt really better by him saying all of that, so you continued on your way, until you heard thunder coming from the other carriages, you supposed it was Zenitsu going around them and helping the girl. Looking back at it now, you were glad you stopped, since you found something that looked very promising, you looked around and then you found something that might be a clue!... Or the actual thing...

You fall over, cover your mouth since it was bleeding, the impact you used and pure willpower, was far to much for you to handle, but just remembering the pain and suffering that came upon you when you lost your family, it would be like that on Mitsuri and Kyojuro... Maybe even the three and the girl... You didn't want that, you went around seeing if the people were okay, the impact made them all wake up, you sadly broke a finger, but that wasn't enough to stop you from doing your job. Once you met up with them all again, you sensed a strong presence come from the forest, you became very stiff from it, Tanjiro smelt it aswell since he was the one that could smell almost everything, then... A... Demon... Came out... You knew he was definitely stronger then the Lower moon one, that's for sure, but... He kept looking at you, like he was reading you... Like a book... You were very uncomfortable... Until, you read his eyes... Kanji written in them... "Upper moon three!..." You look at him in fear as you say what is written in his eyes. You quickly take out your Nichirin blade, holding it in the stronger position, you were taught a lot of positions to be in, like: The flexibility one, or the speedy one, the list could go on and on! "Hah! Darling!~ I don't fight women... You have taken my interest! The fact you didn't hesitate to point your sword at me like that! Very... Well... On going... I'll give you this offer! Become a demon Darling! Fight along side me, or... We shall be on opposite sides... And in the end... You will die to the hands of another demon... I'd hate for that to happen... So, what shall it be?.." You look at him in pure shock, Kyojuro doing the exact same, he wouldn't- ... He couldn't let you become a demon! You were the first one he loved... More then a friend... More then a normal family member... Tanjiro was so confused at why demons would ask a demon slayer to become a demon, but yet again, normal humans are not as strong as demon slayers, since they don't have a weapon or breathing style. Kyojuro quickly stood in front of you, the demon looked at him with anger, the way he had the audacity to block his view of his future wife like that! He could see the faint flushed look on your face, which made him even more angry, but gave him the more point to kill him... "Huh? Who may you be? And why are you blocking the view of my Darling?..." Kyojuro's aura becoming less innocent and becoming more angry, and-... Well... A menacing aura...

why did katara never train w pakku?? that makes 0 sense. i understand she was mostly self taught throughout s1. but the whole thing was that: yes, katara was good before pakku, but when she finally did get a master, she became EXPONENTIALLY better and really came into her own. i am not buying that she becomes the master katara we know and love without learning from pakku. so unrealistic. when zuko says “u found a master” and she said “yes ur looking at her”. oh girlboss feminism u are going to HELL!

would like to take a moment to say^^^ i am a feminist ok. do nottttt get it twisted. but girlboss feminism is brainrot.

really felt like if u did not watch the original series, this show would feel SO all over the place and u would have so many “wtf is happening” moments. the whole omashu shit was kind offfffff a mess. i see where they were going and why they were doing that but in hindsight after the fact i was like… if i knew nothing ab this show that would have been the most confusing clusterfuck.

and i think my biggest/most general complaint that i already talked about that i will briefly touch on: trying to do too much. why are we putting in characters and plot points that do not come till seasons 2-3 and are completely unnecessary now (secret tunnel, wan shi tong, swamp-kinda episode, etc.)

final thoughts?

it was enjoyable. i cannot deny that. landscapes were gorgeous. fights were well choreographed and looked GOOD. some changes were genuinely made for the better, and even changes that i do not necessarily think were better, i could respect the creativity of some changes and understood why they were there. but overall, as most live action remakes go, this was a flat portrayal of one of the greatest pieces of fiction of all time that suffered from some overly ambitious ideas and dull writing with little to no sense of whimsy. while some performances exceeded expectations, others that were crucial to the integrity of this show really disappointed me.

overall: 6.6/10. this number is completely subject to change.

okk so just quick disclaimer beforehand, i dont know shit about figure skating except the very very basics (like what type of jumps and stuff) so if smth is incorrect or doesnt make sense its bcs of that haha also as always im hopelessly overpowered :D

In my dr im a figure skater from Germany, i was born in early 2007 and did ballet from when i was like 3 (thats canon btw i did that in my cr too haha) but then quickly got impatient and kinda bored with it (also canon, i regret stopping tho) and my parents put me into figure skating and gymnastics instead. since in my hometown there isnt really a big figure skating team (there is one but its not good ngl) i scripted that my now coach saw me by coincidence and decided i had talent and she wanted to coach me. I can do more on my coach if you guys want to btw its kinda a whole (unfinished) story (shes an oc).

So then she started coaching me in 2014, after a lot of convincing from me towards my parents cos they didnt actually want me to become a professional skater cos its obviously not the healthiest thing to do but after I saw Yulia at the 2014 Olympics I begged my parents to let me get private lessons until they gave in (yulia is kinda my role model and i wanna be like her)

I have an unfinished list of my senior competitions here (for the sake of plot i kinda made it so the covid restrictions on the 2020/21 season didnt happen for the junior competitions, only seniors, also kamila and i dont compete together before the olympic season) and yes ofc i win everything bcs as i said op af (also i know some of the competitions overlap so idk how im gonna do that yet, if anyone has an idea pls feel free to tell me haha)

for jumps i have all quads (yes including 4A cos im just that good lmao) and im playing with the idea (actually i put it already but its prolly impossible so im unsure if i should put it) of scripting i have a quintuple jump as well at some point.

Im really not knowledgeable on different spins i just scripted theyre centered and i dont have a lot of movement on the ice during them idk if thats how you say it but like i spin in one place and dont move to the left or right a ton

Then like some stuff that goes without saying, i have good technique, i dont get hurt badly, i dont have any long term problems from professional skating, stuff like that

My s/o is ilia malinin but since hes born in 2004 we dont get together for a while. We meet either at a competition or during my exchange year in the us in 2024 (my host family lives in the same state he does and we train at the same rink while im there) and then like slowburn friends to lovers pining everyone-knows-except-them kinda stuff (i really do love torturing myself in that aspect apparently)

4*, 4*, 3*, 2*. the orchestra guys will have 3 ocs at a time plus a vs. all cards are hakolims and mixed events can have any previous mixed card OR initial card (every character will have an initial 4*, which doesnt give you an outfit or hairstyle bc its their regular unit one).

also it'll go sunken starlight, unnamed orchestra, mix, [yet to exist], unnamed orchestra, mix

this is not a real game thats being made i am not that good at coding nor do i have that much dedication

erynn says its all atticus's fault and to ask him to admit what he did

basically long story short atticus locked erynn on the roof and she jumped off to get down (she was fine and thought it was funny but teases him about it to this day)

So a friend and i were jokingly talking about 'dropping everything' and going to wwwy to see MCR in October. It's like clear across the country from us. A day and a half drive if we don't stop at all. And tickets are like 300 bucks.

We were joking but then like, we were like okay but road trip? take the week off and just go? And then we were like oh but we could fly? and then, four hours into the phone conversation we remembered that trains are a thing. And well, from my house to los vegas is only 300 bucks a ticket. and thats the same as the pass for one day. And then, because my friend is crazy, she was like okay what if i buy your ticket as a birthday presesnt. And now im like, wait I can swing 300 bucks. Like we'd probably have to stay in a hotel or take an early train and sleep but like- very quickly something that was impossible and a joke to even talk about IS possible. And im trying to decide if its a horrible financial decission when I've already taken one vaction this year and have a long weekend next month for my sister's graduation. BUt then again, what if i Never get to see MCR live? We keep saying they're gonna tour again but what if they Don't. Yk?

So yeah she told me to think on it and calculate how many vaction hours I've got after my sister's graduation. We have six months. But now im kinda scared to say yes bc that's a Huge trip. Ive only been to the middle of tennesse. Thats as far west that ive ever gone. Ive been tot he top of virginia and down to flordia and thats it. So this would be a massive trip.

long time no post!

lots of interesting things happened, i went to lugano for a work trip and it was lots of fun! i stayed with this american lady who told me about her life and how she used to live in dubai and she was in love with this man but he was married and didn't want to have kids with her but then he cheated on her with a filipina woman and they had a baby right away! and now she's 50 with no kids and she feels like she wasted her youth on this dubai guy. what a life huh?

i spent the day walking around the city looking for potential clients for our business and it was v productive. i didn't do any touristy things tho like i didn't visit any landmarks or like museums and stuff. but yeah, it was lots of fun! i snuck into 2 family offices and wow idk about you guys but ive never been to a family office before. like it's a whole parallel world. there are all these rich families with money they don't know what to do with. my my...

on the train i talked to my zurich friend a lot and his greek girlfriend-not-girlfriend broke up with him. and like. idk what he's doing wasting his time like that. like he has so much potential but his head is just empty yknow. like he's so intelligent but at the same time so god damn stupid! talking to him is frustrating bc i just wanna be like dude get your shit together. but oh well, we're all stupid in our own different ways. his time will come and i think that in a couple of years he's gonna be a 10 and i honestly can't wait to meet the man he's gonna become!

other than that, yesterday i stayed over at my parents' place and we watched kung fu panda 3 and it was so good! i had such a good time and i love my parents so much!

1. The give everyone a bad name, both those in the “they’re PR” camp and those who just don’t like them together and think their energy is off. Beyond insane behaviors.

2. 💀 at the burner accounts talking to each other like they aren’t the same person. I love how we all know this but they pretend they’re getting one over on us! Like, make it less obvious and don’t TALK IN ALL CAPS randomly and don’t use the same insults (calling someone “thick” for not agreeing etc). It is a little entertaining though and I’m almost sad they’ve toned it down, but you’re right as their other comments about other subjects are usually quite wild. 👀

3. Once Pappi defended Amanda against a commenter by saying she had special needs and she came in hot saying that she just had ADD or maybe it was ADHD. Like you, I wanna be a bit mindful bc I’m not convinced that’s the only thing wrong and I feel for her. But she also loses me bc she bullied others and when they clap back she says they bully her. That’s become kinda hard to watch in all honestly bc poor girl has her full name and face to all of her receipts…

4. Are you on Reddit? I used to be in the Austin butler land one and couldn’t stay bc I actually found that fandom annoying with virtually no understanding how Hollywood works and they project some weird stuff onto Austin as well as A&K BUT the one thing I’ll always love them for is they did call Mollie once the pappiaustin of the A&K shippers hahahahaha. Even they think she’s delusional and needs to get a life! 😂💀😂💀😂

yeah the burner accounts and the talking in all caps is a lot lol. she won't ever admit she uses burner accounts so at this point i think we just gotta watch the train leave the station and wish it bon voyage lol.

honestly i just still don't feel comfortable talking about amanda incase she is on the spectrum or if there's something else involved. i don't follow the drama about that stuff closely, so idk what she has done if she's bullied others. that's a hard one. i want to be respectful if she is mentally impaired. and im gonna leave it at that to be honest.

i barely browse reddit but i have in the past scrolled through the threads. most of the people in there are shippers. and one of them in particular knows way too much about austin's personal things like she found out some things about the house he used to live in, the address, etc. and she never said she's in the industry with connections to info like that, that she is just a fandom person. the stalking that most fans do is just fucking nuts. it makes me so uncomfortable. it's too much information that should not be made public.

Uhhhh little rant about smth that happened today, feel free to ignore I just need to get this shit out before I bury it down

Ok, so I play basketball. I'm not great at it, I'm aware, but I'm not bad when I actually try. Today was ouR second game

By "our" I mean just the starters and like 2 other girls. The team consists of 14 players. 5 of them, I think more, are failing one or more of their classes, meaning they weren't allowed to play, some aren't allowed to play for 3 weeks because of that. The ones who are passing are mainly the ones who are on both JV and Varsity, like me and like a little less than half the V team.

Unfortunately the head coach doesn't care about the jv team. During practice she'll use as as practice dummies for her old team and starters. This means that we don't get the same opportunity to learn and practice the plays we're supposed to do.

Now, the reason I need to rant is because of what those girls who are failing said. We told them that they need to get their grades up. Then they said that we depend on them too much and that we should know the plays because we have the same practices.

NO DUMBASS WE DONT. WE DONT KNOW THE PLAYS AND WE DONT KNOW THE WEIRD ASS POSITIONS. YOU ASSHOLES GET PRIORITY IN THE COACHES EYES AND WE GET SHIT. WERE TRAINING DUMBIES FOR YOU SO WE DONT GET THE SAME AMOUMT OF PRACTICE YOU GET FOR ANYTHING. YOUR ALL FUCKING FAILING SO WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU JUDGING US?

I literly got less than 30 seconds of playing time at the very end because the coach didn't want to get in trouble and I was confused as all hell bc I had been sitting on the bend the entire game. They fucking used me to full up the players water bottles when they began to get emptied. I'm sorry, but I didn't see this last year in jv when we literly only had 5 girls on the team playing the whole time with the only breaks being the time outs and half time. Someone to fill waterbottles would have been great for us then.

Istg I didn't even want to join basketball this year because I do not like the coaches. One doesn't even play basketball, and somehow she's been more help than the actual coach when it comes to actual moves. I know I'm not the only one who feels like this bc while the game was going on, me and another girl who got about a minute were talking about this. Like miss, we don't know how to trap well, we don't know where you want us to go when the play falls apart, and we don't know what you want us to do when no one is open and we can't dribble.

I know where gonna get in trouble when we go back to school on monday, but I better not have to do anything because I played for less than 30 seconds. I love basketball, it's really fun for me, but the coach pisses me off and I feel like the girls who weren't in jv last year don't see how they get a better coach than everyone else. Idk why I even go to the ga,es if I don't get to play. The first game I didn't play at all and I was still expected to show up in full gear. I know it's probably normal and this happens in every school, but it just passes me off that I and a bunch of other girls are being held to the same standards as the girls who get much more practice than us.

The jv team is larger than last year which I'm thankful for, but most of the girls in jv are in Varsity too, so the practices are merged. I thought this mean that we'd get more practice but apparently not.

heathney is literally just whatever i feel like forcing onto them at the moment because when i was writing hcag and ppp there was like... 3 fics for them HELP😭 and i had a different idea in my head than the ones i half-read. i havent really touched ao3 in the same last 7 months so im not sure if its different now but bc it was bleak for a while i kinda just made stuff up and hoped it stuck with people (which apparently it did. im glad people like my work :3)

my thinking about them started when i was writing/drafting heartaches (im still writing for it too. auahghh🫠) it was all spawned by a random train of thought that i wish world tour was less focused on alejandro and more on the dynamic that could have formed around heather and courtney PURELY because of that 1 second scene where heather was comforting courtney. thats literally it that entire fic was spawned by two seconds and some anons egging me on bc it was an idea other people were interested in. I wanted to delve into the thought process of heather behind that. like how genuine was that scene to heather and how impactful was it to courtney. basically I just thought the idea of heather taking advantage of courtney when she was so volatile and emotionally clingy sounded evil and fun. i literally just didnt like that courtney got so into alejandro bc i hate that man so much so i swapped some things around and got hcag

sorry for being the ultimate tangent master im finally getting back to ppp heathney. anyways. Having been writing the sort of dynamic of heather and courtney being weird teammates that are only using eachother but also in it for their own emotional clingyness reminded me of my FAVORITE SHOW EEVRRR lps populaarr🙈🙈🙈🙈 and also aus of that show i love so i stole the concept. in my mind they became childhood besties for the resties until they got separated then hated eachother when they met up years later. With the way i was writing heather in hcag i was thinking soooo hard about how fucked up courtney couldve been if she had an influence like heather as a kid. this is also going back to my time in the amphibia fandom oops i hella stole everything for that fic and tweaked some things.

I dont think ppp is the heathney dynamic of all time because its literally shit i made up and stole and inserted into a really self indulgent fic, BUT it is a dynamic i love for them in the setting of the au its in. heather being so so so controlling to courtney as kids and courtney having no friends to base this behavior off of thinking its normal. aughh... they have opposite levels of social skills which makes their communication shit which entertains me. Heather knows what she wants from people and knows how to get it, and she doesnt notice (or care) how harmful she can be. Courtney doesnt know how to talk to people very well and has a very twisted grasp of what people think about her, in her eyes being the most well liked person on the planet and throwing a tissy fit every time thats challenged. im gonna say it 20 times but it just grasps me way too hard and it gets my brain thinking forever and ever about them. courtney as is very much a "i want what i want and ill get it" kind of person but in ppp heather is so good at manipulating her that the kinds of personality traits she shows in canon are very much suppressed (whether that was on accident or on purpose from heather is technically spoilers? for ppp i guess). theyre still there but hidden from years of being friends with heather as a child. LOL BASICALLY. i hope its obvious but despite their deep friendship as a child and how much love (and rose tinted glasses) they had for eachother and the past, that shit was NOT HEALTHY!!!! AT ALL!

so heather is really good at manipulating and courtney was the one that ended up on the brunt of it all. not surprising, we all know what heather is like, but COURTNEY.. ohh im so sorry about what i do to her im constantly fucking her up because i just love to see how she reacts to it. she is so reactive and emotional and i love it. i love seeing such an intelligent and confident woman be so weak to her own damn self UGH it kills me inside but i cant look away i need to mess her up constantly. Courtney in ppp has such an interesting perspective to write because i can insert some random ass idea into her head and play it off because she is emotionally STUPID! you can truly make her think anything thats at an extremely juvenile level of emotional awareness/understanding and you'll be able to play it off because she has way too much confidence in herself while knowing very little outside of academics and very clear-cut rule oriented things. the way it plays into her thoughts about heather too.. oohhhh. evil evil stuff.. she knows heather is considered a bad person and she also sees herself as being better than everyone in every way so she cant mentally stoop down to heathers level of brutality, meanwhile because of the way she sees herself shes constantly thinking bad of others and people see them very similarly. Courtney doesnt realize it but she is on a veryy similar playing field to heather in terms of how people see them. it would be gutting if she ever realized but her brain does Not let her see it that way. i just love courtney corruption arc ok orz. i need heather to play into it so damn bad. it grabs me so hard.

anyways this is quite messy and very spur of the moment but these are basically my thoughts on them. i want them to make eachother worse but in the most fucked up way imaginable. i want them to have the most deep and complicated history ever

man I'm so like, frustrated and angry and ashamed of myself regarding this situation that when I had to confront it again, I literally just started shaking? did my breathing exercise and calmed down but ugh man this sucks!

for context my mom didn't get her car back in time for Christmas so I'm having to make a bunch of arrangements to get her here for it, bcs it might genuinely be one of the last times that we can get together as a family while my grandma is still kind of coherent and can interact/remember us, and one of my arrangements is having my mom over at my place when she arrives bcs she's gonna be scared and exhausted from having taken the train and ashamed for having to rely on her child in this situation so I wanted her to have a nice space to just chill in instead of having to go directly to my grandma's where she'd face even more stress!

And since my roommate left for the holidays, I asked him if I could sleep in his room in order to have my mom over bcs I'm in a hard situation. And then started cleaning his room before getting a response from him.... and as it turns out, he responded no! so I had to be like "I'm so sorry I already washed your sheets bcs I thought you were gonna say yes" which I completely agree, was out of pocket and inappropriate! but I did have strong reason to believe that he'd say yes, and also I couldn't just not tell him I'd already washed his sheets bcs he definitely would have noticed the smell difference getting home.

Also! I personally don't have a problem with someone sleeping in my room when I'm not there, as long as they're not going thru my shit it's fine (and even if they do, it's on them as to what they find lol). So I thought he'd say yes bcs we'd previously spoken and agreed on me sleeping in his room at some point bcs a room was gonna be free in our house so we wanted to see if we could move rooms but I needed to see if his room would work for me with my sensitivities etc. as well as him saying it was fine for me to go into his room and turn off the heating THAT SAME DAY! so I assumed it would be fine! Especially like, doing a favor for someone in a hard situation on Christmas seems like the reasonable, nice thing to do! Even moreso for your roommate who is nice to you and takes care of the house so you don't have to??

And then at this point, now that I've washed his sheets already and cleaned things, logically, one would just kinda give up bcs the mistake has already been made and his privacy already invaded and go "fine it's already done, I'm mad but I get ur in a hard place so sure you can sleep in my room", but instead he doubled down and said he wasn't gonna change his mind about it, despite me saying that it puts me in a really difficult situation to not be able to use his room for one night. like idk I really didn't expect him to be petty about this, I did not think he was that kind of person!

I'm given love pretty consistently. When olivia and I have our silly little talks about dr who or er or temeraire thats just. well thats just olivia and I. thats the love we have. we talk and I love it and we can talk about the stupidest things but its just. its just a chance to hear each others voice and to say "hey I love you. talk to me about something that matters to you and I will listen."

and the same goes for dante but I feel like I am not sharing an interest with him and i'm seriously considering getting into lego boats or something just so we can share that. not out of guilt or anything like obligation. i just love talking to dante. I love sharing interests with him. I love when he talks abt the things he likes. and dante always responds to me with so much empathy and understanding. Whenever I have a bad time dante is like yeah bud I get you. I honestly feel like a tiny bit bad that i'm not into boats bc I can just see how much joy that brings dante and like...I wanna get in on that.

And like. again I am given love. Best example is mumma messaging me recently and just basically saying "oh, yeah, my first book is dedicated to you. You didn't know that? of course it was."
