I enjoy those posts that refer to instincts of the human mind as "monkey brain" "chimpanzee brain" "gorilla brain" "orangutan brain" (etc.) as though human brains are some blend of all of the other primates and our instincts are like specific primates "talking" to us. I mean that's really not how it works but it's fun to imagine it that way
#rambles#orangutan posting#primate posting#i'm talking about those posts that are like#human: what should i do today?#chimpanzee brain: scream at every mild annoyance#gorilla brain: throw things#orangutan brain: sit and eat fruit all day#you know what i mean#i think they're fun#though they can get pretty inaccurate#plus bonobos are usually left out (and when they are included it's always some comment about their sex habits-#-which i mean... it's not incorrect... but.)#bonobos are the least talked about of the great apes despite being about equally related to us as chimpanzees#they look very similar to chimps and they were considered chimps until they were recognized as their own species relatively recently#their behavior is so different from chimps despite being so visually similar#idk i think they should be known more outside of the ape fanbase (definitely a thing) especially since they are so endangered
