woah okay so i finished checkmate
#the ending was actually really satisfying? i thought it would be rushed and messy but it was actually pretty thoughtful on the authors part#like the implication that soohyun accepts his feelings have turned from jealousy and hatred into love and care#and that rather than going fucking full on yandere he tries to healthily develop a relationship with eunseung#that was all refreshing#im still beyond irritated and exasperated at the need for the literal assault / non con scenes#there were 2 between the main couple which really pissed me off bc even without them we could see that their dynamic was unsteady/hateful/#eventually codependent even#like i just found it so unnecessary to need to include assault bc a good story teller can establish complex character dynamics without#scenes relying on shock factor#also the last thing lgbts want is shit like this#overall i think the story gets a 6/10? maybe a 7 if im feeling nice#it was really interesting and im think soohyun's character is so fascinating#idk i find him admirable despite his neurotic tendencies#z.post
