wtf is happening with tumblr
ive been sort of mia due to rl stuff and when i poke my head in they’ve upended everything again with some weird roll out feature that’s currently only affecting some people(????) but that is totally messing up my dash.
here are some examples of some excellent new tumblr features:
it now tags posts that appear to have the American incumbent related content with a content warning??? it’s not part of my blacklist - it’s a literal feature?? with no context except that the post may contain something that warrants warnings.
I mean i wish something like this existed elsewhere as well - cuz im sick and tired of seeing stuff about that guy - or knowing that others see and are affected by him... but is this really the way??? (for transparency: the post itself had little to do with the person in question. More relating to Tucker Carlson. Who warrants a warning label all by himself tbh) I feel like this isn’t the right way of stopping misinformation, hate speech or anything - as you’ve probably noticed I am refraining from including the incumbent’s name in this post, for worry that my post might get tagged as well.
That’s not how things should work. We need more transparency around these types of tagging process. thx.

That brings me to the other weird occurrence on my dash since logging back on: a lack of context about who is reblogging stuff anymore.
When you reblog now - previous comments only appear with a dash across the post under them - without name/time/info about who wrote what in the post itself.
So text-posts look like someone is having a very confused conversation with themselves, as evidenced below.
Tumblr media
these are the two glaring things I have noticed so far.
So not only aren’t posts showing up in tags anymore, and sometimes not on people’s dashboards (despite following said person) + you can’t see your own posts on the dashboard anymore. the usage of this site is getting even more confusing.
I was hoping them allowing support of xkit would mean they were maaaybe somewhat listening to their userbase, but nah. seems like they’re still hellbent on driving any sane user off this terrible site.
edit: previous tags used also seem to carry on with subsequent reblogs. i.e. if someone previously tagged something it doesn’t matter what the following person tags or doesn’t tag, the post will now be caught by that # by blacklists.
which might be a good thing? idk. it is strange seeing untagged reblogs get blacklisted though.
Anyway. Anyone else dealing with these things? Have you figured out how to go back to the old settings? xkit doesn’t seem to have fixed it yet... and half the time tumblr is now turning off my xkit :/ help. how am i supposed to use this site now.
