First Kashiwagi and Lau Ka Long, then Mine basically gets confirmed in an interview, now we see Richardson somehow survived as well.

Which kind of makes Rikiya the elephant in the Y3 impossible survivors room. And while part of me would be ecstatic to see my boy again and it does feel a little odd to leave him out while you're bringing all these others back... Well. It also feels weird to retcon all these guys' deaths to begin with, and Rikiya's would feel especially egregious and could really cheapen his original death if not handled well. It's like I'm waiting for the weirdest shoe to drop. Are they going to be weird and do it or be weird and not do it?

#the story never really went back to okinawa for any large stretch of time or plot #so idk you could do something like 'yeah he was in the hospital for a long time and it was a close call but he pulled through #and has been helping out in okinawa and the kids' lives ever since and we just didn't get back there'#it would still feel super weird #but it's something?#idk RGG just goes off on strange choices sometimes and this whole Y3 survivors gang is one of them #don't get me wrong - THRILLED to have kashiwagi back #but that also worked as a one-time fun little thing like 'yeah this character can come back sure'#and everyone else has just felt a bit... weird #like they can't leave Y3 alone but also don't want to address it at all #...they're not getting ready for a Y3 remake with story changes are they?#I know Y3 got a bunch of flak in the day but a lot of that was from fanboys who wanted the series to be something it's not #hmmmmm much to think about
