I’m just gonna vent about the ridiculousness of being a MCYT stan rn, especially a DTeam (previously DTQK) main…
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Ok but on a real note cause I do actually have stuff to say lol.
Aside from creator drama/controversy/etc. (content creators be normal challenge GO !! /silly /lh), which also stinks (RIP SBI, lovejoy, bench trio, DTQK, etc.) I’m just really tired of how this affects my personal relationships
ATP, I feel comfortable and confident in my own interests and opinions enough that I don’t really listen to the internet anymore, nor do I have any sorts of moral panics over watching these guys, and I don’t really think I should have to defend myself for liking them, but the unfortunate reality is that I do have to defend it, constantly.
It just really sucks
The DSMP in particular, both the lore and the creators, have been a special interest of mine for going on 4 years now, and the many many ways that it has impacted my life makes it so it’s really hard to be friends with anyone who has an even slightly negative opinion of it (even the totally fair ones)
I feel bad, because I very much have the standpoint that ruining friendships over fandoms is stupid and such arbitrary things shouldn’t be able to hold so much power, however unfortunately, being AuDHD, and being friends with mostly other AuDHD people, our interests are very important to us, and so is justice, so it’s not that easy.
I KNOW what I KNOW about these creators and I am confident and comfortable in that, but most of my friends don’t know all that, and when they know ANYTHING about these people, it’s almost always negative information.
I so badly want to correct them and debunk all the negative and false boohockey that gets spread around and give them reasons why these creators are good and why I like them because it would make me and our friendship more comfortable, but usually they’re so uncomfortable or at least suspicious and skeptical of these creators based on their preconceived notions that me TRYING to correct or explain things always gets shut down with “I don’t want to talk about this anymore” after just a couple points.
I’m happy and glad that most of my friends are mature and responsible enough that regardless of their opinions, they can respect my interest and not talk negatively about it to me and such, but it also sucks knowing that I can’t share so many huge parts of my life with them because of it, or at the very least I feel like I have to be vague or half lie in order to.
It’s not fun feeling like I’m walking on eggshells
All this over watching people play video games no less
It’s just frustrating and I never know if I should keep trying to explain things more so they can understand things and hopefully change their viewpoint, or if I should just let it go and accept I can’t talk about a lot of things with a lot of my friends.
I don’t like having friends that I can’t be that open with, friends who don’t get me.
Like, I can’t do completely casual relationships of any kind, it’s just not comfortable or fulfilling to me.
And as stupid as I think it sounds a lot of the time, I can’t change the fact that MCYT, especially the DSMP, is extremely important to me and has greatly impacted many parts of my life, so being friends with people who dislike it to pretty much any extent is hard and uncomfortable and it sucks.
I don’t want to make other people uncomfortable and I don’t want to lose important relationships over this kind of thing, but this stuff is ALSO extremely important to me, and I know in the long run it’s best to surround myself with people who understand that.
Idk, I’m just tired of having to defend and explain myself, I guess.
It’s literally just people playing video games

Aight, Imma do a little serious rant rn.
Tekken got me invested for a while now, until Tekken 6, 7, and now 8, had it stopped being fun anymore.
No, I don't hate the decision of Jin being the bad guy. Anyone who said otherwise, go to hell. Harada has been a big ass liar from day one and I'm fed up since the day Akuma was included in Tekken's canon. I just hate they don't follow through what they already started. But then, it's the least of my concerns since they don't have any competition on the market(...well, at least until Virtua Fighter 6 coming out but even then idk if I'm gonna like the lore the way I do with Tekken and MK. My bars are six feet below the ground) so whatever the fuck happened, anyone would just ride on it.
The shit that pissed me off, is the fact that I hate Battle Pass.
No, just because it's how the companies make money recently, doesn't mean it's the good way of making money.
Battle Pass, for the most part is like asking for donation if you enjoy this little game the devs made for you. It is very much excusable, if the base game was F2P.
A friendly reminder that you'll spend $70 for a base game, $100-ish if you include the Seasons Pass, Lord forbid you spent more money for that fucking statue in Collector's Edition.
On top of that, most Battle Passes has a time limit, and all of us...we have a life, not just play games 24/7. Before you could even grind those points, it's already gone. At best, it's weaponizing your FOMO(just in case you don't know what it means, the "fear of missing out").
It gets worse because it comes from Bandai-Namco, who suddenly announced this Battle Pass one month after launch. At this point, they could've raised the rating to PEGI-18 instead of PEGI-16, cuz how the fuck Tekken gets PEGI 16 while Balatro, a card game with none of the in-game microtransaction bullshit, gets a PEGI-18?
When it comes to advertising products, as a vendor, it is within your obligation to be communicative and transparent to your potential customers; inclusion of in-game purchases being one of those things that you should inform in advance.
Also, if you're gonna spend real money to those things, then what's the point of giving away that digital fight money? You know, the ones you earned after you win a match? Sure, you'll buy almost every clothes available on the base game, but what if there is nothing left to buy and you still have the overabundance of that money? Where are you gonna spend it on?
The Mii from Temu?
That's if you ever hang out by the Fight Lounge at all, but like every Tekken players I know, they don't give a shit about Fight Lounge or Arcade Quest. That's SF6's World Tour with half the budget.
But then you said, shouldn't there be something you can feel happy about?
Then wtf I'm doing over here gushing at MK1?!
Just because I have something to feel happy about doesn't mean I'm not allowed to shit on it. At the end of the day, anyone will find anything to complain about, and yes, I do have a fair share of complains, which mostly comes from the greedy company and para-social freaks in the fanbase that cuts the game's life support, but hey, sometimes...being mid is enough. When shit is good, there is a very high expectation that you can make another shit just as good, or better. When they tried to make shit "better", they only think they did it better, which end up making shit worse, and it comes down to one greedy executive guy cutting shit down as they generate these decisions from soulless data research within a business perspective instead of an artistic one, regardless of the money they spent on that project. That, is what you should be worried about. That, is a sign that they don't trust their artists and the community they built upon.
I like MK, because despite of its flaws, I can see a lot of passion for the characters and what they built. I can't say the same thing for the writing decision. You guys literally made a petition to fire the writer the moment it includes a ship you despised for how much you were hung up over another, and you guys are also being freaky at the voice actors/face models, just for the way you associate them with the characters they portrayed, and you think I wanna trust you guys over which ship is "morally legal"?
My country banned the shit out of BL novels and any other queer books from existence. I got no time for discussing which ship is "illegal" and "problematic" cuz anything is a problem in the eyes of the government anyway. They already had a list of games to ban and if MK survived, it's still gonna be the first at the chopping block and the game is already banned in so many conservative countries...including Japan.
And shipping is where you draw the line?
That's such a first-world problem, bro.
End of rant
