I was at the Frankfurt Book Fair today, one of the biggest book fairs world wide. This year's guest country was France, so as expected, there were a number of exhibitors with comics from France or other French speaking countries. I found a number of them quite intriguing, for example Seul survivant by Thomas Martinetti and Jorge Miguel or Dr Watson by Stéphane Betbeder and Darko Perovic.
They had a number of exhibitors and events for self-publishing authors or people considering having their work published. Some of the talks were actually quite interesting.
There are always many cosplayers in really amazing costumes around and this year they even dedicated a whole hall to cosplay.
One exhibitor, Ideentanke, had some really great ideas about transmediality. They presented a book, Detox, where readers get additional information which isn't necessary for the main plot trough videos or pictures linked within the text. Then there was Dragon Maker, a project offering QR codes for books, letting readers with an 3D printer print a model of one of the characters or artefacts from the book. As an example, they printed the Dragonbone Chair from Tad William's triology Memory, Sorrow, Thorn and presented him with it when he visited.

He revealed that there will be a sequel to the triology. I'm really excitied for it. Not only that, but he will at the Dragon Days in Stuttgart next week for an interactive novel contest. Three teams of one author and one developer will prepare the prototype of an interactive novel taking place in Tad William's Osten Ard.
