Sherlolly Model AU
I saw @elennemigo’s awesome gif/pic set this morning to go with @sherlollyappreciationweek’s model AU prompt...and it gave me a little push to fill the prompt as well hehe.
“Ok, a little closer please, Sherlock,” the photographer instructed. “Stand just behind her, nearly touching, and keep your eyes on her profile.”
He complied and a few flashes went off, followed by words of praise from behind the camera.
“Molly, can you turn a bit now? Look up at him, just over your shoulder. That’s it, just like that!”
More flashes as the desired shots were captured.
“Just a moment, let me check what we’ve got so far.”
Sherlock and Molly both relaxed their stance as the photographer left the camera to glance at the laptop screen, taking advantage of any moment they weren’t being meticulously directed.
“You’re not used to working with other models, are you?” Molly asked after taking a quick swig of water nearby the brick building they were posing at.
Sherlock eyed her almost suspiciously for a second. “I prefer not to actually. Alone is how I do my best work.”
She shrugged. “Maybe you’re just afraid.”
He frowned. “Pardon?”
She met his gaze, notably unfazed by his defensive tone. “Afraid of how good you’d be with someone else...and then not being able to do without them.”
Sherlock realized his jaw was hanging open just as the photographer called them back to their position. This was definitely the most challenging photo shoot he’d ever done. Easily the furthest from his comfort zone. Strange that despite that, every inch of him was practically jumping to step in front of the camera with her once again.
“Ok now, Sherlock, I want you to take your leather jacket off and put it around Molly’s shoulders. And Molly, you lean gently back against the wall and look up at him.”
Sherlock did as he was told, draping the luxurious garment around her, gripping the lapels to keep it in place as she was swimming in the thing. All the while, there were those brown eyes holding his, beckoning him downward.
“I’ve loved your work for years, but I don’t think I’ve ever been as impressed as I am today,” Molly whispered, between flashes.
He was only in a white tee shirt now, but Sherlock suddenly felt like he was sweating.
“You don’t-“ He cleared a hitch in his throat. “You don’t know me.”
She answered only by smiling demurely up at him through her lashes.
“Perfect, Molly!” the photographer called out. “Sherlock, place one hand against the wall and reach up with your other and graze her jawline, just lightly with your thumb.”
Sherlock gulped, doing as he was commanded and grazing the soft skin near her chin.
“Maybe not. But I’d, um...like to know you,” Molly added.
“Lean your head down now, Sherlock, forehead touching hers! Nose to nose!”
He barely had to be told because that next move felt as natural as taking his next breath. And speaking of breath, he suddenly felt hers, warm and inviting against his lips.
“I was wondering, maybe some coffee after the shoot?” she suggested.
The jolt of surprise he felt at her suggestion wasn’t because it was an unusual occurrence, a woman coming onto him. But it wasn’t ever like this. This felt far less physical and a lot more...personal. The feeling unnerved him, but in an unexpectedly pleasant sort of way.
“I don’t think so,” he murmured in reply before thinking.
There was naturally a bit of hurt in her eyes as he backed his face away a little and looked down at her. But his answer was really only because coffee was just...not nearly enough. What he needed with this obviously extraordinary woman was time, and lots of it. He wanted to have a leisurely walk to the little fish shop he knew, sit with her to eat and talk, walk some more, and then hopefully get to be this close to her once again, all without an annoying audience. Besides, he’d had his fill of coffee, usually living on the stuff while he was working a shoot. He’d be desperate for a hearty meal once he was done, and surely she could say the same.
The photographer announced that it was time for a wardrobe and location change. Apparently they’d finish up the day’s shoot by the water. Heaven help him, he thought, if they put Molly in a bathing suit. Yes, dinner was definitely the way to go. As Molly slipped his jacket off her shoulders and handed it back to him, he gave her a little smile.
“I have a better idea. Fancy some chips?”

The Three Times James "Bucky" Barnes Broke your heart
This was inspired by @msmarvelwrites 2k Writing Challenge because I'm a sucker for Taylor Swift especially sad Taylor Vibes. I chose the all too well lyrics.
Apparently, I can't do anything small so it's in two parts.
Part 2 Here
Pairs Bucky x Reader and Pietro x Reader. (Not at the same time)
No smut but mentions of sex so 18+
Themes: highschool, cheating, college/uni. Friendship
Words 5659 its Suburban AU.
Winter 2018
You sat on the window seat, head resting on the cool glass a mug of hot chocolate between your hands. Winter in New York was something else, the way everything sparkled in the blanket of snow. This wasn’t your first December in the “Big Apple” but it was your first after moving here. Like the walking cliché you were you had moved here for a Fresh Start, after being offered a once in a lifetime opportunity of working for Tony Stark. You hadn’t planned on taking the job working as head of advertising for Stark Industries. The idea of moving from your small town in Michigan away from your family, everyone you knew and loved, and most importantly away from your best friend and your on-again-off-again boyfriend Bucky seemed ludicrous. You knew James or Bucky as he was to those who knew and loved him would never leave Michigan not if it meant leaving her.
James and you had been friends since, well as since long as you could remember. You had lived on the same street, gone to the same schools, played in the streets on your bikes when you were 8, played in the local park between the ages of 10 and 12. When you both hit 13 everyone assumed you would both either stop being friends or would fall romantically in love. Neither of those happened at least not right away. You two carried on hanging around each-others houses, playing video games and watching movies. Bucky had always been fiercely protective over you, his blue eyes narrowing at anyone who dared to pick on you when you were younger. His eyes would light up when you walked into the room, he loved Friday nights saved just for the pair of you to watch cheesy horror films, lounge around his sofa and stuff your faces with popcorn.
2008
Everything changed when you were 15, you and Bucky had always been inseparable, when no one asked you to combined Prom in your Freshman year, Bucky had surprised you. Showing up at your house dressed in a suit and tie with a white rose corsage, his long brown hair slicked back. You walked downstairs in your ballet slipper pink chiffon dress, your locks twisted into an intricate bun, this was the first time you’d worn heels and you nearly missed the bottom step when you saw Bucky in his Grey Suit stood in your living room. Bucky had tried out for the football team and obviously to no ones’ surprise had become the Star QB. As a result of that Bucky’s grey suit stretched across his muscular frame. Once you’d saved yourself from falling face-first down the last stair you walked over to Bucky grinning like a fool. “Bucky, what, what are you doing here? I thought you were going with Sam and Pietro and the rest of the football team” you said. “Well, I couldn’t leave my best girl flying solo at our first prom now, could I?” Bucky grinned down to you. “Besides the rest of the guys were meeting dates at the dance, so I told them I’d meet them there with you” you felt yourself blush at Bucky’s term of endearment. You and Bucky posed for photos for your Mum and Dad, your Dad trusted Bucky like his own son so there was no awkward father stare down there, you even had your curfew extended to 2 am.
The prom itself was magical, Bucky introduced you to his teammates and their dates. Sam was there with a cheerleader, Jane Foster she was friends with the cool alternative girl Wanda Maximoff who was Pietro’s twin sister they were Sophomores but made you feel welcome at their table. Complimenting your hair and shoes. Pulling you onto the dancefloor to dance with them and the rest of the cheerleaders and co to the pumped-up pop songs that blasted out. The way the gym had been transformed was nothing short of breath-taking, led fairy lights strung up in waves from the ceiling, silver stars hanging against the velvet blue backdrops made you believe you were spending the night under the stars. When the music changed to a slow song -Tim McGraw by an up-and-coming artist Taylor Swift. The Group of girls surrounding you soon dissipated to slow dance with their respective others. You started to make your way back to the table you’d been sat at, happy to finally take a breather when you felt someone tug on your wrist. You turned around fully prepared to slap whatever creep had felt it suitable to touch someone they didn’t know but your face softened to find the familiar blue-eyed, muscular brunette smirking at you. “Miss Y/N” may I have this dance?”, he asked. “Why certainly, MR James Buchanan Barnes” you replied chuckling to yourself. Bucky cocked an eyebrow at the use of his full name before pulling you tight towards him. He wrapped your arms around his neck before wrapping his around your waist. Your breath caught in the back of your throat, you and Bucky had never been this intimate, sure still hugged and had kissed each other on the cheek when you were like 5, but this felt different. The way Bucky enveloped you, the scent of his aftershave mixed with his mum’s washing powder he smelt like cherry blossom mixed with sandalwood. You rested your head on Bucky’s chest, closing your eyes deciding to take this all in. A small smile tugged on your lips as you felt Bucky stroke your hips. You didn’t know it, but he looked at you with such love and adoration and his heart squeezed watching you rest your head on his chest the smile on your pale pink lips. Bucky moved his right hand from your waist and brought it to your cheek, slightly stroking it before lifting your face to look him in the eyes. His eyes shone with affection; his eyes so blue like the ocean you felt like you were drowning in them. Then his lips were on yours crashing against your slightly chapped lips, you cursed yourself for not wearing Chapstick like the cheerleaders and Wanda did. However, as the kiss deepened, and you felt Bucky’s left-hand grip on you together and you melted into the kiss everything else faded away. Bucky drew back and looked at you. Your smile dazzling him as your eyes shone back at him. Neither of you said a word as he pulled you back to his chest whilst the DJ played another slow song.
2009 - 2010
Bucky and you dated from the end of your Freshman year right up until the summer before your senior year. Bucky and you had been inseparable for most of your High School life, he even convinced you to try out for the cheerleading squad in your Junior year, usually you sat on the Side-lines with Wanda and Carol Danvers, it wasn’t that you didn’t want to be a cheerleader it's just you were comfortable being “Bucky’s Girl” the one everyone knew without being in the spotlight, however after Wanda and Carol egged you on saying that you had the moves you went for it. You surprisingly made the squad. You couldn’t wait to tell Bucky, warmth spreading through your cheeks at the thought of how he’d be so proud. You decided to keep it quiet until you had your uniform. Jane and the girls had also promised to keep their mouths shut until you’d had the chance to surprise him. So, when homecoming rolled around, and you got your uniform for the first time you went along to the locker rooms where the football team would be heading off to change before the big pep rally. You stood against the wall one foot pressed against it, your knee bent whilst you waited. You heard Sam and Pietro before you saw them. They turned the corner roughhousing one another playfully. “Looking good Y/N” Sam shouted as he clocked you in your brand-new uniform. “looks like Bucky’s personal cheerleader now cheers for us all,” he said walking over to you and enveloping you in a hug. You giggled and at that moment Bucky Turned the corner with Peter Parker a freshman. He couldn’t see your uniform from the way that Sam’s body was covering yours, but he saw your face and started running down the hallway to you. As Sam and Pietro headed inside, he finally got to see the big reveal, he stopped in his tracks for a second. His eyes taking in every inch of your body, the skirt shorter than anything you owned, the top hugging your curves. He ran over to you picking you up and spinning you in the air as you squealed. “I knew you could do it Doll,” he said as he peppered kisses over your head, cheek, and lips. You blushed at his praise. Your Junior year with Bucky was a blur, between the football games, classes, parties’ dates with Bucky you felt like time was rushing past. You Even won Prom King and Queen at your Junior Prom. To no one’s surprise. However, that summer everything changed.
Summer 2010
You were on holiday with your family, visiting your grandparents in Miami. Every year you for as long as you could remember you and your family would spend the last 3 weeks of summer break at your grandparents. You had begged Bucky to come with you as he had in the past, however, due to football camp, he had been unable to swing it. “Hey, I’m sorry doll, it’s just coach said if I didn’t go he wouldn’t consider me for team captain,” he said hugging you from behind as you sat on your porch steps, his chin resting on your head. He had sworn to you that you would text every day and would skype at least once a week for the three weeks you were there. However, after the first week, Bucky’s texts had become less and less frequent. He’d only Skyped you once and you’d get texts from Various friends asking where you were as you weren’t at the latest party. On the final night of your holiday, as you walked along the beach by yourself taking in the last of the holiday feel your phone rang, you looked down it, confused when the caller Id said, Jane. “Hey, babe. Look I’m not sure how to say this” but uh we’re at a small party at Wanda and Pietro’s there’s about 15 of us, including this friend of mine Nat and uhm well, Bucky’s pretty wasted and well after I noticed I hadn’t seen him for a while I went looking for him”. Jane’s voice sounded stressed. You squeezed your eyes shut as tears tried to escape, not liking where this was going. “And uh, oh god I’m really sorry girl, but I, I kind of walked in on them fucking” Jane blurted it out, going for the band-aid approach as if saying it quicker would make it the cut sting any less. You didn’t say anything, you just stood there staring out the black ocean, the warm sand between your toes, feeling your heartbreak. You couldn’t believe it. Your sweet protective Bucky who had beaten up Miles Morales in 8th Grade for standing you up for an arcade date and breaking your heart. “I, I, I got to go my flights early tomorrow. My, my family will be wondering where I am” you stumbled over your words trying to get off the phone as quick as possible not wanting anyone to hear you cry.
Senior year was one of the most painful years, Bucky had met you at your house the day you got back, sitting on the wooden steps to your porch. He looked like he had barely slept, much like you. You were an only child, but your older cousin who was transferring to Michigan State University for his second year had come home with you. He took a look at Bucky and then back at you, you nodded telling him it was fine and that you had this. He walked inside but not before muttering punk under his breath. Bucky winced, he looked at you his blue eyes that once shone with nothing but love and adoration for you, now looked blank, empty, and almost unrecognisable. His brown hair which he had cut in his Sophomore year looked a mess. He started towards you, but you held your arm out.
“Don’t,” you said. He looked crestfallen and his heart shattered as you struggled to hold yourself together. “Doll, I’m so sorry, I don’t know what came over me, please, look at me, ill make it up to you, it will never happen again” he pleaded with you, his ocean blue eyes stared at your red brimmed eyes, cheeks puffy and streaked from all the crying over the last 16 hours. “Just don’t” You warned him. “Look, baby, it was a mistake, it meant nothing to me” he continued to plead despite your warning reaching out for your hand. His words hit you like a knife, you two hadn’t slept together yet and here he was claiming this meant nothing. You wrenched your hand free from him his touch burning you with his betrayal. “It meant nothing. It meant nothing!?! If it meant nothing you wouldn’t have slept with this Natasha James” you whispered. Bucky flinched at the use of his real name. Oh, how you wanted to shout, thrash scream at him and tell him you would forgive him, but you couldn’t. You had looked up the girls Instagram that night when you laid in bed crying and you couldn’t help but compare yourself to her the gorgeous read head with curves in all the right places. You started to walk towards your house. Unable to keep the tears back and not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing you cry, Bucky called out for you, pleading with you. “I thought you loved me James, but it clearly meant something to you, or else you wouldn’t have thrown away two years of dating and 12 years of dating for sex with someone that wasn’t me, we were meant to be each other’s firsts, but you decided you couldn’t wait to get your dick wet so you went and fucked this chick you’ve known for what 5 minutes?” you cried out in anger, Bucky flinched again as if you’d slapped him. “Actually, I met her last year at one of our away game parties” he mumbled, his feet kicking the dirt around his feet. “I think you should leave” you whispered, choking back a sob before you ran into your house slamming the door behind you.
You and Bucky barely spoke that entire final year of school, you had been voted cheer Captain at the end of the summer semester, much to Jane’s approval, and you loved being a cheerleader, so you threw yourself into that as well as the school’s production of Little Shop of Horrors. You cheered at the games putting on your show face and hyping up the crowds. You wowed in the role of Audrey in the show, avoided parties with the football team and buckled down focusing on your exams and audition for the performing arts programme at the University of Michigan. After Bucky had realised, he was never going to get you to forgive him he had ended up dating Natasha. The news hit you like a sucker punch to begin with but after meeting up with Wanda, Carol, and Jane during the spring break you made your peace with it. You even smiled at Bucky in the hallways when you saw each other. By the time Graduation rolled around you had healed.
November 2011
You ended up getting into the University of Michigan on a partial scholarship thanks to your cheerleading and you were enjoying the performing arts programme, the performing arts programme at the Uni had really blown up after the whole viral “A Very Potter Musical” back in 2009 and you were thrilled to be there. You had settled right in making friends with a young lad from your course Loki Laufeyson right away. He was attractive in an unconventional way, with long black hair, a tall skinny frame but he still had muscles. You two had been cast opposite each other in Romeo and Juliet during your first year and had become good friends. You even ran into Pietro frequently he had gotten a football scholarship and couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw you on the sidelines one November game. Pietro didn’t really “do” social media and hadn’t paid any attention to Wanda as you had told her, after Bucky’s betrayal you hadn’t spoken much with Sam or Pietro, after all, they were his friends and were now Uni students. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t Bucky’s girl,” he said grinning at you after the game, ruffling your hair like you were 5 again. You couldn’t help but wince at the old pet name, everyone in the group had called you it, Sam, Wanda, Carol even Jane but you hadn’t been Bucky’s girl for a year, well longer if you take into consideration the fact he’d been chatting with Natasha on and off for the entire year before they slept together. “It’s just Y/N” or you can call me cutie you said winking at Pietro, he chuckled. “How about I just call you tomorrow?” he retorted, you felt yourself blush. Pietro had always been a cocky confident guy, his silver-blonde hair covering his ice blue eyes, he had always been a hit with the ladies, but he seemed that bit more attractive, slightly leaner, still confident but not arrogant. You shrugged before pulling out a sharpie from your bag, you wrote down your number on his arm. He cocked his head puzzled. “I changed it last year after Bucky wouldn’t stop blowing it up with apology texts,” you said simply. Before Pietro could respond you ran off to join the rest of your squad and headed for the changing room.
True to his charm and word, Pietro called you the next day offering to be your personal guide and show you all the hidden beauty spots of the campus. You accepted; even though you had been here for two months already. You walked around the campus and had a great time, you felt yourself really relaxing and laughing at his corny jokes and the way he wiggled his silver eyebrows at you whenever he made a bad joke. You couldn’t remember the last time you laughed, and you meant really laughed, the kind of clutched over struggling to get air into your lung’s laughter that the Silver-haired, blue-eyed cutie gave you. By the time Pietro had finished his tour the sun was beginning to dip, he walked you back to your dorm ever the gentleman. However, this time when your hands brushed against each other he grabbed your hand and spun you around. His hand was cool and smooth, a stark difference to Bucky’s warm calloused hands. The pair of you walked back hand in hand in comfortable silence. When you got to your dorm you leant against your door, your eyes meeting Pietro’s ice blue eyes, the almost sparkled. Pietro positioned himself so that he had one hand above your head, the other to your side trapping you between the door and himself. He leant down and kissed you. It was soft and delicate, his cool lips sucking the air out of your lungs. He pulled away winking at you before he sauntered off to join his teammates at some frat party.
That was the beginning of a three-year relationship with Pietro, you two had been on multiple dates, some official, some were just bumping into each other at the same party and then spending the rest of the evening together all through November and early December of your first year. He even came to support you at your Cheerleading competitions. Neither of you had put a label on it, but he had changed his home screen to a picture of the pair of you, it was one captured by Peter Parker, funnily enough, he was visiting the Uni with his photography club and captured the moment Pietro had picked you up after the Wolverines won their 6th game. He spun you around before dropping you down and kissing your forehead. Pietro didn’t know that you had seen his home screen. However as you were both travelling home for the Holidays you had agreed to travel together, Pietro had offered to drive but you had refused. Telling him that it would be easier for you to drive as you would be running lines late and therefore you could swing by his apartment on the way out of town. It was only a short drive to Dearborn but with the extra holiday traffic, you estimated it would take at least an hour to get to your parents. You connected your iPod to the car via AUX and pulled up your playlist you had made for the drive. You avoided all Christmas songs, and you were sick of them they played everywhere you went. Instead, you opted for Taylor Swift, damn she had blown up since 2008.
After about 30 minutes of driving as you hit the peak of the holiday traffic, you leant over to turn down the volume of your music. Comfortable with the pace of the traffic, you turned your head to Pietro. “So,” you began. “What’s up Bunny?” Pietro asked snapping his eyes up from his phone. “Well, I just thought now might be a good time to talk, we’re obviously going to run into a lot of our old friends, and there’s no way Wanda won’t know something is going on here, and I, I saw your lock screen,” you said, you could feel yourself blush, there was something about Pietro, he made you feel like a high school sophomore all over again. “So you were wondering what we are?” the amusement in Pietro’s voice didn’t escape your notice, you could feel yourself getting embarrassed. Of course, he was a college Sophomore, you two had never had the exclusive talk, how could you be so silly. You stared straight ahead focusing on the slow-moving traffic. Oh god, you wanted to die. Pietro noticed the change in your demeanour and instantly felt bad, he grabbed your right hand from the steering wheel. “Hey Bunny, look at me,” he said softly, you turned your head to face him. “We are exclusive, we are a couple, I’m sorry you felt the need to ask, but I adore you, so we are a thing,” he said stroking circles on the back of your hand. You smiled and nodded to yourself.
Almost everyone had made it back for the Holidays, excluding a few people, Bucky, Carol, and Jane, they all had their reasons, but you couldn’t help but feel a little sad that Carol and Jane had been unable to make it back. Wanda was elated for you and Pietro, to your surprise she threatened Pietro and not you. Christmas break came and went all too quickly. Pietro even brought you a small gift even though he didn’t celebrate Christmas, what with being Jewish. He was also very touched at your gift a small, framed copy of the photo of his lock screen, only in black and white except for the ribbon in your hair, the number on his Jersey matching his number painted on your cheek. The next year also seemed to rush by, between keeping on top of your studies, your rehearsals for the play, football matches, nationals for your cheerleading competition. It felt like you had barely any time to breathe.
2012
The summer between your 1st year and 2nd year was a small respite, Pietro had decided to stay in his apartment for the summer, he had a summer job and you decided to stick around after trying out for a local theatres summer production of Grease, unsurprisingly you had been cast as Patty Simcox a cheerleader. “How ironic, my little cheerleader playing a cheerleader” Pietro joked. You just rolled your eyes at him, that night Pietro stayed in your dorm, you were going to have to move out for the summer, your roommate for the year had decided she was going to move into her Sorority House next year and was going home for the summer. You and Pietro were cuddled up on the sofa watching Grease, you had your legs over Pietro and the arm of the sofa. To your surprise, Pietro had confessed he’d never seen it and had asked you to watch it with him so he could see who you would be playing. You let out a sigh. “What’s up bunny?” he asked not taking his eyes of the movie, he was rubbing small circles on your legs. “Student housing emailed me today, they said since Sophie is moving out and going home for the summer. I can’t stay in my dorm this summer. I’m trying to figure out where to go as the apartment I want to rent isn’t available until August” you said, blowing your hair out of your face. “Move in with me for the summer,” Pietro said without skipping a beat. “We’re not going to be around much in the daytime, you’ve spent a lot of nights at mine recently and it’s just for the summer, theirs a spare bedroom where you can store your stuff, and Wanda will be visiting in 3 weeks, it’s no big deal,” he said as he continued rubbing circles on your legs. You stared at him for a moment, your mind racing. “Okay,” you said nervously biting your lip. “Okay, I’ll move in for the summer,” you said again this time sounding surer of yourself. You picked up the remote and pressed pause on the DVD. You and Pietro had been dating for most of the school year, and he had been nothing but a gentleman never pressuring you for more than you were comfortable with, he knew Bucky had hurt you and you still hadn’t had sex yet as a result of it. You stood up a peeled of your jumper, Pietro cocked his head with his cute, puzzled expression. You didn’t say anything, instead, you removed your athletic shorts leaving you in nothing but one of Pietro’s football jerseys and your panties. You walked to your bedroom. Pietro didn’t move. After a few moments of waiting for him to follow you walked to your door frame and coughed, Pietro looked at you. “Well, are you coming or not handsome?” you asked leaning against your frame, so his jersey rid up slightly exposing the skin of your stomach. Pietro chucked his phone on the sofa before throwing you over his shoulder. That night you and Pietro had sex for the first time.
December 2012
Summer came and went in a blur of a heatwave, and lots of sex. You moved into your apartment off-campus, you spent a lot of time hanging out with Loki between classes, throwing ideas back and forth for an original piece you had to work on for the spring showcase. Pietro and you would always ride to games together, with Pietro being in his third year, the team bus rides were no longer compulsory and as the college couldn’t afford for the squad to have a bus you had to make your own way to the away games anyway. You and Pietro had driven home for Winter break, your family had decided to head to Boston this year, that way your cousin could see his family, however as you and Pietro had a game two days after New Years it didn’t make sense for you to fly out for such a short period off time. This was your first Christmas in years where you wouldn’t be seeing your family, or even celebrating really. However, Wanda and her Mum had insisted Pietro bring you home with him for the winter break. So that was how you found yourself sat in Pietro and Wanda’s basement drinking beer and hanging out with the old gang along with some new faces. Carol had brought home her girlfriend Valkyrie, Jane and Sam were there, even Peter Parker who was now a senior was there he’d even brought his girlfriend Gwen with him. Wanda had brought home her Boyfriend James or Vision as he was affectionately known. Wanda was studying Fashion in NYC; Vision was studying IT and was a whiz with technology. You were cuddled up in the corner of the sofa with Pietro, he was playing some game with Sam and Peter and you were scrolling through your IG feed. Taylor Swift’s latest Album Red playing through the speakers. Pietro had groaned but with Sam being a secret Swifty he was quickly outvoted. You kissed Pietro’s cheek getting up to grab another bottle of beer each. You were technically underage for another few months, but Wanda’s mum had said if you were going to drink whilst you were here, she’d rather you did it under her roof in a safe controlled manner.
You heard him before you saw him. Being the gracious guest you are, you had noticed the beer was low in the fridge, so you were restocking it when you heard Bucky’s familiar laugh. You may have made peace with what Bucky had done but other than a quick congratulations and farewell at Graduation you hadn’t spoken since that summer back in 2010.
Bucky walked over to the fridge, you had changed your hair colour since you’d last seen him at Graduation in 2011, your usual hair was now a chocolate brown, you had your head in the fridge still when he coughed. “Hi I’m Bucky,” he said. You took a deep breath, grabbed three bottles of beer and pulled your head out of the fridge, turning around to face him. “I’m well aware who you are, Bucky,” you said handing him a beer. Bucky’s eyes widened as his ocean blue eyes reached yours. “Hey Buck,” you said softly. “Y/N. I didn’t recognise you” he grinned, moving to hug you. You let it happen, standing stiffly in his arms. “Yeah it's been a minute, how’s school, and Natasha, I heard you got into UDM?” you asked shooting him a smile before twisting the lid of your bottle. “Yeah, I did. Schools great kicking my ass a bit and Natasha and I broke up actually” he said avoiding eye contact with you. You and Bucky made polite conversation for a few minutes Pietro finished up his game with Sam and Peter, noticed you hadn’t returned so made his way over to you and Bucky. “Hey Bunny,” he said kissing the corner of your head before wrapping his arms around you. “Hey Buck, long time no see!” Pietro said. Bucky stood frozen for a few seconds processing what he had just witnessed. “Hey, Pietro Yeah. It's been a hot minute, so you two are a couple? You guys look cute congrats. Oh man, wow is that Peter over there? I barely recognise him I’m going to go say hey. Catch you guys later!” Bucky said practically running over to Peter. You turned around and kissed Pietro. “Come on Quicksilver, let’s see if I can beat you at Mario Kart,” you said pulling him over to the sofa.
December 2012 – August 2014
Winter break came and went. Your second year at Uni whizzed past. Pietro even joined you and your family for your annual summer vacation in Miami, your grandparents were getting on a bit so you decided to skip the summer production of Hairspray. By the time, your third year rolled around you and Pietro settled into a routine between school, studying, games and rehearsals you would steal kisses in the hallways, meet one another at classes with hot drinks, coffee for Pietro not that he needed a boost of energy and usually a hot chocolate for you. After football games, Pietro would drive you back to his apartment. If it were a rare free evening, you’d curl up with a movie at yours. Hanging onto the small moments of peace. You both knew Pietro was going to be moving to New York after he graduated. He’d been studying business and was going to start a fashion company with Wanda. You also both knew that long-distance wasn’t going to work, you’d been majoring in performing arts, but you had also been taking extra courses to help with a career in advertising as a backup. Saying your goodbyes to one another sucked ass. You and Pietro had left your annual Miami holiday a week early to spend a week in Florida visiting the Theme Parks, Wanda and Vision were also going to meet you there. Neither of you had grown up exceptionally wealthy, but Wanda and Pietro’s dad Max Eisenhardt had reached out to them a few years back and had insisted on paying for the four of you to have a group vacation. He had tried to convince Wanda and Pietro to book a holiday in Germany where he was living but they had refused. Pietro had already packed up his apartment and moved most of it back to his family home whilst you finished up school for the year. He had been staying with you for the summer before joining you on your vacation so when you headed to the airport it was time to say your goodbyes. “Be good Bunny, don’t cause too much mischief with Loki and stay in touch. I love you my little Bunny” he said wiping the tears from your eyes. You couldn’t say anything, so you just held him tight and cried.
Tagging the bestie @lannycleave because I have promised to write a sad Steve one as a way to punnish myself

Into the Casino Ch12
The trip back home wasn't anything he hadn't been expecting. She was quiet for the most part with only gazing out the window and him patting her arm in reassurance and smiling in glee. He had made good progress today. Found out a whole bunch of stuff for his curious mind to disect like a frog in class and exploit it when the time was right. But for now, he preferred to get home and get some greatly deserved rest. And that they did. But Amalfia still couldn't shake the....strange feelings she that was still bouncing around her skull. Mostly around one particular issue....Who was Lou? Now that question could easily be answered with 'He's your boss of course.' or 'He's the guy courting you.'. Or another number of things. The casino's owner. The one who helped her. Mr. Lou- But she wasn't interested in that. She still got a strange feeling whenever she stared into those red eyes. They held something behind that smile. She tried asking Cyber about him....buuut
"Eh- I don't think it's my place to really say. Everyone's past down here is personal to them. Why don't you ask him yourself? Ain't he supposed to be the one you're dating or something?" And her answer told her if she asked anyone else they would give the same answer or refuse...Frankly she did ask once or twice more about the topic, but he expertly dodged it and changed the topic back to her and asked her questions on her likes and interests. Not that she didn't appreciate he seemed to want to know about her but she barely knew anything about him. And this wasn't about to be another one sided romance with a man she barely knew. She wasn't about to be put through that thing again. Not if she could help it. But that idea was pushed back for now because after a few days of her normal routine of waking up by Cyber and working on whatever list Lou gave her for the day, she was surprised when one day when Lou came up and announced they were again going to that side shop he knew and getting her a new dress for her. She blinked and asked why. He chuckled. "The ball of course.~ You don't think I would let a beautiful young lady like yourself go in just any dress, did you? Oh no, no. My dear. Nothing but the best for the woman I ...adore.~" So once again she was whisked off into the car, down to the Black Market, and taken into that little clothes shop. But this time he introduced her to the small ladies who ran the place and beckoned her to be taken to the back...Well she wasn't to be taken back there by herself with two absolute strangers and gripped onto him as one tried to reach out to take her. Making Lou raise a brow and get to play the hero as he gently assured her and brought her into the back room himself. After explaining exactly what they were looking for, in Lou's words: "I want something resembling the radiance and grace of a peacock. I trust you ladies to work your magic with what I pay you." She blinked up at his request and rose a brow. A peacock? He wasn't going to ask her what she wanted in the dress? She didn't have to ask when she was ushered by the women and was made to pose out as they took measurements of around her midsection and chest, height, and strangely enough her arms. All the while she nervously glanced back between them and Lou who always gave a smile and those strange red eyes. And funnily enough, as soon as they were done it was time to go back home. All of that which took the amount of one hour to happen. He had no interest in stopping anywhere else it seemed, wanting to hurry and get her back home. In their hurry she didn't even notice Cyber had tagged along until she was back in the car. ...He was that much in a hurry huh? But once and a while-...The question and worries would still bounce around and cause her to sometimes space out in thought. But other than that, she didn't think about it once...That was until she was gathering dirty laundry to clean and when she picked up the very same dress Cyber had her squeeze into before that 'date' and wouldn't you know it? A small pink piece of paper slide out and she almost missed it if the golden shiny words written on it hadn't shimmered in the light and caught her eye as it landed by her hooves. Making her pause and blink at it. She slowly bent down and picked it up, bringing it too her face to read the small print. And those eyes lit up. This was-...This is the card Rita had handed to her. And the words were still neatly printed and bold enough for her to read the address and name of the club she owned. And an their conversation came rushing back to her. "W-Well he knows Mr. Charles-"
"Oh! Trust me. Those two know each other very well. They have past connections through their second businesses...Still do."
... ..... ......?!
Charles KNEW Lou. And he knew enough it seemed about him to have an actual past and enough to hate him....He could answer all your questions, a small voice whispered to her and her eyes widened. She could find out exactly what he was like. What he did. WHo he was. Her body lighting up at the excitement of it all....Before it all came crashing down. She wasn't sure how Lou would feel about her leaving let alone going to one of his rivals and talking with a man who clearly made it clear they hated each other even if Lou's smile hid it very well. He would definately be against the idea if he didn't tell her no first....And that's when the idea came to her. She quickly tucked the card into her dress pocket and grabbed the laundry. She had a certain set of Rules to check. ***************************************************************************************************** The familiar clanking footsteps of Cyber's feet came down the hallway. Another day of waking up Fuzzy and getting her groggy self ready to go do whatever Lou decided to haul her around to do. He was certainly enjoying taking his time with this whole take over plan. He was acting most days as if there wasn't any plan and looking through schedules and taking care of the fools betting souls and watching the flow of new ones steadily come to him. It what made him the powerhouse he was...but if this whole scheme of using her magic worked...he just might become one of the new overlords. She saw the lust for power he always had when he made contracts or one a particularly hefty pile of souls to add to his ever growing power and collection. But it always increased by a large amount when he spoke of the many things he wanted to do with her magic once he figured out how to extract it from her. But she still thought the party was a stupid idea. Too many people could see her for what she really was and it could turn into a real problem. She has TRIED to explain it too him- "I don't think this is a good idea, Boss. What if someone sees her? The horn is a pretty dead give away." "Cyber, you underestimate me. 'Sides, no one really feels any energy off her correct?" "Well...no. She radiates about as much energy as the janitor. But those outbursts though, big crowds and curious demons has a high possibility of causing a trigger to that magic, and to be honest...That one thing I might not fully be able to save you from." "Oh, trust me. I rarely ever make mistakes. And I have thought long and hard about this choice. If someone does find out or Rita blabbers her mouth, then we'll get 'curious' people who might want to take a peak and id the decide they want my dear pet for themselves, then it could cause quite the problem. Especially if someone on a higher level of magic and power catches wind of her." His red eyes narrowed slightly as if the thought made him slightly angered. "I already put too much time and effort into this already to have any set backs, and the very last thing I need is her dead or falling into someone else's hands.....Keeping her a secret is key, but now that word must've already gone around by the few times we went out ...and Rita- It'd be wiser to let others see she's 'weak'. Let them think I'm only humoring another woman for amusement like Rita already thinks. Hiding her now would only cause suspicion." Dang it! She hated when he had good points. But right now she had to wake someone up. So it was quite a surprise to her when she opened the door to shake her awake and she wasn't laying on the bed. Which looked made like no one slept in it at all. And the room was empty as well...Cyber blinked...Where was- "Cyber!" She whirled around to find said unicorn all groomed and dressed, holding a peice of paper, and smiling. "Sorry if I wasted your time, but I decided to get up early today to get my list done." She lightly shook the paper. Cyber still paused studying her but relaxed with a smile. "Finally getting used to the work schedule, huh?" "Oh yeah! Im hoping to finish everything Lou wanted me to do by noon. I wanted to ask him something important, but I think I can only do it i-if everything's finished before then." "Oh..And how do you figure that?" "Im in charge of his schedules. He's supposed to be meeting with an important client from the black market today about trading good with him." She rose a brow and hummed. "Well, if that's the case, then I guess I better head back. He'll be needing me on the floor if you're already up." Amalfia nodded. "That's what he told me. He's waiting for you by the lounge, and don't worry about breakfast. I made sure the cook made you and him something." Her brow rose further as she hummed again and made her way past her. Oh she was up to something. It was clearly obvious and she wasn't trying to hide it. So that begs the question. What was it? ..Lou was pretty interested too when he was informed, but he merely chuckled and told her they would wait for noon and see what she intended on planning on asking him. In the meantime, the busy floor easily took up their time as Lou did the usually laugh and greeting. Encouraging some poor bloak to bet more than needed or speaking with a curious few people who looked interesting to him. Every once and a while they would catch sight of her quickly running past with something in her hands or going somewhere on the upper floors, but that was about it. LOu raising an amused brow everytime she did go past. Time pasted. And guess who finally showed up to talk with him. The dirty man was definately from the scummier side of the city but Lou still smiled, shook his hand, and offered to escort him to his office where he usually conducted business...the one with carniverous plants and a heavy duty door in case things went south or if he wanted to do 'extra' persuasion. And on the way up, there wasn't any signs of Fuzzy anywhere. Guess she was busy doing something. So they opened the office door, gestured for the man to enter, he did, and was about to go in themselves- "LOU!! W-Wait!!" He paused and looked up amused when a white blur came jogging down the hallway towards them both. He watched with a smile as she stopped and leaned over with a wheeze. Trying to catch her breath from darting all the way down from where ever she came from. "I-I...*sigh* f-finished e-everything." "Marvelous. This must've been your fastest time yet. Now you can have the rest of the day off yo relax." He opened the door more and was about to enter when a rather rough tug was received on his arm and he was actually turned around by the desperate looking unicorn and ..paused in shock for a brief moment. "W-Wait! I-..I n-need to ask you something.'' "Darling, Im always happy to answer your questions, but as you can see-" He gestured to the inside of his office. "I have a very important meeting t-" "I want you to let me go out somewhere on my break." She snapped interrupting him. Which was a..minor shock to him. She had never done something like that before during her stay...how long has it been now? Almost a full year. Time seemed to slip by when you were planning and had her do the same things everyday. Her face was determined and her hands were still wrapped around his arm in a tight grip-...He blinked and quickly recovered. Cyber having an almost confused look. "Now why in all hell would you want to do a thing like that? Demons out there would use you like a rag doll til you were nothing but broken pieces on the sidewalk-" "According to your employee policy, which I happened to have read the whole thing last night-" She interrupted him again making him pause. "- employees are permitted to leave to other places on t-their break but to be back before their break ends and as long as they report to you or your floor manager first, and since I have the rest of the day that means I just have to get back before nighttime. Which according to your own policy is eight thirty for most day staff including me." ....He opened his mouth- "I want to go out and I-..." She inhaled. "I w-want to visit Rita's." Silence. Cyber blinked, caught off guard by what just came out of her mouth and one look to Lou, told her he was definitely not prepared for something as bold as that. As he just paused and stared down to her with a blank expression...before that smile came back and he gave a huff of dry laughter. "Now why on earth would you even want to go to a place like that? A pure being such as yourself would be eaten alive there-" "She invited me." Technically that wasn't a lie. Rita did invite her to drop by sometime for a chat even if it was never a personally invitation. Lou how ever gave slight narrowed eyes with that smile at the now suspicious situation. But paused again when he felt something on his hand and one dart to it gave him an answer as she intertwined their fingers with one hand, small rose ring glimmering on it, and her face turned into one of pleading. "P-Please. ...D-Do it as a favor for me. A-And I promise I'll make it up to you later." .....Red eyes blinked back to her. Those purple eyes giving an honest look...and something jolted in him."....I" "HEY!!" They all turned to the impatient looking man waiting for him. "Are we conducting business or are you playing cutsie with the dame?" "Oh..Of course! This won't be but a moment!" He slowly turned back to her with a forced smile. Cyber could tell right away he was holding back the urge to just say no for sake of not being rude to her and ruin any progress he had made....But this was RITA they were talking about and Charles was there....Those two could easily ruin everything. But for some reason....This gal was dead set on going and by the sudden surprise and bold display they just witnessed, she wasn't about to take no easily....He could've just easily let Cyber take her but...his eyes side glanced back to the man. This guy claimed to have angelic weapons. Usually most if not all were instantly bought off the market usually by higher and the strongest demons to increase their own strength and to help prevent these things from being used on themselves. He had a chance to gain quite a few if this gentleman did hae some like he claimed and if this deal went right...Which means he NEEDED Cyber's backup......Which meant his brain had to bust into over drive and form a plan quickly....And this one involved the only other capable person he could trust at this moment. With a sharp inhale between clenched fangs, he turned back to her with a smile. "Very well....but on the condition. You don't go alone. Cyber and I are in a very important meeting so Disease will be accompanying you there and back...I would like you to stay close to him. If you agree, then you may go." She stared at him, before sighing and giving a smile with a nod of the head. "Y-Yes. Yes! Of course!" He hummed and turned to Cyber. "Get him immediately. Now." She didn't have to be told twice as she literally ran off without saying another word and he sighed- The further closing of her hand around him made him look back to her smiling face..and pause again. "T-Thank you. I-I know how you must feel about this, but I have to do it....I-It'd be rude to not show up." "...Yes. Not showing up when expected can be rude." They stayed like that for a few seconds, tensely waiting and while they were she slowly released her grip from his hand. He slowly flexed his squeezed fingers out, looking to them for just a moment, before putting his arms behind him back just in time to see Cyber rushing around the corner with a confused Disease in tow. He blinked as she pushed him forward and they stopped right in front of them. "Uh...You wanted me?" He sighed. "Yes. My darling here-" He nodded to her. "-wishes to visit..R-Rita." Disease blinked confused. "Myself and Cyber can't be spared and Midnight would probably...not do as good of a job as your could." He hated admitting this but Disease smirked up at his compliment anyways. "I need you to take her there and back. Do you understand what Im saying?" The snake man gave a salute and smile. "No problemo, Bosssss. Ssshould be there and back in no time!" Amalfia beemed and sighed in releif- "Hey! Are we doing business or not!?" She jumped and quickly began walking away from the door. "Ok. Thank you, Lou. Ill be back. Bye." She mumbled quickly as she scurried off. Disease was quick to make a move after her, but gagged and gave a tiny yelp when Lou grabbed the hood part of his hoodie and turned him around to face the bright red eyes that narrowed at him. "Listen good. Watch her every move carefully, and do NOT leave her alone with Rita or any of those workers." A grimace can over his features. "I don't need her findout out any information that could scare her off. Im counting on those abilities of yours, Disease. Do NOT let me down." Disease merely gave a thumbs up before wriggling out of his hold and dashing off in the direction she left. With a sigh he stood back straight up and rubbed his face. This wasn't what he wanted to get into right now, and one look to Cyber told him she was mentally saying the same thing he was. 'I don't like this'. But he didn't have time to think on it right now. With a forced smile he turned back to the scruffy looking man. "Now. Where were we?"

ive never seen anywhere to watch motorcity with subs? so i went looking and found transcripts of most of the early mc episodes (available in a reply so tumblr doesnt kill the post) but theyre missing a few towards the end. i decided on my fourth rewatch that id transcribe episode 9! whether youre a hard of hearing fan or just want the reference, here you go! let me know if the initials are annoying, ill edit them out.
-I got you with the slash!
-Nuh-uh!
-You first.
-Why me?
-Cuz you're dead anyway.
-There's nothing down here!
-Philip? S- stop fooling around, man. I- I can hear you down there.
-Aah!
[theme]
-The last time I bought anything from you, it took me a week to fumigate the kitchen!
-Okay, the reshcaps were a mistake, you're right about that. But today, I have something extra special...
D- ...then she says, 'that's why I can't eat the sandwich!'
[all laugh]
C- Wait, wait, I got one. Where does a snowman keep his money? In a snow bank! Eh? Get it? Come on, it's funny!
Th- We're searching for the Vanquisher, king of the realm?
T- Oh. I think they're talking about me.
M- Yeah, I have no idea who you're-
Th- There he is!
Burners- Chuck?!
T- [laughter]
R- Hey! You dare insult Lord Vanquisher? I should take your tongue and feed it to the birds.
T- Uh, you can't do that. I need my tongue.
C- Release him, Darkslayer.
R- ... Fortune smiles upon you today.
M- So, Chuck, you wanna introduce us to your... friends?
C- Guys, allow me to present: Thurman the Magnificent, and Ruby the Darkslayer!
Th: We are knights of the kingdom of Raymanthia.
C- It's called LARPing! [...] Live action role-playing? [...] Okay, I have a life outside of the Burners, you know!
D- Sure doesn't look like it.
T- Oh! I get it! Ahahaha!
Th- My Lord, a situation has arisen. The oracle awaits.
O- As you requested, Sam and Phillip were dispatched on a scouting mission early this morning. But we have not heard from them for many hours.
M- What do you mean you haven't heard from them?
O- I fear, Lord Vanquisher, they have gotten lost on the outskirts of the realm.
T- Texas is confused. Okay, now is this part of your little game or is this real?
D- We're standing behind some dude's van who calls himself the oracle. What do you think?
O- I demand silence!
J- I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm with Texas on this one.
O- Chuck! Make em stop.
C- Wait. Is this part of the game?
Th- No. Sam and Philip are really missing.
M- So, this is for real?
O- We need your help.
C- I vow to find our wayward kinsmen.
C- Guys, this is LARPing!
T- Woah. That's it?
C- Each weekend, teams battle for control of the realm. The rules are simple: First, once you step onto the field of battle, you must remain in character. Second, if you must be vanquished: do so with honor. It's neat, ain't it?!
J- The game's already started?
R- If by 'game' you mean a ferocious battle to the death for the crown of Raymanthia, then yes.
O- But we can't win unless we find our friends.
[at the same time]
C- I say we split up.
M- Let's split up.
M- No disrespect! Chuck- uh, I mean, Lord Chuck. What do you think we should do?
C- Ahem! If we split up, we'll cover more ground!
O/Th/R- As you say, Lord Vanquisher.
C- Okay guys. We'll check the warehouse near the old Renaissance center, you guys check the battlefield.
Th- I dunno where that is. Can somebody else drive?
M- So, King Chuck. How'd you win your crown?
O- It happened many weekends ago... Chuck stood as freedom's last hope against Mad Dog the Conqueror. If he were to fall, darkness would reign for yet another long weekend. Mad Dog summoned his dragon to finish off the Vanquisher once and for all, but fate had different plans. It was totally awesome!
C- Naw, it wasn't... that awesome.
D- Little dudes!
J- Sam! Phillip?
D- Where are you?
Guy- Huzzah!
R- Leave this to me!
Guy- The bards shall sing of this day... the day the Darkslayer fell!
R- Someone shall fall on this day... but it shall not be me.
[fighting noises]
Guy- Aha! Tsk, tsk. You've lost your sword!
T- hyah!
R- What are you doing! I had him right where I wanted him!
Guy- You're not playing by the rules.
T- These are Texas rules! [karate noises] Now. We need you to answer some questions.
D- We're looking for two missing kids, Sam and Phillip. Have you seen them?
Guy- I'd rather die a thousand deaths than help the likes of you.
J- Ahem! Forgive us, my liege, but we are but humble squires in search of our kinsmen. Can you help us?
Guy- I've never been one to refuse a lady, certainly not one as ravishing as you. Saw your kinsmen five hours ago, approaching the Dungeon of Anguish.
D- Neat trick.
Th- We're never gonna find them in time. Then the stupid Bardonians are gonna win, think they're all cool with their fancy mustaches.
C- Hey. Buck up there, camper! People said we'd never win the Battle Royale last Fall, but we did. Our friends are out there, and we'll find em! We just gotta keep-
M- Uh, sorry. Dutch just called. Your friends were seen someplace called the Dungeon Anguish?
Th- It's actually the Dungeon of Anguish.
C- It's, uh. Well, it's actually just in the basement right here.
C- Wah, ah! Get it off me, get it off me!
Th- This isn't part of the game!
M- Yeah, well, neither is this!
R- That was. Incredible!
D- What were those things?
M- Don't know. But I'm betting they have something to do with our missing friends. We have to move. [LARPers kneel] Uh, come on. Get up, guys, we don't have time for this.
O- From this day forth, you shall be known as "Mike, the Smiling Dragon."
Th- You just got a great name. Jealous!
C- For saving my life on the field of battle, I owe you a debt of life.
M- That's... really not necessary.
O- Actually, it's totally necessary. The king of the realm cannot rule while carrying a debt of life.
C- As such, I give the crown to the Smiling Dragon!
M- No. No, Please, look, I can't, I just- I was-
C- Mikey, you gotta!
J- Hey guys, check this out! I've never seen that symbol before.
D- That's really old.
M- Way before my time. Maybe Jacob can help.
Th- What if those... things have Sam and Phillip?
R- Never fear. We have the Smiling Dragon. As long as he's our king, we can't lose. Did you see his moves? They were just so- so-!
M- You okay, buddy? Look, if it's about what happened back there, I'm sorry man. I was just trying to help.
C- It's not that. It's just-
M- Just what?
C- Look, I tripped, okay?
M- Um... If that's some kind of LARPer slang, I have no idea what it means.
C- The story you heard. About how I earned my crown? That's not how it really... went down. It was my first real battle. I'd never held a real lance before. I was still getting my balance when Lord Mad Dog summoned his dragon... I ran forward but... I tripped. The lance fell and hit him by accident! I won my crown with a lie. Hey... it's better that you're king now. I was never fit for the post. I've been king for 48 consecutive weekends, and-
M- 48? Woah, you do play this game a lot.
C- Yeah, but... it took less than an hour of LARPing with you for the others to see me for what I truly am... a follower.
M- Hey, a follower couldn't have led his team to 48 consecutive victories. You can't fake that!
C- Mikey... Look, I appreciate your support but we both know I'm no leader. Not when I'm a Burner and not even when I'm here, playing make believe.
M- Here. Take the pin back.
C- You can't just give it to me! The only way I can get it back is to earn it by saving your life. And let's be honest. That ain't gonna happen.
Th- Never seen that tunnel before. You aren't planning on taking us down there, are you?
R- Well I'm going in!
Th- Do you know how much trouble I'll get in if my mom finds out I went down some crazy dark tunnel looking for killer robots?!
O- He's not joking. His mom is terrifying.
M- They're right. This isn't a game anymore. Texas will stay up here and keep you safe while we go get your friends.
T- What! Wait, why me?
M- Because you're the bravest warrior we've got.
T- Yeah, that's true, but come on! Don't leave me with the nerds!
D- What is this place?
O- Booyah! Mutant wolverine. I win!
Th- I could show you how to use that.
T- Save it. Not interested.
O- Why not? You're really good.
T- You really think so?
Th- Here, watch.
T- Hyah! Huh?
T- Mike, Julie! Incoming! We got trouble!
Th- Come on, I just got this!
O- Your mom is gonna be so mad.
J- This isn't working!
M- I'm open to suggestions!
R- A wizard!
Ja- Applesauce!
J- Jacob?
R- Aww!
Bot- The creator has returned!
M- Uh, Jacob? Care to fill us in?
Ja- It started back when Kane and I were partners- before there even was a Deluxe! I was designing our first ever Utility Bot. Its purpose was to make life in Detroit easier and safer. I equipped it with a new AI that would allow the bot to anticipate human commands, but I was the only one the bot seemed to listen to. But if it were ever to escape the lab, there's no telling the danger it could pose. I begged Kane to shut the program down! I always thought he did.
Bot: It began soon after you left us. Kane retrained us! We were instructed to capture enemies of the public and bring them back to Kane's new creation, an Interrogator. But the humans could not control it. Kane sealed the lab. Our new master told us every human was out to destroy us. As such, every human became our enemy. Disloyalty was severely punished. So we waited, until this door finally opened.
M- Our friends went missing this morning. Have you seen them?
Bot- Of course. We took them per our master's instructions.
J- We need to get them back!
[roar]
Bot- Our master has awoken. If he discovers you here with us, he will destroy us.
M- Get the LARPers out of here!
C- I'm not leaving you guys!
R- Our place is here, with our King!
M- This isn't a game! Get your friends to safety.
C- Let's move!
D- Come on!
J- Look out!
[rubble collapses the door]
T- Mike!
D- Julie!
Both- Jacob!
D- We'll never move this stuff by ourselves!
T- Says who?
Th- What do we do?
C- I know a way to get through there! But I will require your van.
Ja- There used to be another exit!
J- Hey, look at this!
M- The kids have to be in one of those rooms. If we can find a way past that thing we can rescue them and get the heck out of here! Think you can buy us some time?
J- Do you even have to ask? Hey, ugly! Over here!
M- Sam! Phillip! Climb up here!
S- You're the new king of the realm?
M- You bet your butt I am. Lord Smiling Dragon, at your service. Now get up that rope, squire!
T- Okay, I admit. It's pretty cool.
C- But is it possible?
D- Sure. But there's no way the three of us can build it fast enough.
C- What if they helped?
D- I know you don't mean the little lunatics that just tried to kill us!
Bot- We cannot get involved. If our master were to find out-
C- He's not your master! You are in Raymanthia. And in Raymanthia, every man- or... freaky little Utiliton- is free! Free to stand up for yourselves. Free to fight back! And free to live! I'd love to know more about your characters, but I don't know where to start with questions. ;v; Could you tell us a few facts about each of them we might not know? 'v'
((I think I'll do a quick recoup for everyone, as the blog has been around for more than 2 years already, and some story bits are quite far in the past - so beware of a really long post

Fukase, nicknamed by this here fool of the mun Red Boi
He's a V class cyborg of F558.x build, with the lower case x pointing that his build was experimental. In his case, the experiment was in creating a possible spy build with extra adaptive abilities, and to achieve this the DNA was spliced with some cephalopods and who knows what. The results left the DNA unstable, leaving the build with a chance of undergoing permanent changes in their bodies under high stress. But on a positive note, their natural regeneration is outstanding, but kinda hindered by the wrong setup of the regeneration system. In general, there were quite a few programming errors, as it was seemingly decided last minute as to which manufacturers were going to finalise their production and what are the final class they were to be.
Prior to his synchronisation, he was a performer with Yamaha on one of a rather sparsely populated planets. He had an accident during one of performances when the building caught on fire but his system failed to respond in any way, leaving him inside before his absence was noticed. He recovered quickly due to his natural regeneration, but the programmed block of regeneration on the left side of his body left him with burn marks and a need for his left eye to be replaced with an artificial one. (When the spacecraft he's currently on got into a star storm - akin to solar storms here, - his system shut down, allowing the natural regeneration to take over and heal the scars)
After synchronisation, he lived on his own, sometimes travelling to join a friendly Miku in performances when she asked him to.
When he checked in with the scientist overseeing the experiment, due to his regeneration failing he was written off as the final failure in the 558.x project and sent off to the main base of operations to be disposed of, but he was told it was so that he'd be treated for this. F112 caught it and sent him coordinates where they could meet up, since then Fukase has been travelling on the cargo space ship with him, officially not becoming a member of the crew, though.
Personality-wise, he's just a cinnamon roll, with the downside being he's the worst at keeping secrets. He's a guy to say something like "so and so hates this, but they told me not to tell anyone ever", and only then realise he's said something wrong. Other than such slip ups, he's very attentive to others, and might be surprisingly serious and insightful on some issues.
He hasn't had much life experience, and is pretty excited about anything new he learns about, and always tends to point out the best in people and situations. Unless it's him, as he's a bit self-conscious, especially about his unhealthily thin appearance, which leads to him exclusively wearing oversized clothes, especially thick sweaters.
Tumblr media
F112, or Shitsui, or pretty much any way you want to address him (just not Fukase)
He's quite old for a cyborg, being one of the first V class cyborgs to use the second generation CPU that could interact with the brain leading to the "synchronisation", or a cyborg gaining self awareness and personality.
As it was back in the day when cyborgs were viewed as just a cheaper alternative to androids, he was bought, privately owned and treated like a life sized doll for the first 3 years of his life, till his physical and cybernetic systems gave up, and he was taken for dead and quite literally dumped.
He managed to survive by consuming spoiled food found at the dumpster. With him having no sense of taste, his food preferences haven't changed much.
He managed to get away from the centre of the human civilisation here by hiding on different ships going anywhere but just far away. He managed to hack his system, delete most of his programming and "not necessary" databases (which leads to him not being able to talk on mundane topics without using technical terms or rather general words, or results in him not being able to process a question) and installed what he deemed to be useful: weapons, combat and technology related databases.
He went on to work with some space pirates, then with bounty hunters, after working with one specific team on catching a dangerous criminal of one of the alien races he, as well as all members of the team, got full citizenship from that race as a thanks. This made him able to get an id and find a job that doesn't involve risking his life on the daily...
At least, he thought so, as the cargo ship he works on currently is prone to malfunctioning, especially its navigation system, which poses a risk of getting totally not where intended when making a wormhole jump, and getting stranded in the midst of unknown time and space without the chance of recharging the wormhole generator. And being the mainframe maintenance and general techy guy, he's the one who knows the most about how much trouble it actually means.
Before finding this seemingly safe job he found himself on the same planet where Fukase lived, right after the latter got synchronised, received his check and apartment from Yamaha and was literally thrown into the world he wasn't used to and knew nothing about. F112 got a place to live for a time, Fukase got a rather sceptical source of information about the world, both got someone to trust in each other. For the more comfortable and convenient communication, F112 set up a direct channel between the two of them, which he actually never took down and sometimes used to check on Fukase. One of such checks coinsided with Fukase being told to go to the HQ, which made F112 really passionately reach out to him and explain the real danger, giving also the coordinates of the nearest stop where they could meet up.
Shitsui is understandably not a fan of humans, but is quite patient with anyone else, and feels a sort of kinship with any other cyborgs, or robots, androids and in general anything possessing AI (which lead to him befriending the ship's AI whom he calls Mathilda, and to him trying to strike a conversation with household appliances if he senses any trace of AI in them). He has a bit of a pet peeve against people not doing their job properly, as he's seen it backfire terribly too many times. He has extreme sensitivity to the touch, easily getting overwhelmed by a lot of textures, and as a result wears clothes that cover his whole body, including gloves which he takes off just when feeling extremely secure (read it as "when alone with Red Boi"). Outside of other cyborgs or AI possessing beings, has hard time trusting and opening up.
Tumblr media
Himitsu (the name given by Fukase for his secretive nature prior to erasure of his personality matrix)
Spy class cyborg, as such - was going to be disposed of prior to synchronisation (shady military dealings), but because of the brain activity heavy tasks he got to perform, got synchronised beforehands, and escaped with his life - but lost an arm after being shot with a blaster and having his system switched off to avoid being directly commanded to return. By the time he got far enough away that he thought it safe to turn his systems on, the wound was so far gone that the regeneration system deemed it irreparable and cut it off from the rest of the system to avoid spread of infection, causing it to separate.
Being an army intelligence cyborg, he was transported between the missions mostly in the state of hibernation under a specific hibernation agent which was deactivated with an antidote when he needed to be awakened. Due to the use of those, he's unable to fall asleep, unless his body completely shuts down for literal 15 minutes once in a while, which causes him to be moody and sleep deprived 24/7 and as a result transforms slight amount of spice his personality naturally has into him being a SASSquatch.
Found out about the other two after casually reading through the army archives on cyborgs, decided to try and find them, first watched them from afar and then approached. As he was a spy class cyborg, he was properly screened from giving off any electronic signals that could've exposed him as a cyborg, which he offered to trade for removing any controls he had built in. As his last intelligence mission had his cover as an engineer, he was also offered a place as a ship's tech, and does his best to whip it to shape and help pressure the captain into realising that they really need some new parts and "if the fate says it malfunctions so be it" isn't a good motto.))

Pink Cheek Syndrome- pt.1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jimin x Reader
Genre: angst, fluff, implied smut
Word count: 6k
Warnings: swearing, mentions of sex
Summary: As a wedding photographer, you profited more from the reckless decisions made by those blinded by the mere idea of love than from those who had actually found it. As a romance novelist, he profited more from the romanticized expectations of love than from the actual reality of it. And although you were a self-proclaimed aromantic, there was something very appealing about the romantic boy with a notebook who had unintentionally crashed your photoshoot on that chilly winter morning.
Pink Cheek Syndrome (n.) a phenomenon that occurs when a couple gets married without being in love, to the point where blushing cheeks must be photoshopped into their wedding photos in order to hide this reality.
A/N: i hope you guys enjoy this new series! 🙈🙈🙈💖
Click. An arm around her waist. Click. Giggles and teasing. Click. Lopsided smiles to hide the nerves. Click. And a look into each other’s eyes with a more natural smile that followed. Click. After your final pre-wedding shot of the morning, you gave the couple a thumbs up and jogged up to them with your DSLR to give them a quick peek at some of the photos.
“Ooh, I like that one!”
“Isn’t it pretty with the sun in the background?”
“This one’s definitely my fav—wait, Babe! Why is your face like that?”
“So cute!”
You did your best to drown out the baby talk between Seokjin and his soon-to-be wife, but their voices only went octaves higher with each word they spoke. You’d think that after a few years in the business, you’d have already grown immune to the coos of lovers. But alas, you still couldn’t stop yourself from cringing. And to make things worse, your partner had the day off, so you’d have to endure it all on your own.
“We have to go get ready for the ceremony now. See you there, Y/N!” the bright-eyed bride waved at you as she and Seokjin headed in the direction of the dressing room, hand in hand.
As soon as they were out of sight, you dragged yourself back to work. In the two hours you had until the ceremony began, you’d scout out the venue and take a bunch of pictures of the scenery before the guests arrived. You groaned as you unfolded your tripod, not because you disliked your job, but rather because you knew to anticipate the same old love story that, in your opinion, didn’t carry as much weight as a wedding should. In other words, you had become numb to the idea of marriage and true love.
That being said, there was always something refreshing about an empty outdoor venue, and this one was no different. Was it the pink flower arrangements that accented the long walk down the aisle, or perhaps the birds chirping into the cool and crisp winter air? Or maybe it was the emptiness itself.
You snapped a bunch of close-ups and medium shots before backing up to get a long shot of the entire scene as a whole. As you looked through your camera’s viewfinder, you caught a glimpse of a blonde boy sitting off to the side, under the tree with the chirping birds. You zoomed in closer, using your camera as a telescope. He was dressed in a clean black suit and tie, probably around your age. And he was too busy writing something in his notebook to notice your lens pointed in his direction.
Lowering your camera, you slowly approached the boy to shoo him away while you continued to take pictures of the supposedly empty venue. You had a job to do, and you certainly did not appreciate this kid making a cameo in all your photos.
“If you’re here for Kim Seokjin’s wedding, you’ll probably wanna go grab coffee or something because the ceremony doesn’t start for another two hours, you know.” You waited until the boy turned to you before snapping a picture of his face. For evidence, and perhaps for science, as it didn’t seem possible to have both mochi cheeks and a sharp jawline at the same time.
“Aren’t you early as well?” He clicked his pen and closed his notebook, getting up and hopefully out of your way.
“Yeah, but as the photographer, I’m supposed to be here early to take pictures of the venue.” You lifted your camera in case the boy hadn’t already noticed it from when the shutter went off in his face. His eyes focused on the cute little bunny charm that hung from the camera’s base.
“Are you the photographer Jungkook recommended?”
“Yep, I’m his kind partner who gave his lucky ass the day off for his friend’s wedding.” You gently stroked the bunny charm Jungkook had bought for you. “Are you a friend of his too?”
The boy nodded and extended a hand out to you, “I’m Jimin.”
You hesitated for a moment. Your first instinct was to not shake his hand, as you were still a little mad he had intruded on your empty venue shoot. Your second instinct, the one you ended up following, was to take his hand since he was one of Jungkook’s friends, “I’m Y/N.”
His hand was surprisingly warm for such a chilly morning. And you would’ve left your hand in his, but you couldn’t help but notice the notebook in his other hand.
“Were you drawing something earlier?”
“Hm?” Jimin’s eyes widened until you pointed at his notebook. “Oh, I was just doing stuff for work.”
“You’re working even on your friend’s wedding day?” you asked, wondering if you were too generous in offering to give Jungkook the day off from helping you shoot.
“Yeah, but this is a nice and peaceful place to gather my thoughts, especially before everyone else arrives.” He looked around the venue with bright eyes. “And it’s not everyday that we get to spend time in this type of romantic setting.”
“That makes one of us,” you sighed at your inevitable fate as a wedding photographer. “Wait, what kind of work do you do that makes this place worth working in? Because I can’t relate.”
Just then, you felt a thud against your back accompanied by a shriek. A pair of hands held you in place at the hips, preventing you from turning around to see behind you. “Kookie, I know that’s you.”
“Aww, Y/N you’re no fun…” Jungkook released his grip on you, only to sling his arm over your shoulders and looked at the other boy. “Since when did the two of you know each other?”
“Since about a minute ago, before you showed up.” You finally turned to your friend who was surprisingly well put together compared to when he’d attend a wedding as the photographer. His soft brown hair was gelled back just enough to reveal his cute forehead, and he even wore the fruity cologne you had given him despite him saying he’d never use it. “And why’re you here so early when you have the day off?”
“Hiding from my date,” he said in a quiet voice, choosing to look towards Jimin than at you.
“Why do you need to hide…? Wait! You have a date?” You shoved Jungkook, beyond shocked and a tad bit offended. “Why didn’t you tell me!”
“I would’ve just asked you to come with me, but you already agreed to be the photographer.” He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed, “And besides, Hobi took the time to set me up with this girl, so I didn’t really have a choice…”
“Okay, but why are you hiding from her?”
“She’s too pretty…” Jungkook whined. “And I’m kind of scared of her…”
“If she bothers you so much, why didn’t you just come without a date? What’s wrong with being dateless?” You crossed your arms, not willing to give your friend any sympathy over the fact that his date was too pretty.
Jungkook didn’t answer, and instead looked to Jimin for help. The older boy, still trying to make sense of everything, gave a simple response, “Who’s he gonna dance with if he has no date?”
You glared at Jimin for not being on your side of the argument, but before you could say something back, Jungkook jumped off your shoulder from the sound of his ringtone. Once he checked the caller ID, he groaned and regretfully waved bye before heading out to pick up his date.
Once again, you found yourself alone with Jimin, still unsure as to whether he was an enemy or an ally. With a quick interrogation, maybe you’d figure it out. You raised an eyebrow, “So where’s your date?”
“I don’t have one,” he chuckled. “Like you said, what’s wrong with being dateless?”
“Who’re you gonna dance with then?” you quoted him, too surprised to formulate your own sentences. After Jungkook had made a big deal about having a date, you just assumed all his other friends had dates as well. Moreover, the boy in front of you was definitely handsome enough to find a date with ease, so you wondered exactly why he had opted to come alone.
“I’m more of an observer than a dancer, so I’ll probably just watch Jungkook make a fool of himself on the dance floor from the comfort of my seat,” Jimin explained, although his fit body said otherwise. In your professional opinion, he had the perfect physique of a dancer—his upright posture, slim figure, thicc thighs, and not the mention the abs you imagined him hiding under his suit. It was a pity that he wasn’t a dancer or even a stripper, you thought to yourself. But maybe he’d still be able to put his nice body to use, even if it wasn’t on the dance floor.
You checked your watch to make sure you were still good on time before proposing something to the boy, “You know, I was about to kick you out of here so I could take some photos in peace… But! Would you like to be my model for today?” Otherwise, you really would have to kick him out, and you weren’t quite ready to do so yet.
“Me? A model? I mean I know I’m good-looking and all, but-”
“You don’t really have to pose that much. I just wanna take my usual pics of the empty venue, and then take the same exact pics again, only with you in them.” You looked at the boy who would certainly add a significant amount of beauty to your shots. Of course, you wouldn’t use these shots as a part of Seokjin’s wedding photo collection, but the artist in you wanted to be selfish. “I think it’d be a neat and chilling concept.”
Jimin looked at you, whose eyes reflected a genuine spark of inspiration, and then down at his notebook of work and supposed responsibilities. “I suppose I have some time to kill.”
-
“Hide behind one of the vases and peek out from behind the flowers.” You directed the blonde boy towards the huge white vase propped up on a five-foot stand. “And make a mischievous face towards the camera.”
Jimin did as he was told, although his “mischievous face” looked dorkier than anything. Still, you took the pictures while holding in your laughter, thankful your tripod was there to keep your camera from shaking with your body. As a bonus, you zoomed in close to his face to secure a new meme background for your phone.
“Are you making fun of me?” he called out to you, while at the same time still trying to maintain that same facial expression. You had to admit he was kind of cute.
“Of course not. That would be unprofessional~” You let a giggle slip as you gave him the okay sign.
And after about an hour of taking photos, you finally had Jimin sit on the step just before the altar. He held a white gardenia bouquet while staring out into the distance with a thoughtful yet captivating expression. The sunlight reflecting off his cheeks revealed a soft flush of pink that drew your eyes up to his. You watched as he blinked slowly with each breath. The cute puffiness around his eyes made him appear innocent and youthful. And yet, his killer gaze gave him a mature and mysterious aura that was certainly luring you in, whether you were aware of it or not.
Click, click, click. Even after you hit the shutter button, he remained in the same pose and so did you. Slowly you backed out of the camera’s viewfinder, and instead admired the boy through the unfiltered lens of your own eyes. It was only a few silent seconds later that he looked back at you, wondering if the photoshoot was over. And it was.
The end of the shoot only brought you back into reality where guests were beginning to arrive. Moving your tripod and equipment out of the way of others, you took just a moment to glance back towards the altar, although Jimin had already disappeared amongst the growing crowd.
Without even checking the last few photos you captured, you shook the image of Jimin’s killer gaze from your mind and continued on with your job.
You snapped your usual round of photos: guests taking their seats, family members catching up with one another, and friends gossiping. As you went around, you found Jungkook’s circle of friends, conveniently all with beautiful dates—except Jimin, although that didn’t seem to bother him much by the way he smiled and laughed with his friends. Sitting next to the very happy Jimin, was the awkward Jungkook who refused to even look at his date when he spoke. You felt bad for the girl, who only smiled softly and was too polite to ask Jungkook for more attention. If it were you sitting next to him, he’d certainly feel more at ease. But that wasn’t the case.
Though on the job, you discreetly whipped out your phone and sent the boy a quick text of encouragement.
11:54AM Y/N👯 “wtf kook at least talk to your date lmao”
You watched as the boy felt the vibration of his phone, almost relieved to be occupied by something other than the girl next to him. After reading your message, Jungkook looked around until he spotted you and didn’t hesitate to give you the finger.
11:55AM Y/N👯 “whats the point of having a date if youre not gonna talk to her -_-”
11:56AM kookie🐰 “im trying my best ok!!! leave me alone”
You looked back up from your phone and aggressively motioned for him to interact with his date. He mouthed profanity at you as the older boy occasionally looked up from his notebook to observe all the bickering. When you caught Jimin’s eye, you mouthed the words, “Take care of Kookie,” to him, and he gave you a thumbs up.
-
The ceremony itself wasn’t too bad to shoot without the aid of Jungkook. You swiftly moved from place to place to capture the walk, the vows, the rings, and the tears all from the best angles. And just when the couple said their I do’s, the wind was subtle enough to create a beautiful rippling effect in the bride’s gown and veil, thus the kiss at the altar was a soft, yet striking scene. That being said, not even that would be the most impactful shot of the day.
Immediately following the celebration of sealing the couple’s fate as husband and wife, everyone moved onto the reception, which in your experience, you always preferred more than the ceremony itself. It was a time where everyone would get drunk and loosen up rather than remain romantic snobs. The pictures you would take there didn’t need to evoke a certain amount of “love” or “foreverness”. You didn’t need to rely on your subjects to look or feel a certain way. You could produce high quality photos regardless of the situation. You had all the liberties of an artist. All you needed to do was capture the moment in front of you. Point and shoot.
When you finally had a moment to take a break, you looked for Jungkook just as you’d normally do if he were there as your partnered photographer. It took a while, but your eye caught a totally not sober boy with his head leaned over the back of his chair and his wrist pressed against his exposed forehead. Next to him again was not his date—in fact you had no idea where the fuck she had gone (you wouldn’t have been surprised nor mad if she left Jungkook to find a someone with more balls)—but rather, Jimin texting away, not even giving two shits about his drunk friend.
“Hey, you don’t look so good.” You peeled Jungkook’s arm away from his face and gently pressed your own hand against his rosy cheek. The boy looked at you with heavy eyelids and giggled. “I told you not to drink too much. We have to edit a bunch of these wedding pics tomorrow morning, you know.”
“I’m fine, Y/N, I’m fine~~~ And I talked to what’s-her-name… she’s waaaay prettier than you, hehe… nice gurrrrrl…” he slurred before closing his eyes.
“Shut the fuck up, Kookie…” you mumbled, although you did feel a little bad at how wasted he was. Your fingers continued to stroke his face as you took the empty seat next to him.
“Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on him,” the boy on the other side of Jungkook spoke.
“Really? Because last time I checked, your eyes were on your phone,” you said, wondering if it was because he had no date or a sober Jungkook to talk to. You turned your camera back on and showed the boy the most recent photo you had taken, which was of Jimin laser-focused on his phone with a tipsy Jungkook in the background. “And I have receipts.”
Jimin smiled at the candid pic of him and his friend. He had such a charming smile, it was almost contagious. “Can I see what other pics you’ve taken?” He was fascinated by your work, your art.
So you showed him—nearly everything on your camera, in fact. As you scrolled, the boy didn’t say too much, but his wide eyes and duck lips said it all. He too was captivated by the breezy kiss scene, and by everything else you had taken. And it wasn’t until you reached his special photoshoot that you realized your break was over. But just for a second, the two of you admired that one photo together. That one photo of Jimin and the white gardenias.
“I’m really handsome, right?” He covered his big smile with his tiny hands, hardly trying to conceal a potential praise kink.
You didn’t give him the validation he wanted until you scrolled to the extreme close up of his meme face. “Yeah, real handsome, Jimin,” you giggled, getting up from your seat to leave.
“Y/N, wait~~~! Drink with me~” Jungkook tried to give you one of his empty wine glasses.
“I have to get back to work, Kookie. And you really shouldn’t be drinking anymore alcohol tonight.” You took the glass away from him and handed it to the other boy. “But feel free to get Jimin drunk~!”
“Ew, noo! Drunk Jimmy always cries while reciting love poems and shit. Whatta funny dude.”
You shot a smirk at Jimin. You’ve heard of emotional drunks or violent drunks, but a lovesick drunk? “Is that true?”
“They’re not love poems.” The sober boy smacked the drunk one with his notebook.
“What are they then?”
“…Lines from a romance novel.”
“Gross,” you shook your head in disappointment. Clearly the boy was not your type.
“There’s nothing wrong with that!”
“Listen,” you pulled Jimin aside as if you were a wise old grandparent giving advice. “I know we’re at a wedding, but I’ll let you in on a little secret: love is overly romanticized in fiction. Don’t trust it.” The boy didn’t know how to respond to your cynical remark, or maybe he was just taking it all in. Regardless, you had won the argument, and with that, you blew a devilish kiss in his direction and ran off to finish your job.
That was perhaps the last time you would’ve seen the blonde boy. Sure, you would’ve always had the option to ask Jungkook for the other boy’s number, but you expected neither Jimin or yourself to have the desire to pursue anything further. Surely it was just a one-time exchange where you’d forget the boy after a few days, just has it always had been with anyone else besides Jungkook. After all, it had been quite some time since you’d last given love a second thought.
But of course, it seemed as though the world had other plans that would inevitably eat away at your personal beliefs regarding love.

8:03AM Y/N👯 “kookie wake the fuck up and get your ass over here now”
8:05AM kookie🐰 “im calling in sick whoops”
8:07AM Y/N👯 “like hell you are”
8:07AM kookie🐰 “i cant get out of bed tho😪 is this what they call a hangover?”
8:08AM Y/N👯 “i gave you a day off yesterday and this is how you repay me😔”
8:10AM kookie🐰 “fine if you want me to work, you come here”
8:11AM Y/N👯 “isnt your roommate home or something? bc i dont want him bothering us😠”
8:13AM kookie🐰 “he always wakes up early and goes out for a few hours. its fine Y/N”
8:13AM Y/N👯 “ok but you owe me coffee”
You groaned while throwing a bunch of shit into your bag before heading out the door with your car keys. For as long as you’d known and worked with Jungkook, you had never been to his place before. Your house had always been the place where the two of you edited photos, as you had a spare room set up as an editing studio, whereas Jungkook only had a spare room for his roommate whom you had never even met.
When you arrived at his place, you rang the doorbell and when the boy failed to answer after exactly twenty rings, you simply opened the unlocked door and walked inside. “Kookie, are you still alive?”
“No.” You followed the whine all the way to the room in the back. Jungkook was sitting up in his bed shirtless with pointed eyebrows and wild hair, looking not nearly as hungover as he was sleepy.
You set your bag down on the carpeted floor and crawled onto his bed to touch his forehead to play along as if you actually believed he was sick, “Are you okay?”
He only grunted in response as you sat your ass in his lap and wrapped your legs around his torso. You slid your hands up his bare chest and softly kissed the nape of his neck.
“Seriously, Kookie, you’re not gonna throw up on me, right?” you whispered into his ear and looked up at him with innocent yet naughty eyes, running the tips of your fingers down the boy’s cheek to just under his chin.
He didn’t shake his head too persuasively in response to your question, but nonetheless, his hands had already lifted and tossed your shirt aside. You were quick to lock your lips with his, pushing your body on top of him. On most occasions, the two of you would actually do some work before “taking a break”, but you were sure your friend could use a little something to put him in a better mood for editing.
♡♡♡
Jungkook brought you closer to him as the two of you waited for your hearts to slow down. You peeked at him and gave him a much gentler barrage of kisses until you finally spoke, “Why were you so drunk last night?”
“To help with nerves, I guess,” he chuckled shyly. You assumed he was talking about being nervous with his date. As far as you knew, he had never dated nor went on a date before. Whether it was because he was too shy to ever make a move, or because he felt the same skepticism about love as you did, you were not sure.
“And how’d that work out for you?”
“Honestly, I don’t know. I remember saying something stupid, or I might’ve accidentally confessed or something like that…”
“I can confirm that you indeed said some stupid things.”
“Well whatever I said to her, she told me to say it again when I’m sober. Then she ran off to dance with some friends…”
“That doesn’t sound too promising, Kookie,” you giggled. “I’m pretty sure you fucked up.”
“Really? Because Jimin said the exact opposite. He said that meant she might be interested in me if I can get the nerve to say it to her while I’m not a drunk idiot.”
“Well, that’s where Jimin and I differ,” you kissed Jungkook again. “And besides, it’s not like you were into that girl anyway, right?”
The boy didn’t say anything for a long while, which surprised you because normally, he and you took pleasure in joking about pointless crushes. Eventually, you pulled back a little to inspect his face. His cheeks were bright pink.
“No way, Kookie!” you snickered, so amused that the shy boy was actually capable of developing feelings for someone. Well, you were amused until you realized you had probably just lost your sex buddy. “Wait, do you really like her though…?”
“I…I don’t know, Y/N…” Jungkook bit his lip. “But Jimin suggested that I should at least try…”
“Oh.” You made a face before hiding it in the boy’s chest, although you were starting to feel bothered by the fact that you still laid naked in his arms. You’d always thought Jungkook was as sick of love as you were, thus the two of you agreed upon an intimate relationship, minus the romance. But if he now wanted to pursue a real relationship with someone else, who were you to stop him? You weren’t his lover.
He massaged your back, silently gathering his thoughts. “You’d be okay with that, yeah?”
“Don’t worry about me, Kookie,” you spoke too softly, almost not wanting to be heard. You squirmed your body out of his grasp and pulled your shirt back over your head, though that was all you bothered to put on before scurrying off to the bathroom to wash up.
As soon as you closed the bathroom door, you leaned your weight against the sink, feeling a sort of emptiness. It wasn’t that you’d lost Jungkook—because you knew he’d still be your friend and partner-in-crime no matter what. You weren’t hurt in the sense that he would be choosing love over you. But it did feel as though the one boy who understood your issue with love could no longer relate. It was in that sense that you felt empty.
You sighed and pinched your cheeks, feeling a bit silly for making a big deal out of the fact that Jungkook may have a tiny crush on someone. Because for all you knew, the two of you could be back to daily sex in no time. But at the same time, the thought still lingered.
Just as you splashed your face with some water, you heard a knock at the door. You weren’t sure if it was because Jungkook was extra worried about you, or because of a delayed sick feeling from his hangover. When you opened the door, however, you realized it was neither.
With your naked ass hanging out from your shirt, you nearly walked right into some hipster boy with thick framed glasses and a grey beanie to cover the roots of his blonde hair. After staring at each other for five seconds, you identified him as your cute model boy from Seokjin’s wedding, Park Jimin. After five more seconds, you put together that he had to be Jungkook’s roommate, though you were annoyed that no one had cared enough to share that detail with you. And finally, after another five seconds, you realized the context in which the two of you were reuniting and promptly covered your chest and ass.
-
“Hey, you had perfect timing… you know, besides catching me half-naked,” you hummed, now fully-clothed and waiting in line at the coffee shop down the block from Jungkook’s and Jimin’s apartment. Upon meeting Jimin in the bathroom, you asked him to help you get away from Jungkook until you were fully back in your professional mindset. Naturally, he decided to take you out for a morning coffee run.
“Why? Did you and Jungkook get into an argument or something?” Jimin asked. Your eyes were still adjusting to seeing him in glasses and casual wear. Not because he looked like a cute little nerd, but because he just looked so different from the day before. And from a photographer’s perspective, it was more than just his appearance that had changed. For some reason, the aura he gave off felt purposely dulled, as if he were hiding part of himself from you.
“Nah, but he basically said he didn’t want to fuck me anymore,” you shrugged. “Sigh, it seems Kookie’s become another victim of love… And here I thought we were on the same page…”
“I didn’t know the two of you were-”
“Believe me when I say it was just sex. Haven’t you ever slept with a co-worker?”
“Umm, no?” Jimin chuckled. “Also, why did you call Jungkook a victim of love?”
“Because he thinks he has a crush on a girl he met a day ago,” you scoffed. “Bullshit, right?”
“I think it’s cute.”
“Of course you do, Mr. Romantic,” you rolled your eyes. The more you got to know Jimin, the more he annoyed you, while at the same time, intrigued you. “But for your information, love is rarely as cute as you’d like it to be.”
“Really?” Jimin challenged you. “Please enlighten me.”
“Love is shitty. Marriage is shitty. The romance novels you read are shitty. Facts are facts, Jimin. Consider yourself enlightened.”
“Well have you ever been in love?”
“Thankfully no. But as a wedding photographer, I’ve seen all the bullshit first-hand.”
“Like what?”
“Like people reciting their totally genuine vows to the supposed love of their life, only to get a divorce a year later.”
“What about all the married couples who’ve made it past their 50th anniversary?”
“What about Kim Kardashian who got married for like half a second before signing divorce papers?”
“Yeah, but she’s happily married now.”
“To Kanye fucking West. Not to mention they have a kid named North West. How happy can the woman actually be?” you were only half-joking. “Just because they aren’t divorced, doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking about it. And that goes for everyone, not just the reality stars who profit from it.”
“Okay, okay, stop roasting them and just get to the point already,” Jimin laughed. He even found your condescending nature charming.
“My point is that after being a witness to more failed marriages than successful ones, I realized love is a lot shittier than how we’d like to imagine it.” You jabbed your finger into Jimin’s heart. “And we can thank romance writers for setting our expectations way too fucking high.”
“You’re welcome.” Jimin nonchalantly took your hand and shook it, and before you could ask him what the fuck that was for, he was already ordering three coffees at the counter. As he was busy engaging with the cashier, you just stood there frowning in confusion.
Even while the two of you waited for your coffees to be made, you refused to say a word to him. The wheels in your brain were spinning…
He always carries around a notebook and called the wedding a romantic place to work in. He apparently spouts out bullshit from romance novels when he’s drunk. He got pretty defensive when you criticized love and romance. He was a fucking romantic if you ever saw one. He said “you’re welcome” when you thanked romance writers for making love unachievable. And then it finally hit you.
“You write fanfic?” you blurted out as you and Jimin exited the shop with your tray of coffees. Your handy detective skills made you feel like Bella exposing Edward as a fucking vampire.
“What? No! I don’t write fanfic!” He seemed offended by your assumption, but you doubted he’d never written fanfiction at some point in his life.
“But you’re a writer?”
“…Yeah,” he whispered.
“Holy fucking shi-”
“Shh! Don’t let the whole fucking world know!” He placed a chubby finger on your lips, and you were lowkey tempted to bite it and see what would happen.
“Why not? Are you secretly Nicholas Sparks or something?” You waited for an answer, but Jimin merely rolled his eyes and pushed you back into his apartment before saying anything more about his job as a writer.
After closing the door and setting the tray of coffees down on the counter, he finally answered your burning question, “I’m not Nicholas Sparks.”
“Oh wow, thank you so much for clearing that one up, Jimin,” you spoke in obvious sarcasm. “So what’s your penname if you aren’t Mr. Sparks?”
Jimin just looked at you for a moment and you blinked back with eyes of curiosity. “That’s classified information, Y/N. I’ve never told anyone my penname. Not even Jungkook.”
“Hmm, interesting… I bet you write kinky shit like Fifty Shades. Or perhaps zombie erotica?” You inspected the boy more closely, searching for any clues to his kinks or deepest desires.
“Either way, you wouldn’t read my work since you’re so against romance novels, right?” The boy crossed his arms. “So why are you so curious?”
“One’s work can say a lot about them as a person: their personalities, their personal experiences, their beliefs, and what inspires them,” you spoke in a softer tone. “I’m curious as to what your writing style says about you. Because for a writer, you, Park Jimin, are pretty hard to read.”
“You’re not so easy to read either, Y/N,” he confessed. “In fact, your attitude in regards to love is wild, yet somewhat justified.”
“And for just $500 a month, I’ll give you as many rants on love as your heart desires,” you joked, but truthfully, hearing Jimin’s words made you feel a certain way.
“Wait. That’s a good idea.” A light bulb suddenly went off in the boy’s brain.
“Glad we’re on the same page, Jims, but my services are in high demand so I’ve raised the price to $1000 a month.”
“Tell me about why you’ve come to despise love. Let me get to know you for my research,” Jimin ignored your monthly service fee bullshit. “That way, I’ll be able to write a romance even you would enjoy.” He wanted you to be his muse.
“Will the story involve kittens? I love kittens a lot more than humans.” You crossed your arms like a difficult young child because you weren’t just going to simply give Jimin what he wanted in order to advance his career.
“Noted!” He literally pulled out his notebook and wrote the word kitten on a blank page. “So you’ll help me?”
“What’s in it for me? Besides the $1000 a month.” You stroked your imaginary thinking beard.
“I’m not paying you $1000 a month,” he giggled. “What else do you want?”
There certainly was something you wanted out of the boy, but it wasn’t a request you could ask of him without crossing some lines.
You stepped much closer to Jimin, nearly closing the gap between your body and his, before your eyes locked with his. “Well, you know, now that Kookie has a crush on someone else, I’ll be kind of lonely at night~” Your hand ran through his hair, knocking his beanie to the floor.
“You want sex…?”
You looked at him with a teeny bit of want and desire as your hand now rested against his flushed red cheek. Seconds later, however, Jimin very delicately peeled your hand away.
“I can’t give you that either…” he said.
Just as with Jungkook earlier that morning, the rejection didn’t necessarily hurt. In fact, it was a pleasant surprise that Jimin had said no. Because it meant that, to some degree, he was beginning to understand you.
“Not bad, Park Jimin…” You smiled to yourself. “Alright, I’ll be your muse.”
Your sudden shift in moods caught the boy off-guard, although he’d kept that much to himself and instead asked another question, “You really don’t want anything in return, though?”
“Of course I want something in return!” You poked Jimin in the cheek before switching to a softer voice again. “I want you to eventually tell me your penname. That’s all.”
“Even if it’s fifty years from now?” he asked, still unsure of your fascination with his penname.
You nodded, “As long as it takes.” As long as it takes for Jimin to entrust you with his secret.
“Deal.”

Omg, 18! I’m having too much fun writing this!
Part Seventeen
Masterlist
----++----
Shinpachi, Heisuke and Sanosuke had gone back to the gym to work out some more.
“Yosh! Let’s work on some crunches now!”
Sanosuke set his weights down, grabbing a towel from the bench. “Shinpachi! Haven’t we done enough today?” Heisuke flopped on the floor. “I’m with Sano-san! I can’t do this anymore!”
“Pshh, you two have such little stamina. Let’s take five and run on the treadmills then!” He sat down next to Heisuke, grabbing his green water bottle to take a swig of water.
The little click-click of heels had Sanosuke snapping to attention. There was a reason that Shinpachi was so eager on dragging out his gym time, and this only made it clearer. He pretended not to see her as she approached the trio. He wiped his brow with his towel.
Finally, the click-click of heels stopped right behind Shinpachi. He stiffened a bit, hesitant to turn around.
“Shin!” Hands on her hips, a pout on her pink glossed lips, and her were eyebrows furrowed in displeasure.
Shinpachi immediately stood up to face her. “A-ah, Etsu!” His heart skipped a beat, looking at her. She was wearing a flared red dress that hugged her curves that reached above her knees. “Wh-what brings you here?”
“You know exactly what, Nagakura Shinpachi!” She crossed her arms. “You went to the club again, didn’t you?”
“Just for a bit…just for a drink with Sano!” He knew he was better off telling the truth. Yeah, he liked going to the clubs, but it was mostly for the bar and ambiance. He had no interest in other women, only her. “Na, Sano?”
Sanosuke gave her a sheepish smile. “I was watching this idiot the whole time, once he was drunk off his ass, he was listing things that he loved about you. I had to listen to him during the car ride home.” He chuckled.
Etsu’s expression softened. She knew Sano-san never lied to her. Though she trusted Shinpachi, she couldn’t help but be doubtful once in a while. He was an attractive man, women and men looked his way when they walked out in public holding hands. She trusted he wouldn’t cheat on her, but she certainly didn’t trust the majority of girls at a club or bar. “Really, Shin?”
“Maa, I don’t remember much, but I guess I can repeat it for you…” His cheeks were dusted with pink.
“Ooooh, Shi~in!” She lunged forward, tackling him in a hug. “Tell me over dinner!”
Shinpachi chuckled, giving her cheek a peck. “Okay, okay, let me get changed and I’ll meet you in my office.”
Giggling, she nodded happily and tip-toed to kiss his cheek. Even with her three-inch heels, she still couldn’t reach his cheeks.
“Geez…” Heisuke watched her leave for his office. “You two fight and make up over nothing.”
“We do not fight, we have small disagreements from time to time. Besides, Etsu’s such a catch.” Shinpachi grinned like a fool in love, which was what he was. “She knows how to cook, she’s kind, beautiful, she’s got curves, she’s a D, and thick thighs for me to rest my head on-”
“Oi, oi, Shinpachi, save it for dinner.” Sanosuke shook his head, clapping him on the back as they went to hit the showers.
 --
Chizuru and Hijikata-sensei had agreed that he would bring Okita-san as soon as the discharge papers went through. She decided to go home after changing to set things up for him.
Souji was alone in the room. He closed his eyes and tried to take a nap, but little flashes of what he wanted to call memories came to him.
Chizuru cooking, their first kiss, studying with Chizuru, Hajime-kun, and Heisuke-kun, little bits of things here and there he didn't understand.
Just what the hell was going on? These thoughts, memories, weren't his, but they were in his head.
"Oi, Souji." Hijikata-san opened the door.
Souji chuckled, "The Hijikata-san I know also never knocks." He stood up and stretched until his back popped a bit.
"Let's get going, the papers went through." He grabbed the file folder and opened a bit to check its contents. A birth certificate, an ID, even a high school diploma...He really did not want to know how Sannan-san got a hold of these documents.
Souji followed him out to the parking lot, grimacing slightly when he heard a loud roar. "Hijikata-san, what are all these machines?" He looked around them. The machines were similar shapes, but different colors. They all were in neat rows, though some here and there were placed crookedly.
“Cars. They’re like our modern horses.” Toshizō opened the passenger door of his black sports car. “Come on, Souji, I don’t have all day.” He glanced at his iPhone 4, smiling lightly as he got a reminder from Satomi to come home for dinner. He didn’t forget, but she knew to send him little reminders in case he did lose track of time. He shut the door after Souji and quickly responded that he’d be home after dropping Souji off at Chizuru’s.
“Modern horses?” Souji mused, looking around the car. He had the urge to press buttons that lit up when Hijikata-san brought the modern horse to life. What had he called it, a car?
“Souji! Don’t touch anything! It can be dangerous if you press the wrong thing while I’m driving.” He had spotted that devious glint in his eyes. Sighing, he started driving out of the parking lot, the car picking up speed once he was out on the road.
Souji grasped the seat for support as Hijikata-san started to go faster. He didn’t like this car thing, though it was more convenient than a horse or walking. He had to admit that when Hijikata-san made the turns rather harshly, it made him a biiiiit scared for his life. He chuckled nervously. “Are these cars meant to go this fast?”
Toshizō smirked, pressing down on the accelerator, passing other cars by. He wasn’t a reckless driver, but he certainly was a speed demon. “Oh sure, this one is built to go rather fast. She’s meant to drive fast.” He could see Souji was scared shitless by his driving, and he was relishing every moment of it. He smoothly parked the car near Chizuru’s apartment. “Well, here we are. Didn’t take long at all.” He probably broke over twenty traffic laws, but it was so worth it, especially when Souji crawled out of the car on all fours.
Oh, sweet solid ground. Souji took a few moments before he stood up. He’d gotten a little nauseous with the car moving at such high velocity.
He never, ever wanted to get in the same car as Hijikata-san again.
 --
Toshizō led him to Chizuru’s apartment. “I can’t stay, but you’re going to tell him, right?”
Chizuru nodded, looking over at Souji; he was busy staring at pictures she had up on the wall. “Yes, Hijikata-sensei.”
“Good. Here’s his medicine, the file from Sannan-san, and the journals. Good luck, Yukimura.”
Chizuru bowed and set the box inside, next to the coffee table.
His jade green eyes stared at a few pictures on the wall. There was one of him, Heisuke-kun and Hajime-kun. They were wearing some type of uniform, Heisuke had his arms around the both of them, grinning, and even Hajime was sporting a slight smile. His future self was smiling so happily, it made him a little jealous.
There was another picture that caught his eye of his future self, Hijikata-san, and Shinpachi-san. The three of them wore lab coats, making funny poses in front of a crowd of children.
Chizuru came behind him, staring at the same picture, a smile spread instantly. “That’s one of my favorite. Kondō-san was out sick, but he was supposed to read to the children in the hospital, so he asked Hijikata-sensei, Nagakura-san, and Souji-kun to read it in his place instead.” She laughed at the memory. They had ended up doing a rather unorthodox version of Momotaro, thanks to Souji.* Hijikata-sensei and Nagakura-san chased him around the halls for deviating from the story by bringing in a gorilla instead of a monkey that Nagakura-san had to provide the voice for and the rest of the characters, and making Hijikata-sensei the demon. She’d been in the back, laughing with the rest of the children. They’d loved it so much.
“Hmm, sounds interesting.” Souji stepped cautiously towards the living room as he looked around. This is where he would be living now. With Chizuru.
“Ah, Okita-san…” Chizuru went to sit on the couch, taking out a packet from the box that Hijikata-sensei had given her. “…You probably have questions about the Shinsengumi, don’t you?”
Souji took the seat next to her, crossing his arms. “Many.”
“...This packet of information should clear a few things up.”
Souji took it from her, quickly scanning the first page. He skipped ahead to find out about Kondō-san.
He nearly tore the damn paper in half. His jade green eyes furiously looked over at Chizuru. “Ne, Chizuru-chan, this is a lie, isn’t it?” His voice shook slightly. “Kondō-san would never surrender!”
Chizuru remained silent as Souji reread the end of the paragraph that described Kondō-san’s death.
“The fucking bastards didn’t even let him commit seppuku?! They beheaded him like some animal?! Where the hell was Hijikata-san?!” Souji threw the packet down, bowing his head. “Tell me that’s a lie, Chizuru-chan…tell me that he at least got to commit seppuku like the warrior he is…”
They sat there for a few moments, Souji waiting for Chizuru to tell him the truth.
“...He deserved that honor…He was…He…” His voice broke, unable to say anymore. He hated showing this side to anyone. He was Okita Souji, Captain of the First Division of the Shinsengumi. He didn’t shed tears.
Chizuru gently pulled him into her arms, burying her face into his hair, feeling his tears on her arm. There was nothing she could say to him that could ease the pain of losing a loved one in such a horrible manner. If her Souji had the same relationship with Kondō-san that Okita-san had with the Kondō-san in his time, he thought the world of him. She couldn’t do anything to ease the pain in his heart, so she just held him, hoping that her presence could be of even of even the slightest bit of comfort to him.

Hit me below the belt
One of the rules of the Gentleman club is: Find you a girl that is a Times Roman in the streets and a verdana in the sheets.
That girl was (supposedly) Nelly (like the rapper). [there was quite some resemblance between her and Nelly the Rapper, otherwise my brain was playing tricks on me(again) on some cause-relate bias]
We met at Rotaract, but I initially saw her at AIESEC. It was her first time, and probably her last time. She told me: “I found it boring”, which personally was kind of ironic considering how actually boring I think Rotaract is, and as a former AIESECer, id say those were the good times. It was lit.
These things are relative, and had she stuck around the MSS, her experience might have been different. She was also the VP of Rotaract so brand loyalty? She had to root for her team and disparage the other (competing) team.
We saw each shortly after that during the Journey meeting. The one that had an African theme. The Thursday Jeremy had come around for a sleepover, and I had either deliberately or circumstancially (I don't know) showed up anyways in the Leopard print coat, the grey shirt and the SONY headphones.
It was chance. I was dressed up for the party. I was oozing in confidence and totally had a time of my life. I cheered, rather too loud for my norm. I sat on the writing board on those JKUAT seats with this girl, appraising the models, judging the performances, watching everything.
After the event, there was a small sort of after-party. There was a DJ turning tables, then the rest of us on the dance floor (the cleared center stage of CLB 00-something) were in two crews, facing each other like a dance-off, though it wasn't a competition. We were just having fun, from the hype guys on the front row showing the rest of us the dance styles to move to the songs. I was on the front row but more like a cheerleader.
We danced like crazy, and I especially, with my two left feet and sedentary lifestyle was making a fool of myself and sweating through every pore and every hole. Nobody seemed to care, especially me. I was watching her on the other side and she was sweating too. She was smiling too, with those demonic eyes that make me want to do some very bad things to her. (Cue in MGK and Camilla Cabello).
Since then I had seen her around, on various occasions, around my place in Gate A. She lived nearby. We passed each other on the streets, barely a word being said between us, only exchanging looks that hinted recognition. That went on for months, until a few weeks ago…
It was a Monday evening. I had been invited for the Rotaract meeting by Fatuma (more about her later) who was also an official at the club. I accepted the invitation.
I entered the room half an hour past seven; a little tardy by all standards; a little drunk after a drinking session with my bud Ron. I sauntered into the room like a Russian spy and sat quitly on the closest a available seat. I sat for close to an hour and a half, listening to this guy talk about his fashion business, then through a Q & A session (I asked him the current state of the fashion industry and how it can be improved, but my brain was too intoxicated to absorb anything close to unrehearsed mumble-jumble of a reply. He was a cool guy though, and his outfits were terrific!), then followed the procedures to the conclusion. I ended the matter in a style and a fashion, a little sobered up, contrary to my late entrance.
After the meeting was over, I tapped this girl on her shoulder and began making a conversation.
“Hi”
“Hi”
“ You had a question for the presenter of the day? I saw you raise your hand but he didn't pick you out. What was that question?” I went on.
She told me, though I can't quite remember. Something generic.
The idea was to take her hand and take her to the Fashion guy, and after she asked away, I'd add some some smart talk and impress her, then take her home. No. Take her number and ask her to come and see me sometime. My mind was on some other girl.
The Fashion Guy had disappeared.
“My name is KK, what's yours?”
“Christine”
“That's a beautiful name…
[“Thank you”].
[We exchanged contacts].
Let's get out of here. It's kind of noisy.”
“ I'm sorry. I have something I have to do before I leave.” She declined.
“Are you an official here? Like do you have club responsibilities?”
“ No, actually. I just help serve the coffee.”
“ I want some…” I blurted out.
She sold me coffee, then a few seconds later announced that it was on-house. The fuck! “You sold me free coffee!” I didn't really mind though, it was just ten-shillings for some shitty tasting coffee in a miniscule plastic cup. A coffee tot.
The girl that was on my mind had been at the center of the room posing for pictures all this while. Then next thing I knew, she was gone. It was time to go. I was outta there.
I got out of the room into the cold air of the night, stepped onto the veranda and circled around the staircase to the other side of the complex and then I saw her! I hopped. I flagged her and her friend.
“Hey. It's you that I wanted to talk to.”
She turned her head ever so gently and gave me the most lady-like smile I have ever received in my life.
She stopped walking and I stood in front of her, looking into her eyes. Then,
“This is going to sound like the corniest thing you have ever had, but you look very familiar. Have I seen you somewhere? I just want to get you out of my mind.”
That smile. That damn smile. We started walking again, talking. I told her my name. She asked, “KK stands for?”
“Kennedy Karanja,” I answered, putting the accent in the right place, like a true son of Mumbi.
“Shee.”
“Haha. Like S-H-E? She?”
“S-H-E-E!”
“yeah, right. Is that your real name or your stage name?” I teased.
“My name is Magdalene Wanjiku(no accent), but my friends call me Shee”
I asked her what she did for fun. Apparently, Netflix and Chill is the most fun she has for days, semester in, semester out. I had other ideas, so I put my arms around her to drive a point. Touching.
She backed away slightly, but then kept coming back. I told her I was a rapper. She was impressed. She asked for a sample, which I had to produce. We had to stand as I scrolled through my Twitter for my SoundCloud. Umm...tweets from last year...mostly rants. Tweets from some past I was depressed. Tweets from a remote history when I didn't have an idea what Twitter was for...then I found it! CABBAGES!
That was a banger. By Kenyan standards. If it was well mastered and mixed and promoted, by all standards.
That's how I got my number one fan. She complemented my voice and I saw in her eyes she was falling for me. She was tripping for me. She said she could sing too.
“Well then, try this:
1-2-5 tuko 4-2-0,
Juja-maica tuko maji tuko H-2-0.”
“125 tuko 5-2-oh!
Juja-maica tuko maji tuko H-2-O”
Impressive!
That's was just her first take. I imagine the future would lit for this gyal should she decide to pick music as a career. But she sings in the choir.
“I was choir-one in high school” she chimes in just as I am about to blah-blah-blah my complements.
We were so long lost in conversing that realizing we had finally reached Gate C came as a rude shocker.
“This is where we say goodbye. But before you go there is something I'd like to say”
I took a breath and gave the conversation a breather.
Then I said the most absurd words she has ever heard come out of a human mouth. I spoke like a dragon of a human,
“ I want to fuck you and make you my bitch.”
She stepped back in shock. I had lifted some rapper's lyrics and quoted them verbatim. I said those words so casually, in the midst of witnesses and eavesdropping passers-by. She retreated back to her shell; no longer smiling; no more of those eyes. Those damn eyes!
I was left to my own mental space, finally realizing the gravity of my stupidity yet ambivalently confident in my aggressive approach. Little did I know that this woman that I was prospecting to fuck and do bad things to was born-again. Jesus Christ, who is the freak now?
I had to hastily say my goodbyes and leave with my tail wagging between my legs, the defeated dog that I had turned into. Back into school, back to CLB - I had to claim my prize. My final option. It was her.
Remember how I implied that she was a Times News Roman in the streets but a Verdana in the sheets? I had to find out. I trekked at a marcher's pace and trotted at a runner's pace.
When I made my re-entry, I was lucky she was one of the few people that had been left, and had I been a few seconds later she would have vanished. I went straight to her and we hit it off.
“i wanted to nominate you for the Fashion adjudicator's award. You're minimalist, but you still look stylish. Real stylish.”
She looked down, half inspecting her outfit, half blushing at this stranger’s kind words, then rebuffed with a “ ah! I dont know.”

Ferry Back to Mainland Thailand
Out of Southern Thailand
Greetings all! We took a couple of weeks off writing blog entries just to build suspense. Since nothing wittier came in, if our around the world trip became a made for t.v. movie, it would be called “Peeing on Myself in 15 Different Countries.” Not very mature Pepper.
Currently Nadine and I call Surin, Thailand home, not in humid southern Thailand, but eastern Thailand. The annual elephant festival is taking place this weekend. We’ll save all those details for a future entry. Hope my memory serves like an elephants, but I hope that Slappy the Elephant doesn’t remember me stepping on his big toe. This entry is a tag team effort, half Nadine, and then I come in with a few words that leave you a bit deflated. “Pity the fool who doesn’t read John and Nadine’s blog.” Direct quote from Mr. T. Now you have to read the blog. Enjoy.

Making More Memories in Thailand with a Dry Camera
Koh Phi Phi Beach
When we last left y’all, we had just left Koh Phi Phi. But I forgot one remarkable experience from that leg of our trip. After leaving the beach from The Beach (Koh Phi Phi Le), we headed back towards Koh Phi Phi, the inhabited island. Menacing clouds quickly approached. I forecast that in six minutes rain would shower our little long-boat, and five minutes 59 seconds later, rain drops torpedoed the bow of our boat and slapped upside the side of our heads. Initially for 10 minutes, the land mass of Koh Phi Phi Le partially protected us, but that protection ceased when we hit open water. Suddenly, our boat rocked up and down like it listened to a disturbed Britney Spears song. Each large wave greeted us with rain that switched from vertical to horizontal slap you in the face rain. My only concern at the time was our camera and I guess, and in some sense, our safety, but more importantly, our camera. In the open water, I grabbed life jackets so Nadine could cover herself and our bag, limiting the amount of rain inching towards our camera. I took my life jacket and placed it at an angle to cover Nadine’s even more while I took the rain like a man . . . directly to the face. Visibility was ten feet. Yes, the flood gates had opened. When you thought we were on the home stretch to calm seas and a dry room on island, our boat turned around. What?!?! The driver must have imagined that was not enough fun to see female tourists screaming with every crest of a wave. I guess it could be fun. Apparently another boat stalled and ignoring the complaints from two Canadian nurses, our driver dragged them to safety. We lived to see another day, and yes, our camera was dry.
Posing with Phang Nga Forest Park
After sunburned Koh Phi Phi, we yearned for a destination with a few less tourists. We traveled to Phang-Nga, a town with only one guesthouse and motorbike accessible. Our primary reason was a hike through a little known Forest Park there. It was definitely deserted and off the beaten tourist track. Hot, humid, and buggy hiking welcomed us, and afterwards, waterfall created pools cooled us off near the entrance of the park. Nice break from a tourist itinerary.

Potty Humor
Happy Toilet Healthy Life! like my Mom always used to say
Whenever Nadine and I sit down to knock out a blog entry about what we experienced and caught our attention. Well, I now present some interesting facets of Thai and South East Asian culture we’ve observed. You probably watched this on CNN this week, but Thailand is hosting the World Toilet Expo and Forum. Experts from the world talk where is best to take a dump. That made me think of all the types of toilets we’ve encountered on our trip so far. And there has been many. This is the point where I will describe in intimate detail to y’all all the types we’ve seen and, thanks to the fact that I am a guy, I haven’t had to use many of them, while Nadine has sat on all of them.
The first type of toilet is what we call the modern Western flush toilet paper toilet. You sit down, take care of business, throw your toilet paper in the toilet when done, and flush. These are found anywhere in the first world as well as nice hotels and hostels in SEA (Southeast Asia).
The second type of toilet is what we call a Western toilet with t.p. in the trash toilet. A nice porcelain seat greets the user, but when it’s time to dispose of your t.p., you place it in the trash. You still flush.
The third type of toilet is what we call a Western toilet, bucket flush toilet. Porcelain greets you with this toilet, but when you turn to flush, there is not a flusher present. That is when you notice the big pink bucket with a faucet dripping over it. You pick it up, fill it up with two gallons of H20 (those of you not familiar with chemistry, that’s water), and pour into the toilet. Note of caution, you must place yourself at an angle so as not to splash water onto your feet or legs. Terrible sensation. Unless it’s and you’re hot.
The fourth type of toilet is what we call a Squat Toilet Flusher, STF for short. With this one, you place your feet on foot pads so as not to slip, then squat, aim, take care of business, and clean yourself. For anyone from the U.S., this proves to be difficult the first time around. After you are done, simply pull the lever behind you and done.
The fifth type of toilet is what we consider the Squat toilet, bucket flush. Same as the fourth type of toilet, but grab that pink bucket with a New Mexican State slogan written across the side, Lizards Make Great Pets, and pour. Be even more careful this time from the splash of the bucket.
We have the Ah Shit Toilet. The sixth is the Squat with no visible toilet seat or toilet paper. This can be anywhere and this is a true adventure. You walk into a closed room, turn around perplexed and ask if this is really the toilet, then stand, squat, tip toe in odd positions trying not to touch a single item in the vicinity since it has never seen been cleaned or cleaner since its original construction. I insist it’s really important to wash your hands, maybe even take a shower to be certain of your health.
The seventh and final type of toilet facility (we may have new ones in a month or so) is what we affectionately call a tree. This is the easiest, stroll up to the tree in the middle of nowhere and depending on your gender, stand or squat, and shake. Back on the bus and off you go.
Obviously, the level of cleanliness steadily decreases as you move from the first type to the sixth type of toilet. The last type should be organically clean enough for you. Just don’t grab poison ivy.

Descending Upon Hat Rai Leh
Another Beautiful View from Rai Leh
After secluded hiking and waterfalls in Phang Nga, we returned to Hat Rai Leh. Our raison d’etre in Rai Leh was for a climb and hike over the lip of limestone walls down into a secluded lagoon. The beginning proved to be challenging using frayed ropes to climb up and over red mud, roots, and sharp rocks. The top of this climb bestowed on us an absolute amazing view of Rai Leh beach and the hills circling the area. Now from here on to the lagoon. Footing became slippier, wetter, and more uneasy. Apparently there was a spot 15 foot free fall made possible by rope. When we arrived to this prewarned point, the following question crossed my mind, “Do I want to risk serious injury, concluding our trip, to see this lagoon?” We both checked our egos at the door and turned around, much to the relief of our mothers. The descent proved more difficult than the ascent.

Sins and Rats!
She Makes Her Own Style
We returned to Rai Leh to celebrate the Full Moon with a full moon party. Each time it’s a full moon, the island of Koh Pha-Ngan, on the other side of Thailand, has the world (in)famous Full Moon Party. Due to our location on the western coast of the peninsula, we had a regular ol’ party. Good enough for me. We spent the evening between a few clubs and live music. Good fun. But also this evening, Thais celebrate Loi Krathong Floating Lantern Festival. Thais make a wreath made from banana leaves and place a candle in the middle of this wreath. At night of the November Full Moon, they send it out to sea, down a river, or up into the sky. It represents their sins from the past year and making amends for past transgressions. The wreaths floating to heaven are constructed out of light paper and with a candle in the middle. The heat from the candle causes it to rise into the sky.
By the time Thais sent their wreathes and past sins to heaven, Nadine and I returned home to watch the remaining wreaths. We thought nothing would be more memorable than Loi Krathong this night. We were wrong. While sleeping at 4 a.m., the odd noise of scurrying claws around our room and our heads awakened us. What the heck was that? Probably nothing, back to bed. What darted under Nadine’s bag? And now running on my shoes? What we observed was similar to the rat’s equivalent of 100 meter dash. Five, not mice size, but healthy, Olympic-sized, full of muscle steroid rats using our room as their training facility. For the next hour and a half, and mind you we were already fatigued from Low Krathong, we turned the lights on, burned a mosquito coil (as if that would bother a rat), lifted our bed to the middle of the room, balanced our backpacks on two chairs away from the walls, and put our heads on the other end of the bed, no rat poop landing on my head tonight! Rats, after all of this, we enjoyed another quality squinty-eyed three hours of sleep.

Oh Koh Tao’s Buckets of Fun
Full Ferry to Koh Tao
After our second visit to Railey, we wanted to make our way to the east coast of Thailand to an island called Koh Tao. A ferry from Surat Thani carried us away at 8 in the morning. It made a couple of stops along the way before arriving to Koh Tao around 2:30. Koh Samui was our first brief stop, then Koh Pha Ngan (home of the famous full moon parties). There we boarded another boat. Hungover revelers packed this boat to the brim. Someone occupied every single seat only leaving a few standing spots. Backpacks reached six feet high. The lack of life jackets on board made me a bit nervous and the fact that passengers littered every foot of the boat. Alas, we safely arrived to Koh Tao and departed the boat as quick as possible to a wonderful place to just be.
Koh Tao was an easy, relaxing place to let four days just saunter by. We spent quite a bit of time with two other couples, one American and one Finnish. The Finnish couple was there for scuba diving certification and Koh Tao serves as the Mecca for cheap scuba diving certification. Instead, we partook in activities that reminded us of home, such as yoga (for Nadine), a visit to a gym (John), and watching pirated Scrubs DVD’s. To break the monotony, we rode a long tail boat over to the smaller islands of Nang Yuan for snorkeling (the poor man’s scuba diving) and hiking. A sandbar only accessible during low tide connected the two main islands. Picturesque.
The Lotus Bar was different than home. First of all, this bar on the beach provided little mats to sit on and lights in the sand around you…great atmosphere. At this bar, we were introduced to “buckets” by our Finnish friends. Basically, it is a supersized mixed drink in a small, tin bucket that is meant to be shared among a small group of people. I can’t reveal the recipe, but it does result in a bit of dancing.
