Would you like to discover “the most beautiful place seen from space”? Set sail with your charter boat to the Exuma Islands!
Sapphire blue waters, pristine beaches scattered along the coast of hundreds of deserted islets or populated by luxury resorts, up to some bizarre peculiarities such as the iconic swimming pigs. These handful of features are just some of the reasons why the Exuma archipelago has become one of the major tourist attractions in the Bahamas.
CONTACT US FOR YOUR NEXT CHARTER IN EXUMA
In this short article, we find out why the Exuma Islands occupy a special place in the best sailing holiday locations ranking. Let’s start:
Where are the Exuma islands located?
The term Exuma refers to an archipelago belonging to the state of the Bahamas and arranged to form a thin line of islands, islets, and atolls long and narrow that runs along the Bahamian sea.
This chain is commonly divided into three main areas, Great Exuma Island, Little Exuma Island, and the scattered Exuma Cays.
Great Exuma is the largest and home to most of the large resort hotels as well as Exuma International Airport and the main city, George Town.
Little Exuma, as expected, is the second-largest island in the archipelago and is located just south of Great Exuma, connected to it by a bridge. Compared to its “big sister” it enjoys more tranquility and hosts the famous beach of the “Tropic of Cancer”.
North of Great Exuma, finally, there are the so-called Cays, an endless number of islands and islets, some of which are home to dream beaches and resorts. No nautical charter that crosses these seas misses the opportunity to spend even one day here snorkeling near its pristine beaches and coral reefs.

What port is better to choose as your starting point to reach the Exumas?
Although Miami is also a strategically perfect marina for sailing to the Bahamas, those who choose to set sail for this paradise location usually decide to do it from Nassau, Bahamas capital located on the island of New Providence, north from the Exuma Cays. An equally convenient alternative is landing by flight directly at the airport located in Great Exuma.
Why are they such a popular destination?
Exploring this archipelago means wandering from one island to another following the route leading you to a truly extraordinary experience linked in particular to marine life
Waters around the Exumas are in fact among the clearest in the world and this is the reason why they are appreciated by hundreds of divers and snorkelers who love to dive into large stretches of the sea so transparent that they can see the ocean floor. Two of the most visited sites are located in the Exuma Cays. They are “The Musician”, an underwater sculpture by the artist Jason DeCaires Taylor and the submerged airplane wreck, easily accessible and inhabited by hundreds of colorful fish.
The reason that made the Exumas so coveted is therefore its waters, so beautiful as to give emotions even to those who observe them from very far away, as in the case of astronaut Scott Kelly who from the international space station describes these islands as “The place more beautiful seen from space “.

What are their main tourist attractions in Exuma?
Here is a must-see destinations collection worth reaching while sailing the Exuma Islands:
Big Major Cay
Also called Pig Beach, Big Major Cay is home to the famous swimming pigs. Taking a selfie while swimming with adorable pigs splashing around in crystal clear waters is a priceless experience and has long become a tourist must-have.
It is not clear how these sweet pink pigs arrived on this uninhabited island, whether they were the result of a shipwreck or if they were specially brought by some unwary breeder and then escaped. Today they have become endemic to the place and are a symbol of Exumas around the world. I recommend, do not show up empty-handed. Swimming pigs love cookies, bread, and whatever food you want to offer them!
Exuma Cays Land and Sea National Park
Created in 1958 with an extension of approximately 456 square kilometers, the Exuma Cays Land and Sea National Park was the first land and marine park established in the world with great success. It is a huge reserve where any type of fishing is strictly prohibited and has become a wildlife refuge immersed in a breathtaking marine environment ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling.
Staniel Cay
The island of Staniel Cay hides the famous Thunderball Grotto, a fantastic underwater cave. Its entrance is hidden underwater, but during low tide hours, you can swim to it and discover a world teeming with colorful tropical fish.
Stocking island
We end our tour with the legendary Chat ‘n’ Chill beach bar, located on Stocking Island and accessible only by boat. Ranked as one of the top 20 restaurants in The Exumas by Tripadvisor, Chat ‘N’ Chill offers Bahamian and American cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere and has become famous for its cocktails, fresh conch salad, and most importantly its roast pork. The “Sunday Pig Roast”.

What could be a possible 7-days boat itinerary to find out about the Florida Keys?
Part of an ancient coral reef, the Florida Keys are synonymous with a popular destination for fishing, boating, snorkeling, and diving enthusiasts from all over the world. The symbol city, Key West, has always been a reminder for all those who wish to savor Caribbean life while remaining in the continental United States territory. Famous are its sunsets over the sea to be enjoyed in one of the many bars and clubs that characterize this city.
However, Key West is only the spearhead of a vast archipelago teeming with marine life. Let’s find out more about this exciting charter boat vacation destination!
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER IN THE FLORIDA KEYS
Where are the Florida Keys located?
The Keys are a strip of hundreds of islands and islets extending for about 120 miles along the southern tip of the US state of Florida and ideally separate the Atlantic Ocean waters from those of the Gulf of Mexico.
They are connected to the mainland by the long Seven Mile Bridge viaduct, a long bridge that crosses and connects the major islands by tracing an arched line extending into the sea.
The beginning of the archipelago is located southeast of the Florida peninsula, about 15 miles south of Miami, and stretches from northeast to southwest to westernmost Key West and the uninhabited Dry Tortugas.
Why choose Miami as your starting point to visit the Florida Keys?
Miami is one of the most attractive cities in the US. Its famous white beaches, the warm weather for most of the year, and the luxury neighborhoods make it the “place to be” for millions of tourists all around the world.
Furthermore, it is one of the best-organized cities in the world for everything related to yachting with dozens of marinas ready to satisfy every need.
Choosing Miami as your starting point is also advantageous from a logistical point of view both for its strategic position to the Florida Keys, and because, as a world tourist destination, it is served by air connections from all the main airports on the planet.
What is the best time for a boat trip here?
The climate that awaits you visiting the Keys is tropical, characterized by two main seasons: a dry one, from November to April, and a wet one, from May to October. It is during the dry season that the greatest flow of visitors from Europe, the United States, and in general from all over the world is concentrated. This is also the best time to sail these seas as there is no risk of copious rainfall or hurricanes while temperatures keep lower than in the hot and humid season remaining around 24-25 ° C.
What could be a possible 7-day itinerary in the Florida Keys?
At Your Boat Holiday, we specialize in preparing and managing itineraries tailored to our customer’s requests and preferences. What you see below is just one of the many possible itineraries that our company usually organizes in the Florida Keys:
Day 1: set sail from Miami to spend the whole day discovering its wonders like the south beach, the iconic Star, Palm, and Hibiscus islands, or, why not, have a walk-in Ocean Drive, a street overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with a palm boulevard and a wide sidewalk. It is known for its Art Deco-inspired hotels and is very popular both day and night because of its numerous clubs, bars, and restaurants;
Day 2: keep going south to the Key Biscayne National Park, the perfect place to unwind and relax on miles of golden sandy beaches or to discover its protected marine environment;
Day 3: Route to the Everglades National Park, a huge natural reserve for local fauna, home for turtles, crocodiles, and sharks. Everglades are not exactly part of the Florida Keys but it is still worth a detour to this biodiversity-rich reserve made of swamps and vegetation that stretches over 1.5 million acres on the southern tip of the state of Florida.
Day 4: reach Islamorada for a day dedicated to relaxation and tranquility that only this Key can transmit. Islamorada means “purple island” and probably owes its name to a jellyfish with a purple luminescence present in its waters;
Day 5: let’s drop anchor in Key Marathon, considered the heart of the archipelago;
Day 6: Keeping heading west we finally reach Key West, a great location for diving, snorkeling, and observing many fish species and coral on the only coral reef located in North America.
Day 7: back to Miami for your relaxing last day onboard your rented boat;
For any information regarding this or another possible itinerary, do not hesitate to contact us! We will be happy to answer all your questions.

The Best Marinas in Lesser Antilles? Sail between Guadalupe, Martinique and Saint Lucia!
Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Saint Lucia represent 3 of the Lesser Antilles islands and are positioned right in the middle of that strip of islands that runs from north to south and defines the entrance to the Caribbean Sea for those who sail the Atlantic Ocean from east to west.
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER IN THE LESSER ANTILLES
In addition to being a paradise made up of enchanting beaches, rainforest, and a thousand shades of blue sea, these three locations are particularly appreciated by boaters who also choose them for their numerous landings and marinas located along the coast and make them ideal for organizing holiday itineraries by boat.
How do reach these three destinations?
The first distinction between Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Saint Lucia concerns their type of political administration. If the first two are in fact part of the French overseas territories, Saint Lucia is instead an autonomous nation.
This distinction greatly affects connections available to reach these locations. Travelers from Europe to Guadeloupe or Martinique are
well connected through several direct flights to and from Paris. Pointe-à-Pitre international airport in Guadeloupe and Lamentin International Airport in Martinique are both very close to island capitals (Pointe-à-Pitre and Fort-de-France) and also allow direct air connections with North America as well as with the other major Caribbean islands.
Saint Lucia has two main airports: Hewanorra International Airport, located on the remote southern end of the island, and George FL Charles Airport located northwest in the more touristy area. International flights land in Hewanorra, while those from other Caribbean islands and charters usually stop at George FL Charles.
What peculiarities characterize each of these islands?
Probably one of the most popular Caribbean destinations, Guadeloupe offers a perfect balance between wild and unspoiled nature and magnificent beaches, among the most beautiful of the lesser Antilles. If you need an example, take a look at La Caravelle beach, a painted landscape with crystalline and turquoise waters, typical of the Caribbean Sea, and sand that gives different shades from pure white to golden.
This volcanic island of Martinique, on the other hand, has always been a mixture of different peoples and cultures resulting from different occupations that have followed one another over the centuries. The approximately 400,000 inhabitants have European, African, and Indian derivations with their own ways of life very rich in diversity and contradictions, but at the same time also joyful and very welcoming.
As we said, Saint Lucia is instead one of the eight independent Lesser Antilles islands and among its countless points of interest, you can’t miss the iconic Piton mountains. Located southwest, these two mountains have become the island symbol worldwide. Although roughly only 800 meters high, their triangle shape has become iconic and panoramic. If you are a trekking lover, you cannot miss a walk among their paths, winding through the jungle of these two peaks.
What marinas do the Lesser Antilles offer?
Guadeloupe
Guadeloupe is geographically and administratively divided into two different areas, Grande-Terre and Basse-Terre, which meet at Pointe-à-Pitre, the largest city on the island.
Pointe-à-Pitre offers two marinas at its main port, Guadeloupe Port Caraïbes and Quai de la Marina. both with 50 berths.
In the Grande-Terre area, the island’s eastern part, there is the Yacht Club de Saint François, located about 36 km from Pointe-à-Pitre and equipped with 50 berths.
Finally, the largest marina is located in the western area of Basse-Terre and is the Marina Rivière-Sens Gourbeyre. It is located in the village of Rivière-Sens and offers 340 berths with a maximum length of 18 meters and a maximum draft of 2.5 meters.
Martinique
Marina du Marin, located in the south of the island, is the largest marina in Martinique and one of the largest in the Caribbean. It offers its customers 830 berths for boats up to 60 meters in length and a maximum draft of 4.8 meters. The property offers a complete package of services including restaurants, shops, and a team at your disposal 7 days a week.
There are two other small marinas, Marina Pointe Du Bout, located in Fort de France bay on the west coast, and Marina du Robert, on the east coast which however offers a limited number of berths for small boats.
Saint Lucia
Three are the main tourist ports in Saint Lucia and are all located in the northwestern part of the island. Capella Marigot Bay Marina, near Castries, the island’s capital, is a luxurious port with 40 berths also for large boats, up to 85 meters in length.
Further north, in Rodney Bay, takes place Rodney Bay Marina and Island Water World, both with 50 berths available.

Why is the Castellammare di Stabia Marina the Best Choice if you Desire to Sail and Discover the Gulf of Naples?
Probably still little known internationally, the city of Castellammare di Stabia and its marina are becoming increasingly popular as locations for boaters wishing to navigate the Campania archipelago and/or the Amalfi Coast.
This is due to its strategic geographical position to the Gulf of Naples and also to its proximity to some world-famous tourist sites such as Pompeii.
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER FROM CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA
Where is this marina located? How to reach it?
The city of Castellammare di Stabia and its marina are located south of the city of Naples in southern Italy. It overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea and is set on the coastal stretch of the Gulf of Naples, between the volcano Vesuvius and the Sorrento peninsula.
This southern Italian town can be easily reached either by car or train or by air. By car, it is necessary to take the highway towards Naples – Reggio Calabria. By train, again from Naples, it takes the Naples – Gragnano line and gets off at the Castellammare di Stabia stop.
However, the most comfortable mode is the plane. It is indeed possible to land at Naples Capodichino International Airport, located a few kilometers from both Naples and Castellammare di Stabia, and then reach the marina by taxi in a few minutes.
What services does Castellammare di Stabia offer to its customers?
Marina di Stabia tourist port is one of the best equipped and organized in the entire Neapolitan archipelago. It boasts 871 berths for boats up to 100 meters in length and depths on the quay up to 6 meters deep.
The quay is equipped with columns for the supply of electricity from 16 to 400 Amps and free Wi-Fi while mooring assistance is guaranteed 24 hours a day.
Among its services, Marina di Stabia is equipped with a restaurant, a launderette, a gym, and a play area for children as well as a convenient secure car park with 1,000 spaces complete with luggage trolleys.
At customers’ request, the marina provides transfers to and from Capodichino airport or to the Naples central railway station.
Why choose Castellammare di Stabia as a starting point?
In our opinion, Marina di Stabia is an ideal port for those boaters who, in addition to enjoying the sea and the famous places that overlook it, do not want to miss the nearby archaeological areas of Pompeii and Herculaneum or the fabulous gulf panorama seen from the top of Vesuvius or Mount Faito, both reachable in a few minutes by means of a suggestive funicular or an organized trip with off-road vehicles.

What places and attractions can you visit nearby?
Pompeii
This famous archaeological excavation site is located a short distance from the city of Castellammare di Stabia and can be reached in a few minutes by taxi from the tourist port.
Famous throughout the world, these are the archaeological excavations of two entire cities from the Roman era which in the year 79 AD were completely buried by the eruption of a volcano.
Today it is instead a majestic open-air museum that every year gives new discoveries and that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Vesuvius is one of the active Italian and European volcanoes. Due to its proximity to the population that lives and inhabits its slopes, it is also considered one of the volcanoes with the highest risk and therefore is constantly monitored.
The entire area, now part of the Vesuvius National Park, is nevertheless safe enough to be traveled by trekking lovers along its 11 paths for a total length of 54 kilometers.
The most coveted of these trails is certainly the one that leads up to the “Gran Cono”, the summit of the volcano, to experience the unique experience of walking along the crater of an active volcano.
Mount Faito
For all the inhabitants of the Sorrento peninsula, the mountain has only one name, Faito. This mountain, about 1400 meters high, is the highest point of the Lattari Mountains and marks the beginning of the Sorrento peninsula. It is a very popular destination especially in summer when it represents an escape from the hot and sultry days of the Italian summer.
The easiest way to reach the summit is to take the funicular that leaves from the station of Castellammare di Stabia.
What beauties can you reach by sailing from Castellammare di Stabia?
Sorrento
Sorrento is much more than a seaside resort. This town is the beating heart of the peninsula that bears his name and ideally is the gateway to the Amalfi Coast.
In addition to a historic center full of streets teeming with life, between bars, restaurants, and shops, Sorrento is full of historic villas that can be visited such as Villa Comunale, a unique beauty mansion characterized by a 5-star panorama.
The famous “Deep Valley of the Mills” is also worth a visit. It is a bed of a river now disappeared that once reached the sea where a mill was built for grinding wheat. The business continued until the early 1900s and then interrupted. The result is that dense vegetation has taken over the area, almost completely covering the traces of the activities that took place there (there was also a sawmill, a tuff quarry, and several caves used as cisterns for collecting rainwater). All in the historic center of Sorrento.
Capri
Capri has always been associated with glamorous and elite tourism even though it owes its fortunes to cruise tourism and day trips by tourists arriving from Naples and other coastal cities.
As for the things to do, one cannot fail to start with the magnificent Blue cave. An authentic wonder that can be visited with special boats.
Having a stop in its famous square is almost an obligation. You don’t need to stay long, just the time for a coffee is enough to savor the authentic life and the panorama of this beautiful town.
With 589 meters above sea level, Monte Solaro is instead the highest peak on the island. The easiest and most comfortable way to get to the top is the chairlift located in Vittoria square in Anacapri. From here you can enjoy a unique view that embraces the two gulfs of Naples and Salerno, the island of Ischia, and the legendary Faraglioni.
The latter is precisely the icon of Capri in the world. Do not miss the opportunity to circumnavigate them with your boat!
Amalfi Coast
This coast stretch is probably one of the most famous in the world. It is located along that promontory that extends towards the Tyrrhenian Sea and which is characterized by steep cliffs, cobalt blue sea and some world-famous towns.
If you’re wondering what is the reason for such fame, well it’s difficult to put into words. The place’s atmosphere, its landscapes, and its millenary history, combined with exceptional typical cuisine, can only give you an idea of what awaits you.
What better way to visit it than with a boat trip?
Just mentioning the main villages to which a visit is a must such as Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Furore, and Vietri Sul Mare. It is then worth climbing to the top of Ravello to enjoy a breathtaking view.

Lesser Antilles Tour: What Are The Best Available Marinas?
Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent. These 5 islands make up a large part of the Lesser Antilles and are the main tourist destinations for yachtsmen who love sailing, cruises, and organized trips.
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER IN THE LESSER ANTILLES
In this article we briefly list the characteristics of each, highlighting the main marinas from which to set sail or find refuge during a boat trip.
Here, then, listed from north to south, each island, and its marinas:
Guadeloupe
Among the most popular Caribbean destinations, Guadeloupe offers a perfect balance between wild and unspoiled nature, the absolute protagonist, and magnificent beaches among the most beautiful of the lesser Antilles. Among the many, we point out La Caravelle, a painted landscape with crystalline and turquoise waters, typical of the Caribbean Sea, and sand that gives different shades from pure white to golden.
Today Guadeloupe is part, like Martinique, of the French overseas territories.
How to get to the island?
Being formally French territory, Guadeloupe is well connected with France through several direct flights to and from Paris. The island’s international airport, not far from Pointe-à-Pitre, the capital, also allows direct air connections with North America as well as with the other major Caribbean islands.
What marinas does it offer?
Guadeloupe is geographically and administratively divided into two areas, Grande-Terre and Basse-Terre, which meet at Pointe-à-Pitre, the largest city on the island.
Pointe-à-Pitre offers two marinas at its main port, Guadeloupe Port Caraïbes and Quai de la Marina. both with 50 berths.
In the Grande-Terre area, in the eastern part of the island, there is the Yacht Club de Saint François, located about 36 km from Pointe-à-Pitre and equipped with 50 berths.
Finally, the largest marina is located in the western area of Basse-Terre and is the Marina Rivière-Sens Gourbeyre. It is located in the village of Rivière-Sens and offers 340 berths with a maximum length of 18 meters and a maximum draft of 2.5 meters.
Dominica
The island of Dominica is the least frequented by tourists also and above all because it cannot boast the classic beautiful Caribbean white sand beaches that attract the attention of travelers from all over the world.
The island’s interest is linked to sports activities and makes it a suitable destination for those looking for sports holidays such as trekking, diving, and snorkeling.
Endowed with an enviable natural landscape, Dominica has a wonderful hinterland with rainforests, lakes, thermal springs, and more than 200 rivers, all to be discovered strictly on foot armed with boots and adventure desire.
How to get to the island?
Although the island has two airports, Canefield, not far from the city of Roseau, and Melville Hall, in the northeastern part, it is not possible to reach it directly from either Europe or North America. Therefore it is necessary to make a stop in one of the other Caribbean islands of the lesser Antilles.
What marinas does it offer?
Due to its very nature, Dominica is not provided by real marinas. Our advice is to plan your visit using the nearby islands of Guadeloupe to the north and Martinique to the south as points of reference for your stops.
Martinique
This volcanic island has always been a mixture of different peoples and cultures resulting from different occupations that have followed one another over the centuries. The approximately 400,000 inhabitants have European, African, and Indian derivations with their own ways of life very rich in diversity with many contradictions, but at the same time also joyful and very welcoming.
Today Martinique is part of the overseas territories of France, the official language is French and the Euro is its valid currency.
How to get to the island?
It is possible to arrive here by air with direct flights from Paris and North America. The island Lamentin International Airport is located close to the capital, Fort-de-France.
What marinas does it offer?
Marina du Marin, located in the south of the island, is the largest marina in Martinique and one of the largest in the Caribbean. It offers its customers 830 berths for boats up to 60 meters in length and a maximum draft of 4.8 meters. The property offers a complete package of services including restaurants, shops, and a team at your disposal 7 days a week.
There are two other small marinas, Marina Pointe Du Bout, located in the Fort de France bay on the west coast, and Marina du Robert, on the east coast which however have a limited number of berths for small boats.
Saint Lucia
Saint Lucia is one of the eight independent islands of the Lesser Antilles and among its countless points of interest, you can’t miss the Piton mountains. Located southwest, these two mountains have become the island symbol worldwide. Although roughly only 800 meters high, their triangle shape has become iconic and panoramic. If you are a trekking lover, you cannot miss a walk among their paths, winding through the jungle of these two peaks.
How to get to the island?
Saint Lucia has two airports. Hewanorra International Airport, located on the remote southern end of the island, and George FL Charles Airport located northwest in the more touristy area. International flights land in Hewanorra, while those from other Caribbean islands and charters usually stop at George FL Charles.
What marinas does it offer?
The main tourist ports of Saint Lucia are 3 and they are all located in the northwestern part of the island. Capella Marigot Bay Marina, near Castries, the capital, is a luxurious port with 40 berths also for large boats, up to 85 meters in length.
Further north, in Rodney Bay, Rodney Bay Marina and Island Water World are within easy reach, both with 50 berths available.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
It is an archipelago made of 32 islands, most of which small and sparsely populated.
They are located between the islands of Santa Lucia and Grenada and are historically part of the British Empire as an English colony of the “Little Antilles”. They have been independent since 1961 but still part of the Commonwealth.
The official language is English but some local dialects deriving from French are also spoken.
How to get to the island?
The main airport is located on the main island, Saint Vincent, and is the Joshua Arnos Vale, located a short distance from Kingstown, the capital.
The airport serves international flights to and from the UK and North America.
What marinas does it offer?
The main tourist port of the island is located in its extreme south, not far from Arnos Vale airport. Blue Lagoon Marina is small (only 20 berths) but very well served with a customs and immigration office open 7 days a week. On request, it is also possible to stay overnight in the partner hotel.

Have you ever heard about the Windward Islands? Discover these exotic locations with us!
We often hear of these infamous islands as an exotic and highly sought-after location by boaters from all over the world, but which islands are exactly part of it? Where are they located and why are they called “Windward”? We will try to answer these and other questions in this article, also imagining what could be an itinerary by navigating the route of the Windward Islands. Let’s start!
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER IN THE WINDWARD ISLANDS
Where are they located and which are the Windward Islands?
The Windward Islands, also called the Barlovento Islands, are the southernmost group of islands in the Lesser Antilles, that long strip that ideally separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Caribbean Sea. They are in fact generally opposed to the Leeward Islands which instead constitute the north part.
Long dominated by the British Empire, today they consist of a series of autonomous or independent island states Martinique, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Saint Vincent, and the Grenadines, Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Why are they called this?
As it is easy to imagine, their name derives from the air currents that blow along these seas. They were named by the large sailing ships’ sailors that sailed the ocean from Africa pushed by trade winds and following a route that separated the Lesser Antilles into two parts. The islands south of this route were therefore named the Windward Islands.
The name Windward was also used to refer to the British Empire colony founded in 1833 and existed until 1960, which included these islands.
What is the best way to reach the Windward Islands?
This great archipelago’s main islands are Martinique, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent. Each one boasts an international airport with flights from the main world airports. However, it is necessary to take into account that you have to make one or more stopovers, depending on your place of departure.
What is the best period to visit them?
The ideal season to organize charters in the Windward Islands is more or less the same as in the Leeward Islands and runs from November to July when temperatures are very favorable and it is difficult to encounter bad weather. In the summer and autumn months, rough seas and monsoons are more frequent.
What could be a possible itinerary in the Windward Islands?
Here is what could be a possible 14-day itinerary dedicated entirely to these islands. We will fly to our marina in Martinique and then sail south, dedicating two full days to each destination. Below is a brief description of each place we will reach:
Martinique
Martinique is one of the Caribbean pearls. With its almost perfect climate, an average of 28 degrees all year round, and trade winds blowing constantly from the Atlantic ocean, it is a perfect island to be discovered by boat.
This volcanic island is a mixture of different peoples and cultures resulting from different occupations that have followed one another over the centuries. The approximately 400,000 today’s inhabitants have European, African, and Indian derivations and the mixture of their ways of life has given rise to a rich in diversity and contradictions population but at the same time joyful and very welcoming.
Today Martinique is part of the overseas territories of France, the official language is French and the Euro is its valid currency.
It is possible to arrive here by air with direct flights from Paris. The island has indeed an airport near the capital, Fort-de-France.
Another point of interest is the picturesque town of Soufriere, which takes its name from the nearby volcano now extinct. Creole culture buildings with gingerbread finishes and balconies overlooking alleys and streets create here an Old World atmosphere.
On the coast, it is worth a visit to Rodney bay, a well-served marina surrounded by protected waters that offers visitors easy access to restaurants, shops, and attractions.
In the nearby area, you can also reach beaches such as Reduit Beach or the picturesque Pigeon Island National Park surrounded by pristine waters.
Barbados
Barbados is the easternmost island in the Caribbean. For centuries British rule, only in 1966, it obtained its autonomy from London but still today it is politically linked to Great Britain. Like other islands in this part of the Caribbean, Barbados is also a mix of British, African, and Caribbean cultures. Years of British colonial influence have given Barbados the title of “Little England”, but the inhabitants have been able to assimilate English customs and traditions while maintaining their uniqueness.
Among the best beaches, we certainly include Crane Beach, a jewel hidden among rugged cliffs made of golden sand and clear waters, defined by many as the most beautiful beach in Barbados. Bathsheba is located on the east coast and is perfect for quiet coastal walks. Here you can admire the beautiful landscape between lush vegetation and rock formations such as the Mushroom Rock, a bizarre mushroom-shaped rock.
The capital Bridgetown is the only true city on the island. Its sun-kissed streets are home to rum shops and numerous “chattel houses”, typical very colorful wooden houses.
Mayreau
It is the smallest inhabited island of the Grenadines with a bay, Salt Whistle Bay, among the best that can be found in the Windward. Its crescent shape with fine golden sand and turquoise water is home to colorful fish.
Mayreau offers a good number of anchorages all along its coasts such as Saline Bay, Twassante Bay, and Carnash Bay.
If you are a diving lover, be sure to visit the shallow centuries-old wreck of the PURINI located just 12 meters underwater.
If, on the other hand, you prefer walking, you should know that in Mayreau there are no cars and it is, therefore, the perfect destination to be on foot or with e-bikes along its many paths.
Tobago Cays
East of Mayreau is this exceptional nature reserve which is home to green turtles, hawksbill and leatherback turtles, sea eagles, and nurse sharks.
Tobago Cays are a group of five uninhabited islets (Petit Rameau, Petit Bateau, Jamesby, Baradal, Petit Tabac). They are part of the Grenadines archipelago and are protected by a large coral reef called Horseshoe reef and a second smaller reef called World’s End Reef. The pristine waters, abundant varieties of fish, and lovely beaches make the Tobago Cays home to the wonderful Tobago Cays Marine Park.
This is the quintessential postcard Caribbean spot. A location where you can relax and forget the time passing.
Carriacou
We are talking about a small and quiet Caribbean paradise mostly unknown to tourists. Carriacou is surrounded by coral reefs and offers great snorkeling and scuba diving in waters teeming with reef fish, nurse sharks, barracudas, stingrays, spotted sea eagles, and even green turtles.

Yachts with swimming pools, a dip into luxury!
When it comes to mega-yachts, one of the characteristics that first catches the eye is the presence onboard one or more swimming pools. The modern yacht manufacturers are increasingly pushing the avant-garde in this direction, trying to offer their customers an increasingly detailed experience even while relaxing in soaking.
After all, what other yacht’s area, if not its swimming pool, enhances its beauty?
We present you a selection made of 8 of the best yachts with swimming pools in the world. There really is something for all needs! Let’s see:
Flying Fox – Lurssen 136 meters yacht with swimming pool 12 meters long
The real peculiarity of this yacht’s swimming pool is its position with respect to the aft deck that houses it. The only one of its kind, it is 12 meters long and is placed in a transverse position with respect to the bridge. This is possible thanks to this mega-yacht mammoth dimensions: built-in 2019 by the manufacturer Lurssen, with its 136 meters in length by 22.5 in width it is rightly part of the special ranking of the largest yachts in the world. It can accommodate up to 36 people.
Among the various comforts, its pool is equipped with hydromassage jets and a transparent glass front panel that offers a unique view towards the horizon but which can become completely opaque with a simple touch of a button, in order to ensure maximum privacy.
Savannah – Feadship 83,5 meters yacht with swimming pool
Built by Feadship and delivered in 2015, the Savannah yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins and up to 24 crew members. It is 83.5 meters long and inside its guests enjoy, among various comforts, a luxurious spa, and a hammam. However, one of her jewels in its cap is the 9-meter swimming pool with a very particular and refined design. An example of this is the mosaic created on its backdrop. The outdoor spaces are also well-finished with a C-shaped sofa and a series of sun loungers.
Seven Sins – San Lorenzo 52 meters yacht with swimming pool
The swimming pool of this 52 meters Sanlorenzo series Steel is a real gem. It was designed to obtain maximum brightness and it is for this reason that both the bottom and the panels that surround it are in transparent glass. The effect enjoyed by the beach club below is spectacular. This pool is also equipped with night lighting for long and romantic baths in the moonlight. The Seven Sins yacht was launched in 2017 and can accommodate up to 10 guests in five cabins excellently served by a crew of 11 members. The interiors, starting with the large and elegant main hall, shine with natural light thanks to the generous use of windows distributed on all decks.
Madsummer – Lurssen 95 meters yacht with swimming pool
For a yacht the size of the Madsummer, its swimming pool could only be the highlight. Located aft of the main deck, it is 12 meters long and features an integrated Jacuzzi. Large sundecks are located on both sides of the pool and are protected by the glass to ensure maximum privacy. This yacht was built by builder Lurssen and entered service in 2019 and can accommodate up to 12 guests. With its 95 meters in length, the space dedicated to fitness and wellness is really a lot. It hosts a wide range of onboard facilities including a gym and a dedicated spa for beauty treatments and massages.
Alfa Nero – Oceanco 82 meters mega-yacht with swimming pool
The designer’s inventiveness of this superyacht knows no bounds and has had its maximum expression in designing its swimming pool. The latter is in fact a 7-meter long pool located aft of the main deck. Its great feature is that it can raise the bottom until it reaches the level of the bridge in order to become, when necessary, a dance floor or a helicopter landing pad. It is no coincidence that a large letter H is drawn on the bottom of the pool. Launched in 2007 by the builder Oceanco, Alfa Nero is an 82-meter mega-yacht that can accommodate up to 12 guests on board with a crew of up to 26 members.
Titania – Lurssen 72 meters yacht with swimming pool
This fantastic yacht has a large hydromassage pool with a swim-up bar positioned on her upper deck. The perfect place to relax after a whole day spent enjoying the myriad of water games that it has to offer. Titania offers guests a huge inflatable water park, including a trampoline, playground, and 13-meter inflatable slide, one of the largest superyachts slides ever built. For those who want a relaxing holiday instead, a beautician and a hairdresser are always available among the 21 crew members who can offer a range of treatments in a dedicated spa room. This 72-meter superyacht was launched in 2006 by Lurssen and can accommodate 12 guests.
Icon – Icon 67,5 meters yacht with swimming pool
Launched by Icon Yachts in 2010, this 67.5-meter superyacht underwent a complete refit in 2014. Among the various improvements, a new infinity pool embellished with glass elements on the front stands out on the stern of the main deck. The bottom was also made of glass to illuminate the beach club below. MY Icon can accommodate up to 12 guests and four of its seven cabins offer direct access to the beach club for added convenience. An additional Jacuzzi is located on the main deck.
Legend – 77 meters yacht with swimming pool
This superyacht was converted from a former Soviet icebreaker. The Legend is an explorer yacht over 77 meters long and designed for cruises in the cold waters of northern Europe. For this reason, a fantastic thermal pool, fed by a waterfall, has been installed which has space for 16 people. Boasting an impressive range of 7,640 nautical miles, this yacht was refurbished in 2016 and can accommodate up to 26 guests in 13 cabins, with a crew of 19.

Want to discover Martinique and the Grenadines? Here are two boat itineraries 7 and 14 days for your next Caribbean break!
Are you undecided on where to organize your next trip? Do you want to visit the Caribbean but are undecided on which is the best destination? Let yourself be inspired by this article in which we will list two itineraries, one shorter and one longer, to discover some of the islands that make up the Lesser Antilles archipelago.
CONTACT OUR CHARTER MANAGERS FOR PERSONALISED ASSISTANCE
The itineraries we have chosen allow you to discover a part of the Lesser Antilles, that is, a group of volcanic islands arranged in an arch and located south-east of the Greater Antilles that ideally separate the Caribbean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. This series of small islands is famous for being one of the best places to cruise, offering calm waters sheltered from strong winds and a considerable number of moorings.

To view in detail all the stops and spots of the above boat itineraries, ready carefully our article.
For our itineraries, we will use the island of Martinique, one of the most famous islands of this Caribbean archipelago, as the starting point and base camp.
Related: Why choose Martinique for your next Caribbean cruise destination?
It is possible to arrive here by air with direct flights from Paris. The island has indeed an airport near the capital, Fort-de-France.
This volcanic island has always been a mixture of different peoples and cultures resulting from different occupations that have followed one another over the centuries.
Today Martinique is part of the overseas territories of France, the official language is French and the Euro is its valid currency.
7 days around the Grenadines from Martinique
As we said, our tour starts on the Martinique island and more precisely from the modern Le Marin marina. Here we have the opportunity to prepare our boat (yacht, catamaran, or sailboat) and to carry out the briefing with the crew before departure.
Le Marin marina also offers a wide range of services and amenities including a supermarket, a bakery, a launderette, a post office, a tobacconist’s, a money exchange office, and a medical center.
Day 1
Martinique, Fort de France
The largest city in the French Antilles and the capital of Martinique, Fort de France is centrally located and easily accessible. It is a city rich in 19th-century history and architecture as well as offering its visitors a full range of shops, dining experiences and places to explore. Examples of this are the fruit and vegetable market founded in 1901, the Saint-Louis Cathedral, and the fort Saint-Louis.
It is worth spending a day in the jovial atmosphere of this city.
Day 2
Martinique, Anse du Céron
One of the most famous beaches on the island where you can enjoy some peace and tranquility between swimming and snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of this bay. Anse du Ceron is located in the northernmost part of the Martinique west coast.
Day 3
Martinique, Grande Anse D’Arlet
One of the most popular seaside towns in Martinique, it offers a truly characteristic and colorful glimpse into the life of the island. Tourists can choose whether to enjoy the golden sandy beach more than half a mile long, swim in crystal clear waters protected from the winds by the bay, or get lost in the narrow streets of the town.
Day 4
Saint Lucia, Rodney Bay
From Martinique, we head south towards and precisely towards the island of Santa Lucia. Here we discover Rodney bay, a well-served marina surrounded by protected waters that offers visitors easy access to restaurants, shops, and attractions.
Near the bay, you can reach a scenic area, beaches such as Reduit Beach, or the picturesque Pigeon Island National Park surrounded by pristine waters.
Day 5 – Day 6
Saint Lucia
Dedicating just one day to Saint Lucia seems very little to us and it is for this reason that we decide to stop in its waters for a few days, discovering some of its wonders.
Santa Lucia is one of the eight independent islands of the Lesser Antilles and among its countless points of interest, we certainly find the Piton mountains. located southwest, these two mountains have become the symbol of the island. Although roughly only 800 meters high, their triangle shape has become iconic and panoramic. If you love trekking, you cannot miss a walk among the paths that wind through the jungle of these two peaks.
Another island pearl is the picturesque town of Soufriere, which takes its name from a nearby volcano that is now extinct. Creole culture buildings with gingerbread finishes and balconies overlooking the alleys and streets create an Old World atmosphere.
Day 7
The time has come to decide whether or not to continue our tour. In the first case, we will head to Martinique to relax for one last day before departure, in the second case, the tour continues!
Got more time? Let’s add some more destination:
14 days boat itinerary to the Grenadines departing from Martinique
Day 8 – Day 9
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Determined to continue our boat charter in the Caribbean, we always head south to the island of Saint Vincent, the largest island in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines country.
These territories have long been disputed, France and Britain fought for the island in the 18th century until it was ceded to the British in 1783, which is why English is the official language even though many locals speak a Creole dialect.
The island is a paradise with beautiful beaches like Wallilabou where scenes from the famous Pirates of the Caribbean movie were filmed.
In the restaurants of the capital, Kingstown, you can enjoy delicious Creole cuisine based on seafood such as crabs and lobsters.
Day 10
Bequia
A short sailing will take you to anchor at Admiralty Bay, Bequia’s main port on the west side of this island.
Bequia is better known for its lively nightlife and entertainment spots. In its main center, Port Elizabeth, the craftsmen work with wood building various sizes of wooden boats. Here you can also find fairs and markets where you can stock up on souvenirs.
Day 11
Balinceaux
Not far from Bequia, sailing south-east we find Baliceaux. A little bigger than a rock, it is another small pearl of the Grenadines.
It is nicknamed “the Cinderella of the Grenadines” due to the fact that, unlike the other neighboring islands, it is practically ignored by tourist flows. This fact, however, makes it exotic and mysterious.
Day 12
Mustique
The most exclusive island of the Grenadines. In fact, sumptuous estates and resorts have been built along the green slopes that characterize it, overlooking the pristine white sand beaches and the turquoise sea full of coral reefs.
Celebrities, business magnates, and royalty have made the island a haven for a select few but still rich in nature and unspoiled beauty.
Day 13 – Day 14
Tobago Cays
The Tobago Cays are a group of five uninhabited islets in the Antilles (Petit Rameau, Petit Bateau, Jamesby, Baradal, Petit Tabac).

Preveza, one of the best greek cities to start a charter boat trip tour of the Ionian Islands!
Today we talk about one of the most strategic places to stop and go to the discovery of the Greek Ionian Islands by boat or yacht charter: Preveza
Preveza: where are we located?
Gateway to the Gulf of Arta, Preveza is a city in mainland Greece that overlooks the Ionian Sea and is part of the Epirus region. Going up the Greek west coast, it is located a few nautical miles north of the Lefkada island and southeast of the Paxos island.
GET INSTANT QUOTE FOR CHARTER FROM PREVEZA
Founded after the abandonment of the nearby Greek-Roman city of Nikopolis, whose visitable remains are located about 6 km north of Preveza, it was for a long time dominated by the Venetians first and then by the Ottomans, becoming the ground of numerous naval battles for the domain of this area.
How to get there and what to see in Preveza?
This Greek town is now easily accessible thanks to the convenient national airport of Aktion, located a few minute’s drives south of Preveza. Alternatively, again by air, it is possible to stop at the international airport of Corfu and then reach the city via a comfortable ferry in about 3 hours.
Preveza is an enchanting village with its splendid pier, a marina full of yachts with dozens of restaurants, and a pedestrian center full of shops.
The city was once surrounded by forts, many of which are now destroyed. Behind the delightful old town, however, still remain three castles: Kastro Agios Andreas, Kastro Agios Georgios, and Kastro Pantokratoras. All of them date back to the nineteenth century and are witnesses of a fully clashed history between cultures that took place there.
The church of Agios Haralambos is also not to be missed. Restored in 1793, in its inside preserves splendid icons and gold-colored sculptures. Adjacent to the church, the bell tower, dating back to 1752, is also worth a visit.
The mentioned archaeological site of Nikopolis is also important. Here are located ruins of the city founded by the Roman emperor Augustus after his victory over the allied armies of Antony and Cleopatra obtained in 31 BC, Battle fought in these waters.
Greece is obviously synonymous with beaches and we cannot fail to mention those that can be discovered along the 60 kilometers of coastline that separate Preveza from the city of Parga. Among the most renowned are Monolithi, Alonaki Fanariou, Valtos, Lychnos, Ammoudia, Lygia and many others.
Preveza: a strategic starting point for the Ionian
Due to its strategic position on the Ionian Sea, the city offers navigation lovers a perfect starting point to visit the most important Greek Ionian islands.
Protected waters and a multitude of small safe anchorages, often only accessible by yacht, ensure a pleasant sailing experience.
VIEW ALL THE BOATS OF THE IONIAN ISLANDS
This is indeed a perfect place for a cruise. The weather is always good during the summer months and the afternoon breeze makes it an ideal area for sailing lovers too.
Now we are going to propose you two itineraries to follow by boat. The first last 7 days while the second, lengthening the journey, last 14 days:
7 days Boat Itinerary from Preveza to the North:
Sailing from Preveza to the north, the islands of Antipaxos, Paxos, and Corfu welcome us.
Antipaxos is the first island we find on our route. Here the best beaches are both sandy and are called Vrika and Voutoumi. White fine sand, light as powder and soft as a pillow. Both north of the island, they are a color and nature true enchantment.
Paxos, unlike Antipaxos, does not offer many sandy beaches even though its waters are still among the most transparent of the archipelago.
Among the various attractions, we recommend the pretty and charming seaside town of Lakka. Its inhabited center is very romantic with its houses of clear Venetian inspiration It is the starting point for suggestive boat excursions that allow you to visit some of the caves and coves on the rocky coast of the island, such as the spectacular Ypapanti cave.
Corfu is known for its white beaches and crystal clear sea, as well as for its unspoiled nature. In addition to the naturalistic beauties, it is also famous for its wild nightlife that attracts many young people every summer.
The island is characterized by a series of splendid beaches, including Paleokastritsa beach, considered the most beautiful on the island.
Myrtiotissa is instead characterized by a rather wild aspect, with high cliffs surrounding it.
Finally, the beach of Agios Georgios Pagi is instead characterized by its golden sand and is five kilometers long. The sea that bathes it has an emerald color and is characterized by rather high-end tourism.
For those not worried about time flows, it is worth extending your holiday and also discovering the Ionian islands south of Preveza.
Lefkada is the island closest to Preveza and has, according to many, the best Greek beaches:
Porto Katsiki
Let’s start with the most wanted! The beach each year enters the list of the most beautiful coasts in Europe. The white pebbles, the crystal clear water, and the amphitheater of rocks that forms behind the coast are an unforgettable picture.
Amoussa
Very well protected from the wind and from the waves. It is a long, narrow bay ending with a small strip of white pebbles turning into fine sand as soon as you enter the water.
Gialos
Near the Athani village, there is another wonder of nature. Gialos beach is a long and wide expanse of white sand and small pebbles entirely surrounded by unspoiled nature.
Egremni
One of the symbols of Lefkada. You can reach it by taking the so-called “Stairway to Heaven”, a more than three hundred steps stairway that winds through the rocks from the parking, or simply getting there by your boat.
Kefalonia, with its coastline made up of over 200 kilometers, is a real paradise for sea lovers and is simply perfect as a destination for a trip on a sailing boat or on a yacht. Follow some of the best beaches of the island:
Myrtos Beach is counted among the 30 most beautiful beaches in the world. It is the symbol of the island of Kefalonia but it is also one of the most famous Greek beaches. It is located in the Pylaros region, in the north-west of the island.
Related: Kefalonia, Ionian sea pearl island, is one of the most wanted boat location for summer 2021
Antisamos Beach is a very popular beach with a wild scenery of unique beauty and it is no coincidence that it has often been the set of movies set in Greece.
Xi beach is a very special beach made of red sand, about 3 km long and framed by clay cliffs.
Zante, also known as Zakynthos, is the legendary island where the poet Ugo Foscolo, who dedicated his most famous composition to it, and, according to the myth, also the goddess Venus was born.
The iconic Shipwreck Beach, one of the most famous beaches of all the Greek islands, is its symbol. A true postcard image.
Today the island of Zakynthos seems to have developed a double personality: a more touristic part, invaded by mass tourism, and a more peaceful part in the promontories and in the less-traveled areas, perfect for those looking for a slow-paced holiday.
Related: Sailing in Zakynthos for Creating Beautiful Memories
An island is still a place where you can seek nature contact. Thanks to the establishment of a natural park, turtles still come to the island’s beaches every year to lay their eggs.

The historical Italian brand Perini Navi has been declared bankrupt
The Italian brand, an icon of yachting worldwide, risks disappearing from the market forever due to the serious financial crisis that has hit it in recent years and which has led to this sad ending.
In fact, the latest attempt by the property, which in May 2020 presented a restructuring plan for the debt accumulated by the Italian company, was worthless.
The plan was not considered suitable by the court of the city of Lucca which a few days ago declared the definitive bankruptcy of Perini Navi.
The causes of Perini Navi’s bankrupt
The Viareggio manufacturer, the legend of Italian shipbuilding, had already suffered a bad economic backlash in 2008, due to the financial crisis which then led to a world crisis. The economic crisis of those years in fact involved the entire nautical sector with a dramatic decline of over 90% and the failure of an impressive number of shipyards and operators in this sector.
The slow decline of the company begins in these years and they will no longer be able to recover, collecting a long series of errors that have condemned it to the sad ending we are witnessing today.
The first signs of the real difficulty of the shipyard date back to 2017, which sees the entry of the Tabacchi family as shareholders which, during the following year, acquired the majority of the company.
The new management, unfortunately, fails to solve the shipyard’s problems which are instead gradually worsening.
Thus we come to the present day when crushed by over 100 million debts, the company presented a restructuring plan which, among other things, provided for the entry of the Blue Sky investment fund with a capital share of 30 million euros.
However, the court considered the guarantees offered insufficiently and in recent days bankruptcy was declared with the shipyard put into provisional operation and the bankruptcy trustee Franco Della Santa was placed at the helm of the company.
A final rescue hypothesis actually came, a few months ago, from the Sanlorenzo shipyard which seemed to be interested in taking over the company and had made an offer to the Tabacchi family. However, everything was resolved in nothing.
Perini Navi: a brand rich in history and innovation
Perini Navi, born in 1983, was, until the 2008 crisis, one of the stars of Italian shipbuilding in the world.
Born from the genius of Fabio Perini who, as a worker in the paper district, made his fortune by inventing modern machines to produce soft toilet paper.
Over the years, the success and fame of this company grew considerably, becoming more and more internationally known. Many illustrious personalities such as Rupert Murdoch and Silvio Berlusconi trusted their yards.
The turning point that made this brand famous all over the world was the invention of the so-called “easy sailing”, a system capable of considerably reducing the number of crew members needed to steer large ships and yachts. How? The key was the invention of the reel captive winch, a system of automatic winches, driven by electronically controlled electric motors that allowed a small crew to remotely control a large number of previously manual operations.
Ships became works of art before the bankrupt
Over the years, the Perini shipyards have given birth to some of the most admired boats ever.
Starting with the first sailing yacht built in 1983, the Felicità, (today Clan VI) 40 meters long, this glorious brand has given life to many orders.
From the Maltese Falcon, a 88 meters long sailing yacht armed with the so-called “Falcon Rig” with three rotating carbon masts and quadrangular sails for 2,400 square meters of surface, passing through the 48-meter Morning Glory sold to Rupert Murdoch or even the 42 meters Princess Vaivia by Silvio Berlusconi, just to name the best known.
Since 2004, during September, a long series of yachts had an appointment in Porto Cervo, at the Costa Smeralda Yacht Club, for the Perini Cup, a Perini Navi-branded sailing ships reserved regatta.
Now what?
Today the only possibility for the brand to survive seems to be a bankruptcy auction. Among the possible participants, there are certainly the Ferretti and Sanlorenzo shipyards, both Italian, which had already expressed interest in the past.
The hope is that some of these big players will consider the opportunity of investment and step forward to buy the company, saving the prestigious brand and the approximately 100 jobs it guarantees.
The verification of the company’s liabilities is scheduled for the next 22 of June. It will take time, subsequently, to understand what will become of the factory.
Meanwhile, the employees currently in force at the company will be placed partly in layoffs and partly will probably continue to work to finish the latest orders in progress, including the sailboat of Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle.

Discovering Procida, the 2022 Italian Culture Capital, during a boat tour!
Recently elected the next Italian capital of culture for the year 2022, the island of Procida is a true jewel whose fame has reached all over the world. For example, just take a peek at some photographs on the internet to recognize the village of “La Corricella” with its colorful houses that have made it a famous set of internationally renowned movies.
So let’s discover this pearl of the Mediterranean Sea in our virtual journey aboard a rental boat.
Where are we located?
We are in Italy and precisely in the Gulf of Naples. We are therefore facing the southern Tyrrhenian Sea. From the city, navigating the north-west, you will meet the famous Flegree islands, including the best known Ischia and Procida, which owe this name to the geological area which both belong called the “Campi Flegrei”.
Together with Capri, they make up what is called the Campania archipelago (from the name of the Campania region) or the better known Parthenopean archipelago.
What does it mean to be “capital of culture”?
Having received this appointment from the Italian institutions is a source of great pride for all the Procida inhabitants. Especially since it is the first island to receive this consecration, usually destined for cities.
Among the many candidates to receive this coveted Italian award, we recall a very special one, Matera, which was nominated in 2019.
It is not just a question of recognition but rather a push to be the number one tourist pole of the country throughout the year, organizing cultural events that involve famous artists and locals.
In short, one more reason to discover this island, even better if you do it onboard your rental boat!
Why visit Procida in 2022 during a boat tour?
Procida embodies the charm of a seaside village, with the characteristic colorful architecture that is reflected on the sea and a unique coastline largely protected by the creation of a protected marine area. It is no coincidence that its views have been the backdrop to numerous movies such as Massimo Troisi’s “Il Postino” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley” with Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jude Law.
The entire island is divided into 9 districts where you can still breathe the millenary history of this island and where its traces are still visible today. We cannot fail to recommend a visit to at least some of these locations, starting from Terra Murata:
Fortified center located at the highest point of the island and overlooking the sea, Terra Murata is a place of extreme beauty that can only be reached via a steep climb from which you can admire a breathtaking view over the entire Gulf of Naples.
What makes this a special place are not only the medieval fortifications with the two long-range cannons dating back to the Neapolitan Republic of the ‘700 but also the famous Palazzo d’Avalos (1563) which first became a Royal Palace and later a prison who was active until 1988. Today it is a suggestive tourist place where there are still visible remains of that era.
A visit to the village of Corricella, an icon village of the island in the world with its cluster of colorful houses overlooking the marina, cannot be missed.
This village, dotted with narrow streets, can only be reached by sea or on foot, descending from panoramic steps. The most beautiful panorama, on the other hand, can be enjoyed from the Belvedere di Callìa, overlooking sea location where it is possible to see the Capri island and the Terra Murata promontory.
In our opinion, the perfect place to drop off the anchor!
Beaches and other places of naturalistic interest:
Among the beaches of Procida, we certainly recommend those of Pozzovecchio and Ciraccio, both exposed on the west side of the coast.
Then, you cannot miss an excursion to the islet of Vivara.
Declared a natural reserve, it is a land crescent, the edge of a volcanic crater that is now submerged, uninhabited, and miraculously escaped the building siege, connected to Procida by a bridge.
Once a hunting reserve of the Borbone royal family, today it is the ideal destination for an excursion into the thick of the Mediterranean bush

Where can i boat in Miami?
In our previous article, we have already dealt with Miami, assuming to organize a boat trip here discovering the attractions of this place: Miami is on your bucket list?
Today we focus instead on what everyone considers as “Miami” but in reality is a city within the city, Miami Beach, discovering it on our rental boat.
Here we go!
Miami or Miami Beach?
Let’s start by explaining the main misunderstanding.
When we imagine a trip to Miami, what immediately comes to mind? Well, most of the time we think of wide and long white beaches, pedestrian streets full of bright and colorful clubs, crowded with luxury cars. Maybe we can even see those ports full of VIPs yachts and boats
Well, this isn’t actually Miami but Miami Beach! Perhaps it is better to say that it is a Miami within Miami.
Where can I boat in Miami?
Yes because, for over a century, Miami Beach has been a distinct municipality part of the Miami-Dade district. However, we are all used to confusing them as we have always heard about this Florida city like Miami.
On the other hand, this is the entertainment area, where millions of tourists are concentrated searching for sun, sea, and fun.
Where is exactly Miami Beach located?
Identifying it is very simple. Miami Beach is a long, narrow island (actually a collection of islands and islets) that runs north to south along the Florida coast. On one side it is bathed by the Biscayne bay waters and on the other by the Atlantic Ocean.
The city is bordered to the south by two large islands, Dodge and Lummus Island, which form the Port of Miami, the largest cruise port in the world. To the north, instead, from the residential districts of Bal Harbor and Surfside.
Where to start our itinerary?
The first place to drop anchor is definitely in front of south beach.
South Beach is the neighborhood with which Miami Beach and perhaps Miami, in general, is identified.
Located south of Miami Beach, between streets 5 and 41, this South Beach neighborhood has hundreds of Art Deco-style buildings, popular areas like Ocean Drive, and, of course, some of Miami’s most wanted beaches.
Ocean Drive in particular is a street in South Beach that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and from which is divided by a strip of palm trees and a wide sidewalk. It is known for its Art Deco-inspired hotels and is one of the most iconic streets in the Art Deco District.
This street is very popular both during the day, when the beach and the sidewalk are populated with people and at night when it is colored with the lights of many clubs, including restaurants and bars that enliven the Miami Beach nights.
The artificial neighborhood islands:
Still south of the city, but this time in the Biscayne Bay, the famous Star, Hibiscus, and Palm island is really worth navigating.
Three artificial islands built by subtracting land from the sea and known to be inhabited by famous people who live or have lived in the various villas in the area.
Why and where to boat in Miami?
There may be many reasons for choosing a boat as your base for visiting Miami Beach over the classic hotel room. First of all the fact of living an experience out of the ordinary.
What drives us to recommend this type of holiday here is that the city lends itself, more than many others, to being discovered far and wide with this means of transport.
If you want more information about Miami but also about other destinations to experience aboard a sailboat or yacht, do not hesitate!
Let contact Your Boat Holiday for any questions or information needed for a yacht charter in Miami!

Best Places to Go After You Avail Yacht Rentals in Greece
All set for the big holiday?
Have you chosen your yacht rentals in Greece for the vacation? As in, crewed motor yacht or skippered catamaran?
Well, now is the time to plan out the itinerary.
Get ready to unravel the treasured places of the surreal Greece!
Athens
When in Greece, you gotta sail in Athens! Yes!
Athens – the largest city and Greece’s capital – houses the most exotic and colossal Greek history. Acropolis is a must-visit here as it has the iconic Parthenon along with the demure-robed maidens, which we know as Caryatids that supports Erechtheion temple’s roof.
Ancient Agora down the Acropolis is the predicament where Socrates explicated his philosophy. The other eminent sites of Athens are Olympian Zeus’ temple, the Panathenaic Stadium, and Hadrian’s Arch alongside Roman Agora’s reminiscent Tower of the Winds.
Additionally, the café culture in Greece has widely developed from Athens. You can see Greeks at every corner of its streets indulging in that lazy and lingering chat-filled kafedaki. Order coffees the Greek way – sketo (plain ones), metrio (with little sugar), or glyko (super sweet) – and take a sip leisurely sitting in that picturesque café as you watch the by-passers and teenagers chitchat!
Cape Sounion
As you leave those shores of Athens, the yacht rentals in Greece will usually head towards Cape Sounion. There, you’ll find the Poseidon Temple that can be reached easily by foot from ashore. The pleasant time to visit this 444BC temple perched on a cliff edge is during the early mornings or as the sun sets forming an exquisite backdrop. Your vessel can drop anchor in the northern side of this bay as it offers good holding due to the presence of weed and sand patches.
Cape of Columns is situated 5 miles south to ancient Thoricus’ town and 43 miles from south-eastern parts of Athens facing the southernmost tip of Attic peninsula. The view of this temple is magnificent; your cruising trip will remain unfinished if you don’t visit this solitude shrine along your way!
Kea
In proximity to Attica, Kea is that small island that lies opposite to Lavrion port. Kea is embedded in traditional vibes and is a favourite holiday destination for all Athenians. Kea is also for people who hire luxury yachts in Greece and want to stay close to Athens.

Quiet beaches with breath-taking scenic views of Otzias and Koundouros support numerous water sports. Both of them receive plentiful yachts because of the refurbished stone mills and picturesque beaches.
Santorini
Luxury yachts in Greece cruise to the west of Sifnos, surpassing an astonishing island of Ios which is more or less a barren island that comes to life during high seasons.
As you get near the ravishing Santorini, you’ll realise it is exactly what you have seen in those postcards. With multi-hued volcanic seashores like red, black, and white, and impressive sunsets, this is nirvana for travel enthusiasts worldwide.
Cruise along the majestic Cyclades and other islands with yacht rentals in Greece. There will be moments to cherish and revere for a lifetime!
