first off, surprising no one who knows me, Heera! Specifically her S1-S3 design (the iconic purple hair comes S4 onwards lol). She first appears in the Chasing Paper caper in the museum after the Magna Carta’s disappearance, so I drew a scene from that! For those who don’t know her, she’s an absolutely deranged, eerily competent, nuisance of a detective and she’s my baby gril

next up, Deepa and Kei (Codename: Shadow)! So these are older OCs but I decided to reboot their designs! Gave Deepa new clothes and made Kei more fat… more masc… etc etc. your honour I haven’t forgotten about them I still love them saur much. Also Deepa is a team red OC, she’s also a mechanic along with Ivy!

To be honest, this one might by far not be the worst they have done, but it is undeniably very disturbing. And the way the edited the "One day more" quote may be the least uncanny thing here. They also edited snowflakes in the picture, a Christmas tree on the barricade and a Christmas hat on (I think ?) Enjolras's head... knowing that the men on this barricade are throwing a revolution. In which all of them will die painfully. What's more, this revolution canonically and historically takes place at the beginning of June. Which means this picture is the worst thing they could possibly have chose to illustrate the Christmas spirit. Also, as many people have mentionned, this year was the 200th anniversary of Valjean meeting Cosette in the woods, so... perhaps they could have done something about that instead ?

Mean Girls (2024) Thoughts:

Mean Grils The Remake the Musical the Movie 2024 edition starring Reneé Rapp was a flacid retelling of both the iconic 2001 film as well as the, less iconic but still pretty fetch musical.

I've seen a lot of "buts" regarding its quality, especially budget and intent which translates firmly to "cope" when I hear it stated. The film is fine; not great, but fine. It's as servicable as a film can be but not due to any merit of its own.

There are two sides to the dicotomy of looking at it, of course through the lense of it remaking the original film, and that of it being that, plus the musical and in attempting to replicate both, it fails to emulate either.

The original is objectively, hilarious. It is fast paced, punchy, genuinely mean and wastes no time. Here the replication of lines word for word fail to land at all, having worse comedic timing, as well as acting and especially editing to accompany it. When the iconic line "On Wednesdays we wear pink" is uttered it isn't really preceeded by anything to logically let it happen for example, it genuinely feels like there was a cut and time skip of dilague, it's bizarre.

Pacing is a big plus towards my enjoyment of the original film. This pacing is naturally going to be effected by the musical elements of the Broadway show. While the emulation of the original film is lacking, bringing the musical moments to a proper cinematic landscap could truly elevate the, fun but limited musical....This film does not do that.

For one, the instrumental and vocal quality is far, FAR worse. The track compsition is synthesised as all hell, whereas the original Broadway tracks serve them fully with proper orchestration, and a decent range of styles and genres to make everything cohesive and tonally parallel even the original film's OST well. The music here is downbeat and boring, they barely even bothered to adapt the broadway score faithfully, and had to change melodies anbd notes for the accomodation of, making songs sound poppier or in Angourie Rice's case, casting people who cannot perform a broadway-esque score.

The film isn't all bad however. Of course Reneé Rapp is incredible (They shouldn't have changed the vocalisation of her songs) Avantika as Karen and Auli'i Cravalho were also pretty good, and Audli'i especially sounded like they were trying, or perhaps even let, to give the most "Broadway-esque" performance of the film. Didn't save any of them from the objectively horrendous sound mixing or editing however.

Overall there's just, very little reason to watch this, other than, not liking musical bootlegs maybe? In that instance I'd suggest getting over whatever bias you have about that because life will be easier after, but if you can't; watch the original film, then listen to the cast recording. Best of both worlds, unlike this, homunculous of a creation that is nothing.
