Tea Newbie Tip #5 - Iced Tea

Summer is on the way, you’ve been enjoying steeping hot teas during the cold winter season but now you want something cool, crisp and refreshing for the hot season approaching. What do you need?

Luckily brewing homemade iced tea is very simple. All you need is a simple iced tea pitcher. Most tea retailers sell a variety of iced tea pitchers in the summer. Usually made either from glass or BPA free plastic, such as the one below.

Most of the pitchers will come with an easy to clean tea infuser. You can also use a pitcher with a filtered lip and let your leaves sit loose and free in the pitcher (which is my favorite way to do it). My advice would be to start out with a simple plastic pitcher. They are usually on sale in the summer and last a very long time if properly maintained. They allow you to make large amounts of iced tea at a time and are excellent for entertaining guests. One of these handy, easy to use pitchers will run you somewhere in the ball park of $20-$25 give or take for sales that might be on at the time.

Sometimes you can even find great package deals at some stores, that come with a pitcher and an assortment of seasonal iced tea flavors. DavidsTea for example sells an excellent variety of iced tea packets already portioned out for a pitchers worth of tea.
