Please share my page and the work I do caring, supporting and empowering individuals and families who want to or already ventured into gestation, birth and everything else pregnancy brings. Sure, most of what I do is at a steep price cut, and I'm guilty of providing EVEN more low to no cost doula care & support to ya'll. I cant help it. This work, it has got to be done. No excuses. I am here, a wealth of knowledge & skills set thanks to the great investments made by me and my amazing community and supporters ( @Arturo Roman @Denise Bolds @Sabrina Kline @Anastasia Libovich @Nubia Earth Martin @Sakina OU'huru, @Meredith Coronato @Nneka Hall and so MANY more). May it be by getting me some placentas to teach with or encapsulate, helping me when I need a new shirt or four (used is new to me...lol), training me to be an amazing and skilled midwifes assistant, gifting me an entire midwifes bag FULL to the brim with tools including the bag so I dont fuck up my back some more. Or, allowing me the honor of being part of the midwifes team. Thank you all for getting me (I'm a mix of brainy, geeky and hood- what can I say, I'shmart) and entrusting me. Muahh!! Oh, oh...and let's not forget the amazing people and families who put all their trust in me, the skills I've earned and my guidance. Ive been chosen by so many- thank you! Most parents dont see their placentas after they birth. Most are not allowed to take their time and birth the placenta becuase the vast majority are birthing in hospital institutions. The placenta is many cultures is believed to hold twin similarities to the baby. Why? Because it is genetically exact to the baby AND its parent. That's why it is important for you to take it home with you. If you leave it behind your essentially making a donation to the hospital and they can do what ever they want with it and they do. Listen, I'm tryin to get the message through. Doula Support & Care, as well as Professional development cannot happen with out your support. We cannot change the deaths and disabilities numbers that happen in pregnancy, birth and recovery- if the birthworker and ADVOCATE CANNOT take care of their own financial needs. How else am I, a very low income birthworker of color, supposed to help, care and provide doula care and support to my community if I dont have your financial security, backing and contributions? How? It's been 8 yrs since I started in this path. Eight years lovies, and I'm still reminded on a daily basis that my skills, and experience is only worth something when I work for little or nothing at all. This comes from allies, from people who are supposed to help build communities. In 8 yrs, I've served and cared for others with little to no financial contributions from those I serve.
