IM FLAG FOOTBALL || 

For my last year of college, I REALLY REALLY wanted to play on an IM sports team. So I asked this other team (with people I knew better) if I can play on their team. Surprisingly, they didn’t let me. It was a lot of confusing responses of “we found enough girls” or someone saying I could take their spot instead, and no one really saying yes. 

I hate hate admitting this, (because normally I justify being hurt by other people) but I was hurt. Although I brushed it off with a “its okay” and a laugh, I was a little bummed that I wouldn’t be able to play on an IM team before I graduate and also a hurt from what I perceived as a rejection. (I’m not bitter at them and I don’t blame them)

But then someone on the team I did end up joining asked me if I still wanted to play flag football & I ended up on a team with people I didn’t know at all. 

I’m really thankful for this team that accepted me even though I knew less than 25% of the people on this team. I’m really thankful that God gave me this opportunity to get to know different people and even step out of my comfort zone. I’m thankful (even though we lost both of the games I played) that I was able to play with people who care about building each other up and encouraging each other more than they care about winning. 

They probably won’t know this ever but I’m thankful
