All devices I've acquired post 2019 have had their systems religiously updated the minute there is an update available and my new Macbook Air will be no exception.
#I say as I update it for the 3rd time in the last 3 weeks I've used it which is probably more than the times I updated my last Mac in 5years#I kept hitting “remind me later” until the system eventually started lagging & I had no memory left to update the system even#I will not let devices I've researched and purchased to lag and die out on me anymore. This has held true since I bought my iPad in 2019#to my iPhone 13 in December 2021 to my new macbook now. Updates (no matter how sucky some of them might be) are imperative to your-#devices running properly. The battery/speed/airdrop/features/apps stop being supported & not updating is not worth the hassle#let your devices do their thing y'all!! friendly reminder to update them#electronics#personal

ByYuliah Alma. July 20, 2023
CONTENT NOTICE: This article contains disturbing details regarding the sexual abuse and sexualization of very young children. Reader discretion is appreciated.
A male politician credited with being the first openly transgender representative elected in the United States has now been charged with one count of the sexual exploitation of children, adding to the child pornography charges he had been handed last month.
Stacie Marie Laughton, born Barry Charles Laughton Jr., was described as a “woman” in a press release issued by the US Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.
39-year-old Laughton was formerly a Democratic representative in New Hampshire, first elected to the legislature in 2012. He became known as the first openly transgender individual to hold public office in the United States, but withdrew before taking the role when it was revealed that he had served four months in prison in 2008 on a felony conviction for identity and credit card fraud and falsifying physical evidence.
A special election was scheduled a few weeks later, and Laughton signed up to run again. But officials barred him from holding public office as, according to state law, he had not completed his sentence.
After the sentence related to the 2008 conviction was exhausted, Laughton was allowed to run for office again in 2019. He was elected selectman in 2011, 2019, and 2021. He was also elected state representative in 2020.
Laughton won his most recent election in November of 2022, but he resigned less than one month after securing the seat following scrutiny for yet another criminal conviction. It was learned that just two months prior to his election, he had been charged with violating a stalking order that had been from an unidentified woman.
Laughton’s most recent criminal charge involves his former partner, Lindsay Groves, 38. Groves is alleged to have used her job in a daycare to take photos of the children’s genitals in a private restroom before sending the abuse material to Laughton.
Groves had been employed at Creative Minds Early Learning Center in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts since 2017 when she was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of children and distribution of child sexual abuse material along with Laughton.
Since the horrifying revelations of the abuse have come to light, the mother of a young boy who had been enrolled at the daycare has filed a civil lawsuit against Creative Minds.
According to the Boston Herald, the complaint, which was filed Monday with Middlesex Superior Court, the plaintiffs argue that the child victim “was caused to suffer, and will continue to suffer, severe and significant physical and emotional injuries; embarrassment, and emotional distress” as a direct result of the daycare’s “negligence and carelessness as well as the invasion of his privacy…”
The lawsuit has also revealed that the daycare was reportedly informed years ago that Groves had been inappropriate with one of the children, and had been warned yet again last year, but took no action.
Groves revealed to investigators that she would direct the victims to pull their shirts towards their heads so “their vision would be obscured” while their pants were down at their ankles. While their vision was obscured, she used her iPhone to capture images of their genitalia. She would then send these photos to Laughton.
The photos were taken during bathroom breaks or routine diaper changes before the children took naps.
The most recent court filings reveal that several disturbing text conversations regarding the victimized children took place between Laughton and Groves from May to June of this year.
On June 13, just days before their initial arrest, Groves sent Laughton a photo of a three-year-old boy with his genitals exposed and a second photo of a three-year-old girl with her genitals exposed.
Groves said, “I took these for you today so I’m horny.”
Laughton responded, “I like that I would like to see more of the pussy but I like that it[’s] fucking hot,” and asked, “Is that one of the girls we get to play with[?]”
Groves boasted neither of the child victims “gave her an issue.”
Laughton continued: “That girl looks sweet … Do you think she would like sucking me and me rubbing my dick on her?” To which Groves responded, “Yeah.”
Laughton added, “It’s just a bummer she wont let me put my dick inside of her,” and Groves answered, “She’s not even 3 yet.”
The next morning, Laughton wrote to Groves in a lengthy, nervous message: “And I’m sorry I talk so much but the other thing I think about is do you think God is OK with us being bad girls[?]”
He continued, “…[some people] say having sex with kids is a bad thing and God never addresses sex with children in the Bible and God never really condemns say different sexual lifestyles but what do you think? Do you think we still have a place in heaven? Do you think God would still be OK with me being a minister[?]”
As previously revealed by Reduxx, Laughton became an ordained Minister and delivered his first sermon on YouTube earlier this year. According to GetOrdained, Laughton affiliated himself with Buddhism, Methodism, New Age, Oneness Pentecostalism, Pentecostalism, Protestantism, Rastafarianism, Spiritualism, Tibetan Buddhism, Unitarian Universalism, and the Universal Life Church.
youtube
Groves replied to Laughton’s concerns about his spirituality, writing: “Yes, God is ok with it and we will still go to heaven and he thinks you be a great minister.”
Later that same day, Groves sent Laughton another photo of another three-year-old boy.
Laughton responded, “…I mean yes that picture was hot of that little boy but you probably have gotten the picture by now that I prefer a little girls, but he is cute. I’d like to see you put your hand around his penis.”
Homeland Security Agents have confirmed with the children’s parents that the children victimized in the photographs were all only three years old.
On June 15, another text message exchange included Laughton instructing Groves on how to take more photos of the children.
“If you take one or 2 [pictures] today can you hold the dick or put your finger in the girl,” he asked. “Do you think you can do any kissing their dick or kiss the pussy or someplace[?]”
Groves answered: “I’ll do my best.”
The US Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts announced that Laughton will be formally charged in the John Joseph Moakley federal courthouse in Boston, but no appearance date has yet been set. Laughton was referred to with “she/her” pronouns by the Attorney’s Office.
Groves is also being held in custody with no set date for her next court appearance.
Sentences for sexual exploitation of children are a minimum of 15 years and maximum of 30 years in prison. Upon release, a minimum of five years supervision is required but a maximum of a lifetime supervision is possible. Fines go up to $250,000.
Multiple media outlets reporting on Laughton’s case have referred to him as a “woman,” or by using feminine pronouns to describe him.

How Apple could open its App Store without really opening its App Store
Last week, Mark Gurman published a blockbuster story in Bloomberg, revealing Apple’s plan to allow third-party Ios App Stores to comply with the EU’s Digital Markets Act. Apple didn’t confirm it, but I believe it. Gurman’s sourcing was impeccable:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-12-13/will-apple-allow-users-to-install-third-party-app-stores-sideload-in-europe
This is a huge deal. While Apple’s “curated” approach to software delivers benefits to users, those benefits are unreliable. As I explain in a new post for EFF’s Deeplinks blog, Apple only fights for its users when doing so is good for its shareholders. But when something is good for Apple shareholders and bad for its customers, the shareholders win, every time:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2022/12/heres-how-apple-could-open-its-app-store-without-really-opening-its-app-store
To see how this works, just consider Apple’s record in China. First, Apple removed all working VPN apps from its Chinese App Store, to facilitate state spying on its Chinese customers:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-apple-vpn/apple-says-it-is-removing-vpn-services-from-china-app-store-idUSKBN1AE0BQ
Then Apple backdoored its Chinese cloud servers, to further facilitate state surveillance of Chinese Iphone owners:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/17/technology/apple-china-censorship-data.html
Then, just last month, Apple neutered Airdrop’s P2P file-sharing in order to help the Chinese state in its campaign to stamp out protests:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/nov/11/apple-limits-iphone-filesharing-feature-used-by-protesters-in-china
Apple claims that its App Store is a fortress that protects its users against external threats. But the Iphone is designed to block its owners from choosing rival app stores, which means that when Apple betrays its customers, the fortress walls become prison walls. Governments know this, and they rely on it when they demand that Apple compromise its customers to totalitarian surveillance:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/11/foreseeable-consequences/#airdropped
Now, there’s an interesting contrast here. When the DFBI demanded that Apple backdoor its devices to aid in the prosecution of the San Bernardino shooters, Apple took its customers’ side, bravely refusing to compromise its devices:
https://www.eff.org/cases/apple-challenges-fbi-all-writs-act-order
That was the right call to make. Does it mean that Apple doesn’t value privacy for its Chinese customers’ privacy as much as it values it for American customers? Does it mean that Apple respects the CCP more than it respects the FBI?
Not at all. It just means that China was able to threaten Apple’s shareholders in ways that the DoJ couldn’t. Standing up to the Chinese government would threaten Apple’s access to 350 million middle-class Chinese potential customers, and an equal number of Chinese low-waged workers who could be tapped to manufacture Apple devices under brutal labor conditions at rock-bottom prices.
Standing up to the FBI didn’t threaten Apple’s shareholders the way that standing up to the CCP would, so Apple stood up for its American users and sold out its Chinese users.
But that doesn’t mean that US Apple customers are safe. In the US, Apple defends its customers from rival commercial threats, but actively prevents those customers from defending themselves against Apple’s own commercial threats.
Famously, Apple took its customers side over Facebook’s, adding an amazing, best-in-class, one-click opt-out to tracking, which is costing Facebook $10 billion per year. You love to see it:
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/02/facebook-says-apple-ios-privacy-change-will-cost-10-billion-this-year.html
On the other hand…Apple secretly continued to its customers’ clicks, taps, gestures, apps and keystrokes, even after those customers explicitly opted out of tracking, and used that data to build nonconsensual dossiers on every Ios owner for use in its own ad-targeting business:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/14/luxury-surveillance/#liar-liar
Apple defended its customers against Facebook’s predation, but not its own. When Apple’s shareholder interests are on the line, Apple’s App Store becomes a prison, not a fortress: because Apple controls which software you can install, it can (and does) block you from installing apps that extend its block on commercial surveillance to Apple itself.
Then there’s the app tax. Apple charges app makers a 30% commission on all their sales, which means that certain businesses literally can’t exist. Take audiobooks: audiobook sellers have 20% gross margins on their wares. If they sell their audiobooks through apps and pay a 30% vig to Apple, they lose money on every sale. Thus, the only Ios app that will sell you an audiobook is Apple’s own Apple Books.
Apple Books requires authors and publishers to wrap their books in Apple’s DRM, and the DMCA makes it a felony to supply your own readers with a tool to convert the books you published to a rival’s format. That means that readers have to surrender every book they’ve bought on Apple Books if you switch platforms and ask them to follow you. It’s not just social media that turns creators into digital sharecroppers.
It’s not any better when it comes to the businesses that can eke out an existence under the app tax’s yoke. These businesses pass their extra costs on to Apple’s customers, who ultimately bear the app tax burden. Because every app maker has to pay the app tax, they all tacitly collude to hike their prices. And because mobile is a duopoly, the app tax is also buried in every Android app, because Google has exactly the same app tax as Apple (Google will also be forced to remove barriers to third-party app stores under the DMA).
All this to say that it is a terrible error to impute morals or values to giant corporations. Apple and Google are both immortal colony organisms that view human beings as inconvenient gut flora. They are remorseless paperclip-maximizing artificial life forms. They are, in other words, limited liability corporations.
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/paperclip-maximizer
“If you’re not paying for the product, you’re the product” sounds good, but it’s absolutely wrong. You can’t bribe a paperclip-maximizing colony organism into treating you with dignity by spending money with it. Companies’ treatment of you depends on what they can get away with — not their “personalities.” Apple doesn’t respect privacy — it thinks it can make more paperclips by giving some of its customers some privacy. As soon as Apple finds a way to make more paperclips by spying on those you (say, by starting its own internal adtech business), it will spy on you, and the $1000 you spent on your Iphone will not save you.
Once you understand that corporate conduct is a matter of power, not personality, then you understand that the way to prevent companies from harming you is to meet their power with countervailing power. This is why tech worker unions matter: organized labor has historically been the most important check on corporate power, which is why tech companies are so vicious in the face of union drives:
https://www.epi.org/publication/unions-decline-inequality-rises/
Beyond labor, two other forces can discipline corporate conduct: regulation and competition. The biggest threat to a business’s customers is that business’s own shareholders. A company might defend its customers against a rival, but they will never defend its customers against its own shareholders.
Regulation and competition both impose costs on shareholder who abuse their customers: regulation can punish bad conduct with fines that come out of shareholder profits, and competition can create a race to the top as businesses seek to poach each others’ customers by offering them progressively better deals.
Which brings me back to the DMA, the EU’s pending regulation forcing Apple to open its app store, and Apple’s leaked plans to comply with the regulation. This is (potentially) great news, because rival app stores can offer Apple customers an escape hatch from mandatory surveillance and price-gouging.
But the devil is in the details. There are so many ways that Apple can use malicious compliance to appear to offer a competitive app marketplace without actually doing so. In my article for EFF, I offer a checklist of fuckieries to watch for in Apple’s plans:
• Forcing software authors in Apple’s Developer Program. Not only does this force developers to pay Apple for the privilege of selling to Iphone owners, but it also forces them to sign onto a Bible-thick EULA that places all kinds of arbitrary limits on their software. It’s not enough for Apple to open up to rival app stores — it also must not sabotage rivals who produce competing SDKs for Ios.
• Forcing App Store criteria on rival app stores. Apple mustn’t be permitted to turn legitimate vetting for security or privacy risks into editorial control over which apps Ios users are allowed to use. Apple may not want to carry games that highlight labor conditions in high-tech manufacturing sweatshops:
https://venturebeat.com/games/apple-drops-uncomfortable-sweatshop-hd-game-from-app-store/
And it may object to apps that track US drone killings of civilians abroad:
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2012/aug/30/apple-blocks-us-drone-strike-app
But those arbitrary editorial conditions shouldn’t be imposed on rival app stores.
• Taxing rival app stores for “security vetting.” Apple is not the only entity qualified to assess the security of apps:
https://www.schneier.com/essays/archives/2022/01/letter-to-the-us-senate-judiciary-committee-on-app-stores.html
and it’s just as capable as its rivals of making grave errors:
https://www.infosecurity-magazine.com/news/apple-fixes-exploited-iphone-zero/
It’s fine to say that app stores must submit to third-party security certification, but they should be free to choose Apple out of a field of qualified privacy certifiers.
• Requiring third-party app stores to process payments with Apple. The app tax should be disciplined by competition. Allowing Apple to extract 30% from transactions in its rivals’ app stores would defeat the whole purpose of the DMA.
• Arbitrarily revoking third party app stores. It’s foreseeable that some third-party app stores would be so incompetent or malicious that Apple could revoke their ability to operate on Ios devices. However, if Apple were to pretextually shut down third-party app stores, it could sour Iphone owners off the whole prospect of getting apps elsewhere.
Apple must not be permitted to use its power to shut down app stores in an anti-competitive way, but distinguishing pretextual shutdowns from bona fide ones is a time-consuming, fact-intensive process that could leave customers in limbo for years.
One way to manage this is for regulators to dangle massive fines for pretextual shutdowns. In addition to this, Apple must make some provision to continue its customers’ access to the apps, media and data from the app stores it shuts down.
All of this points to the role that regulators pay, even (especially) when it comes to disciplining companies through competition. The DMA is overseen by the EU Commission, which has the power to investigate, verify and approve (or reject) the standards that Apple sets for privacy, security, and app stores themselves. The Commission should anticipate and fund the regulators needed to manage these tasks quickly, thoroughly and efficiently.
Finally, Europeans shouldn’t have all the fun. If Apple can do this for Europeans, it can do it for every Apple device owner. If you bought an Ios device, it’s yours, not Apple’s, and you should have the right to technological self determination that Europeans get when it comes to deciding which software it runs.

[Phone, Case & Earphone]
Jieun owns an iPhone 13 in pink, her favorite color. She owns headphones which were gifted to her by Chan, with cute heart symbols on them. Her Airpods are in a white shiny case with a pink flower. Her phone case is clear, and she has two polaroids from her group in it. One from the beach where they filmed ‘Mixtape: Time Out’ and another one from a concert.
🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪
{Icons / Layout}
Her phone layout is cute but simple. Her favorite color is also represented in her icons and her interest in fairy core is also found. She did this in a livestream with the help and opinion of Stays.
⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸⚪🌸
[Lock- & Home screen]
Her lock screen is a picture of two hands that are touching but not really holding each other. Stays have first seen this in late 2021 and have started to speculate whose hand it could be. It appears as if both hands are female, which only fuels the rumors and speculations. Jieun has not made a statement to these rumors. Her home screen is a painting of Hyunjin that matches her icons and her vibe.

This is the same man who clung to his iPhone 6S for years. He’s not upgrading his MacBook until it’s broken. Like c’mon Chris you did two AppleTV+ projects, I’m sure you could get one for free.
LOL, he probably did get one for free and gave it to Josh for work usage. 😂
But, honestly, I'm the same way. I kept my 6s until I absolutely had to get a new one in 2021 because of the fact that they were retiring the 3G system. But then I just got an 11Pro instead of the then brand new 13Pro. I'm happy with my slightly older tech. I've never been an "early adopter" type. [Although, to be honest, I got the 11 because my carrier offered a huge price break to clear out inventory space for the 13 orders. Sometimes it really pays to not be picky.]

Okay, so it has been seen often that Chris/his team post old pics that he has stored in his phone. And the quality of this pic is not the quality of an IPhone 13 pro(the phone he currently has) and it’s more similar to the quality of his old Iphone 6. Also this pic is a screenshot. It’s very likely these might be Justin’s feet/shoes, but not from this recent VT trip. I think it’s from the VT trip they took in 2021/2022. And he has had these pics chilling in his phone, his team- Meg or Josh, ask for a Dodger pic, and he screenshots(because he doesn’t know how to work his phone) and sends this one.
I'm not sure about the quality thing, however, the picture definitely could be older; we have no way of knowing when it was taken. Even if it was from this year, we know they were in Vermont, so this is not surprising at all. But this picture could've been taken in 2021. We don't know for sure.
People say it was intentional; others say it wasn't. Either way, it won't change the situation or my mind. I still think it's PR. They were sent home after this on a commercial flight, and we haven't seen them in his orbit. If this was intentional, than it's part of the PR plan or whatever; however, maybe it's far-fetched to say his team knew people would analyze the shit out of the picture, but considering what's been going on in the past year, they definitely could've expected it. For me, it feels like he and his team always try to find a loophole so they don't have to be seen with them. Was he stupid to get into this? Yes. But saying he enjoys this situation or being around her, I think, is a far-fetched statement.

Hello! 2 and 13 for the ask game
2. fav card from least fav set
unrelated to the card but this is a haruka event not an emu event
13. how did i get into the game
it's complicated. it released about a month after i got into love live so i remember seeing it trend and stuff bc by then my twt account was so catered to idol shit. i kinda forgot about it after that until i started playing bandori in july 2021. i was looking for other rhythm games to play since i liked sif so much and was enjoying bandori, so i watched some videos and project sekai came up in one. i thought it looked cool so i checked the app store and it wasn't listed. i searched project sekai on youtube anyway to see what was going on, came across this video, discovered it was a vocaloid game and then was like "oh nvm then idc about vocaloid", and a couple weeks later downloaded d4dj because they mentioned it in that video and i got interested.
fast forward to november i'm not very good at d4dj and getting kinda tired of it. i get a video on my feed of someone playing the ensekai demo and i watched it bc idk maybe me wanting to play tap tap games overrules my dislike of vocaloid. thought it looked alright had a look to see if i could prereg and it wasn't compatible with my android phone so i gave up again. but the universe is stubborn and the sonic twitter account posted about there being a free sonic costume and i was like who cares i want the sonic costume and turns out the game works on a spare iphone i had lying about. it took me about 2 months to actually get invested in the game after that but yeah in short project sekai got me into d4dj which got me into project sekai and also there was a sonic costume.

I'm sorry that happened to you too. It's the worst feeling ever. Especially when it's with someone close to you. My parents died from Covid in 2021. It's only my brother and I left. I found out from a friend of mine that the affair had been going on ever since. I've never felt so disgusted and extremely stupid for not seeing it sooner. She’s engaged by the way and her fiancé found out. I fell asleep for almost 16 hours after the post, only to wake up to my iPhone asking me if my period had started yet! I freaked the fuck out and ran 8 blocks to the drug store, only to run into my ex and his best friend buying booze and condoms. Yup, booze and condoms while I'm trying to hide the four packs of pregnancy tests behind my back, looking like a train wreck with blotchy eyes, ready to puke face, wearing my dad's sweater and unflattering jogging pants. I couldn't run into him when I was looking great no because that would be too easy. The good news = I'm not pregnant, and I yelled really loud across the store that the condoms my ex was buying were two sizes too big because I'm a petty bitch like that and I knew it would piss him off. Bad news = I'll be moving back to my parents house and I haven't been there since 2021. Sorry to bug you with this I just need to vent to people who don't know me. I love everything you write, so anything with Hinny or their kids would be great. - MVP of crappy week club
this one is for you anon <3 if you ever need to rant my ask box is always open!

Definitely plausible.

My AirPods Max Don't Fucking Work
This is a rant that has been basically bubbling up ever since I got a brand-spanking new pair of AirPods Max for Christmas back in 2021, I wanna say. They were great, I enjoyed the slightly better quality and the over the ear feeling compared to my Bose Headphones which had served me well, and I knew about all of the cool features like automatically pausing when you take off the headphones and the noise-cancelling and transparency modes, but I soon ran into constant, constant problems.
You pause an audio source? Fuck it, not even the one you're primarily listening to, if you accidentally turn on a YouTube video, even if it's muted, even if it was never playing sound, and pause it? Disconnect! You let your iPhone bring you to another song on Soundcloud or iTunes? Disconnect! God forbid you do anything, these are the most fickle things in the world and I have to constantly reconnect, but that isn't why I'm making this post.
On today, the eleventh anniversary of the Hermitcraft SMP, April 13, 2023, my headphones just fully stopped functioning. They won't connect, I can barely reset them, they're clearly on and have a full battery but even if I can connect them, they refuse to send any sound to me at all. And the worst part is, this is the third time it has happened to me now. On two occasions separate from this, I go to bed, I left them in the case, I do nothing to them, and the next morning they're completely unresponsive and uncooperative. And I have no extra headphones here because I'm at my mom's, so now I'm stuck with a broken, unresponsive pair of headphones, and if I want them fixed, I have to send them out to Apple for a week to get back a new pair that will start suffering the same problems from the second paragraph in two weeks' time. The only reason I haven't ditched these things entirely and just went back to my Bose is that my parents are pressuring me to keep them because they were expensive, but all of the money and fancy tricks in the world mean jack if they just. Don't. Work.
The AirPods Max are like an incredibly expensive can of soda- they are best out of the box on the first use, and then slowly but surely they will just get worse and worse.
#apple#airpods max#Is this just a me problem or are these actually trash at longterm functionality?#Maybe they'll miraculously stop being pieces of shit in four hours or by tomorrow but I'm not holding my fucking breath at this point
