🔪 ⇢ what’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

God, I KNOW I've researched a lot of niche topics but nothing's coming up to me right now for "weirdest" 😅

Recently I've been trying to write a oneshot for an AU of my OCs as aquatic bird-themed knights in a fantasy setting based on pre-/early colonial Philippines, so a lot of my research has been various types of aquatic birds. They're actually pretty interesting! Like, did you know that there's a duck that is basically a cuckoo in terms of breeding, meaning that they lay their eggs in other ducks' nests? Anyway my OC Nathan is now a black-headed duck knight in this AU so that I could recreate his parental issues HAHA

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction? 

I've always been a writer at heart, though primarily for my OCs, since I was really young, like 10 years old or so. Prior to that age, I used to daydream about myself interacting and going on adventures with my favorite fandom characters like Yugi Mutou from Yu-Gi-Oh, Red from Pokémon Adventures, and Kazemaru Ichirouta from Inazuma Eleven. I didn't even read fanfic at that age but I had made all sorts of trope-filled scenarios like bodyswap and genderswap, all that jazz, so maybe I was just destined for fanfic LMAO

With all that background, it's honestly surprising that I didn't start writing fanfiction until I was like, 15 or 16? Though, my aunt had banned me from going on ffnet, so I had refrained from reading fanfic until I discovered AO3, and it took a bit longer for me to come out with an AU that I wanted to read but nobody had made yet.

I've always been more of an OC person so nowadays my fanfic tends to be for OC-based fic like what I write for the Nuzlocke forum, but I do want to write and publish some stuff for this really niche ship I've got for a different fandom, so I wouldn't say I'm opposed to writing more canon character-based fic. We'll see, haha.
