#i've got no god i can pray to‚ so i'm doing the closest equivalent by hoping really hard while having very little energy to keep on doing so

I really want to make this post, right here, right now, so here it is. I really, really hope things'll work out for me, just this once. For context, earlier this year, my phone was subjected to an accidental factory reset. In case you're wondering how one could possibly do something that dire on accident, all you need is a faulty battery which will make it so that the process is one misclick away, no password confirmations, no double "yes" buttons or anything. I've been somewhere midway in the process of backing things up at that point in time, but unfortunately my writing was among the things I didn't grab before it all went to hell. Now, there's a chance that the data *could* be retrieved, albeit under lock and key, and made more future-proof (aka transferred onto an actual hard drive instead of being trapped in a decaying tomb that is the phone's native TLC NAND SSD chip). There's also a chance that the kind folks at the data recovery and extraction company will choose to say "no". The technology to pull unallocated files from my specific phone model has been around since 2020. There are a million things that could go wrong. There are just as many things that could go right. If they manage to pull that data from the phone, I just have to wait until the keys to access that data become reverse-engineerable, which, judging by the current developments in the relevant field, we might be looking at about a ten-year-long wait. I've been waiting for my life to get better for as long as I've had a consciousness, so that part, while hard, is manageable. Best case scenario, the only victim of my folly will be the first note in which I am cussing out 343 Guilty Spark like there's no tomorrow. While sad because, hey, historical relic, I can live with that. But worst case scenario, the entire goddamn thing is just gone, and I'll never fully recover. I've got a steady lifeline to keep me on this side of things, albeit I'm more uncertain about my own stability and faith in that situation, but I digress. None of this will have to be something I have to worry about if... things work out well for me, just this once. This was a huge disaster in a chain of huge disasters, which made me feel ways that are best left off the nigh-permanent shelves of tumblr dot com, but... this one's at least got a chance of being reversible. A hollow victory, which does not nullify the shame of the original mistake, but a victory still, because that's one less thing on a long list of things I have to grieve, and, hey. Wouldn't it be fun if, ten years down the line, you found me with the exact same scripts I wrote back in 2022-2023, plus a whole bunch of other stuff I made in the meantime between now and then? Maybe a few 3D models, perhaps? Some code, animated storyboards? All for a game I will never be able to make money off of due to legal issues, haha, but one that will undoubtedly have more of my heart and soul in it than anything else my hands have touched in my entire life? Wouldn't it be fun? Wouldn't it be fun if it all worked out?

Thank you! Uh... Oh gosh I'm nervous, I don't know where to begin ☺

Uh... Well I've got a lot of lore behind the universe and the characters personalities/names. However to dig that deep would probably require a whole new ask (or just submitting one giant submission) I'd I'm doing my math correctly. So I won't go too much into the lore or personalities, I'll just give the TL;DR of it (but I'll share more if you want ^^)

Ok so. In this world, the bugs we see are actually more... Fairy like? Like us humans see the bugs, but in their world they have a more fairy/humanoid appearance (still debating if the humans can see the fairy appearances as well). To the bugs, humans are like... Not necessarily God's to worship, but great deities who could decide your fate in a second (slamming a shoe on them, taking them back outside when they needed to get comfy, etc) and they noticed that humans see other bugs differently, so they kinda have a... This is going to sound weird, but lifestyle/religion based off of what the humans think of your bug type? And also whether or not you harm others to survive? (For example, even Lady bugs though popular among the humans kill aphids. Spiders are seen as the hellspawn though since both humans and bugs hate them)

Again, there is SO MUCH more to this (praying mantis', the insect world's equivalent of... Cult leaders and religious heads were the ones that spread the belief of 'the more harm you do the more sinful you are' (some are so delusional to try to go vegan, others chose to keep their carnivorous diet to 'purge the sinners' of the bug world... yeah)). I know this looks like a jumbled mess, and I wish i could explain EVERYTHING in one ask, but I better move onto the plot/characters.

Anyways, because of the insects views, it is believed that the butterflies are actually the closest things to angels among the community, since the humans love them so much, they help the environment, AND they don't harm others (bees get some shade for their stinger, but they are still appreciated in the bug world) and that is how our main character starts out.

Persephone is a butterfly (I know it probably sounds weird to name the main character after a goddess, so I'm thinking of a different name) from her own colony of butterflies, naive and sheltered with how they live, though still has a good and playful heart and a sense of wanderlust. During a migration, she gets blown off course and finds herself in a very different part of the world with a broken wing and has to find someone who can help her wings and find her way back home. Along the way, she meets the yanderes other characters. Sunny the honey bee (the type of yandere no one would expect to be one until it was too late.), Scorn the wasp (the tsundere but would snap any threats neck yandere), Rasmus/Rasputin (haven't picked which name) the wandering praying mantis oracle (cult yandere), and Cove the spider (I'm not sure if I want them to be the cruelest of all of them (next to Rasputin/mus), or the never judge a book by its cover yandere).

(Ngl I'm thinking of maybe making Sunny and Scorn long term rivals, and Persephone winds up meeting them in the middle of a argument/fight)

Does Persephone ever make it back to her colony? I'm not sure. But she will definitely have plenty of stories to tell if/when she makes it back (this kinda sounds like it's one of those multiple ending stories)

Ok so... That's the short version of it all ☺ I have alot more lore/story and character exploring then I showed here though, and even the relationships Persephone develops with the others. But I already made this WAY too long. I've wanted to write this out, but it's been... Years in all honesty, so I doubt I'm ever going to get it written. But what do you think? If you have any questions I'd love to answer!

I think this idea is very interesting! I love the idea that humans are seen as deity’s and possibly seen as something to worship out of fear rather than love (or Vice versa! ) 

Persephone is a good name, but really any name can be a god name if you really think about it, so don’t beat yourself up if you think every character has to have some badass name! Sometimes it’s more about the actions than the name association you know?

I really hope she has deep and meaningful experiences along with utterly hilarious and amusing ones. As well as angst because I mean, I’m a masochist with that sometimes, but that’s me lol

Rreeaaallllyyy loving the vibe you gave Sunny, the unexpected yandere trope is one of my most favorites, major weakness right there! For the spider I would make it the unexpected super kind yandere who’s skittish and naive like Persephone and when they get a bond and relationship going the spider begins to become more obsessive or protective (just an idea! You do what you want bean! )
