ANIMATION RAMBLINGS
I am so hyped for animation right now. Please let me share with you my excitement (as well as some links)!
FIRST: Super happy for the writer's guild on their win this month. I'm always happy to see the entertainment peeps standing up for themselves. This is a huge deal. There's been some talk of anime production workers possibly taking action as well, but there hasn't been any concrete news on that.
SECOND: What's come recently? Well, Fiona and Cake was great! I very nearly cried at several points lol, it was a very satisfying ending. And Worthikids (click to see their Youtube!) recently finished off their second season of Bigtop Burger: A funny little series of short videos about clowns making burgers in a food truck. It's wonderful and there's been a fair bit of lore that's been revealed from this season. Can't wait for what's to come in season 3 (which has pretty much been confirmed at this point)!
THIRD: What's to come? The new Scott Pilgrim anime series is coming soon! Just a little over a month until it premiers!! The little bit of teasers we've gotten so far make it look promising, and considering a lot of OGs from previous Scott Pilgrim media came back to work on it, I think it's safe to assume we'll enjoy what we see (despite Netflix being Netflix). There's also the Among Us series in development with the creator of Infinity Train Owen Dennis! It will probably be another year or so before we get more information on that, but it's a fun thing to look forward to.
What I'm really looking forward to are several independent projects coming up. More people are realizing that they can still tell the stories they want without corporate overlords breathing over their necks 24/7. Of course, this doesn't come without its hardships. Their main sources of income are coming mostly from crowdfunding and selling merch, and production may be slower (honestly for the best, stop the crunch culture). But to many of them, it's worth doing.
First off, Lackadaisy- What's that, you ask? It's about mobster cats in the Prohobition Era. It's got both whimsy and grit, both light humor and darker, more somber themes. And the art is so fun! It started off as a comic- check out their site! They released an animated pilot earlier this year! And just recently they got their project completely crowdfunded- several times more than what they were aiming for! The whole first season is funded and they're getting to work on production!
Then there's this fun guide series by one of my favorite stop motion animators Cranbersher! His work is amazing, he's done plenty of stuff for Youtubers including Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, and he even got to animate in Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio!!! He's been working on his series "Cranbersher's Guide to Stop Motion" for many years now, and he has been working diligently on the finale. Seriously, I recommend giving Cranbersher's Guide a watch. And do NOT skip any episodes! I promise you it's worth it, you'll learn a lot about animation. :)
Third, Jellybox Studio!! A new independent studio formed by Gene Goldstein, the mind behind Planet Panic and frontman for punk-rock band Qbomb! His animation is amazing, and with a whole team behind him, they're planning a 40-episode miniseries called NOXP! Gene has already released a few episodes on their socials.
And last, at least for now, there's Monkey Wrench by Zeurel! Essentially it's about two space bounty hunters trying to start fresh and not to get killed. It's definitely more on the mature side but the first episode is a pretty fun adventure on its own! (Its been a while since I've seen it, oof) The second episode came out several months ago and the series is also still in development, I'm excited to see what's in store!
Honestly there's a lot going on with animation lately. Times are changing, and I kind of hope we see more animators and crews turn to other options to bring their stories to people. Get excited!
Bonus: There have been a dozen reanimation projects over the last few years. They really popped off after the Game Grumps, Kirby, and Dover Boys projects got more attention. One of them, Gravity Falls Reanimated (which seeks to reanimate the first episode of Gravity Falls with contributions from dozens of different animators) is nearly complete after several years! The final product will be released under Alchemy Paint Studios. It's been a long time coming, but it's almost here!

thank you for all the support on my art and writing this year, everyone! here's my art summary for 2023!!! 🥳💕 happy new year!!!!!
i've rambled a bit about this year under the cut.
this was the best year ever for me on a personal level, even though my art didn't change very much. i got into south park thanks to my wonderful girlfriend that i started dating this year, and it transformed my art and writing. here's a list of some things i made this year!
i made one animatic!
the toh grimoire zine hasn't been completed yet due to some complications with paypal so i haven't been able to share my fic for it yet, but i'm so excited for it to come out!!
the amphibia tribute zine that i participated in last year came out and matt braly retweeted it, which was super awesome! here's my drawing for it!
the our duet: raeda fanzine came out! it was so thrilling to receive my first physical zine with my own writing in it. i also made merch for the first time because i contributed art for the polaroid keychain charm a few people collaborated on. avi roque also got a copy of the zine. i'm really proud of myself for this zine!!! you can see my pieces for it here.
i participated in the oops! all autistic! zine!!! you can find the amphibia fic i wrote for it here!
i'm participating in the k2 fanzine! it won't be released until 2024, but i wrote two fics for it and did a little bonus drawing for it that you might see in my art summary 👀
i'm the beta reader mod for the second huntlow zine, golden garden! i also wrote a fic for it. i'm really excited for everyone to see the work we've been putting into this project!!! i hold it so close to my heart.
besides zine stuff, i wrote fics for the huntlow hearts exchange and tweek week 2023!
since i shared my ao3 statistics last year, here are the updated ones from 2023 and overall.
these numbers aren't totally accurate because there are things i wrote this year that i haven't posted yet (shoutout to my big multichapter south park fic wip...) and things that i never finished, but they're interesting to look at anyways. although less people read my south park stuff than my toh stuff, i'm having so much fun with this show and i intend to write a ton more for it. south park gives me so much creative inspiration and i'm really glad that i got into it. thank you so much to everyone who's supported me through this transition period of my art and writing. ❤
i also wrote some goals for 2024 in my art summary post from last year. i didn't accomplish some of them, but i'm proud of myself for the stuff i did achieve. here are a few more resolutions for 2024:
write more multichapter stuff
write for a wider variety of fandoms
make at least one south park animatic
get more relaxed about my art style and stop being such a perfectionist. i want my art to get messier and cartoonier. i'm hoping to change my art style a lot, and you might be able to notice that in some of my recent drawings.
do at least one piece of colored digital art a month (i have to list this as a resolution every year so i actually do it...)
do more large and detailed pieces
experiment more with procreate (i've finally figured out how to use it, but i want to make use of more of its features and brushes)
write more consistently...i kept going weeks without writing at all in 2023 and it sucked so much. i want to do it at least a little bit every week.
participate more in the south park fandom. i'd love to join in on more fandom events like the k2 zine and tweek week.
thank you so much to everyone for supporting me again this year!!! i'm excited to see where 2024 goes!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

wait wait i'm NOT ?? THE ONLY ONE WHO'S RESISTED KPOP FOR YEARS??? ok ok first of all u sharing everyone's kpop story makes me all smiley and giddy and i wanna share mine but also i don't wanna intrude bC I'M BABY HERE OK??? BUT LIKE ??? finding ur blog only recently when i allowed myself to actually dive into kpop an stray kids and just soak it all in?? has made me all smiles and i honestly just enjoy following u so much!!!
ok but like?? yes i have REPRESSED AND RESISTED kpop so long bc i'm a rebel and i always have this underlying urge to not??? follow the hype ya know?? i think my first encounter with pop was like?? 2012?? with gangnam style?? and i hate myself for admitting it, but i was studying in australia at the time and there was a music channel i remember which had a kpop segment i think?? so it was like gangnam style and ALSO SUPER JUNION?? (thats all i can remember) and i've listened to a bit of exo on the sideline and then BTW blew up and everyone loved them around me but i was just like NOPE?? BC I COULDN'T ALLOW MYSELF TO FOLLOW THE HYPE??? and i still cringe about the whole youtube rewind 'KPOP!' segment like what was that even back then???
but then i was exposed to the felix effect on TikTok during last fall (ugh yess but i couldn't help it) and it just continued into the new year and now i'm just in the deep end with all things stray kids, going through so many of their songs and their yt videos and i just?? feel so hAPPY GIDDY EXCITED??? but i also cry thinking about everything i've missed out on like ?? moments and memories??? exclusive merch?? PHOTOCARDS ??? (like pls sign me up i wanna sell my soul fo anyone who sells extra photocards i have like none) sbvhjfd
I'M SORRY THIS GOT SO LONG BUT YESS I'm a baby stay and my blog is still in transition but I AM HERE AND I'M gushing about them every day and receiving messages from hyunjin (god he's my fave) and felix and chan on bubble always makes my day and i am just so happy to see what they've accomplished!! LIKE TODAY??? ALL HAPPY TEARS ON MY END!!! i'm literally just waiting for my upcoming internship to accept my wish to be off in july so i can see them headline in paris !!! — thank you for u and ur blog, ur a treasure to follow!!
all baby stays are welcome here I am here for more ppl loving skz always, no gatekeeping here just love and support hehe (and omg thank you im so happy following this blog makes u happy 🥹💕)
i get being resistant to follow the hype especially with music a lot of popular music is really boring and i find myself underwhelmed by stuff ppl REALLY enjoy, and also just not wanting to be a part of what everyone is screaming about is totally valid.
I love that felix did u in tho, and theres always time to catch up on old content! sites like skzflix are superrrr helpful in finding older shows and things! and im always here if ur looking for something or wanna know where anything is from <3 i love how excited and happy u seem to be about skz, i think its always refreshing to have new ppl join in, i think it helps remind ppl who have been in about how exciting discovering skz was for them, and seeing things from a new perspective is so nice!
I hope ur internship gives u the time off! skz are amazing live and i hope u get to experience it!!

life update
been taking a lot of random pictures lately, which i stopped doing years ago. that gave me something to post about here, at least, and something i can look back to.
went to the haikyu!! pop-up store at sm north. took a lot of pictures here and there. i didn't buy any merch 'cause i didn't like the quality and how it was overpriced.
update on my acne journey: i stopped taking antibiotics 'cause i already finished my prescription. i just did my lab tests so i'm gonna wait for the results before i go back to my derma. i'm actually excited about taking isotretinion 'cause i've seen the beautiful wonders it did to other people.
tried out tons of new food from cyma, egg house, bb.q chicken, and out of nowhere kitchen (disclaimer: i'm not a foodie but i like trying out new things):
cyma - it's a greek resto and we went there for a birthday celebration. for sharing, we had kalamata hummus and caesar salad. then, i ordered a solo acropolis, a cream-based penne pasta with roasted chicken and spinach. love the pasta btw. it had a creamy but light taste to it. the penne was bigger than i expected, plus it was wider, but it wasn't heavy at all. i'm sure my parents would love the food here.
egg house - saw this on tiktok when i searched for dessert shops while we were at sm north. finally got to try their souffle pancake. so what i ordered was one of their bestsellers which is the fluffy clouds. it's kinda like their signature pancake topped with whipped cream and maple syrup. surprisingly, it wasn't that sweet, and the flavors complement each other so well. for drinks, i tried their uji matcha latte (simply because uji sounds like woozi hehe). their drinks are great, too. it has a great balance to it and doesn't overpower the rest of the food. 10/10 would go back again.
bb.q chicken - there's a newly opened store at megamall so we went there to try their food. it's a korean resto and pretty much similar with 24chicken. they offer flavored chicken and side dish such as tteokbokki, kimbap, cheese sticks, japchae, etc. i tried their secret sauce, which tasted like a watered down yangnyeom with super duper extra sweetness, and japchae. i wasn't happy about the japchae 'cause it lacked the sesame oil flavor to it, which is like the heart of korean food. their chicken is okay but i won't probably eat there any time soon.
out of nowhere kitchen - i think this is a new resto at sm manila. it has a pretty chic and cool vibe to it despite being inside the mall. they offer a variety of food at an affordable price. so, i ordered beef quesadilla. apart from being too oily, it was rather good. it had light flavors, the beef was soft, and their dressing goes well with it. then, i had apple lychee iced tea for drinks, which honestly tasted like the bottled nestea apple (no exaggeration). personally, i'd like to go back there for the ambience and i'm curious how the other food would taste like.
