Picrew of Yui and my DL OC Ronaye, plus a story link

So I saw some posts on Tumblr a little while ago of Yui in various picrew styles, but I hadn't seen anyone do this one, so I decided to give it a try. She looks so innocent and precious here I swear. While I enjoy reading and writing about OCs or SI, I actually love Yui in the manga/games, she's like my spirit animal a lot of the time. She's a sweetheart and deserves more than the hand she was dealt, so it's sad she tends/tended to get a lot of hate in the DL fandom. Yui Protection Squad Assemble!

This is one of my DL OCs named Ronaye, who in my fanfiction Lacrimosa, is Yui's childhood best friend. We never got much of Yui's backstory in canon, so this story will expand upon hers, as well as Ronaye's stories. I know it's been mentioned in the games about Yui having friends before going to live with the Sakamakis, but I'm not so sure how true that statement was. But I enjoy exploring the possibilities, filling in those blanks. What if her friends were indeed looking for her? What would happen?

Pairings: Romance isn't going to be a main focus of the story, so I'm currently undecided. I'm currently unsure if I want to keep the relationship between Ronaye and Yui as merely platonic or if I should add romantic subtext. It could be argued that Ronaye's devotion to Yui and the lengths she'd go for her could be described as platonic, romantic, or both, so I wouldn't be against them as a pairing here. With that said, I've never really wrote about same sex relationships and don't identify as LGBTQ, though I'm an ally of them and want to expand my writing horizons. There might also be moments for both Ronaye and Yui with the boys as well, so if I go the shoujo ai route, both of them would be either bi or pan. What is it that the readers want?

Rating: M for later chapters considering the controversial and mature themes DL has. Warnings will be in the author's note.

Genre: Angst, Horror, Psychological, Hurt/Comfort, Drama

Summary: Ever since the disappearance of her childhood best friend Yui Komori, Ronaye continues searching for any trace of her. As time passes by, it gradually takes a toll on her already cracked psyche, as she grows more despondent. To get Yui back, she must descend to the depths of hell itself, risking both her remaining sanity and her life. But for Yui's sake, she'd do anything.

I got a question that you don't have to answer. What's all your fav ships from any fandom whether they are canon or not. And all the reasons why you like them.

i honestly wish my brain wasn’t such a frying pan of obsessions that change every other week, but off the top of my head the ships i’ve been thinking about the most lately are probably:

roy/jamie (ted lasso) has been my main ship for ages by now and it’s honestly a little unhealthy how often i think about these dumbasses. i think its mainly because both characters are just so incredibly complex, and they both have some of my all time favourite arcs. the two of them have always felt like two sides of the same coin to me. i could talk forever about roy's urge to protect his loved ones vs jamie's inherent need to feel protected (as shown in the ep. 'mom city'.) not to mention the good old grumpy + sunshine trope. there's also just the undeniable chemistry between them because brett and phil are literal platonic soulmates irl.

roy/keeley/jamie (ted lasso) is another one of my faves. a lot of it is for the same reason as stated above, but with keeley added to the mix because we can't deny that she is the center of roy and jamie's universe, whether that be romantically or platonically. she's the only person that has bothered truly getting to know both of them: and she's the only person to stand up to them and tell them they need to work on themselves. their traits all add up: when keeley feels suffocated by roy's need to be close, roy doesn't have to feel rejected and alone because jamie will literally cling to him like a koala any chance he gets.

fatin/leah (the wilds) and listen its been so long since i watched the wilds but i will never forget Them. leah singing "home is when I'm alone with you" while cradling fatins jaw. the looks they share. "why are you looking at me like that?" she asks wHILE LOOKING AT HER THE SAME WAY.

lottie/nat (yellowjackets) i am a casual shipper here but all i’m gonna say is: the bathtub scene. nat helps wash and patch up lottie. idk they’re just precious.

steve harrington/eddie munson (stranger things) is one of those 'i didn't really consider it until i saw someone else ship it' things for me personally, but listen they're just cute to imagine. its the whole jock x nerd thing, but i'm not as emotionally invested in this ship as much as i just enjoy the idea of it.

i probably have so many other ships that i should be mentioning but i think i've already talked too much. also! feel free to scream about ships to me, even if i don't know the ship i'll probably scream back

Modern Day LoZ fic idea

I wrote a ficlet for you guys to read and tell me what you think. I’d do art with it, but I can’t draw Ganondorf...

"The Hero of Time is just a fairytale." The blonde teenager before the man said nonchalantly. "There's no proof he ever existed anywhere, and he vanished after the Dark Lord Ganondorf - that's you, right? - was defeated."

"But...YOU exist." Ganondorf said in disbelief. He was still reeling from how the world had apparently changed in 100 years, and now he was finding out that Link, his enemy, supposedly never existed?

"Well, sure. But, I have no memory of what you're telling me. I don't have any powers like he did." The newest incarnation of his longtime rival shrugged his small shoulders. "The only reason I even believe you is because of this birthmark." He raised his left hand to show him to the Triforce of Courage.

"I don't understand..." Ganondorf looked to the side.

"Yeah, I imagine it must be a shock. I mean, you expected to be unsealed again and battle me--him--like usual, but instead of Mr. Green Tunic you get me." He gestured to his metal band t-shirt. "And, honestly, if it WAS me at the time, I would've just killed you. Sealing you away to give you the chance to come back and cause trouble again, that's clearly a dumb idea. I don't know if he had something against killing, but he sure made a lot of trouble for himself by just sealing you away."

"So, are you saying you might actually go on the quest and become the Hero of Time?" Ganondorf chuckled.

"Nope, I'm gonna kill you without even lifting a finger." The newest Link grinned at him cheekily. "Of old age."

"You diabolical fiend. You will condemn me to not only living in this strange unknown 'modern world' of yours, but for me to die of old age? I don't even know if I can." Ganondorf smiled a bit. It was refreshing seeing a smile on that face. He had been battling for so long, and what could be do now that the royal family had been overthrown? He didn't know how to handle a "democracy".

"Yep. I'm evil that way." Link stood up and dusted his pants off with his right hand. Ganondorf glanced at his injured left wrist bound in ripped cloth from his tunic and sighed. What was this, empathy? He hadn't felt that in forever. "So, let's get back to the orphanage so you can adopt me!"

"Excuse me?" Ganondorf asked.

"Well, since you were planning on kidnapping me anyway, why don't we just make it legal and you can be my dad? Y'know, since I've never had one and all. It'd be nice." Link gasped and looked at him. "But, oh no, Heaven forbid the Dark Lord does something nice!"

"Alright, you wise-ass." Ganondorf stood up and picked up the teen, carrying him to his horse. "But, I thought the town was burned down?"

"Psh. The grass was really dry before the sudden freak storm. We'll blame that." Link shrugged. "Uh, let's leave your goblins here."

"Go on ahead to the castle." Ganondorf told them as he set Link on the large black horse and climbed up. "I will return shortly."

"Cool, a castle." Link grinned.

"Yes, yes. I do have to wonder where Princess Zelda is, though." Ganondorf said as he headed in the direction of the disappating smoke.

"Who knows, who cares? There haven't been princesses in 50 years." Link reminded him. "Man, I'm gonna have to teach you a lot about this era, aren't I?"

"And I will teach you how to actually not break your wrist by being grabbed by a goblin." Ganondorf said, looking at his wrist.

"...To be fair, he did grab me really hard. Self-defense would be nice, though." Link mumbled, embarrassed.

Hopefully I don't sound like a killjoy, and if I do I apologize- in my opinion, I don't think Celeste would love Gonta romantically? If only because she's picky with the men she likes I feel...

That said, I could maybe see it platonically! She'd definitely use him as a bodyguard for sure.. Again, sorry if I put a damper!! I don't mean to diss you or anything!

Otherwise I agree about Nagito needing to see the ultimates as people and that I too don't jive with Kokichi.

[From this ask] I want to preface this by saying please don't ever worry about dissing me or upsetting me if our interpretations are diametrically opposed! I am not precious about pairings or headcanons or the like in the least, super chill 👍 I'm always down for hearing other's interpretations! Is it canon-compliant? Is it complete crack? Familial? Romantic? Platonic? Hell, you could walk into my home and state "Actually I think Taka and Mondo's relationship is doomed to end in misery" and I'd say "Ah! Do tell! how does that come about? but also how'd you find my address?"

If nothing else, platonically or romantically, Celeste and Gonta would have a really compelling dynamic to explore - the real noble raised as a complete unknown looking to rediscover his heritage, and the fake noble clinging to her dream of ascending to aristocracy, juicy!

Kokichi is a menace, and I'll have none of his fancy jiving footwork in this house.

@ididnahthither Personally no. However! I've seen some nice variations of Kirumi, Mukuro and Sakura with Taka, I think matching the girls' sensible and dedicated natures with his own - and a lot of pairings with Celeste! Often with Celeste initially pursuing Taka based on how he fits into her desired aesthetic, feelings developing later, and I'll admit- they do have the spooky goth couple look down. I think the one that surprised me with how well it could work was Leon with Taka. Leon's volatility being shown as more performative, and in fact he uses his social fluency to hide his nervous need to be liked - it creates a compelling dynamic with Taka who cannot read a room to save his life, and wears his heart on his sleeve.

That is actually kind of adorable

Given Leon's over the top, dramatic personae - calling Makoto, as someone who totally understands him, his 'soulmate' fits well into his all or nothing style. No half measures with Leon Kuwata.

He kind of reminds me a lot of Klavier Gavin from Ace Attorney, although not a suave - they're both very outwardly loud and flashy; both drawn to the spectacle of being a rockstar, but are internally much softer and in need of reassurance from those around them than you might have thought.

fem!mondo and fem!taka are a blast to mess around with!

It'd be really interesting to see how someone goes about developing their relationship as women- A huge part of how Mondo presents and interacts with others is how he's tied his identity as a man to his reputation; his strength and pride as the leader of the Diamonds, and this is what has boiled over into his toxic masculinity. Approaching Mondo's crises and dated view of gender expectation from the lens of Mondo as feminine rather than masculine would be fascinating

@yaysof11037 [the pride comic!] In my main non-despair au I've got Mondo in my head as Bisexual, although takes his sweet time recognising his attraction to men as more than just 'admiration'. The pride comic however doesn't take place in that au, so although at first I was gonna have him with the Bi flag, I thought it might be more in line with the spirit of the comic if I left it open; so people could imagine what flag they wanted instead :) (lol I did actually mention it in the tags, but it's easily overlooked XD)

In my mind, I tend to see Takemichi as having a platonic found family style relationship with the Oowadas, basically like their 3rd unofficial brother- Mondo still being the youngest, but Takemichi as a sort of moderating, long suffering, middle sibling. I've mentioned in [here] (in the asks after the readmore) that I don't have anyone specific that I pair Daiya with. In my little non-despair au, he's somewhat of a permanent bachelor, and has only really had casual relationships previously.

I'll admit that Daiya and Michi isn't one I've seen before! Takemichi does have the briefest hint that he might not be traditionally heterosexual, so him nursing a crush on Daiya wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility. However, perhaps it's because we're introduced to Daiya through the lens of his little brother Mondo, I have to say that personally I can only really see Daiya as a sort of pseudo brother figure to the members of his gang.

Daiyakure is a pretty popular pairing, and it was a bit of a surprise to me when I first saw it! And whilst it's true they never meet in the games, I think people like to explore the sort of loose and wild dynamic they could have, and since there isn't an established interaction people can go crazy with it!

I definitely remember something about being surprised that said I wasn't too into romance in [this ask] (which I also linked above ^) I think the rest was about being jazzed for Hina/Taka interactions, perhaps from the [pride] comic?

yeah, that's very fair XD I was thinking in the grand scheme of all the shows I like, and found that there are very few canonical romantic pairings that I'm invested in, and the number of headcanon ones I have, I could count on one hand.

It's worth mentioning here that the only pairing I really personally ship in Dangan is Taka with Mondo. However! I'm happy to talk about any pairings as well as ones where Taka and Mondo aren't together, zero issue there! My brain just doesn't really connect the dots of any others without prompting. My internal relationship needle mostly points to platonic like a true North, unless I see something that catches my eye and it knocks it off course XD

Taka and Hina share so much boundless passionate energy, and a certain naivete - I love to see them form a close alliance!

This ask was asking since I drew Kaito and Maki as adopted siblings in the previously linked ask dump ^ and [this one], the query was something like 'Since you drew them as siblings I assume you don't ship Kaito and Maki?'

In the original ask someone said that they saw Kaito as Mondo and Taka's kid- but I thought out of the cast of V3 Maki was a better fit than Kaito, so for that one ask, I put them as adopted siblings! In my own opinion however, Kaito fits better as Hiro's son, and upon further reflection I think Maki suits Fuyuhiko and Pekoyama best! Which of course would definitely make them not siblings.

In terms of their actual dynamic in the game, Maki's slowly defrosting nature and subsequent unyielding loyalty toward Kaito seems to be implied to being equivalent to a blooming crush. Whereas Kaito's own notion of romance is more oblique. Is it requited? Unrequited? The game'll never tell! To my mind, I don't pair them romantically- rather I lean toward Maki perhaps having an initial unreturned crush on an oblivious Kaito, but what forms instead is a strong friendship.

This ask was something like 'what do you think of saimota?' I don't remember if there was anything more to it.

I can't quite get a bead on Shuichi as a character - he's mostly reactionary, with those around him being the instigating force on how he choses to act. He seems starved of friendship because of his quiet and nervous nature so a warm, energetic presence like Kaito or Kaede certainly has him come out of his shell (literally). Shuichi and Maki have some similar traits, as well as sharing their heroic adoration of Kaito. The game seems to point toward Maki's interest as romantic so it wouldn't be disingenuous to suggest that Shuichi's might be too.

You absolutely don’t have to answer this if you don’t want to, but why won’t you watch the new season? I feel like it’s going to be quite good

I made a post somewhere about it but basically I was pissed at the choices they made in the finale of what to include or not include.

They said they filmed enough for two episodes and it showed in the editing. They included unnecessary stuff like Albert passing his test (could've made that a whole thing in season five) and bypassing Eddie's trauma and recovery by showing him healed, and wasted precious minutes shoving Buck and Taylor together when she'd made it clear multiple times in previous episodes she just wanted to be friends. I was really excited for their platonic friendship, both for them individually as characters but also because I want more man/woman friendships (Chim and Hen, yes, but Hen is a lesbian, I mean we need to show more people who COULD be attracted to each other in regards to sexuality but AREN'T because if I hear the "you can't be friends with people of genders you're attracted to" one more time, or deal with one more man acting like he has to sleep with all of his women friends at least once, I'm going to set this entire country on fire and toast marshmallows while you all burn to death on my pyre). I also was shocked they didn't have Eddie breakup with Ana after they had the buildup for it in the previous episode. They shot Eddie and then had him barely in the episode. It was all about Buck. And I loved what they had with Buck and the aftermath and Christopher! The guardianship, I swoon! But to do that and THEN have Eddie apparently home and okay, and then show him recovered and okay in Albert's test... like wow thought Eddie was a main character, Tim. Thought he was important to the cast, Tim. But no let's make his traumatic event all about the precious uwu white boy fave, shall we Tim? MEET ME IN THE FUCKING PARKING LOT, TIM.

Anyway. As I've also stated other places, I'm in a bad living situation and have been for the past year, during a pandemic, so my mental health has been in the toilet (forget the toilet it's been in the sewers) so that contributed to my extremely bad reaction to the finale. I can't really handle a lot right now. So as I've said - maybe things will change for me and I will be willing to watch the next season.

But to be honest? And I know this sounds awful. But if Buck and Eddie don't become a couple I have no interest in the show. I know others have different opinions and they are valid! I don't usually watch a show just for the ship, but Buddie is what got me into this show and if they aren't endgame then I don't have a reason to watch it. I love the other characters but dramas like this are Not My Thing and it's just not enough to make me stay. I know I sound like a Twitter stan throwing a fit, and I don't mean to sound that way. But I truly, as a writer, do not see any satisfying path for Buck or Eddie except to be together as a romantic couple, and anything else would do their journeys and relationship a disservice. So when the finale didn't even show Eddie breaking up with Ana and shoved Buck with Taylor, it kind of dashed my hopes (hopes I have not held in YEARS regarding queer ships) and made me not want to keep watching.

So there you are. My reasons for not wanting to watch. Bad finale choices, stupid het romances, I want canon slowburn queer ships.
