As always, thank you for your support!
I've been on Tumblr for SO long, and while I only use this blog as an art archive, I do appreciate all the interactions I've been able to have with people here. ; v ;
Every tag, every comment - I've seen them all! I may not always have the ability to reply, but know I am always thankful. I do recognize when the same person likes/reblogs my stuff here (and on birdsite), and some of y'all have been supporting my work for several years at this point 😭 Even with character / fandom changes...!
This is my cozy little place to share my doodles and explore things without feeling constricted. And even if I did, we all know I'm just gonna post my out-of-left-field stuff anyways LOL
I look forward to continue sharing whatever I'm working on o7

im not dead! still kicking, just been going through alot of stuff but i've really wanted to say im totally loving all the civil war art, its nice to see the union boys get some love c: and you certainyl do them justice! gotta say i also love the various artowkr you do of real uniforms for comissions especially the american ones like the tank commander and 1st lt (that i havent been able to find :c) also wanted to say, i infernally crave all your male canine men... damn it also wanted to say i love your background characters like officers ect, i really like the focus more on middle managers and regional personnel rather than a singular "big bad" its certainly very refreshing, aswell as making your characters... "uniquely generic" in that they all look just... normal lol, no crazy patterns, yet still have their quirks in personality, dress and style so you can still pick them apart c: gotta say i also loving those wolven icc brigadiers you did, its my fav rank from name lol, but also i like that they just look normal, not to throw shade at colourful fluffs, but it's nice being able to engage in some more grounded art keep on keepin on dwc, i'm still working through money stuff but i def intend to join your patreon to support you sometime soon c: wanted to ask aswell if theres any stuff like a patron discord or anything :pp (super long message ik, but that's what im here for :pp, wanted to also throw in that i appreciate my fellow paw enthusiasts <3) - pax
In life, there are three constants: death, taxes, and your asks in my inbox haha. No complaints, I appreciate the continued enthusiasm!
While I probably can't respond in full depth to everything you've brought up, I do wanna say thank you for the comments directed at my art, I'm grateful that it can be said I still deliver in that regard x3 I try to bring up all those subtle nuances for maximum effect, even in sketches. Nuances in everything between subtle hatching to imply form, to the lean toward natural colors for characters, uniform cuts, etc.
As for Patreon, you can find me there still as DWC Marshal Arts! I believe it's under the same name and everything. At the moment, it does act more like a tip jar though, as I haven't really posted many new things there since I've been saddled with finishing the queue/revenue specific projects this past year. I'm aiming to change that in 2025.
Otherwise, as I also continue to shift operations where the eggs are in a more secure basket than vichy birdsite, I would suggest also following my Bluesky for more constant updates!
Thanks for writing again!

today 2 years ago I finished yuka (the movie) and so continuing this week's apparent yuka train w doodles back when I was first figuring drawing on ipade
(ft bonus thoughts copypasted from twit)
it's very much a reflection of what i was feeling like at the time lol so the more time passes it's interesting to see my relation to it
lookin back there's plenty of bits I'd change (visually, structurally, storywise etc) but it's been done n should keep goin forward
lot of it is time constraints I had n maybe a reflection of me n my environment of the time, being in school n working on it during isolation also been thinkin of topic of Should lgbtart be Happy/Sad etc w/e. there's room for lots of different things(sry small nuance on birdsite)
ok damn I didn't want to fit another tweet in here but I've also always had difficultly communicating getting ideas across so I'm not even sure how my work in general comes across to other people but I guess that's a fun part about art is that everyone can get something different
anyway if I write anymore words rn I'm going to overthink all of them so thank you for reading my posts and enjoying my imagery

Looking Back At 2022
At the end of the year as we move into 2023, I just wanted to reflect a bit on the past 12 months in my life, where I've been and where I'd like to go.
So, what did I do this year? What did I do this year? A lot of nothing, it feels like.
That's not true, haha, I did quite a bit, but I had a couple pretty big setbacks that really threw me off. I'd wanted to do a month by month retrospective, but frankly a lot of things were a blur, so I'll just mention the big ones.
Winter to Mid-Spring
I worked mostly! I don't know what on. It all kind of runs together after a bit. There were some light novels and some manga, more light novels. Same old, same old.
Late Spring
Oohhhh, this was a bad one. I suffered some pretty severe anxiety for a number of reasons, a handful of mild panic attacks and a lot of lost sleep. I didn't work much. Not the best of times :(
Summer
Finally things started looking up again! I had made plans to attend Anime Expo for the first time. I never had much interest in going, since we have a lot of other cons here in the DC area and LA is pretty far, but I was excited to attend for once because I was able to snag an industry badge! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to secure lodging because my plans were a bit last minute, so I ended up dropping that.
Looking at how AX ended up though... kind of glad I did not go xD
It was okay though! I still went to LA, but to visit with good friends instead. I enjoyed July 4 on the beach and got to meet some other cool folks. After that, I went to Vegas for the first time to visit with another good pal. Had some good food, slept on a very comfy couch, and got to visit Omegamart! A very solid vacation.
...Mostly.
Summer to Fall
Oh boy. Oh boy. So, when I was in NV, I started getting some strange tooth pain one morning. I figured ok, I haven't been to the dentist in 5 years, this is probably a cavity or something.
It got worse. It got way worse. Even with two root canals it kept getting worse.
I'm going to go into it later because frankly I would like to make a proper post about it, but tl;dr it turns out I have a rare nerve disorder! One which I'm currently medicated for 3x daily. It took me a long, long while to claw my way out of that hole, but at least it's a climb I've been able to make.
Late Fall to Winter
And that brings us to now! As of this writing, I've been fully pain-free for almost 2 months. I don't know that it'll stay that way forever, but I'm enjoying my time while I can. I'm back to working normally and living as best I can, and I can only hope things keep getting better.
Through the Year
I've played lots of D&D this year! 3-4 diff campaigns, I can't get enough of it. I'll have to introduce everyone to my PCs later. I've picked up a new work project with some folks I've always wanted to work with, on a pretty fun series. There's been changes in the household, and wonderful news in the family. All I can say is that I'm grateful for what I have right now.
Year to Come
Obviously, I don't know what the future holds, but I can't wait to see. I plan to keep up more of the same, and work on improving my art and other crafts. And of course I'd like to keep posting here more! Gotta have some place that isn't birdsite, right? xD
Anyway, just having a ramble here while I'm waiting for dinner. Hope all of you have a wonderful new year <3

I have a writeblr @rusteddreamsstories
If you do this, do it for fun. You aren't going to get a lot of hits, probably not a lot of feedback. The only stories that seem to get any kind of feedback or fame on here are when someone writes a really stellar response to one of the writing prompts blogs writing prompts and when people do reblog chains to make chain-stories. That doesn't seem to happen nearly as much anymore as it did in the past. Additionally, tumblr seems to have recently implimented word / character-length limits. This is severely restrictive to posting anything on here anymore. They aren't as bad as the musky birdsite, but it seems like they're trying to be more like the musky birdsite and it is very frustrating. If you're looking for a professional presence, I'd look elsewhere. I've been thinking of going elsewhere for my stuff, myself, in hopes of getting people who might actually comment to help me improve my craft. (Right now, for mechanics and getting my skill attuned, I find writing fanfiction to be a better road because when you publish on Ao3, people actually read it). And yes, Ao3 technically has an "originals" section, but by their rules, your "original" has to be inspired by something fandom-wise, which is kind of dumb, if you ask me. It's like, if you're writing an original story that is "fanfiction" because it's "inspired by superhero universes" - um... you're still writing something completely original. Might as well call all fiction "fanfiction" at that rate. Anyway, tangent aside... Tumblr = good for this stuff for fun, not so good for making any kind of name for yourself or getting any solid concrit. Getting bad as far as even posting anything coherent because of that damn character-limit that needs to go away.
I’m thinking of publishing my short stories on my own. Perhaps on Tumblr or on my own website. Do any other writers have experience doing this who could give me advice?

The patterns you start to see once you've witnessed the death by rich dude of two platforms in a short period of time are really interesting.
Like how even when there's a 1:1 alternative that springs up folks still scatter, almost half was lost in one of these platform deaths. And with them, communities also scatter. Even if subgroups will regroup in other places, some won't ever find or be comfortable in those new places leaving people isolated. And it's been sad to see that those who gets left behind are more often than not some of those who needed that sense of community the most.
I've been lucky over the last year to find a close friend who lives nearby who is also aroace, that's the first point where I kind of started building more senses of community to that identity than just what I had on the birdsite. I mean there were other places already where I existed around other aro and ace people, but in those places my own purpose for community with them wasn't that identity. So I clinged to twitter longer than I should've and slowly saw fewer and fewer of those who brought me joy post, just because I didn't want to give up my second link to a community. Watching that, it's easy to interpret it like there's just fewer like you in the world total, even if you know that isn't true.
So I'm glad I had more than one link to the community, and I'm glad I've been getting more and more aroace content on tiktok. But I'm also worried for all those who only had one link to the community, and who wasn't well connected in that community. Because I know that if I only had that I would've felt really isolated, alone, and afraid because of the slow death of twitter. I would've been questioning my identity even more again. And frankly, even with more links twitters death has still made me do those things.
Oh this post is a mess, and idk what to do about any of it. Take care of each other I guess.

Got jury duty coming up? What better time than now to learn about the extremely cool and good things you can do on that jury if you get empaneled? (because learning about them after you've been empaneled is a crime)

Not sure I'm the exact right person for this oral history, but since the birdsite is imploding and advertisers might fucking try some shit over here it's a good time for all of us to remember everyone's favorite meme: "John C Miller, CEO and President of the Denny's Corporation, is a Capitalist Running Dog and his wealth must be seized and redistributed to the people”
Back in '16 or so, Denny's had a reasonably large presence on this site, from a non-artistic standpoint it's fair to say that whoever was running that blog did a pretty good job of keeping up to date on the current memes and staying relevant. Many of us, myself included, kinda just got used to them being here and let it happen, gave it little thought, maybe gave it a chuckle from time to time. At some point someone was like 'actually it sucks that a major corporation is trying to hang out with us and be our friend, they were, of course, absolutely right, and their genius response was to create a meme that they couldn't fucking coopt, hence "John C Miller, CEO and President of the Denny's Corporation, is a Capitalist Running Dog and his wealth must be seized and redistributed to the people" became the fun new thing.
"Coopt this you old so and so" was the idea and it worked pretty well, they did try it, but in a way that clearly was dancing around the central premise everyone knew they wouldn't be able to engage with. They stuck around for a little while longer, but it was clearly a major turning point in their ability to use this site to hang out with us, a good thing.
The point, as advertisers try to find new, less feral places to spend their advertising budgets, is that we don't have to just ignore them, that's a good start, but we can bite their fucking hands if they try it. We do not have to play nice with advertisers trying to be our friends, we can be feral.
Anyhow, I definitely am not positive I've gotten every detail right, so if there's any major corrections anyone needs to add, feel free, memedoccumentation had a post about it that helped me refresh my memory although my analysis of aspects differ from this point in history, as it were, but if you want to read up a bit more this is a solid starting point that has some fun examples

Happy 13 year anniversary (July 25th 2022) to the last time the United States raised its Federal Minimum Wage! In an astounding and unacceptable transfer of wealth to the already wealthy, it's lost a full 27% of its purchasing power since then!!

Something I've found that I struggle with is being active with other people online that seems to have gotten much worse over the last few years
I've known about this for a long time but I started noticing how much worse it's gotten when this whole birdsite fiasco happened. Like I got real quiet on social because I didn't want to bother anyone or be harassed by birdsite jerks
My anxiety shoots through the roof whenever I think about commenting on a post, a video or even interacting in a chat room I'm not familiar with that I ultimately don't do it and seclude myself even further into my shell
Like with mastodon I know it's common parlance to do a introduction post and I've been meaning to do it for the last 3 weeks but then my brain does a big freak out and doesn't do it
