I’m a new listener and I think your readings are so amazing. I often read to my husband on long road trips while he’s driving, so I have a little experience trying to show when different characters are speaking. It’s so hard! You do such an excellent job, particularly when the four of them are together. I can always tell the difference between Draco, Ron, and Harry which I think is extremely talented of you. Not to mention the mixing! And sound effects! I can’t even imagine beginning to do such a thing.
I’m really really thankful that you’re recording Lionheart! I’ve been really wanting to re-read it soso badly, but just can’t justify spending the time when I have such a long reading list and so little time to read. So thank you thank you thank you! You and GT are both so talented, and I’m in disbelief all the time that y’all gift us things like this.
Thanks again 🧡
OMG I'm so jealous of your husband! I wish my partner would read to me... he must love road trips with you. Have you thought about becoming a podficcer? 👀 we can always do with more, with the ever expanding catalogue of fics. Totally agree with you on the difficulty in making characters sound different, especially with big scenes and a large cast of characters. When the Golden Quartet are in the same room as similar sounding voiced characters it can be hellish. E.g. the Christmas Party chapter was SO much fun but the only difference between Hermione and Daphne is the slight posher enunciations, then you've got Lupin, a deeper Harry gravel voice, with Harry...and Draco with Sirius, who is just a deeper Draco voice 😂 If characters aren't regular cameos then I tend to just throw whatever comes out of my mouth tbh, if I can't remember what it was, then the listener can't - is what I tell myself so I can sleep at night.
And thank you for saying so about their voices, I worked really hard on Ron's because he sounded too similar to Draco in my initial practice recordings. Sound effects aren't too bad to be honest! It's just a case of finding something that matches the little movie in your brain, and then if you can't find a royalty free sound, there's the effort and task of re-creating one with household items or yourself. For example, I'm the pistons of the Hogwarts Express, just slowed my "tshh tshh tshh" down gradually and lowered the pitch. Did the same inhaling into the mic up close for the Dementors. As for the werewolf scream/howl in CH20 something, make like Hermione and "awooo", play with the tempo a bit, find a royalty free male scream of agony and mix the two together. It's more time consuming than anything, to be honest with you!
Haha, this fandom is a bit like throwing Netflix on and scrolling endlessly till you find something to watch, but then all of a sudden there's 50 shows you want to watch, all at the same time. Too much bloody choice but I say that lovingly because we're never going to be starved. One of my favourite romance manga has a dead fandom, there's like 40 fics for it, most are in Spanish and I've read them all. So Dramione fans do not know how lucky they are to have such a thriving community!
The entire collective mind of the Dramione fandom is so generous and talented, it's mind boggling, and over a year in I'll be reading something and be overcome with that feeling of "holy shit, this is free to read." We can thank a mixture of "wow I can do whatever the fuck I want" and insane levels of passion for that. And YES, totally not biased of me to say that GT is one of my favourite writers, and Lionheart is not just the one of the best fanfic I've read, it tops anything published I've ever read, the beautiful prose, the amazing characterisations and depth, so much depth to every single character, among many other things I could gush about, and I'm so grateful to them for allowing me make the experience more accessible to people.
Thanks so much again for your kind words and for listening to my podfic, apologies if I rambled on a bit. I was clearly feeling talkative today. 🤗
#mandgreadings#podfic#dramione#lionheart#works of passion are always better than monetised things imho#you can feel the love poured into every word of fanfic whereas a published book I can sense the writers stress or where an editor stepped i#Fanfiction has genuinely ruined my enjoyment of published literature because of that realisation.#I'm not mad though

this is irrelevant to everything i post on here but i am in the mood to slag off some movies so here's every movie on the first page of the letterboxd romance comedy list that i have seen and have thoughts about. i left out a couple like princess diaries and big because girl those are not romance comedies in my eyes that is a princess movie and a movie about a guy that accidentally gets old and happens to find a girl along the way
anora : know a lot of you apparently didn't like it but i enjoyed thoroughly. saw it at a film festival and had a lot of fun. whatever. it's not a romantic comedy but i did laugh at some parts
500 days of summer: was one of my favourites for ages but then i watched it too many times so now it's redundant a bit. the pairing of joseph gordon levitt and zooey deschanel is perfect and crazy .! you don't want to know the me that i was when i was into this movie also not really a romantic comedy but i do see romance comedy so i'll let it slide
lost in translation: love this movie but not a romantic comedy so im not commenting
how to lose a guy in 10 days: overhyped. i wasn't rooting for them to end up together until like the last half hour and i found a lot of it really hard to get through. matthew mcconaughey is hot though #true
about time: i'm happy for you if this is your favourite but it isn't mine. it was sweet but nothing about it spoke to me
when harry met sally: people on twitter specifically love to call you insane and that you don't know about real love if you hate this movie and i didn't hate it but i just didn't care really. i hated the scene in katz though that's for sure .. and i've been to katz! once. but still! i've been!
13 going on 30: biased but my favourite. astronomical crush on mark ruffalo. manages to show me love and friendship and values and great fashion. watched many times and never gets old. i liked it ages before shein got a hold of the versace dress so don't start on me my friends can attest to my adoration of this film spanning a lifetime
notting hill: actually such fun.. i love julia roberts. i don't think i have ever caught the ending of the film but i enjoy regardless and i think that maybe it's because it's set in london and i am decidedly from there whether i like it or not
crazy stupid love: i rewatched this recently and it's kind of the best thing ever so silly and cute and dumb as hell.. love you ryan gosling #true
love actually: was my annual christmas movie pick for many years but i've really seen it too many times now and i'm sick of it. but i remember it fondly
pretty woman: i don't remember much about this other than the fact that i love julia roberts
licorice pizza: ughhhhhh such a good cast for such a subpar movie
silver linings playbook: kind of a really good movie even to this day but i do not consider it a romantic comedy .. i seem to be discovering the difference between romance comedy and romantic comedy. why not have two separate tags?
palm springs: really funny i love andy samberg and cristin milioti . i won't say underrated because everyone talks about it but i waws surprised by how funny i found it and how much fun i had watching it
the holiday: the replacement christmas watch .
crazy rich asians: the aeroplane watch. i've seen bits of it so many times why is it always on tv
punch drunk love: everyone loves this but i think i just don't like paul thomas anderson's vision because i didn't really get it
to all the boys i've loved before (all of them cause they're the same to me): just fine. like not as bad as the other netflix romance nonsense movies but not really good either. i was the target demographic when they released so i was into them then i suppose
bridget jones's diary: colin firth is the most charming man in the world
50 first dates: i was obsessed with this film when i was younger and yeah the comedy is stupid but i think that the message is really sweet
friends with benefits: ugly stupid and not funny
chef: this isn't a romantic comedy or a romance comedy this is a movie about a food truck
me earl and the dying girl: i watched this when it came out and i do not remember a single thing about it other than the fact that i saw it but i think it was good
love and other drugs: yeah i enjoyed. they need to start making romcoms again like why has the genre vanished kind of
sleepless in seattle: enjoyed. thought i was getting this mixed up with another tom hanks movie but no i was right i do remember it and it was very sweet
the big sick: i don't even remember watching this but apparently i did. that tells you all you need to know i think (just looked and i gave it 4 stars????)
bride wars: dumb but good for background. do not need full attention for this nonsense
rye lane: such a sweet promising new romantic comedy i really enjoyed it. sooo london too!

Hi~! I haven't watched/read the girl on the train. It's more of a mystery/thriller kind of story, right? I think I always prefer movies to books when it's a romantic story without anything big to imagine, and when it's a fantasy/magical/dystopian story, I usually prefer the movie if it's done well (but if they change the story line, then not so much). For example, in terms of The Maze Runner, Shadow & Bone, Harry Potter, I prefer the movie, but City of Bones and Divergent, I prefer the books.
I was so sad to see Kai being pissed because you know someone's done TXT dirty if he's pissed. I totally agree! It's such a good feeling! Speaking of which, when did you get into kpop? Did you have ult groups before TXT? I feel you though. Kpop groups barely come to my country, and even if they do, tickets are sold out before I can get one for myself. 😭I actually spent a semester in the UK last year, I was hoping to see my fav UK band (The Vamps), but then I didn't manage to because of Covid.😭
I've been to a Day6 concert in Berlin, but that's the only kpop concert I've been to. Sadly, not many international acts come here, and I don't really listen to local music, but hopefully, once the situation gets better, I get the chance to travel or have a mini trip to a different country because of a concert like I did with Day6. *-* But I love orchestra concerts and theatre plays, musicals. Do you like them? *-* Yeah, I'm planning on visiting a Christmas market as well, and going home. 🥰
Going to a Christmas market and lighting scented candles, drinking cinnamon-apple-winter spices tea are my Christmas time traditions because I'm trying to get myself into the spirit, and it's working so far. *-* Aww I'm so glad you'll be able to have a different new year's eve this year! I always spend it with my close family, we play board games until midnight, have something to drink and eat, and just watch a movie or spend the day together, so I can't wait. *-* Hope you're taking care! 🥰 -❄️
HI SECRET MOA!!! I'm so sorry this is so late fgnek
I agree with the romance and the fantasy and magical genres as movies, I feel like I'm easily fascinated by the cinematography and the whole lot, plus I know that when reading we can literally imagine it all in our heads, but I do enjoy some good aesthetically pleasing movies!! however, I haven't read the city of bones but I did try watching the movie, but personally, it didn't hit the same as shadowhunters, which I loved with my whole heart. I think because it was a series and I'm more into series than movies these days, but it may also have been because I loved each of the characters and just the anticipation of waiting for the next episode to be released! I remember me and my sister finished season 1 and loved it, but we had to wait for season 2 and then plenty of months later, we forgot about it entirely and stumbled upon it again on netflix hehe and we had season 2 and 3 to binge watch 😌
I actually got into kpop around 2014/2015! one of my friends introduced me to bts and the first song I listened to was war of harmones. at first I honestly didn't know how to feel about it because I just left my one direction and lowkey ' emo phase' fjngekj I think I was listening to a lot of avril lavigne, pierce the veil and sleeping with sirens so kpop was all so new to me🧍♀but I got into them pretty quickly actually, I started listening to big bang, vixx and I think a few exo songs too. I started stanning bts properly just in time for their the most beautiful moments in life comeback andI guess that's also when I knew I'm in this kpop shii for life HAHHAHA when did you get into kpop? (I'm sorry if I've asked you this before!)
but yoo!!! where abouts in the uk did you stay? (if that's okay) I find that so intriguing when people say they've come here to visit, I still get very much intrigued when I meet fellow british moas too hehe but covid sucks a*s :(( I'm sorry you didn't get to see the vamps. fun fact actually, the vamps were also my favourite group growing up, second after one direction LMAO but I feel like I was more of a vampette than a directioner ^^ and I can't believe you've gone to see day6 as well 😭 my sister's been trying to get me into them for the longest time, but I really like their songs esp you were beautiful like it breaks my heart, but I love it:(( it's truly amazing how you travel to see these artists!! but it's definitely worth it for sure, I would if I could hehe
ngl I haven't been to an orchestra concert or theatre plays since I was still in high school, and I think the last thing I went to see was les miserables as a trip with my music class! I've seen plenty of others like annie and the wind in the willows when I was around 10/11 yrs old!
I hope you go home safely when you do!! I'm so excited to go to the christmas market :'D our christmas market had been cancelled for 2 years because of covid and I'm just happy that I get to go there again but this time with my friends :> I think that's such a cute way to get into the christmas spirit 🥺 I just really get the cheesy sausages and the churros at the christmas market hehe, but I also admire the lights and decoration in the city centre, so that's another thing! and that sounds so chill and exciting hehe, we usually stay up waaay past midnight, sometimes until 4am just because our family friends haven't seen each other for so long and we just spend more time with each other and catching up and talking about random things here and there hehe
it was nice hearing from you again secret moa! take care also and talk to you soon~

I wasn't tagged, but this looked fun so thanks for starting it @bowie-boy!!
A movie from your childhood

Alice in Wonderland (2010)
I went to see this movie with my mom when it first came out and I liked it so much that we bought the DVD and I watched it all the time with my cousin.
A movie you discovered recently

A Dog's Purpose (2017)
I watched this movie a few days ago and it was actually really good, but it was really sad too. I cried so many times. I also thought it was cool how it went through all the different time periods.
A comfort movie

Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)
I've been trying to watch all the Studio Ghibli movies since they added them to Netflix, and this one was definitely one of my favourites. The plot and all the characters are just so wholesome!!! I like to watch it when I'm feeling sad or lonely because its just so nice!
A movie that makes you feel represented or recognised

Captain Marvel (2019)
I saw Captain Marvel on the day it came out in cinemas with my mom and we both really liked it! It makes me feel represented because its the first movie in the MCU with a female lead.
A movie with your favourite actor(s)

Wild Child (2008)
I don't really have a favourite actor, but Emma Roberts is pretty cool. I realised I haven't seen many actual movies with her in them (I mostly like her because she was in AHS), but upon further research I found out that she's the girl from Wild Child. I think I only saw this movie once, at least 5 years ago, but it was pretty good from what I can remember.
Your favourite movie out of a franchise

Paddington 2 (2017)
I don't know if it counts as a franchise if there's only two movies, but I rewatched this movie with my dad over Christmas and I remembered how good it is! It's really wholesome and funny, and I personally prefer it to the first Paddington film.
A ''horror'' movie you enjoy

Coraline (2009)
I haven't really watched many horror movies, because I'm a wimp, but I've been forced by my friends to watch Coraline so many times that I've probably become kind of immune to the creepiness of it by now. All creepiness aside though, it is a really good movie with so many cool plot twists.
A romance movie you enjoy

Alex Strangelove (2018)
I watched this movie with low expectations, but in the end I actually really enjoyed it! It was really funny and I felt I could really relate to Alex when he started questioning his sexuality. Also the romance and pining between Alex and Elliott was just so nice and cute!!
An animated movie you enjoy

Only Yesterday (1991)
Oh gosh, there's about a million different movies I could put into this category, but, as I mentioned earlier, I've been watching a lot of Studio Ghibli movies recently and this one is definitely my favourite so far. It was just so sweet the way it went through Taeko's childhood, and it was so cute when she decided to stay in the countryside with Toshio at the end!!
Your favourite movie

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
I know this film is also animated, but it's honestly my favourite movie in the whole wide world, and personally I think it's one of the best films ever made. I love everything about this movie; from the plot, to the characters, to the animation. I also love that I notice new things every time I watch it (and trust me, I've seen it a lot of times). In fact, I love it so much that I did a presentation on it in English class last year, and got full marks!
Thanks so much for making this! Quarantine sucks and its so stressful, but this was really fun and it helped me take my mind off things a bit!! I tag:

A movie with your favorite actor(s)
Your favorite movie out of a franchise
A “horror” movie you enjoy
A romance movie you enjoy

Your favorite movie
I’ll go first!
Hook (1991)
To live...to live will be an awfully big adventure.
1917 (2019)
I hoped today might be a good day. Hope is a dangerous thing.
The Lost Boys (1987)
Now you know what we are, now you know what you are. You’ll never grow old, Michael, and you’ll never die. But you must feed!
Love, Simon (2018)
But you get to exhale now, Simon. You get to be more you than you have been in, in a very long time. You deserve everything you want.
Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
Manners maketh man. Do you know what that means? Then let me teach you a lesson.
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
It's the greatest gift we have: to bear their pain without breaking. And it comes from the most human part of us: hope.
Happy Death Day (2017)
I can't change what I've done, but I can start trying to be a better person today.
Pride and Prejudice (2005)
My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love—I love—I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Look, I know I don't always do what you need me to do, or say what you need me to say, but I see this spark in you. It's amazing. It's why I push you. But it's yours, and whatever you choose to do with it, you'll be great.
Secondhand Lions (2003)
Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil. True love never dies.
Let’s get it started! I tag @lucasinthebathroom @filmmakingismylife16 @outer-space-beech @3am-thoughts-of-an-aimless-mind and @sensaxtional to start (also if you see this and want to participate please do!)
