ever since i started participating in the BDS movement, i've been really looking into the brands i'm frequently buying from & it's actually been really eye opening to find out just how many brands are owned by the same 3 parent companies. it was really difficult in the beginning... trying to find alternatives to everyday brands... but it's also been really nice to discover a lot of local brands that i would've otherwise overlooked. it's also really helped me in cutting down the amount of products i buy. it's helping me be super mindful in what i put my money towards and i've stopped participating in buying trendy stuff like whatever skincare product is currently trending and everyone's using.... and it's been great! i think it's really easy to get caught up in this consumerist culture and it can be anything from wanting to buy an iphone to the latest stanley cup or whatever moisturizer is all the rage rn. so yes... wherever you can afford to boycott brands... you should definitely do it!! it's always a good thing to invest in things that you really need and from brands that support your values!
#just my 2 cents on boycotting#the only thing i usually end up spending a lot of money on is skincare and lately i've completely divested from problematic brands and i've#been buying from local indian brands instead and i really love discovering some of these niche brands#i'm still trying to get my mom to divest from some of the household products that we buy regularly but it's hard to find alternatives here#admitting that we're a work in progress#keshika rambles#bds movement
