"Are you sure we can fit inside this tent?"

The tent Gladio and Prompto set is small. You don't think it's taller than Gladio but Prompto assures you because they always use this tent during their adventure. It looks like an average tent you'll find during outdoor activity — simple and practical.

Noct doesn't pay attention towards the size and enters the tent to lay his body down, falling asleep right after his body hit the ground. "Ugh, this airhead," you growl, crawling into the tent and fold your jacket to place it under his head as a pillow.

"Alright, you'll sleep beside her while this blondie and I will be on the other side," Gladio points at the other corner of the tent to Ignis before getting inside with Prompto. Not giving any second glance and fall asleep almost instantly like Noctis, leaving him and you to stay awake.

Noctis turns over his back and facing you before opening his eyes slightly, squinting his eyes at your appearance and holding out his hand to you. "Seriously," you sigh, taking his hand into a gentle hold while rubbing your thumb in circular motion over the backside.

It's a certain habit Noctis picks up until today since you slept in the same room with him when young. Your father made both of you sharing the bedroom to create a strong bond. Of course fightings can't be avoided, but you can assure yourself how much you love Noctis and how he bears the same feeling for you — even bigger than what you think underneath his childish antics.

You feel something draped over your shoulders and find Ignis' jacket covering your upper half. He doesn't make any single noise, making sure the others can sleep well because he agrees with you — the crickets are bloody noisy because it's mating season for them here.

You're sleepy — that's an understatement.

You try to keep your eyes open to make sure you still hold Noct's hand and not letting it go. But, your eyes feel so heavy and dry. Today's not the best day of your life — you dare to call it the worst one after spilling hot tea over Noct's lap at ten and getting engaged to Ignis.

Yeah, this is nothing worse than getting engaged to someone who cares about their betrothed's brother more than her for years — even if it's out of sense of duty.

Except spilling hot tea on the crown prince's lap.

It's nightmare.

Your hand feels numb and you want to curse at Noctis for not letting it go. Your head falls down to your shoulder, holding on it to not fall over as you can see your sight getting darker than before.

Ah, whatever. I'm sleepy..

"Wakey-wakey," you feel a light slap on your cheek.

"Rise and shine, princess," you can hear Prompto's voice loud and clear before you finally open your eyes.

You're laying down with your jacket (that's shared with sleeping Noctis beside you) underneath the head and Ignis' jacket covering your torso. You still hold Noct's hand and you're not too sure if he will let it go by anytime soon (unless he finally wakes up).

Ignis is already outside with Prompto, exchanging random banters here and there before you stretch out your limbs, feeling cramp after getting squeezed in a small space to sleep with men over 170 centimetres.

"Not technically 'up'," you reply to Gladio before laying down again and close your eyes, hearing brief complaint from him of how blood doesn't lie — including for the royalty.

You can't help but agree that Noctis and you share this thing in common — always sleepy and hard to wake up.

Gladio doesn't have any heart to wake you up from your sleep twice because he knows that it takes a lot of energy for you to use your fan — especially to create a strong blow. Having you around kinda helpful, too, because of your ability, they can cut time to kill numerous beasts because it only takes you a single blow to kill a group effectively under a minute.

"Where's the princess? I thought you went to wake her up," Ignis asks when Gladio comes out from the tent.

"Give the lady a break — she helped us not to waste more time yesterday, no?" Ignis lets out a sigh, understanding Gladio's reason.

You are for sure held a role in the team for cutting to the chase yesterday and he's more than impressed to see how far you are from a few years ago — still struggling to summon a spear to fight low-rank beast during training session with Gladio at a forest nearby the estate.

"If it's your jacket, I can—"

"No, let it be. We can't afford to find someone sick in this crew because of the low temperature at night here," he replies before taking few steps away from Gladio.

But, it's almost 28 degrees now...

"Wake up," you feel someone caressing your cheek gently with the backside of their finger.

Is it Gladio again? No, this isn't his hand. You have been slapped by him enough times to recognise his hand and imprint it into your mind to remember.

Prompto won't do something like this because he's always getting panicky when getting too close with someone, especially girls.

Noctis.. just, no.

You're stirring in your sleep before you take the hand in your grasp, bringing it closer to warm your body up. You don't know if the sun rose or you're still getting chills from the night.

Still having difficulty recognising this one hand with one brain cell that stays awake to keep you sane in this journey, you decide to give up and continue to sleep.

There are four guys. Those three won't match. Then this hand belong to...

"Ignis!"

You hear a soft hush, telling something about not being loud around the princess or she'll die or something dawn. You can't be sure about the latter because your ears are covered by your hair.

Feeling enough with the sleep you got, you open your eyes and find Ignis reading a book on one hand beside you while the other one is being held by.. you?

"Do you feel refreshed? I'm sorry but I can't find anything to cook and hope you don't mind summoning some ingredients for us," he places the book down before you let his hand go to rub away the sleepiness from your eyes.

"Finally, the sleeping princess is awake," Noctis chuckles out. "Even I woke up earlier than you," he boasts, feeling proud that he's no longer the one who the last to wake up because you're here.

You brush his comment off because your head is still half asleep to fight him before summoning the ingredients Ignis needs to cook. You take a seat beside Prompto, who gives you a loud 'good morning!' and bumps his shoulder against yours before doing the same to him.

"Do I smell meat!" Noctis turns his head to see Ignis cooking a steak for us before running in my direction and holding my hands in his, looking at me with sparkly eyes.

"Have I—"

"Shut up!"

The steak smells like a real deal and you don't mind eating it once in a while (after getting scolded for the lack of protein you have in your diet) and looks at the happy Noct beside you, enjoying the steak on his lap.

"Man, this taste heavenly!" Prompto gives Ignis a thumbs up before finishing up his plate.

You take a bite and agree with Prompto because after all — Ignis' cooking will always make you leave for more.

"Noct— wha..."

You were more than disgusted when you found yourself in Noctis' apartment with Ignis because instead of a residence — it looks like a landfill in one way, a certain way of whatever because it's messy, dirty and utterly disgusting.

Plopping your bag on the sofa, you rolled your sleeves. Made sure you put on an apron and wore gloves — feeling certain that you could find a new artefact of noodle cup or broken pan (if that was possible).

"How come he still breathes," you cringed and carefully put the trash based on their type before making sure none was left.

Filling up a bucket of water & soap, you knelt on the ground to clean up the floorboards. It took you almost three hours to finally finish because some stains of soda and spilt milk made you have a mental breakdown for half an hour.

"Please don't bother to invite me here. I think cleaning his mess had shed thirty years off my lifespan," you laid down on the sofa, thanking Noctis for not ruining it for you.

Ignis watched you sleeping figure in silent before taking off his jacket and laid it over your body, making sure you felt warm enough to sleep well after the exhausting job you done.

"She already done this for him?" Ignis asked to himself when he found a report for Noctis full of notes and marks from you.

He smiled and placed it on the table in the living room, knowing that you cared about your brother more than what you said and making sure he could do both his job as a student and crown prince easier.

"Princess," you opened your eyes at his voice, feeling a bit irrigated that he woke you up after cleaning up Noct's room. "What is it, Ignis?" You rubbed your eyes and felt something slip down, finding his jacket sliding on the sofa from your body.

He placed a plate of Tenebraen sweet Noctis always asked to recreate — something about it was the only thing he wanted to eat after leaving the brief visit to Tenebrae had ended.

"I'd rather eat strawberry shortcake," you grumbled down, taking a look of them. "It has Ulwaat berries inside," he replied before you finally gave up to have a debate with him and ate it.

"How's it?" He walked behind the counter to brew some tea for you and coffee for himself. "I don't like it. Flaky and dry," you replied after finished it, cleaning up your hands with a napkin.

You took the tea from his hand, enjoying the creamy taste of milk and sweetness from hydrangea tea. "I love it when you made this tea for me!" You smiled at Ignis, not noticing the faint blush and subtle smile on his face when you drinking down your tea.

"Here, your tea," you find a cup of hydrangea milk tea in your hand from Ignis, enjoying the sweet smell and warmth it provides.

"You still like it? It's so sweet that I think I caught diabetes after drinking it once," Gladio shakes his head at your taste, remembering how sweet it is in his tongue.

"Well, that's why she's sweet!" Prompto chirps, earning a glare from Noctis — who grabs him by collar for making a cheesy pick-up line.

"Did you just flirt with her!"

There's some things that can enrage Noctis and flirting with his sister is one of the top-tier list to have your neck snapped by the crown prince of Lucis. He doesn't like the way noble houses send proposal letter to her as he'll always be the one who takes care of it.

Having Scientia house to send Ignis as her betrothed isn't a bad thing because he knows Ignis would take care of her well — unfortunately, he's a very stoic and strict person to her that Noctis thought it was a mistake to let his father to accept Scientia's proposal.

But, having someone who knows about her status and flirting with her is something that's unforgivable—

"Let it go. It's a harmless joke, Noct," you place down your cup, feeling irritated with his sudden outburst before Noctis pulls away from Prompto, apologising for his reckless decision that can get him hurt.

Fortunately, the fight doesn't affect their relationship as both of them jokes around together like the usual while cleaning up the area and disassemble the tent.

"Alright, time to fight some Dualhorn!"

Looking for it isn't so hard because you can hear a noise not far from north. Everyone has their weapon on hand and waiting for the right time to ambush it.

Hiding behind a tree, Noctis asks you and Prompto to keep some distance as three of them will attack it in a closer range. "I'll make sure to not have it touches you," you tells Prompto before receiving a sign and begin the ambush.

It doesn't take a long time and everyone especially Noctis and Prompto are more than happy to eat Ignis' special steak once more for tonight.

"The horn, it's red," Gladio shows you the blood coloured horn from the Dualhorn as you examines it in confusion. "That's strange. We should keep it and ask someone that might help us," you reply before Gladio places it in a safe place.

"We should go now. I'm sure Dave is waiting for us," Noctis says before all of you go back to find him.

After telling Dave about your successful capture, he rewards you with some money and another flask to use during certain fight in this journey.

You finally go back to the Hammerhead and find Regalia in its prime condition. Hopping into the back seat with Gladio and Noctis, Cindy suddenly stops you before giving a small package.

"There's a motel not too far from here. Please give this to the owner," she smiles before you give it to Gladio and accept her request.

Driving to fastest route to the motel, all of you are more than mortified to find all roads end with blockade because of the imperial army.

Ignis takes a sharp turn to find another way and feeling more than relieved when finally found it. "I think instead of died because of old age, I could have died because of heart attack after seeing imperial army," you groan, feeling scared and nervous when you think that Leide has been taken by them.

Arriving at Longwythe Rest Area, all of you get off from Regalia and get inside to find the owner, fulfilling Cindy's request for delivery this package and give it to them without wasting any time.

"How about we take a rest here first before going to Galdin Quay?" Everyone agrees with your choice before renting a room and get inside, looking at the interior while Noctis goes straight to the bed.

Hearing a soft knock from outside, you're more than shocked to find Umbra, holding a similar book with its jaw before going to him.

Umbra is a dog owned by Lunafreya, your brother's betrothed, who lives far away at Tenebrae as the Oracle with her family as the sovereign.

Prompto and Gladio leave the room because they want to go around more while Noctis is busy reading the book before writing down something before giving the book back to Umbra before it leaves the motel.

"What a fortune to have such a kind and attentive betrothed, how envious I am," you reply, laying down on the bed with Noctis while hugging a pillow.

"If only mine's a bit caring, I might finally in love with him like you do," you pout, placing the pillow over your head as you scream into it — wishing there's a male counterpart of Lunafreya for you to get engaged with.

Noctis doesn't give you any reply because he knows how Ignis pays attention to him more instead of you — which makes him feeling more than guilty of it. Yet, he doesn't want to partake in this matter. So, he strides out from the room and finds Ignis leaning against the wall outside — perhaps hearing a complaint you made about him. He places his hand over Ignis' shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze before walking away from the room to give him a privacy and time to spend with you.

He pulls a chair to sit down beside your bed, sighing softly at your ongoing rambles about how cold, insensitive and strict he is both as a tutor and fiancé. Your ramble finally ends when you bring up about how you wish you to be with Gladio instead if he's single because Ignis cares more about your brother because of his status as the personal retainer.

Taking off his gloves, he places then on a nightstand before taking your hand in his gently — trying to calm you down by running his thumb over it.

He watches your chest rises slowly, noticing you finally getting calmed down after having a lengthy complaints about his demeanour and behaviour around you.

He takes out the pillow from your head, watching your widened eyes at his appearance. "Feel better?" He asks, brushing your cheek with his thumb slowly to make you feel better.

"Why are you here? Where's my airheaded brother?" You snarl, slapping his hand away from your cheek. You wipe the area where he touch you — feeling more than angry to find the last person you want to see here.

"Noct headed out with the others. I'm here so you won't feel lonely," he replies, fixing up his glasses as you scoff at his words.

"Of course, I won't. My betrothed been neglecting me for a long time, sleeping in an empty bedroom is nothing to me," you nibble your lower lip, hoping it won't come out harsh on him — or hoping it will, to teach him a lesson or two.

"Neglecting?" He furrows his eyebrows at you, guilt filling up his heart.

You don't mean to give him a low blow, but you can't ignore how many times he disappoints you for quite a long time by spending all of the time he has to be with Noctis.

But, you know that you're selfish for that.

Ignis attends an academy to receive a special education for gifted children while fulfilling his duty as a royal advisor since teenager, a personal retainer for your brother since six, your private tutor and also as the heir for his household.

His plate is more than full, it's overloaded.

He has a hard time to get a proper rest (which you're sure he doesn't even get) and taking care of your brother after he moved out was more than troublesome for him — especially because he has abundant reports to make for Noctis to study (which he doesn't do most of time).

"I'm sorry," escapes from his lips. He doesn't look straight into your eyes out of embarrassment and guilt that eating him up from inside.

You let out a sigh before shaking your head at his apology, "No," you whisper. You know it's not his fault to stand in such a position — to bear the name of Scientia isn't his choice and to be your fiancé isn't any different.

"I should have been more thoughtful," you reply, wrapping your arms around his neck to pull him into a hug.

He's quite shocked but feeling relieved to find out that you don't hate him for that. He wraps his arms around your waist securely, pulling you closer to him as you fancy the certain scent he emits.

Something warm and spicy — maybe because of the cinnamon and cardamom he used during cooking or because of that Ebony coffee he loves so much to drink (but, Noctis and you hate it so much that he begged to father once to not let it stays near us).

"Your fashion style sucks, I feel like my eyes are burning when looking at it," you mutter down under your breath as he lets out a deep chuckle.

You have been making a comment of how you're not fond of his daily outfit when accompanying Noctis — but never making a comment telling him to change it into something else aside from his casual outfit in white shirt and suspender.

You realise that Ignis might be uncomfortable with the sudden hug as you reluctantly pry your hands off from him — only to have him tightening his hold on you.

"Stay," he whispers into your ear as you nod, resting your head against his shoulder. You enjoy the warmth his body radiates and you find your eyelids getting heavier after each second before falling asleep against the crook of his neck — not realising a certain blond head having his heart getting crushed outside the room.
