lets hope they take the RIDICULOUS amount of picture evidence and voice recordings i have of the situation i'm in and actually... y'know. Do something about it.

also, did anyone know that apparently i could get jail time because my dad is so fucking lazy that he's neglecting his own care, putting himself in danger of further hospitalization, that if he winds up actually hurting himself with his own bullshit, key workers would blame his lack of care on me instead of taking responsibility themselves like they damn well should have done from day one?

because I didn't know that.

Sorry it's taken me a while to answer! But here we go with a lil treat: a few bits from my Vipsania fanfic (Can't Catch Me Now), set during the 25th Hunger Games. It's from Hilarius' POV <3

"Now, onto the matter at hand. I understand your family is quite attached to Heavensbee Hall. It's quite the landmark in our city, isn't it?" Coriolanus asked.

The blood drained from Hilarius' face as he sat opposite the president. "I don't see what that has to do with anything."

"Oh, but it does" Coriolanus leaned forward. "You see, the Capitol is developing and certain... relics of the past are becoming less relevant. Less appreciated. But I have plans for that space. Grand plans."

"What are you asking of me?"

Coriolanus' smile grew colder. "It's quite simple, really. I need you to understand that your family's safety is... dependant upon certain decisions you make" His gaze drifted to the hallway, where the faint sound of a door opening was heard. "Dearest Vipsania... and your precious Plutarch" he said, "both would be missed if should you refuse my vision for the future."

The color drained from Hilarius' face as those words sank in. "What do you want?" he asked.

"I want you to give the order for me to tear down the Heavensbee Hall" Coriolanus replied. "It's an old building, connected with too many bad memories. In exchange, I'll ensure that your family remains... intact. After all, we wouldn't want any harm on little Plutarch. You see, the Capitol can be a very unforgiving place for those who don't align with its interests."

Hilarius' mind raced as he searched for a way out of this situation. The thought of losing Vipsania and Plutarch was unbearable, and the idea of betraying his family's legacy made him feel like a traitor. But at the same time he knew that the president was not one to make idle threats. "I'll give the order tomorrow." Hilarius eventually said.

"I expect nothing less." Coriolanus replied as he got ready to leave.

The sound of Vipsania's footsteps grew closer, and she looked at him with concern. "Who was it?" she asked.

"Just a guest" he lied, hoping his tone was convincing. He didn't want to burden her with the horrors of Coriolanus' visit. "How are you feeling?"

"Tired, but better" she said truthfully. "But tell me, what's bothering you?"

Hilarius took a deep breath, his hand shaking slightly as he reached for hers. "It's nothing, my love" he assured her. "Just... politics." [...]

ooo i love this question!! so, i think this would change depending on his age. in his youth he's using typical ones like "baby", "babe", but as he gets older he starts using more tender ones, like "sweetheart". i think "honey" or "hun" is a constant one though!! i absolutely love using this nickname in my writings for him, it just seems the most like him, you know?

also!! for my bad boy! dave lovers, he definitely calls you cute little names like "pretty girl", "sweetness", "sweetheart", etc.

Hello, I am here to inform you that I’ve been attempting to recreate the Midnight Alley and tunnels to Icaria in Minecraft for the last week or so and it’s going well!

So far I have the bridges area mostly done, the tunnels our boys fell into, and the generic outline of the alley itself. I’m working on the tunnels and walls of the cavern next :)

(If you wanna see pictures or progress updates or even give feedback on my design choices let me know!)

!! Omg I would love to see it!!! That is so exciting I hadn't considered someone would want to recreate the Alley and tunnels. The bridges are such cool imagery I think so this is very exciting :) I'd love to see anything you've created!

you know what in my desperate hunt for a job that's been going for three months now (unsuccessfully) i have come to realize not a ton of things piss me off more than the state of the western comic industry. not that i've been looking for work in it i would love to but it's one of the most unrewarding industries known to man

like. you are expected to pump out far more work than is physically or mentally healthy for an amount of money that is nowhere near enough you can live off of. if you want a chance at being able to both work in a relatively comfortable position and for a livable wage you no longer do it through a traditional publisher. now the go-to is to publish online (mainly through webtoon which is incredibly restrictive in both format and content). and even if you do that art isn't something done for enjoyment anymore now it's done for popularity. you are up against thousands of other people and most of them are already big on at least one other platform. and yet at the same time everyone Has to follow the same format. Everyone has to do the same easy-on-the-eyes, two-panels-at-most scrolling format now. Everyone is told it's best if it's in full color and fully shaded. but the vast majority of people can't afford or don't have anyone interested in helping with coloring or inking or et cetera. so that means trying to do as much as you can in as little time as possible entirely alone with the assumption that you either 1. can even afford to do so 2. already have a job. and then even if you Do make a hit whether it was on your own terms or by the current formula. guess what! you still very much need to rely on things like patreon or comic festivals or doing more on the side.

comics as we know them were kicked off back throughout the 1800s and yet there's barely been any change. all comic publishers are either predatory, unwilling to pay, or both. if you want a chance at it being published traditionally you're most often gonna have to be somewhat known already and you're usually gonna have to be approached. there's No big platform that attracts new users for webcomic artists who want to do something other than a scrolling format anymore, it's mainly old users on deviantart and comicfury. crunch is normalized. low pay is normalized. i had professors in college who worked at marvel in its early years and instead of going 'i don't think it's okay that this is normalized' they mocked out that one wave of people who complained about the current state of things recently. it's so fundamentally normalized in all forms of visual art of course but especially comics that suffering as a result of doing what you love is okay and if anything encouraged. like! i could be wrong about my understanding of some things in this situation but that's stupid. that's fucking stupid. i don't think someone being able to do what they love for a living should be dependent on something as stupid as popularity and trend following especially when all of these companies are making tens of millions of dollars a year on average and barely giving the people that already work for them wiggle room
