So I watched the new Descendants movie and I have several thoughts but the important ones are the AU. (I've only seen the movies and read like two books so I'm ignoring characters I don't know LMAO)

Janus (son of Kaa, snake from Jungle Book), Virgil (son of Dr Faciliar, from Princess And The Frog), and Remus (son of Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas) are in a gang on the Isle. They have their own little nook and territory they defend, they steal and cheat to get their way, they live as best they can in the terrible conditions. Janus lies, Virgil steals, Remus fights. It's how they do.

The barrier gets taken down and they're quite hesitant to leave. Eventually they wander over to Auradon and get situated at the school. The dorm rooms are only fit for two people to a dorm but Janus still sneaks over to sleep near his gang anyway — he feels safest that way. They can't truly trust anyone yet.

The first person they meet is Logan (son of Belle and Beast) and brother to the king. He's a year younger and he doesn't mind much, advising people how he can and how he's told. He isn't intimidated by Remus' threats of violence and he sees through Janus' lies and manipulation so he befriends Virgil first. They're cool, Virgil likes space (it would peek through the clouds on the Isle sometimes) and Logan taught astronomy to him properly.

Roman (son of Cinderella and Prince Charming) comes along next, the less dickish brother of Chad (sorry chad grinds my gears) and the more honorable one. He's a bit.. unenthusiastic about the new VKs but he promised his mother he'd help them get settled in so he does try. He and Remus click and are immediately besties. They duel and fight and have a lot of fun doing it.

Patton (son of Alice from Alice in Wonderland) isn't actually the one who comes along last, as he's popped up now and then, but he does show up properly with the others later. Janus finds him funny to mess around with, but Patton makes it a game to find out his tricks. Turns out, Janus actually enjoys baking. You know who else does? Patton :D

The VKs have a hard time adjusting to the new school but they now have, ugh, friends to help them. Eventually they get used to it. Virgil starts returning things he instinctively steals, Janus gets a hold of his lying, Remus stops threatening everything that threatens his gang. They're all seriously still gang and they still make sure they can take care of themselves but otherwise :3 they can enjoy some Auradon stuff too (ignore Auradon lore though)

Anyway here's some "cringe" (no such thing) indulgence from my childhood :D

One thing I would change: I mean. I would rewrite a lot of the series but mainly I would wanna give Nya a more prominent and starring role early on. Let her have more Samurai X moments and quit putting her on the sidelines while the boys do things!!

Favorite ship? Canonically Pixane ngl. I love Jaya but Pixane is soulmate coded for me I break Jaya up at the drop of a hat for funsies I feel bad breaking up Pixane.

Do I have OCs? You're goddamn right I do I have wayyyyyy too many. I'm working on character sheets for the main ones now but until those are uploaded have a taste!

Nataly Chumsworth: Master of Love, half Serpentine, menace to society. If the name did not clue you in she's Pythor's daughter and they have. A relationship.

Roxie Andrews: Master of Peace, local stressed out mom friend, former student at Marty Oppenheimer's! Old friend of Cole's and someone i imagine Nya being besties with.

Jasmine Bucket/Julien: Master of Nature (secondary: Ice), engineer at Borg Industries, made before Bolobo I swear. Zane's half sister but neither has any clue about that yet

Jackie Fei: Master of Magic (I have a whole system set up for this), chronically tired and depressed but gets to have a glow-up, chaotic good incarnate. My favoritest little blorbo ngl

Hannah Stone: Master of Music (different from sound and again swear she was pre-S4), punk rock girl, Chen's former... student is not the right term. Embodiment of that one audio: "they got their weapon, I got cheated out of my childhood)

Kyle Stone: not an elemental master but a former member of Chen's cult kinda (born into it), instead of masking his trauma with anger like Hannah he masks it with bubbliness, chronic overprotective disease. He and Hannah aren't blood related but they're also the closest thing to family each other has

Master Twyla: Master of Light, the teacher of these fucking kids, trying her best to keep the memory of the former EMs alive. Bops her on the head this bad girl can fit soooooo much trauma she's trying to overcome in her, goddamn

Ivy Crest: Master of Wind except not fully until S5 (thanks Morro), Morro's bio daughter and Ronin's adopted daughter (bet you can't guess who she prefers), expert in forgery and shit at mechanics. She and Nya form a close bond in S5 and Nya continues to try and teach her mechanical stuff (it does not work)

Luna McCallister/Garmadon: Master of Dreams, long lost Garmadon daughter who?, big fucking nerd. I have no idea when she and Lloyd realize their related but it makes their interactions at the comic store beforehand a lot funnier (for reference: she is about 2 years older than him)

Jonathan Borg: heir to Borg Industries, curious about the supernatural elements of Ninjago, knows about something he probably shouldn't. His place is not fully figured out yet but I feel like he's gonna start wanting to prove more useful after S7 to mixed results, esp bc his sister is way cooler than him

Willow Whispernight: yeah check back later chief I am reworking her ENTIRE lore lmao. Currently also connected with nature in some way and Jasmine's step-sister

if nix is no longer sun's (Sasha's?) mom in canon, does she still exist? Does she still paint with him? Did she paint with the other khans children? Were nix and marigold apart of papa's advisers? Yeahh Nix isn't Sun's mom anymore but I'm probably gonna rework her to use somewhere else, im still workshopping her atm. Unfortunately she was just kinda part of my earlier story which was admittedly reductive and weak writing on my part and I will own up to that. The idea of this random cis woman "fixing" the New Khan remnants by berating them into Not being misogynists and taught them to be nice to children doesnt sit right we me any more, so now the Khans are a bit more autonomous in their development and Softing so don't need an outside force to come in and Show Them the way, if that makes sense? I hope I'm explaining why I didn't like my own writing choices anymore well anyway. I also wanted to go full ball into making Papa trans gender just as a little treat for me. I think he's already a very queer-coded character and his performance of masculinity kinda feeds into my idea of transness for him. I'm not sure if I can explain but it means something to me <3 Sun Min (who's Sun's dad was actually his og dad back when he was a tf2 oc) was just kinda a better fit for "guy who got that warlord pregnant" then Nix ever would be (sorry queen)

Anyway rambling about critising my own writing aside, Nix probably does still exist I just don't know what to do with her yet. I'd like her and her daughter Jasper to be involved in Sun's life still but just in a different role. I might revamp her and start calling her by what was her actual name which was Juliana.

She might paint with Sun or she might just teach him how to make dyes and pigments. I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep her school teacher side either so I'm not sure if she did with other kids, probably she did tho.

Nix was an advisor but that might be something I change, Marigold never was tho she was just a close friend of Papa's. Marigold to Sun is like an Aunt, she looked after Sun pretty often when he was growing up and he and Jessup were only a few months apart in age so they've always been kind of besties <3 Sun isn't as close with Chance tho, he always thought it was a little bossy (when really he was probably try to stop jessup getting into whatever shit you can imagine 7 year old jessup getting into)

"Calm Roshambo": ro puts on a cold/calculating exterior for most of the Lore Stuff(tm) but ro is soooooooo incredibly silly and loud and wound up half the time. ro also has some issues with anxiety; at least two videos have featured minecraft anxiety attacks (1, 2)

"Angry Mapicc": mapicc isnt really angry, just impulsive and violent. he for sure does get upset and is plenty willing to yell and be unhappy about things, but his most notable character traits (to me) are his impatience and, more importantly, how self assured he is. mapicc believes he has been just abt 100% in the right for the ENTIRETY of season 4 so far - if chat calls him evil he WILL challenge them directly. anything someone tries to argue is evil he will deny & have some reasoning for. (mapicc can be VERY persuasive because of this - even if hes talking out of his ass he says it so confidently that you go damn maybe hes right)

"Lawful Good ourple": at least for season 4, subz and vitalasy are definitely NOT lawful good. (To be clear, if we were to put lifesteal on an alignment chart, nobody would be lawful good. Maybe an argument could be made for Vitalasy + co at the end of season 3, but I'm not an expert there.) subz founded the eclipse federation with the goal of being evil to get revenge on people who were evil to him & since then they've gone through with a plan that planetlord yelled at them for because planet thought it was wrong. so like. they dont want to be the bad guys, and said as much to planet last night, but they know they're not good, they're just doing what they feel is necessary.

"Angry Subz": he likes to complain, he speaks roughly, and hes loud. that doesnt usually mean hes angry, and he sometimes has to backtrack and clarify to his chat (or even to his teammates) and say "I'm not angry just being loud" or "my bad I'm being too loud right now"

"Calm Vitalasy": next to Subz, Vitalasy does seem calm? And he usually kind of is, I guess? but I think that trying to fit him into the dynamic kind of ends up flattening a lot of the dynamic between him and Subz, if that makes sense. Like, yes yes this is a silly chart meme it's not that deep - but I do think it's important to mention that subz is noticeably less "angry" around vitalasy (at least compared to his interactions w/ his stream chat) so it doesnt entirely suit them?

like.. I do think you're not entirely wrong with the vibes being somewhat similar in different directions, and you've kinda got the basic framework here, I just think it's missing a little something (obviously, genesis frog, it's a. chart meme. 7 words total). example!! both duality duo (left side) and purple duo (right side) tend to sort of fall into the classic "straight man and funny man" dynamic when they're on streams together, but you'll notice that who performs which role will switch depending on their mood.

Ok I just FINALLY finished bojack horseman after taking a very long break from it cuz it was not good for my depression BUT!!! I'm gonna put everything under the cut for SPOILER REASONS but also PLEASE read the tags just in case!!! We're talking abt the mfckin CANON timeline I have for my self insert shits depressing as hell (also I hope I generally explained everything fjejcjdh bad at doing that smtimes)

I'm almost glad I'm not talking abt the Childhood friends au bc its SO softcore like wheres the angst bestie? But also damn. Why all the angst in the canon tl? Chill OUT /lh

Generally the canon tl follows the show pretty accurately, aside from the fact that IM there and a few things r obviously different

I met him in a bar during the 90s! It was one of those "Oh we're both actors! Pog." And we basically drank together and trauma-bonded. They quickly become good friends (It was funny, considering the first thing we said to eachother was "oh you look familiar" and "YOU'RE THAT GUY FROM THAT SHOW I WATCH!" Truly the start of a wonderful friendship.)

And, I basically stayed around him. The Whole Time- through Herb getting fired and both of our shows ending and various depressive episodes (on both ends), parent funerals and hallowern parties and benders and awful horrible shows that definitely should never be mentioned nor have been put on air.

And weird one night stands with eachother that never get brought up the next day (or at all for that matter) just to keep things from being weird.

So I've known him for awhile, and I've stuck around for awhile, basically a ride or die friend (with a tiny little crush that I'm not acknowledging) that's my role, the Yearning Best Friend- so cringe but it works out in the end.

I think, major event wise, everything still happened the same. It's right until S4 when things are, a little different? (Not by much though)

When he heads to his old family summer home he invites me to come with (I also didn't think itd be smart to leave him alone) and through that entire trip he told me about Horsin Around and his family and at a point a drunken rant abt New Mexico that neither of us remembered in the morning. (It was a bonding trip, definitely the start of Feelings too) we start dating in the middle of that season (specifically when we all got trapped underground, you confess a lot when you think you're going to die)

So naturally, S5 is different too, he's not dating Gina in that season, but everything still happens the same otherwise. (Of course I knew something was off the whole time, you don't stay friends with someone for several years and NOT notice when something's off, motherfucker wouldnt *talk* to me though, and when he did it was to tell me someone was trying to sabotage the show and of course you cant have two paranoid mfers under the same roof, they just end up fueling eachother until it's too late and something horrible happens)

And something horrible happened, and Diane told me about what she thought happened in New Mexico, and I'm thinking "I feel like I've heard this story before." And then Bojack tells me what happened in New Mexico and then he choked his co-star and hes going to rehab and everything is obviously too much and I tell him I can't visit of course, because theres a lot of information i need to process, but I'll still write and I'll still text and watch over the house while he's gone since I practically live there at this point but I cant see him rn.

And I didn't! Until he got out of rehab, of course and it was back to "Bojack and Jackson against the world!" And "Let's move! Go somewhere different get a change of scenery!" And we did. He got that job at the university and I! Stayed with him, ever the loyal boyfriend. (Until in getting calls from a reporter and suddenly we're trying to figure out what shitty thing he did before the reporter calls and Oh. It's about Sarah Lynn and Oh!! Thus is certainly new information I wasn't told about! Fuck.)

After the interview- the second one- it was...complicated. I didn't want to leave but i also recognized that i needed to. For now, to let him deal with the aftermath of his mistakes because if he came to me- and he did- he'd be looking for reassurances I couldn't give him. We got into a really bad argument, it was moreso implied that we weren't dating anymore, neither of us said it but we both walked away and that was the last time we spoke.

It's so funny that you asked abt The View From Halfway Down because I was literally just thinking about that episode the other day and if he would've called me and not Diane and honestly! Yea. He did! Tho he called me. Twice that day, once before, after he left Angela's house, and again before he got back in the pool- I picked up the first time but he was pretty much incomprehensible and I couldn't pick up the second time so when I called back and he didn't answer I was. Quick to panic. (I was right for being worried too, all things considered)

And then he went to jail. And we didn't see eachother again until PC's wedding (bonded a lot with her, during that break up period. It was hard y'know? But she got it. Also I was Helping Babysit with Todd, she was rlly making me rethink my opinion on adopting a kid)

We didn't start dating right away tho, but we did start hanging out again? So that was a bonus!
