Kat’s Character Overanalysis of Murasaki

I treat this guy like an oc so don’t be mean to me ok 💔 just my headcanons and personal observations!!!

Ok so I'm going to start with the basic stuff (i.e. inkipedia)

From 2015-2018(?) Murasaki was the drummer for the band Squid Squad. He was the youngest member of the group.

While this excerpt from Inkipedia may seem small, there are a lot of traits described here that can be further analyzed (if you have nothing better to do)

The Squid Research Lab describes him as rough around the edges.

The term "rough around the edges" is used to describe something that has small imperfections, but is generally good. When describing a person it can mean someone who is unsophisticated or impolite. In this instance, "rough around the edges" could be describing Murasaki's drumming skills as he's said to have potential, but he also needs some practice.

this characterization was probably made to resemble his appearance as well! (sea urchins don't have very smooth edges...)

2. Murasaki is referred to as a wild child.

A "wild child" is usually someone (likely a young person) who is headstrong, rebellious, and/or uncontrollable. To me, this info matches nicely with the impolite interpretation of the phrase "rough around the edges."

3. From here, it sort of goes on about his playing which I sort of addressed in the first point. Basically, he has a natural gift in drumming because he has a good sense of rhythm, and despite lacking in technique, he always tries his best.

4. He is prone to crying

The Squid Research Lab states that he could be caught crying during a drum solo which goes to show how much effort he puts into his playing :). I feel like this part tends to override his other traits in fan stuff (if he gets included at all). I personally view this as a subversive aspect of his personality. Normally he has an abrasive personality because of the rebelliousness and lack of manners, but he is also a sentimental person and his emotions are expressed through tears even if he isn’t sad (samee). Think of how urchins have a spiky hard external shell that hides soft uni inside of it ok...

5. Energetic

I know the energy think is probably referring to his playing style, but I picture him to be a fidgety person who doesn't like to stand still. I guess it matches with the wild child thing.

6. He's the youngest

Expains the previous behavior. rude + rebellious + more talent than practice. teenager.

Here is the original japanese text of the Squid Research Lab info on twitter. Yes, I know google translate isn't that accurate, but I think it's interesting and deepl says something similar as well.

7. Ignoring the strange grammar, Murasaki is additionally described as mischievous (やんちゃ?). Definition: playful in a naughty or teasing way or troublesome/irritating.

I guess this was translated into the wild child in the english version because I'm assuming the term in japanese refers to more childish behavior. I think the word mischievous is easier to understand though since I've never heard the term wild child before. Anyway, he's silly.

8. I sort of glossed over this in the english version but apparently he can take the lead when it matters most. In english, the phrasing kinda made this confusing. I thought they were just saying words lol. Anyway, this ties in with him trying his best while in the band + being compassionate/sentimental.

topic-adjacent kinda. I've seen people interpret this in a sort of sad way, but I interpret this as him being mischievous! I think he's walking towards them to scare them. The little star next to his head reminds me of the animal crossing mischief emote.

yeah this kinda repeats what I already said but here it says his playing fits well with Ichiya. I think that both of them are kinda similar. Both are sort of lacking in technique but make up for it in other areas. Both have ADHD (lying). To me, Murasaki is if an asshole turned out to be kind, and Ichiya is if a kind person turned out to be an asshole. #crazy

I have no idea what that means. Ok.

Cool means cool.

I don’t know if they mean edgy in the internet way because ???... Anyway, edgy can mean: 1. tense, nervous, or irritable, 2. trend setting, daring, or provocative. I think the word choice was for the sake of an urchin pun.

I think they meant to convey the second definition by saying hes cool and unconventional (I don't think it makes sense to say someone is cool and nervous in the same sentence). Kind of matches with being rough around the edges. I like to apply the first definition sometimes though. I like to stress him out.

information about his drum playing is information about his personality! this relates to his previously described energetic playing. I like how this sort of frames him as unusual compared to other drummers. It shows how his playing style relates to his character... energetic, headstrong, he can lead the way if necessary. all things previously stated.

Patrick is attracted to Kat at first glance. He loves goth, punk, and otherwise alternative looks — its inherent dissent from social norms intrigues him — so when he sees her dark eyeliner and clothes, he's set.

Patrick is not someone who cares for subtlety, at all, so he'll come onto Kat pretty quickly and aggressively. After making some demeaning catcalls to her in the hallways and private remarks to the gang, Patrick would either plop down at her lunch table or sit next to her in open-seating classrooms and firmly cement it as his seat (something Derry teachers wouldn't help with, because, "the quiet kid will help the rowdy kid behave, surely").

Would start off with a creepy pick-up line ("so, are you into what you look like you're into, sugar?") and eventually progress to random stuff that he gauges Kat's into, like post-punk music and dark subjects like true crime.

I think even for very dark-minded people, Patrick still isn't the most charming — flirting with a mouth full of cafeteria cheeseburger will never win you many ladies — so it would probably start pretty slowly and take some wearing down. With how guarded Kat is, Patrick would have to put effort into getting close to her, which would only make her more attractive to him. He'd start asking around about her and following her around town, specifically to the town record shop and thrift store.

After Patrick continued to make an effort and show genuine interest in Kat, conversations progressed into things more personal, like her interests and hobbies. He'd take her on surprisingly thoughtful dates for someone like Patrick, such as horror film showings and to smoke at the Barrens at night (though, proceed with caution, because... Patrick).

Patrick would never finalize or label the relationship — he's not that type of guy, sorry — but the Gang would definitely refer to her as his girlfriend, and it would be recognized by most as a relationship 2 – 3 months on.

He wouldn't have any qualms with immediately introducing Kat to the gang, at all. The boy does not care about any awkwardness and, anyway, would think it would be fun seeing how it goes. He likes to stir up drama, no joke.

Kat's first invitation to the gang is a smoking session at the Barrens, which goes... as expected, with Henry going nonverbal, Victor reacting how your typical stoner would, Patrick acting the same as normal (was he even smoking?), and Belch getting that glossy look in his eyes that precedes a sativa-induced panic attack.

They all like her, though!

Henry is a bit off-put by her appearance for the first month — sorry, but she's the girl he'd target for being different, considering he did at one point — but she'd grow on him, for sure. Surprisingly, if Kat called Henry out on bullshit, I feel like he'd have a lot more respect for her. Additionally, loyalty and honesty are some qualities that Henry likes in a person, even if he doesn't show it, so he'd warm up to Kat in his own Henry way...

Meaning he drunk-vents to her a lot. Like, a lot, a lot.

Belch would have a massive crush on Kat and has a hard time hiding it. He's very much into girls who are tough and can stand their own, and combined with Kat's looks, would feel very attracted to her after a couple conversations.

Victor would likely be one of her best friends in the group. Victor tends to really like forming friendships with walls-up, defensive types. He also has a similar music taste to Kat, being a big fan of Bauhaus and a budding fan of Siouxsie and the Banshees, and would trade records with you.

However, Victor doesn't like your relationship with Patrick at all. He likes Kat, and he hates Patrick, who continuously is a massive douche.

The guy loves to push people's buttons, and Kat's no exception. With how tough of an egg she was to crack, he knows she's got some baggage underneath, and routinely pushes her into stressful situations, whether it's making her entertain a crowd of people at a party, telling drama-hounds if she's talked shit about them, or putting you on the spot in front of the gang.

Unless Kat is willing to put up with that, there would definitely be some fighting in the relationship, though Patrick wouldn't take it that seriously as long as she was still entertaining him.

It's not all bad with him, though — their shared interests lead to a lot of good hangouts (and chemistry), and Kat can even hold theoretical and philosophical conversations about death and other topics with him, something a lot of people can't do with Patrick. He doesn't really take anyone's opinions on him seriously enough to share besides the random, offputting comment or "joke", so the fact he does it with Kat is impressive. While he doesn't exactly see her as a full-fledged person, he does recognize her as being interesting beyond being just someone he messes around with, and thinks her input on different topics is fascinating to hear.

Kat can expect a lot of... gifts... from Patrick, these including an old, banned mondo film from the '70s (?), a decently but not fully cleaned bird skull (??), and a necklace with a couple mismatching beads and a tooth of a mysterious origin (???).

For as much as Patrick gifts to her, though, he'd take. He'd end up stealing some of her custom-made jewelry and wearing it, TBH — he digs her style and finds it interesting how she makes things out of what otherwise would be deemed as trash.

Would overall not be the healthiest relationship, but still a pretty solid one, and not as disastrous as most relationships with Hockstetter.

Oh yeah I might as well post this here for the 2 people who follow me and aren't already in discords with me,

I'm doing this:

In an attempt to improve my art, I started out just doing it for the sake of drawing something almost every day but now I think I'm gonna save these for whenever I feel I've made an improvement. Each day I am doing a different OC and I'm trying to lean towards having each character in an outfit I wouldn't normally draw them in

#1 was done with Orpheus Valor from Paragons

He was pretty fun to draw because I don't do masc characters very often. Also doing him for the underwear post was good because my GM, Gracie, and I had previously joked about him having scars where top surgery scars would be and just fully not being trans (there are other trans characters in Paragons I feel like we get to do a little bit of queerbaiting) so he was mauled by a bear.

#2 was done with Rabbit Leporidae from Thyrasylo.

Rabbit is normally dressed in either a suit or a frilly dress despite the fact that her name stems from the fact that her original design was wearing a bunny suit. Her shirt is a gag stolen from Thrilling Intent, I think it's funny for the most powerful spellcaster in my world to be wearing a spelling bee shirt. This was also cool because I got to draw her tattoos. Neither of her previous tokens really showed them off much so I thought I could use this opportunity to draw them. They don't have any real significance as of right now but I might ascribe some to them later.

#3 is with Ivy Blackleaf from Thyrasylo

Ivy is very fun to draw, this prompt made me finally design a logo for her Mom's cafe. I think I made it a little too close to the Olive Garden logo. Otherwise this was a fairly straightforward one, I did get to practice expression a little bit.

#4 with Roxanne De'Rulo from Crescent King

Messy hair Roxie is really fun to draw. I forced myself to make this a full body to try and practice feet, I don't think they look all that great. Her hand is a little bit fucked up but I am glad that I drew it at all, practice is important. Otherwise the only thing of note with this one is that I lost the original TRIPWIRE band logo and Redbubble doesnt let you redownload your uploaded designs which kinda blows.

#5 with Jayden Valekrave from Paranoia and Evi Halloran from Macrocosmos

The first one with a backdrop. This one was also voted on by a whole 37 people who took time out of their day to vote on my silly little Google form. Evi is in the background because she was the runner up and I probably wouldn't draw her anywhere else. I also think I didn't do justice to all the people who voted for Jayden. I super didn't have a reference pulled up and I am not skilled enough to draw from my imagination yet. Jayden's halberd, Dawnbreaker, having sunglasses on is the best part of this image. She is so silly. I also started drawing the eyes without having lineart on them here. Idk how I like it, we'll have to see.

#6 with Vernidaius Yxerei from Decent Into Avernus

Compression kinda fucked this one up a bit, but the name of the game with this one was experimenting with brushes. I kinda tried to get some of the texture that I really love out of Jackson FrameDodge of The3rdWheel's work. Unfortunately I dont really know how to shade properly so it's kinda all over the place, and harder to see on the skin, oops. This one had a pose reference initially but the legs ended up being too difficult for me to do so I just sorta covered one of them. I also super forgot to draw Vermi's scales here. The line-less eyes are still something I'm on the fence about. I think this background is a good bit better than the previous one, the only part of the previous one that I really ended up liking is the clouds.

ok so I'm gonna answer for both Cassandra (because she's my favorite <3) and Sarah (because I've been thinking about her a lot lately; particularly with her friendship with Cass)

10. if they wear jewelry, what kind? do they prefer silver or gold? do they have a favorite gem?

ok so this is a me-thing, but because I don't wear jewelry, I never really think about what jewelry my ocs would wear

Cassandra:

so, I don't think Cass tends to wear much jewelry, in part because I'm projecting, but also because she thinks it would get in the way (since she tends to work with machinery etc). I think if she had like a normal childhood (that she didn't spend being trained), she would've pierced her eyebrow (like on her own, in the bathroom). sometimes I give her a bunch of ear piercings though

I don't think she has a preference towards silver or gold, but I tend to give her black or silver jewelry. I also don't think she has a favorite gem (but also don't know too many gems tbh)

Sarah:

she definitely wears quite a bit of jewelry. I think she owns a lot and tends to switch up which pieces she wears, but she definitely always has on some sort of fun earrings, and she wears the same necklace everyday (I haven't figured out the significance yet, though, oops). I don't think she has a preference either, towards silver or gold; I think she bases it on her outfit, but I tend to picture her in blues with silver jewelry

Sarah definitely has a favorite gem (or a couple favorites). one is alexandrite because it's her birthstone (she's a June birthday). I have a little guide up, and I'm trying to pick out which other ones she'd like. I'm thinking various opals, moonstone, and sapphire

17. how did they spend their summers/free time as a child?

Cassandra:

ughh I need to finish my post about Cass and Arriela for more context for this. anyway, generally, I don't think she really had "summers" since she was home-schooled (and very unorthodox-ly), but in the actual summer, she spent a lot of time with her cousins (Melia and Andrius) since that's when they'd visit. I also think she spent more time with Arriela then (because while they grew up together, Ela did actually go to school). in her free time, I think she read A LOT and spent time outdoors (either swimming or hiking)

Sarah:

Sarah was definitely a summer camp kid. she went to the same camp every year and eventually became a CIT and then an actual counselor. I also think her family would go on vacations and go camping over the summer. in her free time, I think she, like Cass, would go swimming because she grew up not far from the beach. she also did gymnastics and theater. oh! and she was in a band!

32. do they have any habits that aren't particularly self-destructive, just maybe odd?

Cassandra:

she literally makes the weirdest jokes, like refers to being horny as "feeling like a transformer" (based on that 'a transformer just busted' tumblr post). and if she's not speaking in weird/obscure references, she's speaking so cryptically (she's the oracle though, she can't help it)

oh! and her accent is fake. like her grandfather is Greek, but for a time he lived in the UK, so he started faking a British accent. and it's recognizably a British accent, but I think anyone who's actually British would know it was fake in an instant. and because he raised Cass, she picked up his accent. she still has a Greek accent, she just continues to fake the British accent

Sarah:

this isn't odd, per say, but she does that obnoxious theater kid thing where she just randomly breaks out into song. I'm not sure what other odd habits she has. for some reason, this question was the hardest. I think because I don't tend to focus on my ocs' smaller behaviors, so I'll have to start taking note of those

Headcanons for ocs?

headcanons? About MY OCS??? OH, HOW I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS DAY

(Also, quick question, does really count as headcanons when it's about your own oc's? I'm still fairly new to headcanons and other stuff like this-)

(Also Also, im writing these while waiting for a splatoon 3 match to start. Okay I'll stop stalling now.)

Kanaro is a BIG fan of anime!(wow, suprising I know :D) her favorite ones are My dress up darling and Inazuma eleven.

Charlotte sleep walks. She once sleep walked to the kitchen and somehow managed to make Mac and cheese. How did she do it? No one knows.

Loid has an older named Joseph (If you've seen my art then you'll know.) If we're talking about him in the slasher band AU, then they just bicker like normal siblings just with a bit more spice. If we're talking about in the non-AU world, then he doesn't even speak to his sibling anymore and they HATE and I mean HATE eachother. (to the point of murder)

Ace is a smoker, so ofcourse he would smell like cigarettes. However, he puts a TON of perfume or deodorant on himself because of that(and its a strong ass perfume too) his most used pack of cigars is Malboro.

Kanaro is interested in becoming an idol. So ofcourse when she searched for Idol animes, the first thing that popped up was oshi no ko. Ace quickly found out thankfully before our cinnamonroll could get traumatized-

The whole entire squad drinks and have different levels of not getting drunk.

Kanaro doesn't actually drink alcohol, she drinks spezi(a German drink which is REALLY good. Recommend it.) And tea.

Ace is the weakest one when drinking. Give him one shot of whiskey and he is gone. When he's drunk he's either knocked the F out, or he's very chilled out and wobbly, usually not even knowing what's happening half the time and just staring at the counter.

Charlotte comes in 2nd place but is very close to Loid. When she's drunk she starts dropping random ass facts about either her band mates or some random people she knows. (even her momma) "Yeah did you know Loids scared of spongebob? *hic*"

Loid is the strongest one. When he's drunk(which is Suprisingly common), he starts speaking French aggressively and starts speaking in a French accent. "Ohoho wouldn't gliding be FASTER?" He says as he proceededs to fall out of a window into a barrel.

Did any of the gang commit crimes? Ofcourse, almost all of them did.

Kanaro didn't commit any crimes(Logically, because how could this 9 year old child commit crimes :) )

Ace committed shoplifting

Charlotte committed driving while under the influence

Loid committed blackmail and scamming people on the internet(not sure exactly what it's called in a professional way-)

Our roommates here have a swear jar that gets filled up in a month. So who swears the most and who the least?

Charlotte swears the least. She either drops an F bomb because she gets pissed off or she hits her toe on a corner of a table (ouch)

Kanaro is the 2nd person to use the least of swear words but will say a few interesting words which she learned from Uncle Loid

Ace is uses a few more curse words then he'd like to admit. Most of the time he tries his best not to curse (especially when children are around, because what if they learn these heinous words? D:), so instead of saying Sh*t, he'll say "Aw man, that really ruffled my feathers :(" or something like that. But, if you read my short comic named *sailor mouth*, then you know when he gets pissed off he starts shooting cuss words like a mini gun lmao

I have a lot of specific hcs about them (mostly because I'm slowly stealing them to turn them into OCs for... something) so here's a little rundown in their story! (Let's hope it's actually little!!)

AKA long post weird AU you released a beast (me infodumping)

When they're tiny:

They met when they're 12 at their new school: Owynn moved because of bullying (the kids used to make fun of him bc he was tall/redhead/has heterocromia and even cut his hair, that's why he has it very short now) and Freddy moved to a whole new country (from Spain to wherever fhs happens). Freddy is Mexican while Owynn's dad is swedish (he was not born there)

They find eachother to be very weird but share many tastes and life events, like the bullying and missing a parent (Owynn is more direct and likes to insult his mom while Freddy doesn't talk abt it- Ow didn't even knew he had an adoptive dad).

They form a music duo for the spring event, since they were such good friends maybe they could work together well! Also Freddy acts kinda weird and sometimes forgets they have rehearsals after-hours but it doesn't matter bc he says sorry and he's cute!!

There's a whole drama with Owynn's parents in the middle of that but i wont bore you with that (unless you want me to)

Anyways the event happens Owynn can't come in time so Freddy goes alone and he wins but ow feels betrayed and blah blah blah they're enemies now and he hates Freddy (a 12 years old kid with a lot of mental troubles for that age)

Bc yes Fred is there but Owynn ofc didn't know, even if he actually talked very often with him too. In fact is kinda his fault Fred makes fun of Freddy so much (He's mad he lost his only best friend 🥺)

(Guess who remembers the rehearsals and the songs and owen cursing his mom)

Middle part where we watch Owynn go insane:

Literally. They kinda hate everyone but their dad now.

Moved school again, classmate with Abby and company actually! (Tho y'know abby she's... insane) so they don't talk. Also the Nightmares used to live closer to that school so they bullied him there until Owynn broke all of Onnie's teeth.

They meet Ttrap too: he's older in my AU (while ow is 15 he would be 17), he tries to get Owynn to therapy bc it's really fucking weird/sad he only talks abt Freddy or abt how much they dislike themself so. Yeah. He succeds and Owynn gets... to move schools again, yay!!

Ow starts developing schizoprenia, doesn't get the diagnosis until very later. (Prodomal stage/negative symptoms rn)

Also kinda starts discovering himself (being gay/nonbinary, doesn't really ditch the he/him pronouns until much later). Also dyes their hair purple

What would equal the 1st season of the series:

Freddy moves to the HS and says his funny discourse (qué? Que quién soy yo? 🤓) Who would've though a certain kid that hates him was there to see it and died right there.

After realizing they share classroom Owynn pressures Ttrap into changing them to another one, hides his freckles/dyes his hair a darker color/uses normal glasses to not be recognized. Explaining his absence from the 1st season /j

So we have time to look at Freddy. He's struggling, Fred is being annoying; they explode at the camp where Freddy bumps into Owen who tells him to fuck off and never talk to them bc they hate him and Freddy says: "who are you?" to them. :D

Fred facepalms and takes control of the body.

Owynn develops his plan to destroy Freddy's band or whatever. Also dyes his hair again.

2nd season!!

And Owynn is in full delusional mode. The whole 'boss' thing is Eak and Ttrap going along with them so they can decompress lol

He does his little introduction and dumb plans to sabotage that obviously don't work at the end but they're actually very good bc he... actually does know what he's doing (making usagi & loon have trouble/separate golden from the group/the whole Toys thing)

But eventually it doesn't matter/the spring event thing happens ; Owynn gets hit by a car and breaks their arm

The secret 3rd season // last school year

Owynn goes back to lay low, gets his schizophrenia diagnosis so therapy+meds!! Good for them!

Freddy gets the therapy+meds combo too! Fred is chilling now :]

So Freddy now attempts to talk to Owynn but they run away from him to not cause him trouble anymore. And that goes for a while until they talk it out: They'll get time to talk alone, but Freddy also wants them to meet the rest of his band so they can get friends, Owynn accepts; but isn't a fan lf the idea.

Eventually they fall in love again (fall? Ow never stopped liking him honestly) and they date. But it takes a very long time to get there but they're so very lovely <3

ALSO yes Fred and Owynn also fix their relationship, they're besties again <3

Snail Mail Wanted

|| ~ Millennial Bookworm & Fangirl ~ || I thought I'd try Tumblr because IG penpal community seems too intimidating. Everyone has such gorgeous letters and I am one very tired millennial who doesn't have time for artistic and scrapbooky-like envelopes and letters. In saying that, however, I do enjoy writing 10 page letters of anything and everything and nothing all in one. The type of letter where, as soon as you see my letter arrive in the mail, you know to put a cup of tea on and get settled in... and it's like I'm there talking your ear off. (Which is hilarious because I'm a massive introvert who doesn't do that in real life. Unless I'm comfortable enough in your presence and you'll get that crackhead goblin energy from me). I do want to say that I would prefer writing with someone between the ages of 23 - 35. I feel like that's a good age bracket to vibe with, as I certainly don't act my age. So if you're expecting a wise, old woman. That ain't me. Wise? No. Old? ...well being 30 does feel old. Obviously I want to state that: Please do not expect fancy letters, or scrapbook-y decorated letters. I don't have the time or budget to maintain that. I just miss simple, long(ish) handwritten letters. That's it. With the added surprise of a few photos sometimes. Whilst I live comfortably, I am still someone on a budget, so sending parcels is just not doable for me, so if that's also what you're expecting...please find someone else. I would love, love, LOVE to be able to send Parcels but it's just not financially feasible. Alright... I've also been wanting to get back into Animal Crossing to redo my Island but it feels too overwhelming to do that XD I used to do snail mail before Covid but...y'know...Covid happened and life got turned upside down for everyone. And then, I guess, 2023 became that 'healing back-to-normal' phase. So I guess...as we enter 2024, I think I'd like to have a penpal or two. I don't want to be part of anyone's collections. If you have five penpals already, please don't add me to the list. I'd like one or two because it feels like we're building a meaningful friendship, and I'd 100% like that. I would love to find a penpal from Scotland and Greece, but that's also not a necessary requirement. Anywhere is fine! Erm... I don't know what else to write? Since a lot of people have mixed feelings on Season 3 (maybe as much as season 4), it got me thinking about Dethklok's growth and how the main theme for the season is getting what they need, but necessarily what they want.

Skwis wants to find his biological father, he doesn't get that but instead he gets a consistent father figure in Tyrs.

Bill wants residuals but instead he gets some humble pie and Charles does try to make sure Murdertooth records is legit so Bill can fall back on that.

I already have an idea for I can rework Fertilityklok to work for my idea and Toki finds someone he didn't expect and gets what he needs for companionship outside the band with my OCs.

Nathan and Pickles aren't so clear cut for me on how to make their want vs need work tho.

Maybe Pickles WANTS to get clean but what needs are to be clean AND get the wheels turning on going no contact with his family.

I actually like Seaso 3 very much. It's a departure from what we had going with the 15 minute shows, for sure, but I thought a lot of the changes they made were for the better. Were some of the episodes stinkers? Sure. But some of them were also the best.

Anywho, each one of these are excellent assessments, and as always, I like your ideas for your own contributions to the story :D Over on my @dethkomic tutorials, I wrote: A character’s arc is what is going to happen to them versus what they want to happen to them.

Too, I think character arcs tend to be things that we might think we know the full extent of, but until the final conflict, the whole of the context in some of it might go unrealized. So I invite the possibility of additional information being revealed in each of Season 3's (many) character-driven episodes beyond everything you listed.

Dethsiduals: Murderface wants things to be easy, and he doesn't want to put the work in to reap the rewards of things being easy, later. In fact, when he does try that, he fails horribly. Pay attention to the fact that his character is aligned with laziness. This might come up in the finale.

Fatherklok: Skwisgaar wants it all, just like every modern girl!!! A family and a career as a megastar! Of course, when he tries to find that family, he comes to find the parts of him that are a megastar have been left unfulfilled. Pay attention to the fact that his character is aligned with being god-like (or... more than like... maybe, god-is?)

Fertilityklok: Toki too, wants to dabble in normal life and raise a family of his own. This episode doesn't quite fit the run-down here, because despite it being Toki's episode, it just seems like a rehash of Fatherklok in a way (which, in its own right is true to the canon -- stops copies me), and because I'm not working on the show, I can't tell you if anything in it is especially key to Toki's arc. I think you're better off looking at Dethdad for things to pay attention to with Toki, specifically, in regard to the finale.

Rehabklok: Pickles is forced to get clean, and that whole process goes as horribly as expected. In the end, it's shown that he's got as much on the ball, if not more, while drunk and high as he does while sober. Pay attention to the fact that his character is aligned with ... for lack of a better term... just dumb luck?

As I said -- not working on the show, so I can't say for sure, but coming from a writer's perspective, the "gift" of 30-minute episodes in the third season would have been ideal times to really explore some end-game clues with each character. It'll be interesting to see how things turn out..!

HAPPY TWO YEARS WTF

hey. so. hi. it's been two years since I officially gave rackam a perpetuity ring in gbf and since I'm Very Normal about him, I'm celebrating!

Enjoy this fic, featuring two of my friends' granblue OCs and a whole lotta fluff <3 (ignore the fact that our anniversary was the 24th and I’m posting this on the 25th)

It wasn't supposed to go like this, Mullin mused to themself, watching their husband walk around the room. No, not really. We weren't destined for anything, yet…

They lock eyes with Rackam, who, from across the room, throws them a reassuring smile and a wink. Since it was their anniversary, Rackam had deigned to wear a nicer suit - that is, something nicer than what he would usually wear. Mullin hadn’t expected it, so it was a, uh… - the captain tried not to stare at the muscles in his back - it was a nice surprise, to say the least. Mullin couldn’t help but smile back at Rackam.

…Yet we ended up here, didn't we? The captain finishes their thoughts, taking a drink from the cocktail that was in their hands. Ladiva's bar - Raduga - was always busy on an evening, but this was special. Mullin continued to watch the crew members as they flitted about, memories resurfacing.

Six months ago…

Mullin walked about the woods on the island of Zinkenstill, their home, and current lodgings for the night. The Grandcypher crew was between missions - both a welcome blessing… and a curse. Mullin was currently lost in their thoughts on their upcoming anniversary, with absolutely nothing in mind.

The captain, usually so stoic, was lost. Their anniversary with Rackam was quickly approaching, and they wanted to do something nice for him. Mullin had been lost in thought for a while now, wandering aimlessly around the forest to try and clear their head.

"Boo!"

“What the-“ Mullin nearly jumped out of their skin, quickly drawing their sword from its hilt. A figure had popped out of the bushes just ahead of Mullin - ah. It was Devi. They resheathed their sword, peering down at the small primal beast. Devi’s hair was long, tangled with the fall leaves from the bushes. Mullin sighed and began picking a few pieces out of her hair.

“Hey, Devi. What’re you doing here?”

Devi, who was pouting at Mullin messing with her hair, brightened up: “I’m here to help you!”

“Help me?” Mullin said, a little skeptical.

“Yep! You’re stressed about things again, aren’t ya?” Devi replied, shaking her head free from Mullin’s careful fingers. “I can tell. You were up all night last night, and didn’t even nag Gran and Djeeta about their bedtimes.”

Mullin huffed and crossed their arms. “They’re adults, they can take care of themselves. Besides, you know I have insomnia. It’s not like I’d be getting any sleep if I wasn’t stressed.”

“Yeah, I guess…” There was a mischievous twinkle in Devi’s eyes. “Buuut, if you weren’t stressed, you definitely wouldn’t have turned down Rackam’s request last night.”

“Okaaay, that’s enough out of you!” Mullin said, their ears turning pink. “Our anniversary is coming up, that’s all.”

Devi laughed and the two continued along their walk, discussing ideas for the upcoming event. Mullin did, however, get sleep that night.

One year ago…

“‘Congrats, Mew.” Azazel said, placing a gift into Mullin’s hands. “Surprised it’s been a year already.”

Mullin looked up at the Draph - something that they were used to, after all this time - and smiled.

“Thanks, Zazzy.”

“When will you drop that nickname…?” Azazel grumbled a little to himself, but Mullin was busying themself with opening the present. It was a ring, a golden band with an etching on the inside. Mullin peered at it closer, and nearly dropped it.

“Azazel! What is this?”

“…’s yours. It was given to me by my father and… you can give it to Rackam.”

“Azazel, I can’t— this is too much,” Mullin said, cradling the ring in their palm. “Besides, why would I give it to Rackam?”

“Aren’t ya getting married?” Azazel said, effortlessly, like it wasn’t a huge decision for him.

Mullin nearly dropped the ring again, as if it was too hot to the touch: “Azazel!”

“Quit yellin’ my name, Mew…” The older captain grumbled again, but patted Mullin’s head. “You know when it’ll be a good time. Promise.”

Two years ago…

It was a night really like any other. The cool autumn breeze blew across the deck of the Grandcypher once more, a signal of the turning seasons. Mullin leaned across the railing of the airship, inhaling a deep breath, trying to calm their nerves. It had been a little over a year since they began their relationship, but it didn’t mean their nerves were calmed.

They turned the ring box over and over in their hands, a nervous tick that had recently developed. Mullin could practically hear Djeeta’s words in their head now, like “If you don’t do it now, it’ll never happen!” and “You’ll be more surprised than you think,” whatever that meant. They straightened out their suit, in an attempt to look more nonchalant, when they heard approaching footsteps.

“Woah, is tonight my lucky night or somethin’?” Rackam said, sneaking an arm around Mullin’s waist. The captain slid the ring box into their pocket, hoping he hadn’t noticed. Mullin shook their head, a shy smile creeping onto their face.

“Mm, it depends. Do you like the outfit?” Mullin turned to fully look at Rackam, but they couldn’t finish any of their thoughts - Rackam was also wearing a suit, one that was a deep blue color. It nearly took their breath away, but Mullin held their composure.

They were face to face now, noses practically touching. Rackam’s hand was still on Mullin’s waist; it squeezed ever-so-slightly. Despite being together for so long, everything always felt new. Mullin could feel their hands shake from their nerves.

“I certainly do feel a way about the outfit, if that’s what you’re meanin’.” Rackam said, a teasing tone to his voice. Mullin laughed, moving their hand to his chest.

“And I feel a way about your suit, if that makes you feel any better. What’s the reason for dressing up?”

There was then a distinct shift in the air as Mullin asked the question. Rackam seemed to stiffen; Mullin’s hands shook a bit harder.

“A-Ah, well…”

“It’s okay, really,” Mullin continued, trying to dissipate the tension, “There doesn’t have to be a reason, right? Just a night where we… we both dress up nice and…”

The captain trailed off, distinctly aware of everything around them. Oh, oh no. Did I mess up? Does he know? He’s not saying anything… maybe I should just ask? But what if he says no?

“…And here I was, thinkin’ I could sweep you off your feet for once.” Rackam said, quietly. “But it seems like we were both thinking the same thing, weren’t we?”

…So we’re just both in love. Mullin thought, visibly relaxing: “You figured it out?”

“Well…” Rackam began.

“Wait- no! Let me.” Mullin interjected, taking a step back. “Rackam…”

“Yes, captain?”

There it was. That reverent devotion in his voice that, for the longest time, Mullin could never place. Now they could; it felt like coming home. It felt like belonging somewhere, to someone. They slowly got down on one knee, hands still trembling:

“Will you marry me?”

Rackam smiled, then proceeded to also get on one knee, like something out of a play they had watched years ago: “Only if you marry me.”

The captain smiled at the helmsman. They didn’t have to reply; the other knew the answer.

Yes. A thousand times, yes. I’ll stay by your side.

Present Day…

"Now what's got you all zoned out, captain?" The nickname of many years brings Mullin back from their thoughts. Rackam, who had spotted Mullin at the bar, had walked over at some point without them noticing.

"Oh, helmsman," Mullin replies in kind, the familiar word falling from their mouth, "I was just thinking about… us."

"Us?" Rackam quirks a brow, a small smile playing on his lips. Mullin tries not to stare.

"Mhm. How many years has it been now…?"

"Oh, don't give me that. You made all that fuss to give me something nice for our two year anniversary and now you're tellin' me you don't remember?" Rackam says, leaning in closer to occupy Mullin's space. They laugh and take another sip from their long-abandoned cocktail.

It was Rackam's turn to try and not stare as the liquid slipped past their lips. He clears his throat and glances away.

"I'm only teasing, of course. I remember. I remember asking you as if it was only yesterday." Mullin finally replies, holding their hand (and wedding ring) up to the dim light.

"It really should've been the other way around, shouldn't it?" Rackam is leaning against the bar counter now, facing the slowly disappearing crowd.

"Mm, what difference does it make? We're happy and not…" Mullin trails off, suddenly a little embarrassed. "Well. We're not avoiding anything anymore."

"'Avoiding anything', huh…" Rackam muses, stealing another glance over at Mullin. He had been watching them the entire night, unsure of how to approach the idea of… well, making their party a bit more private. Mullin's outfit left little to his imagination, and he was damned if he would not take advantage.

Brushing away that thought, Rackam continued to look over at Mullin. Their hair was tied into a neat bun, a few stray lavender strands rebelling against the hairpins. The helmsman, now not shy in his affections, reached over and tucked it behind their ears.

As he did so, he watched as Mullin's ears turned slightly pink whenever he touched them. You would think they would be used to it by now, Rackam thought, relishing in the idea that the captain - his captain - still got flustered around him. Gods, they're adorable.

"Rackam…?" Mullin's voice broke his thoughts. Rackam had unknowingly left his hand along their ear, his fingers tracing the shape.

"Ah- sorry." He pulled his hand away, but not missing the red flush that had spilled onto Mullin's cheeks and nose.

"It's quite alright." They replied, finishing their drink. There were now lipstick marks on the glass. "It looks like the party is dwindling. Shall we go?"

Mullin stood up, their heels clicking against the floor. Their dress shifted as they did so, one of the shoulder straps beginning to slide down. Rackam nodded, moving to stand next to them - for extra measure, he placed his hand on the small of their back.

"I'd be honored, Captain." He said, his voice low.

1. What do you do irl?

- I'm currently a biology student, intending to specialize in birds.

2. What are your favorite BoB characters?

- Webster, closely followed by Roe, Liebgott and Malarkey.

3. Do you mind receiving messages or asks?

- Not at all, i actually would appreciate a lot being able to make new friends!

4. Why do you have furry OCs?

- They actually didn't start this way. Their species was just a normal animal, but then I wanted to play a bit more with stuff only humans can do (reads: grab things) and settled in half-feral/half-furry.

5. Why do their names/powers looks similar to [insert thing]?

- Because they are old. A few years old at that, and at the time I didn't know how to make my own ocs so I just did fanfic. The thing is that as I got older and better, their names stuck and I couldn't find it in me to change. Nowadays they are their own characters sepparated from where they came from. I do aknowledge similarities and give credit where it's due, because my Universe is an amalgamation of things I loved and made a significant impact in my life.

6. Are you a furry?

- I don't consider myself a furry, but my OCs are anthropomorphic animals of an original species. Feel free to ask about them, I just ask kindly that you do not spread hate towards me because of it; I'm not here to fight and I do love my characters.

2009 on youtube was a wild west. anybody remember youtube streams? not, like, Youtube Gaming, i mean youtube used to have an official built-in version of rabb.it/hyperbeam/etc. like you could just.. browse rooms and join them and chat with people while playing videos

that was how i met my longest-running rp group. there was a whole group of, like, gimmick accounts of "i'm This Character and i'm going to comment on videos in-character! also we have a stream room where everybody hangs out :3" and my long-time friend ran one of those for Ninten. and i made an oc and made her a youtube account (which i dont think i have access to anymore, agh) and joined the stream and would rp with everybody

and i met. so many people through that. and also it was a whole nest of drama which ended in me being losing contact with basically everybody from that era except for One Person i have friended on discord and dont talk to because we're chronically awkward and i was a walking disaster when i was 13

(wait oh my god they were ALSO part of Contact. their character made it into both fic attempts, even. i dont think we're tumblr mutuals anymore since we remade though ahaheh ;;)

um. anyway. the whole.. origin.. of KL was that whenever somebody was inappropriate in chat or played a Bad Video or changed the background to Something NSFW (because anybody in the stream could upload an image url to change the page background!!) my response would be

IMMAKUROUSU: you DARE bring [thing] into my lair?! you must DIE

so when the group splintered and my corner of the squad made our own stream room, eventually it got named Kurousu's Lair

..anyway, this was where the rp that i fanfic-ified into Contact happened. in a youtube stream chat. one of the IAms was a big Homeworld fan and was doing a villain arc with his guy who was like, the leader of the Hiigaran Empire and friends with Ninten before he got possessed or something, and so he set up a rp where earth got sieged by the hiigarans and a handful of survivors banded together to try and stop Jaraci before humanity was completely wiped out

and so that guy, who also roleplayed the other main protag Elohim, uploaded a video that was his character's theme song and it had a bunch of Homeworld concept art and space photos and stuff and gave us the annotation link so we could put funny speech bubbles on it of ellis yelling and being very normal about everything

all of that is long gone now. the only bits of that era that remain are me telling stories like this, some ocs, some accounts, and that video.

(i remember this specific image being, like, contextualized as them maybe stealing one of the hiigaran ships? and ellis yelling at elohim over it. my memory is basically gone past that though, and the annotations have been wiped for a decade by now.)
