i'm both excited and nervous to get lorna in xmen 97 tbh.

on one hand, LORNA!!! i love lorna! and this is our chance to finally get a non-toxic dadneto where he isn't a shitty father to his three kids. (plus pietro and wanda are still his kids in this universe so...)

on the other hand, she's back in x-factor. which yeah, it's the 90s, and x-factor was going in the og animated series. but especially with ANOTHER xf series going on RIGHT NOW where she and havok are stuck together (i haven't read it lmk if they aren't a couple and i'll consider it) it's just... tiring. plus in the og she didn't show up all too much and when she did she had no personality.

i do wanna stay optimistic tho!!! 97 blew me away with actually being good for a disney project, and i want to cross my fingers and say beau demayo has it covered. i heard rumors he was fired but he's still posting on instagram like he's working on it so... idk?

Hi! I absolutely love your fic Misfortune, and I’d love to hear more about the universe surrounding it! I’ve always been curious about the dynamic that was hinted at with Erik, Pietro and Luna, from what we saw it seemed very nuanced!!

I'd really like to start by saying that I'm so glad Misfortune resonated with you! It's tied for my favorite work I did for House of Dadneto 2024, and I hope that if there's a 2025 event, I'll be able to live up to my work in 2024. I also want to say that I adore A Quiet and Starry Place and am excited for any upcoming chapters!

Within Misfortune, I tried to capture the idea of people's words, actions, and beliefs not completely coinciding. Whether it be Wanda claiming not to care about Erik outside his relationship with Pietro while still visiting him (albeit on the astral plane) or Erik denying that Luna's birth and humanity has any impact on him, while joining the X-Men for that very reason. I also tried to show the breakdown of communication within the family unit, and how that only leads to more pain.

When Pietro got married to Crystal, Erik wasn't there. He never truly got an answer as to why, though it was mainly due to Erik being a fugitive after his failed rebellion after the attempted assassination of Charles Xavier. Crystal's pregnancy was announced soon after the wedding, and Erik seemed to be excited at the prospect of being a grandfather again. He gets along with Crystal, although he only visits twice during the pregnancy so Pietro and Crystal don't get in trouble for meeting with a fugitive. Even though Crystal is royalty, he doesn't want to risk anything.

Pietro wants Erik to be proud of him, he wants to have a good relationship with him. To Pietro, having a relationship with Erik and considering him his father alongside Django is both possible and okay. He considers Django his father, and Erik as his father as well, one does not cancel out the other. Wanda has a harder time reconciling the two, so she uses Pietro as an excuse to get closer to Erik, as she doesn't want to betray Django, Marya or Magda. That's one of the reasons he still hasn't met Billy or Tommy. That and the fact Wanda's afraid they'll get hurt if anyone finds out about their relationship to Erik.

When Luna is born, and born human, Pietro is afraid.

He's heard what people say about his father, and seen the things his father has said and done when it comes to coexistence with humans. He doesn't think he'll harm Luna, but he thinks that he'll ignore her, and that he'll pretend that both she, and he, don't exist. Crystal encourages him to tell Erik about his doubts and fears, but he doesn't, he only tells him his daughter is born human.

Truthfully, Erik never considered this.

He figured she'd either be born mutant or inhuman, and either one was fine with him. But to be baseline? That wasn't a possibility.

Pietro waited to tell him until he was already holding Luna, but the second she was placed into his arms, Erik loved her. He saw his own eyes-the eyes of his son- staring back up at him, and blonde hair that's a perfect mix of that of her mother and of her father. She was perfect, and he'd do anything to make the world safer for her.

But then, Pietro fearfully told him she's human. Only a moment later he took her back, afraid of what Erik might say. While Erik's loved many humans, that's not what he's known for.

His granddaughter will grow up hearing all about how Magneto fought against the humans, and she'll think that he doesn't love her. He does love her, but at the same time, she's human. He can't really reconcile the idea of his granddaughter being a human. She just can't be, yet she is.

While he doesn't believe in the possibility of true human-mutant coexistence, he does believe in her; and making the world safer so that Tommy, Billy, and Luna Maximoff can grow up unafraid.

He couldn't live with himself if she was afraid of him. He can't live with himself while his son is afraid of him.

He would destroy the world at the drop of a hat, but he'd keep it safe for his grandchildren. Human and mutant alike. He'll try coexistence if only to make Luna happy. It doesn't mean he won't fight for mutants with the same vigor he always did, it just means he'll try to live alongside the humans and advocate for peace.

He'll try it, just as he'll keep his promise to an old friend.

So, he packs up his meager belongings, and joins the X-Men. Not only for Charles, but for his children and grandchildren too. Perhaps this way he can prove to his son, his granddaughter and even himself that he hasn't already damaged his relationships beyond repair. He remains aware that every move he makes is being monitored, not only by the UN, but by his son too.

When word reaches Pietro that his father has joined the X-Men and has been saving humans and mutants alike, he sends him a gift. A way to let him know he still loves his father, and wants to maintain their relationship. Because Erik hasn't talked through any of this with him, he doesn't know how his father feels about Luna, or if joining the X-Men has any correlation at all. A few days later, Wanda decides to visit Erik in the astral plane.

As for the gift, I have my own opinion on what's inside; but I worry that whatever answer I give won't live up to what the individual reader thinks is inside. If you want to know what I originally wrote to be in it before letting it be ambiguous, let me know, and I'll reveal it and it's significance to Pietro as a person.

I hope this in-depth examination of character motives makes sense, and thank you for reading this long! I've always found Magneto to be a very interesting character, so I knew I wanted to do a character study to open House of Dadneto. In fact, this was the third fic I wrote for the event, but the first I posted. I had already written Polaris and Acceleration, Tangential Speed and the Practicality of Fatherhood when I started planning out Misfortune!

I've also considered following more of the X-Men 97 plot through the lens of this AU, but I'm not sure if I'll end up doing it or not. I have plenty of ideas when it come to Episodes 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10.

Okay, so, in regards to how I got the idea, I had gotten into Iron Dad after I saw Infinity War with my ex-boyfriend not too long before Endgame came out, and after I saw THE HUG in Endgame, I was even more hooked. So of course I got sucked into the Iron Dad tag on Tumblr and fanfiction. And I think I was scrolling through Tumblr one day and saw a post talking about how cool it would've been to have a limited series (it had to have been when Wandavision and Falcon and Winter Soldier were announced or something, I don't remember) centering around Tony and Peter and have it take place between Homecoming and Infinity War. And I was in love with the idea because I loved the idea of getting more Iron Dad content and having RDJ come back as Tony and really exploring how Tony and Peter went from that awkward not-a-hug in Homecoming to Peter gripping onto Tony like a lifeline in Infinity War. Although, I knew it would be close to impossible, so...I think I pretty much decided I would try to tackle that concept but of course as fanfiction.

I did some researching in regards to analyses about the relationship and the characters and the timeline of that 2-year-gap between Homecoming and Infinity War and saw that it worked. I had read a Big Time Rush fic called When We Were Young and was already working on a fic for my OC called The First 21 Years of Grey Bergman. So I was already familiar with this concept of each chapter taking place over the course of a certain period of time. I planned it out in my Notes app in my phone and began to write it. Thus on June 27, 2019, I posted the first chapter of The Many Adventures of Iron Dad and Spider Son on FF.net and then on AO3 as well in February 2020. Also, as a bonus, I got the idea for the title from The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh. I have no shame! LOL! So, yeah, that's pretty much what inspired me to write it.

As for plots and details I haven't been able to add but would like to, ooooo, that's a good question. I do have a few!

I would love to show more of Tony and Peter training as heroes together. In a recent chapter, I have them agree to train more together as Iron Man and Spider-Man for when the aliens would come back.

Another idea I had is Tony and Peter being trapped in a freezer together. I got that idea from the show Castle. So, if I can find a way to make that happen, I would love to do that.

I also would love to do a chapter where Peter is so distraught because he wasn't able to save someone and have Tony comfort him. I guess, kind of like what you did for Dadneto, bestie.

OH! I would also love to squeeze in doing a scene similar to Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man where he saves a kid and unmasks himself to help the kid feel more comfortable.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head for now, but I'm really excited to get back to continuing Many Adventures, especially during our writing sessions. But the fics are on a rotation, and I'm sticking with it to help my sanity, lol! Thanks so much for asking, bestie! LOVE YOU!!!!

Some update: Aside from getting my brain roasted by uni, I'm working hard on a joint project with @fouralignments - A long Apocalypse AU comic with dadneto which will probably be my next big fancomic work. It'll probably take at least an year to finish so we're preparing a lot in prior, and plenty of angst is in it too so I'm excited. I hope I can start the first chapter this year- for now I made some concept art for Peter.

hi fouralignments! This is for your post about writer's block. I couldn’t think of any prompts, but I have a few questions that may somewhat help with writer’s block a little(?) (feel free to pick and choose if these don’t sound interesting)

1) what's your favorite Dadneto headcanon and why?

2) which xmen-related essay of yours is your favorite? Which was the most fun to write, and which was the hardest? Any cool/fun/weird/interesting things you learned while writing them?

3) How did Peter find out Erik is his dad, and what was his gut reaction to it (anger/shock/sadness/etc)? Somewhat related, do you think his mom ever learned about the Pentagon?

I’m really excited about seeing how Blessed by Khonshu, My Son Comes Back to Me goes! I’d never considered the (potential) father-son dynamic between En Sabah Nur and Peter before you mentioned it, and now I can’t believe the movies didn’t think of it, especially since family is a HUGE theme in the movie! It would be so interesting to see Peter, rather than seek out Erik, instead fill the father-figure role with another (more sinister) being like Apocalypse. I’m curious to see how far Peter will go once he’s controlled by En Sabah Nur, and if he does do anything villainous, how he’ll deal with the guilt after he’s free.

My fav headcanon is Dadneto, Challah, and Babka. Its one of the first headcanon that I wrote and at the time there weren't a lot of Jewish headcanons and the fandom was smaller back then, my blog wasn't that popular

2. the essay DOFP Makes Erik’s Journey in First Class Even More Tragic was my fav to write. Just Erik he's been through so much and has had so much tragedy in his life. The hardest essay for me to write is Peter and Kosher and Disneyization and De-Radicalization of X-Men, which have both been siting in my drafts since Feb of 2021. For the Disneyfication it may turned into two separate essay, that goes into the polices of the X-Men movies compared to the MCU and of course DOFP and sentinels and Ultron. Its a matter of just focusing and just sitting down and writing them.

And thank you for your excitement for Blessed by Khonshu, My Son Comes Back to Me. I think at this point the fandom knows how bloody long it takes me to write. Well someone has to do first and who know it might start a thing from within the Dadneto fandom. But I will say this the nature of his brainwashing will change since chapter 1. Its very much the case of Charles/Erik/Peter all contributing in different ways to the degradation of their ties to one another, thus giving En Sabah Nur the opportunity to swoop in and offer something better to Peter and be that father figure that he wants. En Sabah Nur is the bond destroyer and he know how to break Peter just by talking.

En Sabah Nur is just an interesting villain to write and in the wider context of the story he presents a challenge. He's an outside-context problem that no sees coming and nobody even considers a possibility. But its also left me in a writing dilemma to include Wakanda, which is a bit more interventionist in the region and even the US and Soviet Union gave even them a wide birth; so they are the only one who know the true threat level of En Sabah Nur, but they have their own agenda. However, I really want this story to be a character drama and that's where all the tension comes from. Because Erik and Charles do not give a shit about US, Soviet Union, Wakanda or even Raven's agendas; all they care about is getting their son back. But it does raise the stakes and tension from a story POV.

Here, let me dump my AHS Apocalypse thoughts on you. I really tried to keep it short, I swear.

What an exciting start! I thought this would be about averting an apocalypse that we'd never actually get to see (sorta like The X-Files did and I'm still grumpy about).

Finally making use of the pierced ears! Not to be shallow, but my god, I could look at the Aesthetically Pleasing Boy all day.

Aw, I was hoping the news broadcast would end with the Turner Doomsday Video.

Only his family called him Pietro, and even then, Wanda was the only one who still called him it on a regular basis. Hello everyone! I've had this fic ready for months now and I'm so excited to finally be sharing it with you for the @house-of-dadneto 2024!! Thank you to all my besties who supported me along the way!! Love you guys!

Please be warned that this fic does include descriptions of blood, implied gore, and a character recalling a minor's death.

Summary:

Normally if Peter wanted space, Erik wouldn’t hesitate to respect it. He was a grown man after all. He didn’t need Erik as a father in the same way Nina had. But standing amidst a minefield of bloodied clothes and held away from his wounded child by a mere wooden door, instinct overthrew every other thought as Erik twisted his hand and unlocked the door with his powers, nearly crushing the mechanism in the process. Apologies could be made later. But for now, Erik would rather face Peter’s wrath than face his grave. As the door flew open with a forceful magnetic shove, Erik felt his heart stutter at the sight of his son staring back at him with stunned, tearful eyes, stripped down to his boxers and absolutely covered in blood. It was everywhere. On Peter’s hands, painted across his face, stained into his chest, setting into his hair- it was impossible to tell where it began or ended. “Oh God- Peter…” Erik breathed in horror. Tears spilled over his son’s cheeks, cutting through the bloodstains on his skin like rivers, before he answered in a shattered whisper, “Dad…” ~~~ Or, Erik helps Peter through the aftermath of a failed mission.

Hello and welcome to the House of Dadneto 2024!

I am extremely excited to announce the very first House of Dadneto event, a month-long fan creation challenge with a focus on Magneto and his (many) children! The event runs throughout the entirely of June 2024, and includes 15 main prompts, 15 alternate prompts, and an extra 10 prompts designed for editors! You can check out the whole list of prompts here!

All fanwork mediums are welcome (fics, art, animations, edits etc.) and you can complete as many or as few prompts as you would like, though there are prizes for those who complete either 15 or 30 prompts by the end of the month! Check out the rules here for information on how to participate, how to qualify for prizes, and any other questions you might have!
