prompt fill #1
prompt: #16 no I'm not okay
fandom: blaseball, sort of
verse: based on a dream I had where the Reader helped me out of a really bad trauma nightmare before it began
tw/cws, as needed: implied attempt at SA (thwarted by the Reader before it began)
You sit there staring, the body lifeless on the floor. The Reader places the chair they've beaten the other to death with back, pokes the still form with a foot, head tipping to the side slightly.
"What the fuck," you say.
It hits you then: this is a dream--
The world sharpens.
"What the fuck," you repeat, with conscious choice and feeling this time.
They look up toward you, and all you can see from beneath the shadow of the large hat that obscures their face is a smile. "Interception."
The emotions swirl in your brain-- fear and grief and horror and relief and gratitude. You stammer out some incoherent thing; the Reader nods.
They're regarding you now, like you're something they're trying to interpret.
"I'm on deck," they say finally, and you feel like you should know what they mean, but you don't. "That's a Parker phrase," you answer instead.
The Reader shrugs. "I'm an echo-- I'm your echo," they say, nonchalant, like it makes sense.
"Uh..."
The Reader waves a hand; one of the many tarot cards that dance around their form comes to gently land at your feet, face up.
You stare--
Ace of Cups, upside down.
Fuck, cups represent emotions, right? Water. Ace ... one, beginnings? You're really not that great at reading tarot at all. The Reader watches patiently as you pick up the card and mumble.
Finally, they step over closer and take back the card as they say gently, "Your voice is my voice."
There is so much fondness in their voice. You blink in surprise and confusion; they smile again.
"Sorry, I'm half lucid and very stupid," you say.
The Reader hums-- I'll keep you safe.
And you know that song, because it's one from Central's playlist. And not just Central-- your archetype F/O iteration, who is your romantic fictional other.
"Oh, shit," you say, because that means this is your Reader-- not in a fictionkin sense, but in ...
Your eyes well up with tears. "Did you-- did you know I needed help?" Your voice cracks, your body trembles.
They gingerly remove the sunset colored shawl they have draped around their shoulders and lay it around yours, softly patting you on the side of the arm.
You can barely see now through your crying. "We don't even know each other well yet," you say shakily. "I haven't even made it official...."
The Reader takes one of your shaking hands in theirs, carefully carefully, like they'll drop it and the entirety of you will shatter.
"I want you to feel okay," they sing as they lightly kiss the back of the hand they're holding. "...I want you to wake up tomorrow and fight another day."
You're bawling now.
The Reader steps over the memory of your assailant's body and sits on the bed, opens their arms to you, and you cascade into them, the tears hot down your cheeks and your throat tight.
"You deserve a say," they murmur. "Don't give up."
"...Seriously, are you Parker now?"
Somehow, you're able to tell they roll their eyes, and can't help but laugh.
"I think I get it, though," you manage, "you can't... you're not able to speak on your own, because you're..."
The Reader nods. "Weak reverberation."
"Maybe you'll be able to talk with your own words later on," you muse. "That's be nice..."
You lean back a little, peeling away from where you're pressed into their shoulder neck area, and rub at your face. They are still holding your hand.
"...Reader," you say slowly, "did I will you here?"
They smile, a smaller shrewd thing now, before they bring you back into the hug as they say, "I'm always here." They pause, give you an affectionate look. "Don't worry - we're in equilibrium."
Their gaze drifts to the body on the floor. "...It's okay if you're scared," they say after a moment.
You swallow back new sobs. "Honestly rather terrified... no, I'm not okay."
They make a motion with their head toward the body; their hat tips a little and absently you reach out to adjust it, make sure it doesn't fall. The Reader makes a little pleased noise as you do and then presses another tarot card your sternum. "Have hope," they say.
"I'm just Wyatt Ma--"
You cut yourself off from the sing song words as you examine the card they dealt. The Star.
You look up at them. "You really think so?"
They nod sternly.
Your eyes cast down. "I wish I was so sure."
"Listen," says the Reader, "you're learning."
You lean closer into them; they sway you back and forth a little. Because you will it, realize you have that power here, and they have none at all, the body sinks into the floor and disappears.
"Thank you," you say. "Gotta make sure to say it properly-- we don't have much time left, I think."
The Reader cocks their head questioningly.
"This'll end," you explain. "Usually anything nice like this stops pretty soon after it starts-- no telling where I'll end up next, but it won't be soft."
"Love you," they say. "Remember that."
"I'll do my best."
The last thing you see is their smile.
(When you rise back to awareness, you're in the between, the realm of half-wakefulness, the pitch dark empty and the Reader is nowhere--
But their shawl remains, still on your shoulders.)

Mark: Hello everybody, my name is Markiplier and welcome to Five Nights at Freddy's, an indie horror game that you guys suggested, in mass, and I saw that Yamimash played it and said it was really really good... So I'm very eager to see what is up. And that is a terrifying animatronic bear! "Family pizzeria looking for security guard to work the nightshift." Oh...12 a.m. The first night. If I didn't wanna stay the first night, why would I stay any more than... five... Why I stay any more than two- hello? Okay...
Phone starts to call
Mark: Hello?... Hello? Oh, I can't move. That is a creepy skull, there's creepy things on the wall. Oh, hello.
Phone Guy: Hello?
Mark: Hi!
Phone Guy: Hello?
Mark: HI!!!
Phone Guy: Uh, I wanted to record a message for you to help you get settled in on your first night.
Mark: Ugh...
Phone Guy: Um, I actually worked in that office before you.
Mark: Ah...
Phone Guy: I'm finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact.
Mark: Hm?
Phone Guy: So, I know it can be a bit overwhelming...
Mark: Uugh! U-hu-hu...
Phone Guy: ...but I'm here to tell you there's nothing to worry about.
Mark: Eh...
Phone Guy: Uh, you'll do fine. So, let's just focus on getting you through your first week.
Mark: Okay, sound goo- O...
Phone Guy: Okay? Uh, let's see, first there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read.
Mark: Uh-huh.
Phone Guy: Uh, it's kind of a legal thing, you know. Um, "Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
Mark: Okay.
Phone Guy: A magical place for kids and grown-ups alike...
Mark: (Scared laughing)
Phone Guy: where fantasy and fun come to life.
Mark: Uughuh!
Phone Guy: Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced.
Mark: (Totaly in panic mode)
Phone Guy: Blah blah blah, now that might sound bad, I know...
Mark: Yeah!
Phone Guy: but there's really nothing to worry about. Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No.
Mark: (Scared laughing)
Phone Guy: If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right?
Mark: Okay!
Phone Guy: Okay.
Mark: Okay...
Phone Guy: So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit.
Mark: No way...
Phone Guy: Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night.
Mark: (Scared laughing)
Phone Guy: Uh...Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long.
Mark: Ugh...
Phone Guy: Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was The Bite of '87.
Mark: THE BITE?!
Phone Guy: Yeah.
Mark: What bite!?
Phone Guy: I-It's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?
Mark: WHY?!
Phone Guy: Uh, now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours probably won't recognize you as a person.
Mark: Oh, OH!
Phone Guy: They'll p-most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Now since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to... forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit.
Mark: Oh, I get it.
Phone Guy: Um, now, that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices...
Mark: Uh-huh.
Phone Guy: ...especially around the facial area.
Mark: Uh-huh.
Phone Guy: So, you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort...
Mark: Yeah!
Phone Guy: ...and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask, heh.
Mark: Ugh! Oh, why... What happend?
Phone Guy: Y-Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up. But hey, first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow. Uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary.
Mark: THAT'S NOT GOOD...
Phone Guy: Gotta conserve power. Alright, good night.
Call ends
Mark: GOOD NIGHT?!
Mark: OH NO... OH THAT'S BAD! I understand what I need to do. I need to watch the cams so that they don't come after- ONE'S MISSING!!
Bonnie is in the Backstage
Mark: OH, HI! There you are, pretty bunny thing... Okay... Okay, okay, I get it, I get it, I get it, where'd you go? You're still there? Alright, you stay there. I don't know if it's good that you're staring at me! Oh my god. I thought it was weird that it couldn't move, but this is totally different... than any horror game I've ever played. So what you gotta do in case you not getting it is you gotta watch the cameras to make sure they don't come by- You got a little much power- Is he still there? Hi, you're still there. Wait a minute, what, DID YOU MOVE?! Okay, you didn't move. You don't move neither... You don't moving nothing... If I see you moving... I don't wanna see anything...Oh-oh-oh MY GOD! THIS'S TERRIFYING! Why do I leave doors so open, why isn't there enough power-
Bonnie is in the Dining Area
Mark: Hi, okay, you moved again. Hi. What are you doing there? Might be getting a little close to me...
Camera goes static
Mark: O-oh, oh, no, OH NO, NO, NOOO! No-no-no... Nooo, no, no, close the clo-ose, closing, closing! Eh. YOU'LL NEVER GET ME! Okay, you're over there, alright...It's okay. They're gonna pop out at me! Oh, god, he's gone. Hi. Okay. You just gonna alternate between the two places, it's totally fine. And your friends, they ain't moving. They're not moving, are they? I see where I am. You're not near me. So, that's good. Just gonna periodically check... How much long do I need- I need last to 6 a.m. Oh god, am I gonna have enough power? If I run out of power thy'll able to get me! Oh god... You stay right there! Why am I still using some power? O-oh god... Seriously, I what... this like... this like... bad! You're still there, okay. This is a first night, they said it should be easy to first night so I only assuming one of them... just gonna wandering around and it is a creepy bunny guy. {Happy fun time at Freddy's, in fun land... having such a wonderful time...}♪ Okay, so, you still there? Okay, you still there... I'm gonna name you... Bunny Blallagy-
Camera goes static
Mark: OH GOD WHERE'D YOU GO?! Oh god, he's here? Hello? Where'd he go? Hi again, okay. You stay right the F there! I don't want to have to deal with you...
Mark closes both doors
Mark: Probably shouldn't do that, I need to conserve power. God dammit I was like have the damn thing in- I think the doors were down. You're still there? Oh-kay... Oh-kay. Oh-kay! (Scared laughing)
Music starts
Mark: I hear that... I HEAR THAT! OH GOD! WHERE'S THE OTHER ONE?! WHERE'S HE?! U-UGH! U-UGH! WHERE IS HE?! Where'd you go? Where'd you go, where'd you go, where are both of them, both of th-
Bonnie is in the West Hall
Mark: H'i, you are really close to me! Oh god, it's not 6 a.m. yet?
Chica is in Restrooms
Mark: Hi. Okay. So I think I just need to keep the left door closed? (Crying) NOT OKAY NOT OKAY! Is he behind that door? No, where'd he go? Where-
Chica is in the East Hall
AH! OH HI HI HI HI HI HI OKAY OKAY, I DON'T HAVE MUCH POWER LEFT. What you gonna do? Is the other one still there? U-uh! HI... Oh, you moved again! Where where where? (Scared laughing) What do I do, what do I do-
Chica is in E. Hall Corner
Mark: OOOH YOU'RE RIGHT SO BEHIND THAT DOOR! OH, WHAT HAPPENS IF I OPEN THE DOOR?! I'm running out of power. Oh, I'm gonna run out of power! Is he there? I don't want- I don't- I do- I don't wanna die... AH, ONE PERCENT POWER?! (nervous grudging sound)
Power out, doors open
Mark: AH! ... Oh NO! OH NO, NO NO! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! Oh no no no no no...no no...
Freddy flashes in left door
Mark: HIIII! OH, GAWD DAMMIT! HOW'RE YOU DOING?!
6 a.m. chimes
Mark: Oh, did I make it? I make it? Yeah-ha! Oh god not again! Why would I do this stupid job?! Oh-kay... Okay. So I ran out of power, but...
Phone starts to call
Mark: OH HI, HI AGAIN! You got to be some "sage advice" for me? Yep, okay, yep, I know, yep, yep yep yep, what I can do for you? I know! Oh god...
Phone Guy: Uhh, Hello? Hello? Uh, well, if you're hearing this and you made it to day two, uh, congrats!
Mark: (laughs in panic)
Phone Guy: I-I won't talk quite as long this time since Freddy and his friends tend to become more active as the week progresses.
Mark: What?
Phone Guy: Uhh, it might be a good idea to peek at those cameras while I talk just to make sure everyone's in their proper place.
Bonnie is in Dining Area
Mark: No.
Phone Guy: You know... Uh... Interestingly enough, Freddy himself doesn't come off stage very often. I heard he becomes a lot more active in the dark though, so, hey, I guess that's one more reason not to run out of power, right?
Mark: (laughs in panic)
Phone Guy: I-I also want to emphasize the importance of using your door lights. There are blind spots in your camera views, and those blind spots happen to be right outside of your doors. So if-if you can’t find something, or someone, on your cameras...
Bonnie is in the West Hall
Mark: Ugh-h!
Phone Guy: ...be sure to check the door lights. Uh, you might only have a few seconds to react... Uh, not that you would be in any danger, of course. I'm not implying that.
Mark: Of course!
Phone Guy: Also, check on the curtain in Pirate Cove from time to time. The character in there seems unique in that he becomes more active if the cameras remain off for long periods of time. I guess he doesn't like being watched.
Bonnie is in W. Hall Corner
Mark: UGH-GH! UHH!
Phone Guy: I don't know. Anyway, I'm sure you have everything under control! Uh, talk to you soon.
Call ends
Mark: Where's Pirate Cove? Why are you going to leave me with this? Don't leave me like this!Where's, where's Big Yellow?
Chica is in Dining Area
Mark: There's Big Yellow. Is he still there? He's still there? YES YOU SILL THERE! VERY GOOD! VERY GOOD! Oooooh dooon't like th... Is he still there? I'm so going run out- Okay he left, okay. Okay! We're okay! We're going be fine, we're gonna be totally fine. We will be fine, hello. Hello, bubsy, where's the other guy? Where's the other guy? Where's he?! Where's he, where's he, where's he, where's he, where-
Bonnie is in the West Hall
Mark: Oh, there... Okay. He's not-
Freddy looks straight in the camera
Mark: Oh, HIII! HEY, FREDDY, HOW U DOING?! Okay. He will be nearby? You stay there! Where's the other one, where's the other one, where's the other one? There he is. Okay. I am pan- I'M LOSING MY SHIT RIGHT NOW! I'M NOT OKAY WITH THIS!
Camera goes static
Mark: OH GOD NOT AGAIN! NO DO DO DO THAT! No no no. Don't you be- Oh god!
Bonnie is in W. Hall Corner

Chica is in East Hall

It's would be terrifying if you controlled the cameras with like an Oculus Rift or something? Oh, my god. Cause you just move your head back and forth... Oh, my god. Hi again. Where's the other one? Where'd you go, where'd you go? Oh, there he is. Okay, so long as you two stay right there, you'll be good! You look very pretty! Uh, where's the Pirate Cove Guy- Oh, here's Pirate Cove, okay. 51. “He’s no good for you”
57. "Days without you are my reminder that there's something wrong"
58." I'm forever yours whether you have me or not"
-----
Dick watched as you laughed at something Brad said. He scoffed thinking what could have been so funny that had you laughing that hard. He drowned the rest of his whiskey before asking the bartender for a refill; he knew he was staring too much, but it was impossible for him to look away when you were having a good time in someone else's arms. He knew he shouldn't be upset about it, after all it was his fault that you two were no longer together, and boy he regretted that every single day.
"You're staring" Donna said sitting in the stool next to his best friend. She asked for another beer while awaiting Dick's answer. She thanked the bartender and took a sip of the beer while rolling her eyes. "You know, it's getting kind of creepy."
"Shut up" Dick said not tearing his gaze from the happy -disgusting- couple.
"You do know she still loves you right? But at least she had the guts so move on, unlike someone else" Donna mumbled the last part but loud enough for him to hear.
"Look, Donna. I love you, you're my best friend, but shut up.i know I fucked up okay? I know" Dick said drinking the whiskey, liking the burning sensation the liquid left on his throat. "And I know i don't deserve her, or her forgiveness. But seriously, that guy?" He asked looking back at how Brad.
"You really are stupid aren't you?" Donna asked in a serious tone.
Dick looked back at her not understanding what she's trying to convey.
"Jesus Christ, I mean what can I expect you're a man after all" she mocked him "do you really think that Y/n Is not waiting for you to make another move? Yes, she's with Brad now but it's because you're not with her! She loves you and even though you screw your chances with her, she's still waiting for you to come back. How blind you have to be not to see that?" Donna got up and went back to the group of friends that, unlike Dick, was actually having a good time.
Dick was astonished to hear her friend say that. He actually thought that after what he did, Y/n would hate him. But hearing Donna say that gave him hope. He couldn't stand seeing the girl he loved being touched and loved by someone else. He needed to do something. All the alcohol he consumed was not helping him think straight so instead of waiting to sober up a little he went looking for his girl.
Y/n was glued to Brad's side when Dick approached the group stumbling his way to the group, bumping into anyone that stood on his way to get you. When he finally reached the table he smile at Y/n which looked at him with confusion in her eyes.
"Heyy Y/n can I talk to you?" He slurred his words a little bit "in private" he added the last part quickly.
"Umm, sure" the girl said getting out of Brad's grip and followed the dark haired boy outside.
She rubbed her arms trying to preserve the heat from leaving her body, but San Francisco nights were cold as ice. They stood outside for a few minutes in silence before Dick spat the words to her.
"He's no good for you,you know?"
"What?" Y/n asked unsure of what he had said.
"Bryan, he's not good for you. You deserve better" he said not looking at her.
"It's Brad, and what do you know what's good for me?" Y/n scoffed. She was tired of Dick's entitlement.
"Because I know you Y/n! And I know you'd never go for someone like Brad" Dick answered quickly. "I know you're only doing this to make me jealous!"
Y/n laughed bitterly, trying to control herself, she really wanted to punch Dick, "Wow, so everything is always about you Grayson huh?"
"That's not what I meant" the boy tried to get closer to her buck she took a step back instead getting away from him.
"No, that's exactly what you mean. Drunk minds speak sober thoughts and all that bullshit right?" Y/n turned around to go back inside the bar, she stopped in her tracks without looking at Dick "Go home Dick, get some sleep and then maybe we can talk."
Dick cursed under his breath, tugging at his hair. He knew he screw up yet another opportunity to talk with you about what happened; the alcohol running through his veins evaporated when he saw the look on your face after he said those words to you. He sobered up immediately and even though you didn't shut him down completely,he still feel so stupid for trying to get you back while intoxicated. He was going to have to wait till tomorrow when, hopefully, his head would be in the right place.
---
Dick woke up when he hear Donna's - loud - voice; he groaned in response and hissed when the light hit his half open eyes.
"Rise and shine sweetheart" Donna said in a sing-song voice. "Ready to fuck things up again with Y/n? Or did you manage to grow some balls overnight that would help you talk to her,you know, like a normal person?" She said smirking at the hungover boy.
"Fuck off" he said grabbing a pillow and hiding his face on it, only for the object to be taken away by none other than his best friend.
"Oh I will fuck off, when you go and apologize to her. Seriously what were you thinking Dick? As if things weren't bad enough you managed to make them even worst" she said sitting next to him.
"I know okay, I will talk to her. Just...give me some time" he replied rubbing his throbbing temple.
"Not gonna happen. You're going to take a shower, have some coffee and you gonna get your ass in line and go talk to her, you hear me? I'm sick and tired of seeing you mope around because you're 'oh so sad because you can't be with her'.
You need to go and fix this, now."
Donna was right and Dick knew this, but he was afraid that you may not be willing to give a relationship another shot, and that terrified him.
He followed his friends advice and within an hour he was ready, and determined to get you back.
---
Ever since her and Dick broke up, Y/n decided that it was best to get her own place. Living in the tower was easy and y/n really enjoyed it,but waking up every day to see your ex boyfriend was not something she looked forward too.
So she decided to look for a place not too far from the tower in case of an emergency.
She cleaning some dishes that were in the sink from the night before when she heard a knock on the door. She wiped her hands with a towel and went to open the door. When she saw it was Dick she moved aside so he could get inside and sighed preparing herself for yet another argument.
"I'm sorry" he said first not wanting to beat around the bush any longer. "I was drunk last night and I know that's not an excuse for what I said but I'm really sorry Y/n"
The girl looked at his appearance and noticed the bags under his eyes and how dull his eyes were;it was weird seeing him so defeated, she hated to see him like this.
"I know Dick, but we've been having this type of conversation for weeks now. And I- I'm just tired of it ending in a fight where one of us always gets hurt" she said looking down, finding the rug under her feet quite interesting.
Dick took a step forward and when she didn't backed away, he smiled a little.
"Look at me" he said softly, lifting her face with a finger under her chin, looking over at her glossy eyes. "You deserved better than this, than me" he said.
"Don't you think I have some say in that?" She asked him grabbing his hand and caressing it with her thumb. "I know you want the best for me now and back then too,but you were, you are what's best for me Dick. I know it"
Dick realized he was crying when he wiped the tears with her fingers. He wasn't really the type to cry, but he felt so vulnerable under her gaze.
"I miss you, so much. And all those days without you were my reminder that there was something wrong" he said pulling her closer to his body so she could rest her head in his chest.
They stood there embracing each other, reminiscing about when they were in the exact same position but in a different situation, a much happier one.
"I love you Y/n. I have loved you ever since you set a foot in the tower. From the first time I have loved you and it scares the shit out of me how much you mean to me. I know I was unfair to leave you without explaining the reason, but I just couldn't keep lying to myself, so I needed to let you go, because alone was safer than with you. I needed to keep you away from me so I could keep you safe, and i know it's a bullshit reasoning but I have never loved anyone as much I love you. But I promise I'll be better if you take me again. I'm forever yours, whether you have me or not"
Y/n didn't answer instead she just hugged him. She was crying too. When she pulled away to dry her puffy eyes she smiled at the brown haired boy in front of her.
"I love you too Dick, so much" she bit her lip "i- i also told Brad that we would have never worked out" she said laughing a little "it was unfair for him to keep leading him on when I knew it was not going to work, so I won't be seeing him again."
"I'm sorry It didn't work" he said with honesty.
"No, you're not" she laughed a little louder this time making him laugh too.
"You're right" he looked down biting his lip not wanting to ruin the moment.
"So...do you think we could try again?"
Y/n smiled sweetly at the boy and brought a hand up to caress his face, dick leaned into her touch.
"I think we can, yes. But I'm gonna need some time, okay?"
"As much as you need" he said quickly. "I'm not going anywhere."
"Good, cause neither am I"
