#from dry by neil shusterman ^#reading bc i was nostalgic for a survivalist YA novel#big fan of the characterization mostly#although so far its like pretty bog standard survivalist horror albeit very well written#im only like halfway through though so we'll see if it gets as scary as the recommendation i saw says itll be#i'm probably just spoiled from reading every survivalist book i could get my hands on as a kid#including the one where the kid realizes his abusive father has fabricated the entire disaster#and also the dad is forcing his wife to have children with the intent of eating them#or that one where towards the end of the novel the MC realizes her fellow survivor#was a hallucination brought on by her infected piercing and that hed died shortly after the plane crash#...or that one where a weight loss drug makes a cruise ship full of rich people go insane and start eating each other#er. not eating. just killing each other i think.#OR THE ONE WHERE A BUNCH OF KIDS LIVE IN A LOCKED DOWN SUPERSTORE. long series#and i cant remember the specifics but it had some fuuuuuuucked moments.
