if you have been trying to educate people in your life about the ongoing genocide, i can't emphasize enough how useful a resource documentaries have been for me. not only do i learn things from them, but they can be so much more effective than a single post or article in terms of humanization, amount of information, and perceived credibility. they are also such good openers and foundations for having further conversations about palestine, colonization, and systemic oppression as a whole. like these documentaries got me to conversational points w family members that i never thought i'd be able to get them to any time soon on my own. some documentaries i recommend are children of shatila and frontiers of dreams and fears (both on netflix) as well as israelism, which is available for rent on its own site, but if you go into my "film" tag there should be a list of palestinian movie recs that are currently on netflix. i'll also rb it again after posting
#if your family are iffy about israelism not being on like a recognizable streaming platform#you could perhaps mention that the team were interviewed by democracy now and i believe other news outlets#and that it's been screened in theaters and campuses across the country#i do think part of it is that i have several family members posting constantly about palestine so like#i'm not the only one in immediate view of my relatives trying to spread info#but still. watching the docs did a lot#palestine#karinyo.txt#there is also of course the list of mostly vox and al jazeera youtube docs in the resource list in my pinned#i might just be a pessimist or something but i was genuinely shocked at the kinds of conversations we were having after watching#so i had to share
