He nearly drops the phone. Or maybe he nearly throws it against the wall. Hard to say. 

His reflex to caretake wars with his lingering resentment of her absence. But he knows he would regret ignoring an olive branch… or whatever this is.

John taps his phone to his lip absently and considers his options. A public reunion seems like it could be a volatile mistake, not to mention it's 7pm on a weekday. Sherlock is at the lab, Rosie is having her after-supper blanket time, and John is catching up on charting.

And to be honest, he's pretty bored.

Come to mine for tea?

Harry's three dots wibble for a while, which John supposes is fair.

He sends her the address, feeling both pleased and annoyed. One would think that hitting his own rock bottom would make him more sympathetic towards his sister. But really, it just piles helpless anger on top of guilt on top of anger, ad nauseum.

He's not even sure she knows he's a father, for Christ's sake.

Turns out, she doesn't. She walks through the door he holds open for her, and stops abruptly when she sees Rosie. 'Oh my God,' she breathes, staring. 'Oh my God. You--' She turns to John, eyes wide. 'She-- Johnny. She's yours?'

He nods, and despite everything, he feels his face curve into a proud smile. 'Her name's Rosie.'

'Can I--' Harry indicates the blanket with a sharp movement. 'Can I say hello to her?'

'Yeah, course.' He follows her, and folds himself down behind Rosie. 'Sweetheart, this is your Aunt Harry.'

Harry makes a bit of a squawking noise, probably at the 'aunt' bit, but tamps it down. 'Hi, Rosie,' she manages, her voice rough but determined. 'It's lovely to meet you. What are you playing with?'

'Avocados,' Rosie mostly manages to say, then holds one up for Harry without hesitation. Harry takes it with a giggle, and before long they're thick as thieves with a pile of emoting avocados between them.

Harry glances up at him when there's a lull. 'So. The dad life is treating you well, yeah?'

He hesitates, then nods. 'It is now.'

She eyes him, but doesn't ask about what came before now. Instead, she says, 'I'm just going to ask, alright -- who's the other parent?'

He raises an eyebrow. 'Why d'you say there is one?'

Her eyes twinkle. 'Because you do not have the fashion sense to have bought her this outfit. Your bird rich, then?'

He coughs. 'Well. No.'

She waits, though he can see she's trying not to be annoyed by his reticence. She's never understood people wanting to keep things private. 'No?'

'My… flatmate. He's able to buy her things I don't give a toss about, yeah.'

She blinks. 'You have a gay flatmate?'

John feels his ears heat up. 'I do, yeah.'

She seems weirdly impressed. 'You've come a long way from being a rugby lad, haven't you?'

He snorts. 'I'm learning how to do plaits, if you'll believe it.'

'She's not got enough hair for that yet.'

'Sherlock--the flatmate--insists it's a useful skill, though I've no idea why.'

She doesn't reply, and he looks up from where he's helping Rosie with her current avocado. 'What?' he asks, though he knows it's useless. Harry is no Sherlock but honestly, she doesn't have to be, because his emotions have always been written all over his face. It's a curse and a blessing.

'Oh holy shit,' she breathes out.

'Language,' he admonishes reflexively.

'Sorry, I mean-- Holy noses, Johnny.'

'Don't be smug.'

'Oh, I take no credit for this, I always knew the overcompensating locker room talk was hiding something.'

He rolls his eyes, but his lips are twitching. 'Yeah, insecurity about willy size.'

'Okay, ew, first of all. Second of all-- What the--' He gives her a warning look. 'Ever-loving heck.'

'Short version?' She nods quickly. He decides to also give her the slightly-less-mad-sounding version. 'Got married, got pregnant, had baby, wife passed away, realised I had feelings for my flatmate. Who is a man. And who is effectively fathering my child.'

She claps her hand over her mouth, and for a moment he fears she's going to cry, but then realises she's laughing.

'Oi, that's just not on,' he protests.

'But it's ridiculous!' She holds out a hand to him placatingly, speaking through continued laughter. 'It's lovely and sad and all that, but you have to admit--'

There are tears escaping the corners of her eyes, and he feels it begin to bubble up in his chest, too. Her laugh has always been a thing of beauty, of loud, annoying, contagious, unforgettable beauty, and he can't help it.

And she's right, really. It is kind of ridiculous.

He lets out his own laugh, finally, and reaches for her hand.

Not gonna shame you for it or anything since that’s your choice but as a grown adult myself it does make me uncomfortable interacting with a minor who is posting 18+ content and I didn’t realise before since it wasn’t as obvious with there being so much in your bio. Sibling/Family

Pencil and Pen are siblings. Pencil is older by a few years, and Pen has trouble being apart from her for too long due to his RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder). Marker is their cousin, he's younger than them both.

Tree, Leafy, Flower and Grassy (in that order) are siblings. They usually don't acknowledge this because the age gaps between them are so big, but Flower and Leafy have a propensity to favour each other since their ages are closer and they grew up together. Their ages in BFB are: Tree: 27, Leafy: 19, Flower: 18, Grassy: 6

Woody is a cousin. He's 17 in BFB.

Silver Spoon and Knife are brothers. They don't know that; Silver Spoon was raised in a rich neighbourhood by their mother, and Knife was "raised" by his "father" somewhere else.

Firey and Match are half-siblings. Firey is a little older than Match.

Firey Jr is the result of a failed Firey recovery. The former likes to think of them as brothers, but Firey would rather not think about the little one.

I also agree with the idea that Firey is a fireafy child, but I don't like fireafy so I choose to ignore it.

Paintbrush and Broomer are cousins, and they have lunch over their art every other weekend. Paintbrush is The Broomer Boys' album artist.

Gelatin and Lollipop are not related, but they think of each other as their sibling. Gelatin is younger than Lolly.

Fan and Paper are cousins.

Coiny and Nickel (bfb) are twins, but Nickel is younger.

If they were to be humans, Yin and Yang would be conjoined twins.

Black Hole has alexithymia. That means he has trouble identifying his emotions and often feels as if he doesn't have them.

Liy used to be an assassin; that's why she found so much joy and fulfilment in being part of Death PACT.

Because of his RAD, Pen has convinced himself he and Eraser are soulmates.

Two's birthday is 2/2/2002. They're the third-youngest Numeric Algebralien, the only younger being Four (4/12/2004) and X (7/28/2008).

Golf Ball made herself prosthetic arms, but she rarely uses them as she finds them to be "a hassle." Tennis Ball wears him, though, only because he feels an obligation to use GB's invention (since she made it for him, and it would be rude not to accept a gift!)

all the Electric contestants (Remote, TV, Robot Flower, Lightning and Fanny) are in an alliance. Price Tag and Profily are honorary members.

Coiny is dyslexic. That means he has trouble identifying words and letters and often spells and reads things incorrectly.

Bell loves Christmas music and often forces her teammates to go carolling with her every morning in December.

Blocky is great at physics (some of his pranks wouldn't work unless he carefully calculated them first, so he needs to be at least a little smart). One time, while helping nanny one of Rocky and Grassy's playdates, he noticed GB building a contraption where the support beams were slightly too small, and he helped her fix them. Much to the surprise of everyone involved, Blocky ended up being an asset to the scientists.

Firey speaks Spanish, and Taco is fluent in Mexican Spanish; they often can be heard muttering to each other about their respective Grrrs. Neither Leafy nor the rest of TLTDBGSI know this.

Pie wakes up at 3:14 AM every single day. Since Fanny is a light sleeper, it bothered her for the entire 6 months they had to room.

Fanny isn't much more grateful for having to bunk with Marker, either -- if it were up to her, he'd be sleeping in the yard.

Needle was the kid who tries way too hard in gym class but no one complained because WOW can she kick that ball

Like all metal and electric-based characters, Nickel can zap people by touching them, if the conditions are right. The only exceptions to this are Balloon and Goo since they are made of rubber-based materials.

5. do you respond to comments?

I definitely try to respond to everything, but I have been slacking lately. I love reading comments and seeing messages and reading reblog notes and tags, so thank you to everyone that's left me something. I get a little overwhelmed and overthink replies to people, and then they just pile up. I need to get better with that - I don't ever want anyone to feel like I don't appreciate the time they take to read and leave comments, because I 100% do.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

A lot of my stuff is still ongoing, but I'd have to say that one of my 2023 Summer Smooches for Frankie: A Kiss in the Dark/A Breakup Kiss was really angsty.

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

All of my stories have somewhat happy endings, but I think the one that is actually the overall happiest is Life Is Good

8. do you get hate on fics?

I've gotten some in the past, yes. It's mainly been due to the things I won't write or include / aimed at trying to get me to not write for a specific character because I don't 'do it right' - but I ignore it. It's not worth my time to focus on what anonymous people have to say about my writing or the content I choose to create.

9. do you write smut?

I do! I like to include it when the story calls for it, and not just have it be gratuitious. My characters have to work for it (unless it's a specifically smutty prompt or one shot) because I like giving them motivation for the smut if that makes sense.

10. craziest crossover?

I haven't ever written a crossover, BUT @the-blind-assassin-12 planted the seed for an Oberyn Martell / Logan Delos Thing a little while ago and I haven't stopped thinking about it.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

I haven't ever had an entire fic stolen, but I have most definitely seen other writers take parts of my stories and include them in theirs - mainly for another fandom, but it was word for word in a couple instances.

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

Not translated to repost, but a few people have told me they've used Google Translate to read in their first language, so that was pretty neat!

13. have you ever co-written a fic before?

HELL YEAH. Aphelion with @the-blind-assassin-12 and there's no one else I'd rather work so closely with on this story. BUT I would love to co-write something else at some point, too.

14. all time favorite ship?

Kate x Jack on LOST. They're perfect for each other and the confirmation from Evangeline a couple years ago that in her mind, Kate was pregnant the last time she left the island makes me cry.

Also, Nine/Ten and Rose on Dr. Who, and Oberyn and Ellaria.

15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I hope to finish all of my current WIPs, but if I had to choose one that might get abandoned just because of how long it's been ... I'm going to say Starlight, just because I have other ideas for Ezra that I feel more connected with.

16. what are your writing strengths?

I've been told that I'm good at immersive details, and that people enjoy my dialogue because it feels "real". I have also been told that people like my characterization. I personally feel like I'm good at writing action and tension.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

I don't think I'm particularly good with smut. I also feel like I'm too wordy sometimes, and put too much emphasis on details / things only I as a writer will care about.

18. thoughts on dialogue in another language?

If it benefits a story and makes sense for the characters in question, I love it. But I don't include it a lot just because if it's not a made up language like Valyrian or Mando'a, I always worry I'll use or translate things incorrectly.

19. first fandom you wrote in?

Children of the Corn. I don't like to talk about it, but ... here we are.

20. favorite fic you've written?

I am insanely, obsessively proud of Just Too Good To Be Gone. I am so protective over Joel Miller and his characterization, and every single thing I've written and planned for that series is something that I stand behind - and always will. I also think that Aphelion is really special, and it's not just because it's Oberyn, but because Alyssa and I have been on the same page every step of the way and it's been really, really satisfying to watch that all come together the way it has.

972,000 and i'm going to hit a million by the end of the year! i have one co-written collab so we can subtract about 30k (ish) from that total (but with ALTA i'll still make a milly woohoo).

Always. You put in the effort to comment on my work, I'm gonna put in the effort to reply to you. I appreciate comments so much, even if they're just emojis or one line or whatever. I appreciate every single one of them (except the mean ones).

I don't usually go here, but I think it has to be Contaminated (RWRB).

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

99% of my fics have happy endings (except for the fic above lol) but I'd say the happiest ending is in (Un)Professional Services because they're So. In. Love. and they just *spoiler* together and they're about to *spoiler*.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Rarely and I usually ignore it or delete it (so there's no point doing it).

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

A Lot. Usually served with a heavy side of feelings - I like it when the smut drives the plot, when it helps the characters have those Oh Shit realisations. I'm also a sucker for explicit, enthusiastic consent.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I have written like 30% of a RWRB/Lone Star crossover that may never see the light of day because I keep forgetting about it.

If I have, I don't know about it.

Yes! I've had a few of my fics translated by incredible people! Phonography, Warm Whispers and Baby, Make Your Move have all been translated and can be found above. I'm fine with people translating my fics, so long as they're linked to the original and remain on ao3.

Yes and I love it. I want to do it more often! @rmd-writes collab was an amazing experience. i've also loved working with @dustratcentral on so many of my more unhinged works.

Probably that damn crossover, unless there's like significant interest in me finishing it lmao.

Oh no. giving myself a compliment help. I would say worldbuilding. dialogue/banter. gratuitous feelings during sex.

exposition. being concise. overwriting to the max @three-drink-amy (this is an attack on you as well but we are we).

i've done it before but to be honest i'm scared to. 1) i don't want to get it wrong. 2) i don't want to annoy my very talented friends that can speak other languages by asking them 10 billion questions lol.

Love Game. I don't care that it's not as popular. it's my child. Also, ALTA (because of the many tears that went into it). We are bonded by trauma.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Weight Of The World is still missing its third and final chapter and not having finished that one drives me nuts but i just can't seem to be able to pick up on it

I am the most chaotic writer. i jump back and forth between scenes like a maniac. when inspiration hits, i'll just dive right in without ever thinking about plot lines or mapping out the 'greater picture' beforehand and yet, i always manage to bring it all together in the end (at least i hope so).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

repetitions and the overuse of certain expressions. english isn't my first language and sometimes the lack of vocabulary for things i want to describe and write about is just frustrating. (thank fuck for OneLook Thesaurus but still)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

as a reader, I love it. Especially if it's little things in a language i understand. Maybe I'll let Eddie be fluent in German or have Steve whip out some very limited French or Portuguese in the future 😆

8. if you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?

i've already written a story without action... so writing one without dialogue would be more of a challenge. it could be a piece in which two characters are cuddling and one is asleep, or in which they've just had a nasty argument and one more word might lead to blows.

17. talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

i hate repeating myself, so please have these links in which i answer this question at length instead:

35. what’s your favorite writing rule to smash into smithereens?

'don't switch character perspectives within a scene! you shouldn't switch at all, but if you do it should only occur once a chapter/once a scene. head-hopping is bad.' oh, bollocks to that. GTFO and go challenge yourself, i beg you. go read some good 19th and 20th century english-language literature and get back to me. if there's a good reason for me to shift between brains in a scene, i will do it; and you, gentle reader, will be none the wiser. you also won't be calling it 'head-hopping', because it shouldn't feel jarring if done well.

most writing 'rules' aren't, really. at best, they're guidelines to help you target your writing for specific audiences. for every prescriptivist so-called rule, i can find ten published pieces of fine english lit that blithely ignore it. the one i smash ignore most often in my writing on this blog is... 'proper' capitalization. i'm sure it annoys some people, but my writing isn't for them.

9.worst part of canon

The lack of consistency/follow through with pretty basic plot points. For example, Laszlo literally says "God" in the pilot, but then also flinches when Guillermo crosses his fingers in the same episode? Nandor can turn into vapor but can't escape the cage in Animal Control? (we can assume that one is because they're all Big Dumb). Colin Robinson has parents - that are still living??? And of course the glossing over of the year abroad. (but that's my television-wide gripe. I HATE time skips, no matter the show. They're lazy and tell me that you didn't actually know what to do with your plot). I could go on, there are lots.

I will accept the girl wives/guy wives change. That was pure Nandor and I loved it.

10. worst part of fanon

Listen. I love the drama. I LOVE the angst. This is a *comedy show*. We are never going to get the huge, dramatic, heart-wrenching love confession and hour-long sex scene that some fans are actually expecting. Like it can *absoluely* have serious moments, but please lower your expectations. This show averages like 4 shit jokes per episode.

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

Forgive me everyone, but Jackie Daytona. Hilarious episode, I love Laszlo so fucking much and Mark Hamill as a vampire is everything I didn't know I needed. But I really do. not. need. another. episode. It was perfect as is. Let it lie.

(also Laszlo has some WAY better lines/arcs outside of his one episode where he was essentially someone else)

Ooh, for fic... I love when people play with the characters/situations from canon a bit. Not necessarily a full AU, but taking some element and asking "what if this happened instead"? I love that.

And there are absolutely no personal biases here, absolutely none, but I would love to see more traditional media fanart. Gimme some paintings, some linocut prints, watercolors, anything! I love to see it.

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

I'm combining these two, since they're kind of similar. I feel like there's SO MUCH that everyone appreciates, it's hard to come up with something that people have fully ignored.

But I think one of my FAVORITE parts of the show is when they combine actual artwork with images of the characters. My whole life is art history, so I geek out a bit every. Single. Time. I LOVE the attention to detail, and every time I go to an art museum (which is fairly often) I can't help but wonder where the characters could fit in.

It ALSO makes me OBSESS over what contemporary artist would paint vampire Guillermo. I've definitely already made a post about this, but my current bid is for Alejandro Pasquale.

(EDIT: Another artist I think would be great is Ben Ashton. His visuals with the classical style would be so interesting to see hanging next to the actual old artwork in the mansion)

19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...

I'm not ashamed about it, but since I somehow still see hate over a year later, I want to voice my support for s4. The lighting? GORGEOUS. The costumes/practical effects? STUNNING. College-me that thought I was going to be a theatre set designer could write BOOKS on the changes they made to the house, let alone the club and night market.

Yes, the time skip pissed me off. Yes, there's the entire Marwa/Freddie can of worms. But literally everything else was incredible and the characters had SO MUCH growth. They are so much closer to the family we've been desperate for them to be since s1 because of s4.

Etho was reading in his bedroom when he heard the unwelcome sound of knocking on his door. After looking around and coming to the conclusion that there was nowhere he could hide (and pretend he wasn't there), the white haired prince sighed, sitting up and closing his book over. "Come in!" He called, trying to sound like he hadn't been actively avoiding talking to whoever it was.

The door opened to reveal the even more unwelcome sight of a woman with long white/gray hair, dark gray eyes, an overly extravagant red satin dress with ruby embroidery and an excessively shiny golden crown with circles of amber and ruby embedded in it. His mother, the queen of Xobrazia.

"You shouldn't spend so much time reading, you know, there are much better hobbies." The woman commented.

Etho nodded, gritting his teeth slightly. "I'm aware that's what you think, Mother, but I find it quite enjoyable." He said, adjusting the mask that covered his mouth and nose.

"Still." She glanced around with a disdainful expression.

"Why are you here, Mother?" Etho interrupted her with a yawn. "You hardly ever make the time to actually show your face."

"About that... I've been noticing that you haven't been being incredibly productive with the way you use your time, and I figured I could get someone- a servant- to assist you. General Symmetry's brigade recently discovered and captured a group of those... crossbreeds." Hybrids. The prince corrected her silently. "One of General Symmetry's new squires, a boy called Scar, made a very valid point- that it would make more sense to put some of them to work rather than killing them all. I was thinking that one of them could be a servant of sorts to help you be more productive."

"Like... an assistant?" 'Servant' implies that they're getting paid, Mother, Etho thought with an internal eye roll.

"Servant. They could take care of simple tasks that might take up your time- like managing letters you receive from citizens, and reporting back to me on how you make use of your newly gained free time- so that you can be more productive. A future king shouldn't spend all day in his room reading and drawing." The queen added with a somewhat disappointed expression.

"So... an assistant." Etho repeated wryly, ignoring the last part of what his mother had said.

"Servant." His mother repeated stubbornly, smiling icily. "I have a list of some of the more agreeable ... cross-breeds that were captured. Namely, the ones that didn't try to attack any of our knights. I'll be generous- you may choose which one will be your servant." She handed him a scroll with hastily written notes that Etho quickly recognised as General Symmetry's (or False Symmetry, if he was using her first name) handwriting. He scanned the list quietly.

Etho frowned slightly. Jeez, how many were there? That's like... an alarming amount of hybrids, compared to the amount that have been found over the last few years. He paused, shivering slightly under his mother's impatient gaze. "Uh... the second one?" Florans are the plant ones, right? Like- they control plants?

"Of course. I'll send Stress up with him later." The woman said, referring to Etho's friend Stress, a brunette who nearly always had flowers in her hair who worked as a maid in the palace. "Hopefully you'll be more... productive with your time now." His mother added, looking the prince up and down with an unimpressed expression that made the white haired boy want to punch her in the mouth. "Well, that's all. I'll be going now."

Etho waved halfheartedly as the queen left, getting up to close the door behind her before lying back on his bed and opening the book again.

Etho glanced up as the door opened, brightening slightly as Stress walked in. "Oh- Stress! Hi!"

She smiled slightly. "Prince Etho."

"You don't need to be formal, Stress, my mother isn't here." The white haired boy said with a laugh.

"I was just being formal in front of our... guest. Your mother told me to bring him down here. He's your new assistant." Etho smiled slightly under his mask at the term Stress used, and he opened his mouth to speak before stopping and staring as a boy with an incredibly annoyed expression followed her into the room.

The Floran hybrid was a bit shorter than both Stress and Etho, and he had curly brown hair, tanned skin and freckles scattered across his face. He had (rather pretty) heterochromic brown and green eyes, and a small flower tucked behind his ear. The boy also had an odd, dark green tattoo-like pattern on his neck that reminded Etho of criss-crossing flowers and vines.

"Oh. Uh... it's... nice to meet you." Etho said quietly, and the boy rolled his eyes, muttering something under his breath. "My name is Prince Etho. But you can just call me Etho, no need for the formalities-" The prince added hastily as the brunette shot him a skeptical look. Etho watched as Stress quietly left the room before looking back at the person stood in front of him. "What's your name?"

The boy with heterochromic eyes glared at him, meeting Etho's gaze for the first time. "Why do you care? I'm just a 'servant', right?" He said mockingly. Wow, even if he's mocking me, his voice is- cute- cool. Cool, not cute.

"Well, I was just being nice." Etho pointed out.

"Humans? Being nice? Yeah, no, doesn't sound that accurate." The Floran hybrid snapped. I can't even say he's wrong- one of our brigades did just basically destroy his entire village.

"I mean, I'd like to think that I'm different from other humans." Etho said slowly, frowning slightly. "Come on, just tell me your name- I really want to know now."

The other boy paused. "Not that it's any of your business, but... my name is BDubs."

"I can't see a way out" With father figure!Gilgamesh, reader with earth powers accidentally looses control and makes the house them and Gilgamesh are in fall down but like It didn't crush them and now their trying to push all the rocks and pieces of the house off of them and get out from under it

5. "Why do you hate me" with Druig, something lovers to enemies with him

6. "You said you'd never leave me!" With father figure!frank castle, Frank's dark past catches up with him... once again

7. "If you leave, don't even think about coming back!" With Druig, Druig thinks reader is better off without him

Doctor Y/n - Intern Year - 3 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader

"You paged me?"

You'd managed to find Doctor Torres in radiology, watching the screen for some x-rays to load.

"Yeah, you weren't with the other interns so, figured you and Wilson snuck off somewhere. Anyway, what do you see?" Dr Torres enquired, gesturing to the now-on-display x-rays.

"Unstable fracture in the thoracic spine, you'd have to go in and stabilise it or there could be spinal cord and nerve injury." You stated, leaning in slightly to get a closer look at which parts of the spine.

"That's the T11 region, right?" You murmured, ignoring how Doctor Torres was smirking slightly.

"Yep. Anyway, this is what I am operating on with Doctors Webber, Bailey and Grey. Brooks will be there too, but I want you watching the surgery. I also have another surgery I want you watching, Ross is scrubbing in but it's a nerve transplant procedure with Doctor Avery." Doctor Torres explained, leaving you to nod before chewing your lip.

"I'm just watching all day?" You were careful with how you spoke, watching as Dr Torres raised an eyebrow, but her eyes showed she wasn't mad.

"After what happened with Hunt, I figured throwing you in the deep end wasn't the greatest idea." Doctor Torres admitted, leaving you to stare at the floor.

"Make or break, S/n."

You nodded, choosing to instead talk hypotheticals about how Doctor Torres could stabilise different spinal fractures, not noticing the twinkle of amusement in Callie's eye.

"I met Y/n when I was 17, she was 18 and in a really dark place, yet she'd wash my clothes when I couldn't use the laundry machines because Ms Schmidt wasn't there. She brought me food and even let me borrow her clothes when I was struggling. We've been sharing clothes since then and when I walked across that stage at graduation, I had two people. Ms Schmidt, who gave me the watch after getting this job, her son worked for the company. And I had Y/n, who took a gap year before college and had two jobs yet she still turned up for me."

You were standing at the elevator, talking quietly with Doctor Robbins about a patient when you spotted Doctor Torres. It was only when you spotted who was behind Doctor Torres that a laugh left your mouth.

"What are you laughing-"

"A wild kangaroo has appeared." You stated with a barely straight face as Jo jumped into the air in the hopes you'd catch her.

"Kangaroo?"

"Sup, Joey?" You chuckled, carefully putting Jo down as she leaned into you.

"Tired but Just Dance and beers awaits." Jo smiled, proceeding to drag you off so the two of you could meet Brooks near the ER exit.

"Well, they're certainly energetic." Arizona turned to Callie whose face looked shocked at how high Jo had jumped.

"Interns, so weird." Callie rolled her eyes, following Arizona into the elevator.

"Can you believe they used to be us?" Jo voiced, gaining your attention as you, Brooks and Jo watched the attendings running in with a load of patients.

"They probably say the same thing." You grinned, nudging Jo in the side before the three of you headed out the exit.

A laugh escaped your lips as you sat on the couch, beer in hand as your eyes followed the screen as Brooks was dancing. Jo was sat next to you, beer in hand as she watched you laughing.

"You're up next, Y/n!"

"Come on Joey, duet with me?" You stood up, holding out your arms for Jo to take.

"Aw, duet and not dance battle?" Jo teased, putting down her beer.

"You always cheat in dance battles-"

"I don't always cheat! Sometimes it's you!" Jo retorted, her fingers poking you in the ribs as you huffed.

"Anyways, what song do you want to do? In fact, Brooks, pick a song!" You turned on your heel, facing Brooks as she was drinking her beer, a panicked look on her face before Jo passed her the list of songs.

Turns out when you're exhausted from shift, dancing and having beer, you forget to set alarms.

"Fuck! Jo! Get up! We've got shift!" Your voice shook Jo out of her slumber, but it was the crash of your feet hitting the floor as you flung yourself out of bed that had her sitting up.

You were already in the bathroom whilst Jo headed straight for the wardrobe the two of you shared.

"What, where's the-ugh!" Jo grumbled, grabbing something else as you hurried out of the bathroom, dressed.

Jo was already in the bathroom as you ran around looking for your id card.

"Joey, where's my ID?" You shouted, hearing Jo brushing her teeth as you began to dig through the couch cushions.

"Check Indiana Bones!" Jo retorted, her voice distorted by the toothpaste in her mouth.

You paused as you pulled your head up from the couch, eyes landing on the skeleton model that you and Jo had turned into a coat rack.

Your hospital ID was clipped to the rib cage of Indiana Bones, along with Jo's.

Jo let out a breath as the two of you arrived in the locker room, changing quickly into scrubs before she realised you were already making a beeline out of there.

"Hey! Wearing the black set today? Couldn't find it in my drawers!" Jo exclaimed as you got to the doorway of the locker room.

"Do your own laundry then!" You retorted, sticking your tongue out as you headed out the door, ignoring the extremely confused looks from everyone as they were redirected at Jo.

"You two share underwear?" Leah withheld her laugh at Steph's question, watching as Jo didn't even blink before hurrying out of the door for rounds.

You'd barely made it out of the door before you spotted Doctor Bailey giving you a look that sent chills down your spine.

"You and Wilson are too damn close for your own goods."

You tensed at that, wondering if she was right as you headed down the corridor for rounds. Maybe you and Jo were too close? Then again, you didn't like thinking about life without your person in it.

After rounds were done and you were checking on Bailey's pre and post op patients every half hour, you slipped away to take some time to think.

"Braces? Are you in here?" Jo's voice was quiet as her head peeked through the doorway of the supply closet.

"Just grabbing, uh, something." Jo raised an eyebrow at your blatant lie. Especially since your hand went to a shelf that had nothing on it.

"Sorry, just thinking about things." You replied, brushing your hand over your shoulder to pull your sleeve back up.

"I was right about you wearing the black set today then." Jo teased, leaving you to roll your eyes before Jo reached up, removing a piece of fluff from your eyebrow.

"Wilson- Oh, sorry, uh, Wilson I need you to monitor the NICU, thanks... S/n, I think Doctor Torres has some charts for you to give to Doctor Bailey." Doctor Robbins interrupted, leaving you to clear your throat, nodding quickly before hurrying out.

"You two are really close." Arizona smiled, leaving Jo to nod.

"We're each other's person."

"S/n, I have these for Bailey." Doctor Torres passed you the charts, watching as you took them but she didn't let go of them.

"Is there anything else?"

"If you're going to be out of your clothes on the surgical floor, remember to pick them up. You don't need your underwear turning up on the bulletin board." Doctor Torres warned, leaving you to blink in confusion.

"Capeesh?"

"Uh, capeesh." You spluttered, confused as you turned on your heel to meet the knowing face of Doctor Grey looking at Doctor Torres.

"Doctor Torres, Doctor Grey..." You nodded to them before hurrying out to find Doctor Bailey.

Sannin headcanons and thoughts

The last thing I would like to post for the sannin week. It is still 24.04 here! :D @sannin-central

This is long. Spoiler alert. Mostly Orochimaru, some Tsunade, a little of Jiraiya (because his story is pretty clear and spoken and idk what I can add). Also I recommend to read this meta about Orochimaru, it has influenced me a lot and has some good points. Sorry for any posible grammar mistakes. Also I really should put here a lot of references to the manga or anime but it was something that was piling up for a year and I'm soooooooo lazy. After all, those are just headcanons. Also: Im not excusing Oro's bad stuff here, Im trying to understand the reasons.

Ive already posted some hcs, here, here and here.

1. First if all, the chronology pic of sannin lifetime based on the info i found on naruto wiki and also some statements about wars from this post. It was tough considering what a mess naruto’s chronology is.

2. Sannin story shows what it cost to be a legend. They're like Team 7 but more realistic. Tsunade literally carried the war but left with nothing and developed a ptsd and have problems to just live on. Also anger control issues. I think she can be pretty bossy and stubborn which is not always nice. Jiraiya is the hero of the day but also very idealistic and can ignore some important details in the real word whether its the fight (he always injured during flashbacks maybe because each time he took too much to handle and on the one hand it's heroistic but on the other is a mistake that can lead your team to situations like in that Iwa cave) or your friends issues (I bet he saw what's going on but thought it's fine until Oro actually got red handed and left). He lives in his world and may have problems to get out to see it through someone else's shoes. As for Orochimaru, it seems like he was a normal guy for 20+ years (I mean, he didn't do crazy criminal shit and had something good in him and it was stated somewhere that it was his teammates influence. It is obvious they considered him as a friend, I don't thinks it was for nothing) but we mostly know his darkest side. Despite being a moster he is a human that have empathy and some ordinary human traits (man just decorates every bit of an environment he is in lol).

3. Tsunade was the leader of team Hiruzen.

4. Tsunade sometimes hit Jiraiya for some stupid things he did or said but never touches Orochimaru even if he did something same. Jiraiya complained about it once and almost got another hit.

5. Jiraiya had problematic parents that didn't care about him much and a lot of time he was wandering in the streets.

6. Judging by the look of Oro bangs and hair, he sometimes cut it off. A stress relief huh? And the fact that he doesn't do it now in Boruto..

7. It was shown that Tsunade and Orochimaru was acknowledged before they become a team. Maybe they did just before, or maybe some longer time before. I prefer the second option and hc that they met because both had no real friends - Orochimaru seemed weird and scary for everyone and Tsunade was Senju so everyone wanted to hang out with her but didn't really care. They weren't seen as what they were - people put the labels on them. But they didn't care about each other's labels and actually saw each other in true lights.

8. Tsunade knew it was an accident and it's not right but still she blamed Orochimaru for Nawaki's death for some time. It was something that seriously damaged their friendship and the team. Orochimaru was mad but also guilty, after all, he was responsible at least as a shinobi since Nawaki was under his watch. So he started to act cold and emotionless and was trying to distance himself from his teammates.

9. Jiraiya was in Ame while Dan died.

10. The whole his orphans mission was a bit irresponsible tbh. They already fought Hanzo and as he stated the conflict between Konoha and Ame is going to an end with Konoha's win. It's weird to stay here for three years in the middle of the war while there were other lands to fight. He left his teammates for some idea. Maybe that caused another crack in their team friendship.

11. If Tsunade would have find a way to live on with her trauma and follow the will of fire and stuff it would affect Orochimaru as well just as her grief affected him. It's like he would get an example that you can live on with this pain. So death isn't above human capability and we are not just the slaves of mortality (sounds stupid but i dont know how else to describe sorry). But as we know what he actually saw is that it broke her crucially to the point she couldnt be herself again. And so the death is above everything.

12. Oro wasn’t just acting as a cold pragmatic bitch in that cave but also tried to save Tsunade. Jiraiya knew it and that’s why he showed this sign to him like "I see what youre doing here" and that stunned Oro because he would prefer to look rather like a cold pragmatic bitch hehe

13. Just a thought. People in the village probably treated Oro as a foreigner or just wouldnt accept him because he looked so differently and had a weird attitude. That's why he sometimes didn't feel that Konoha is his home. After the wars where people were treated as means and tools, even the children, he himself developed this view on people - he dehumanized them and used as the means to his goals, just as his village did. Funny thing some people were straightly dehumanizing him too like Ibiki thought that he was a demon (tho he was a child). And he probably weren't the only one. Anyways the point is that it's logical that Orochimaru don't care about anybody but some few people, he's the product of his era. He's like Naruto that would chose the hatred way. But naruto had some good and understanding people around him and.. Orochimaru had them too, but match how Iruka treated Naruto and this Hiruzen's "I sAw tHe mAliCe in This cHiLd fRoM tHe BegGinNinG". And oro didn't even have a big ass evil fox in him. sry i hate hiruzen

ANYWAYS the moral of the story is not "go criminal if they hurt you" but always treat people like people. Waving my hand to Kant.

14. The reason why Orochimaru didn't pick some good morals to stick with through the hard times no matter what (like, idk, Jiraiya or Naruto) is because 1) I think he is/was pretty depending on people around him 2) the war fucked him and his friends up too much (Nawaki incident + Tsunade) 3) twisted addictions (though I don't think he's that sadistic, we never saw him torturing randoms just for fun, it was always some science experimental shit. He tends to get fun out of cruelty only when it's personal) that maybe developed as a way to sublimate anger and sadness caused by his parents loss (that's what they share with sasuke - unlicke naruto, they knew their parents and it's other kind of pain. Sasuke developed a revenge issue and Orochimaru - cruelty pleasure which... is kinda the same but less epic and more occasional lol).

15. Speaking of that, Orochimaru cared for Sasuke because he saw himself in him.

16. Oro hold grudges against Hiruzen for not choosing him to be Hokage not only because he was ambitious and/or egoistic, but also because Hiruzen was some kind of a father figure for him and his approval was important tho i doubt he was aware of that. He also probably could tell that Hiruzen was suspicios about him when he was a child and that led to many conflicts and was hurting as well.

17. Tsunade knew things weren't pretty with Orochimaru after the wars but she never expected them to be this bad. During the week that she was given in her arc she thought not only about how much she wants to see Nawaki and Dan again despite how wrong would it be but also was trying to bury all the good memories she had left of Orochimaru so it would be easier to kill him.

18. She poisoned Jiraiya exactly because she knew he would not let her do it. Jiraiya was always hesitant to kill and inclined to forgiveness, while Tsunade, as mentioned by Orochimaru, could be merciless (so much so that he was not surprised when Kabuto suggested that she wanted to use Jira for Edo Tensei).

19. That was one of her traits that scared Jiraiya and fascinated Orochimaru.

20. Remember how Oro grabbed Jiraiya's neck when the latter was trying to cover with hair jutsu? On the snake, in Tsnade's arc. Orochimaru could have easily kill Jiraiya by pulling the sword out of the mouth (arteries are right there) but he didn't. As well as he could kill Tsunade when she was still shaking - just aim for the neck or the heart. Instead, he just injured her lung and kicked her which is not a big deal for the kind of shinoby like her at all.. Also he helped Anko not accidentally kill herself but it would be way much profitable to let her do it. "Orochimaru has no feelings".

21. The reason he suddenly wanted to kill Tsunade instead of forcing her to heal his arms as it was planned (which is weird since it will not going to get him heals and he kinda said that he wouldn't want to kill her just minutes ago) is that not only she refused to help him (he thought he could work it out) but she also prefered the village over him (from his point of view). Out if everyone she was the closest to being able to understand him since the village caused her painful losses too but nevertheless she agreed to be on it's side.

22. He wasn't fighting her back in the end partly because he thought he deserved that. Somewhere deep inside hahah.

23. Tsunade got a fear to develop deep bonds so they probably weren't very close with Shizune (also the way she knocked her down in this hotel.. oh).

24. Orochimaru will be here when she'll die.

25. Orochimaru's eng dub to Tsunade: "I often wondered what it would be like to ring that pretty neck yours". No comments.

26. Orochimaru is either bi/pan or ace. Anything or nothing lmao

27. Hiruzen knew about at least some of the Oro’s illegal experiments and was okay just as he was okay with the Foundation all the time. Because it’s useful. Then he has discovered he went too far OR he knew everything and oro just became too inconvenient because of his methods. The way Orochimaru tells Sasuke about reasons they are well treated as the criminals is based on in his experience with Hiruzen.

28. As you may know the lyrics in Orochimaru’s music theme goes “don’t talk with the silence of the heart”. It was taken from one Indian song that also had lines like “don’t question life too much”, ”pain arose somewhere in the chest”, “don’t speak to the wounds of the heart”. Though I’m not sure 100% because I was translating it with some hindi dictionary with like zero knowledge of hindi

29. I like to think that this “silence of the heart” theme and the fact that he called his village a hidden sound village are somehow connected. The hidden sound is the possible explanation of all things waiting to be listened to but the truth is silent and you know it deep in your heart and it bothers you. The world is silent just like the life is meaningless but people can only hear. *Sigh* anyways

30. Orochimaru’s journey is the one about accepting death. When he saw Karin released her chains while was trying to get to Sasuke he understood that the death is a part of human’s strength.

Can’t wait to feel that everything I wrote is wrong or not enough or stupid and obvious lol. Anyways, it’s something that I wanted to share until I move to some other fandom.

Hello! Kazuha mentions drinking alcohol and such, and given that nobody would serve aether and lumine alcohol because they are underaged, that's what I use as an indicator for kazuha's age. Sending this in case you didn't see those voice lines. Of course, if you're still uncomfortable writing him then please don't feel obligated to! I love your writing either way!!

First as background info, he's staying on Beidou's ship under her care and she has been shown to be okay with underage drinking with how shes about to let the traveler drink in a voiceline (she’s also okay with other illegal things on multiple occasions, so it’s def not out of character for her)

With that bit of info, there's some signage guest writing in inazuma that seems to be from him before he went on the run that says there's still two years until he can drink

And then the vision hunt was around for about a year, which places him potentially around 17-18? After the inazuma storyline it updates and there seems to be something from the same person again but there's no indication of whether they can drink or not now.

It could go either way tbh and while I think he might be 18, it's still up in the air, also there's the small addition that he's a massive walking shonen protagonist trope

In conclusion:

Mihoyo needs to stop pulling a V*ltron and release ages already especially since they have official ages in honkai. I think it's really weird they're choosing not to when it's so easy.
