Y'all act like he left her so he and Vik could grab a beer and watch The Sopranos together. Viktor was in the hospital dying, of course Jayce left. He came back to Mel right after, he was cuddled up and kissing on her and casually saying the most romantic shit ever to her, she was understanding and empathetic toward him. Nothing about any of that told me that he was faking it with Mel. If he was then he's a terrible person and not in the way that Arcane protagonists are typically terrible people.

Rationalize it all you want but Mel and Jayce's handling in episode eight was booty buttcheeks and not properly telegraphed at all. Regardless of popular headcanon, the actual writing and animation in the show has always said to me that he deeply cares for the both of of them, and the show effectively saying "just kidding he doesn't actually, he only likes Viktor, fuck this ho" was very cowardly and jarringly done. That is all.
