SCREAMIN crying rolling on the ground this is so so good and so precious and really captures that moment so well!! Fun Fact (idk if it's fun or not) but that chapter and that moment was actually my favorite to write there's something about that little dam breaking with a memory of someone caring for you and the reality that you may be losing them. It made me cry a little writing it so I'm so glad you loved it as much as I did <3
Your art as always is INCREDIBLE I'm always swept away, there's so much emotion in the expressions I love it so much.

MORE ART FROM THE DAY THE WORLD BROKE!! by @saladmix, because I love this fic and think about it ALL the time.
This scene made me cry, because, as I've mentioned before I LOVE THIS DUO, and idk just Mikey wanting to help his brother but breaking down in the process and Leo getting over his anger by hugging Mikey, it made me feel SO MUCH, I can't express it very good, there is a reason I draw lol
Anyway, read the fan fic if you haven't, it's an amazing work and I hope to make more art about it <3

BiAsBuck’s ficrec Fraturday
It's November! Hope everyone had an amazing Halloween. NGL October lasted approximately 84 years, and I am so so sleepy, but nevertheless I'm back with a fortnight of fic that I've read and loved recently. As always you can find previous rec lists here. Some light spoilers for the season.
2 November 2024
Buck, naked by @starlingbite has Eddie taking an art class on advice of Frank, but the only class left is a life drawing class. That wouldn't be a problem...except you'll never guess who the model turns out to be! Once again obsessed with the idea of Eddie picking up an artistic hobby, and I loved the both the artistry and the physicality of this fic.
You Can Leave It Late With Me by @ponyregrets oh this concept was delightful! In which Maddie becomes a firefighter and Buck becomes a librarian, running a book club for kids. Eddie, in need of more after school childcare support, enrols Christopher. Sweet and such a lovely character exploration. I loved this AU!
drench yourself in words unspoken by @eddiediazes one from 2022, this has Eddie keeping the fact that he's secretly a famous but anonymous romance novelist a secret from the rest of the 118, but when Buck finds copies of his books hidden in the closet, his secret soon comes out. I loved the way this fic showed Eddie processing his emotions and slowly embracing his sexuality through his fiction.
teach me how to love, and how to stay by @sharpbutsoft the sequel to a previously recc'd fave, aka the Chris finds out about the will fic. This is from Chris' POV and deals with the aftermath. His voice is so strong in this, I love his sarcastic teen thoughts that sometimes sway uncharitably into judgey Diaz mode, but are really his shield from the soft underbelly of wanting his Dad and Buck to be happy and his family and not leave him. He truly gets to say his piece here, whilst still ultimately giving Eddie grace and listening to him, and it's very cathartic.
With Eyes on the Stars and Hands in the Earth by @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels been working my way through all of Lincoln's Halloween fics (read the ghosthunters, were!Buck and were!Eddie fics next!) but this one had me gripped earlier this week. Buck has plant magic, an unusual set of skills that set him apart from most of the natural witches he knows. Eddie is from a long line of witches but doesn't demonstrate magic of his own...but perhaps he's repressing more than just his emotions. Romantic, full of twists, and truly magical.
the kiss that lingers by @greenbergsays 5 times Eddie kisses Buck's birthmark and 1 time he doesn't fic! What I really loved about this one is the way Buck's sense of home in his own body grows with the ever evolving romantic butterflies of Eddie showing him such specific affection.
There’s No Place Like Home-Spun by icewhisper ahhh undiagnosed adhd!Buck being offered learning accommodations by his high school teacher who helps him learn to crochet to keep his hands occupied whilst his mind focuses. Traverses through his personal growth until he ends up at the 118, gifting his creations along the way. But no one exactly realises he's making these himself.
a world to rediscover by @itsactuallycorrine the 'what if Chris DOESN'T come home' fic. In which Chris is a young man, settled and about to get married. Eddie followed him to El Paso to repair their relationship and stayed. They're back on somewhat steady ground, when Chris learns the truth about why Buck is no longer in their lives. His fiance plots with him on how they can fix it. Lovely and complicated and ultimately uplifting despite the premise that initially made my heart go oh no! Worth it.
been broken one too many times by @glorious-spoon an episode coda to 8x05, in which Eddie is struck by the realisation that yes he absolutely *would* kiss Buck if he weren't covered in boils.
That's it for now! Bring on the Eddie-sode.

Do you have any tip (or like a book rec) for composition and/or perspective? I'd like to improve that skills but I dont even know where to start 😭
Oh boy, I'm not sure if the way I do it is the best way 🥲. I avoid studying art like the plague in the traditional sense. I don't look up tutorials, read art books, or use grids for perspectives because I straight up don't understand them. That way of working, where you break down the steps in such a methodical way, doesn't work for me. The few times I've tried to use a grid, it ended up looking so wrong to me, and I couldn't make it work, hah! Whenever I've tried to take a 'study' approach to my art, it has stunted my progress and taken the joy out of it.
I wing it a lot. Sometimes I take photos of various items like cups and books and use them as perspective lines because I like a very tactile and hands-on approach to feeling out the composition in real life. The same goes for reference photos for anatomy —I try to understand it in a physical way by moving around myself and sometimes filming or taking photos of myself, but most of the time, I just wing it!
For this piece, I just closed my eyes and prayed. One of the easiest ways for me to build up a composition, is by stacking things and avoiding the floor (it's basically cheating, hah). It makes it look like you know what you're doing when really, you don't. I stacked the front of the boat in front of the mast, which is in front of the tentacle, and so on. Then I just gradually made things smaller as they moved further away until it felt right, rather than being accurate. And if you tilt the composition a bit (this one tilts a bit to the left) and make the characters overlap, then BAM, it looks like it's all intentional.
Tumblr media
For this one, I took a picture of the bottom corner of my shelf with a wide-angle, to get the floor right because my brain couldn't comprehend it 🤔
Tumblr media
I do study art somewhat by actively observing and breaking down pieces I love that are made by other artists. For example, when I started drawing my comic, I read all of One Piece and Fullmetal Alchemist and took my time to understand their panelling and the tricks they used. I'd stop and look at a page, really taking my time to understand how they were telling the story. I was surprised to find that sometimes they barely drew anything at all for several panels, yet I was never in doubt about who was talking and where they were.
I think, by looking at my art, you can tell that I grew up with Oda's illustrations. I still love how vibrant and well-composed they are, especially how he plays with perspective until it feels right and looks amazing, even if it doesn’t always make anatomical or logical sense. That's the vibe I'm going for as well—just mashing things around until I feel good about it.
One thing that really helped me was letting go of the idea that it has to be perfect or always make sense. For example, this Halloween piece is one of my personal favorites, but if you look at Dakon's foot for too long, you can tell that it's way too small and doesn't match the perspective at all. However, I was satisfied with the overall feeling of the piece, so I just left it.
Tumblr media
The only time I've ever "studied" anything art-related was when I went to film school for animation and learned how to animate in 3D, and let me tell you, what a fucking scam. You can learn all of that, and more, just by watching YouTube videos (which I did, lol).
I feel like that wasn't very helpful at all 😭 Is there a particular piece you're curious about, maybe? I'm always ready to break down my pieces and explain how I go about composing them!

I have found joy in your little show that I rarely find in things. The overwhelming love and care I have not just for these specific characters but for your art and talent as a whole is astounding. I want you to know that your community, the good parts of it, support you in any endeavor you choose to take. Although this project may have blasted your popularity you are 3-dimensional, you are much more than the creator of welcome home. You are a multi-medial, skilled, talented, and strong artistic being. Throughout all of this I have had nothing but the utmost respect for you. I will continue to no matter what. Just know we over at The Welcome Home discord server have been following your art closely and appreciating every detail! Do what is best for you clown, and continue to do so! -Reggie
It's been a while since something has grabbed me like this... Welcome Home is one of the most precious things I have ever seen, the creation has and will it always have a place in my heart. Thank You creator for sharing this piece of you heart with us. But your safety is more important, I hope that you'll be safe. -Jax
"dear clown, from the heart of one fan to many others, i find so much comfort in your project that i hope that even when things just like now are awful, you know that there's people simultaneously supporting you in every step of the way! We can wait however long you believe is necessary, you deserve to feel respected with your own passion project! And with that to a close, i wish you well! Thank you for giving us a grand welcome home!" -gremints
dear clown, you don't know me. i don't know you either. but everything you've been working on? it's changed my life. and i know that sounds cliche and silly, but it's true. you've inspired me to keep working on my own passion projects, to keep going. because of you, i have found a little community to call home. because of you, i have rekindled my love of silliness and color and creativity. i cannot thank you enough. without you, i would not have found the friends i have now. whatever you do, i want you to know that we're here to support it. and i hope that wherever you go, you also find home. - moth
Hi you dont know me but im Bug, one of the mods^^, I just want to start my message with this, Before I found welcome home, everything for me was going downhill, I had lost so much that was important to me in less than 2 weeks, I couldn't get out of bed and I wasn't doing my favorite things anymore. I couldn't even smile, My eyes were tired and heavy from crying. But thanks to you, Clown. Wonderful you..and your beautiful vibrant creation. With characters I saw and adored right away. I've smiled, danced, sang my favorite songs again, met new and amazing friends & began to draw again. I felt happiness faster than I thought I would again. A peace from your life helped heal some of mine and I'm grateful. Your creations bring me and so many others joy, But even then it as not as important as you. Yes It brings many smiles to people and i hope that doesn't sound to overwhelming.. But although we can't fix the issue people have caused you, we can't apologize for those who don't respect the boundaries you've set and we can't take back what others have done we want you to know that no matter what, the good of the community will always Have what's best for you in mind, in our server we make sure all rules are followed and you're privacy and mental health is respected. Take as much time as you need to take it all in, relax, do what's best for clown. 💚 take care of yourself before aything else. We thank you for all you've done already. -Boogerbug
EVERYTHING BELOW WAS SUBMITTED BY MEMBERS !!
Hi Clown! Just another rando passing through! While I have known about your artwork for a few years now, I never dove into it until Welcome Home became popular, and I genuinely love the vision you have. Your other artwork is also phenominal and genuinely inspires me, and it always has, even before I discovered the Welcome Home website. Your character designs are impeccable, the way you portray the muppets is genuinely awesome and brings back a lot of good memories, as I grew up watching puppet shows. Explains one reason I enjoy your work doesn't it?Despite making godly artwork, people forget that you are a human like the rest of us. Most people who become famous or popular because of something they have done experience this and it is unfortunate, but there are some of us that know you have a life and are already struggling. Take the time you need to rejuvinate yourself and try not to let these people get to you, as hard as it is to do, as even I still struggle with this daily. These are your creations, and you deserve to have control over what happens with them, and the disrespect this slowly growing fanbase has for your requests is terrible. Hoping that things eventually improve on your end, especially since you already aren't in a safe environment, something I also understand. I've already planned on throwing some bucks at you through Ko-Fi once I open my new bank account, and even if I cant, I still want to help prove that you are worthy and deserve better than this. You are incredibly talented and I hope to see Welcome Home and all of your other works of art flourish over time! - Sunnie/Mizo
Now onto the big reveal....

Smudged pages (Wild)
Tumblr media
This is the 1st place prize from my 300 follower event. @daeyumi requested this one, and it took longer than I'd like, but I'm pleased with how it's turned out.
Pairing: Wild x reader
Rating: G
Summary: Wild loves when you draw- so he decides to leave you a little gift in your sketch book.
Warnings: None
Other: Wild is so sappy, y'all- if I missed anything, please let me know
-------
You are an artist - you carry a sketchbook around everywhere. It may be in your bag sometimes, but still.
You find it helps to be able to create art while struggling to stay above the water that is this hylia damned quest.
Between creating art and the lover you've found- you're handling things better than you thought you would be.
Wild has seen you draw before - you like to draw by the fire at night. You've even shown him things on occasion. The odd bird sketch or colored plant life. Or even just half finished lines that didn't quite work out.
He likes to sit beside you while you create - it always calms him a little.
The way your hands are often covered in smudged art supplies is more than endearing. He likes that there's proof of a hobby you enjoy so much. Wild likes to take your hands and trace them while he counts the smudges of charcoal or pencil or paint or whatever you've used this time.
If he has a few pictures of you with art supplies smudged on your forehead - well, that's really not really anyone's buissness. (He will, of course, delete them and stop taking pictures if you ask, he dosen’t want to make you uncomfortable.)
He definitely smiles when he sees that sight, though. Wild has always loved when you allow yourself to just exist.
He's continually amazed by your skill. He looks forward to when you share your art with him. It always takes his breath away.
(You take his breath away.)
So far, his favorite piece you've done was of Epona, with flowers in her mane and a water colore-esque background. It's beautiful, and when you'd shown it to him and Twilight, they had both loved it.
Wild has a picture of that one on his slate, saved to a special folder for your creations.
Other works of yours he has saved in that folder include a sketch of him cooking with fireflies around him, a river landscape, and a sketch of all of the boys and you. There are more, of course, but those are the ones he treasures the most.
Tonight finding you is pretty easy. You're all staying at an inn.
The others split into groups. Though they are all settled across the backyard of said inn, chatting happily amongst themselves.
He spots you talking to Time and Legend by the stairs.
Before he can walk over, he hears his name and stops.
"Hey, Wild?" Twilight asks as he walks over.
"Yes?"
"Do you have any more mushroom skewers? A kid was asking about them."
Wild snorts, resigning himself to helping Twilight entertain the kids.
He'll catch up with you later. You have all night.
This gives him more time to figure out what he can give you as a gift. He doesn't have a particular reason, but he wants to anyway.
He can always ask Sky and Time for advice - as long as he doesn't ask Wind.
The sailor is smart and kind - but the last time Wind gave relationship advice, it was clear that he was still a little young. (It wasn't bad advice perse but none of the others thought that 'shmoopie' was what they wanted to call a partner.)
Wild sets himself to the task of finding the mushroom skewers within his slate, careful to pick the ones that won't give a side effect if eaten.
-------
It's not until after the inn has provided dinner that Wild realizes he hasn't seen you in a while.
In fact, Wild hasn't seen you since you arrived at the inn, and neither have Hyrule or Sky when he asks them.
It's not exactly worrying, but he does find himself a little anxious. He knows this isn't your hyrule, and he's always worried you'll get left behind - which he knows is silly.
And he definitely trusts you- but anxiety has never cared about logic.
He takes a deep breath, reminding himself that not only are you more than capable of taking care of yourself - this seems to be a fairly peaceful time.
He relaxes a little, the reminder doing him a little good.
After looking around a little more, Wild finds you sitting on your own with your sketch pad.
You look fairly at peace, sitting on a large rock by the inn. The lowering sun shines across you in a flattering way.
Wild smiles softly when he sees you. He's very happy to see that you look so content. He has to resist the urge to snap a picture. (A habit he's picked up after losing his memories. He wants to have pictures of everything he cares about, so if he forgets, he dosen’t lose it all.)
Wild walks over to you and sits down beside you. He's just glad to be around his beloved partner.
"Hey Wild." You greet, looking up from your work with a smile.
"Hey, (Y/n)."
"It's a nice evening. It makes me jealous of your all's times." You say with a wry laugh.
"It's still odd to think you can't see the stars back home."
"Mh- I guess. It's always been that way, though." The shrug you give is nonchalant.
Wild gives you a surprised look, brows raising as he tries to imagine such a thing.
He can't. Your world sounds foreign and impossible to him. And yet- you exist as the pinnacle of your home.
He supposes he's glad that ypur home existed - as odd as ot seems to him because you would've exist without it.
Wild looks back to the sky - back to the stars.
"That sounds absurd." He says with a snort.
"It feels like that these days."
"Huh."
You look back to whatever you were working on and put a few more artistic strokes down.
"Do you think I'll ever learn all the strange constellations you have?"
Wild looks to you after you ask that, something warm swelling in his chest. "I can teach you."
"I'd like that."
The delighted look that crosses his face is definitely something to remember. It's amazing how easily he goes all smitten and fond around you.
-------
It's not until later that evening that Wild sees your unattended sketch book. And he has - an idea. One that he hopes will make you smile.
What if he puts something in your sketch book for you?
A doodle?
A note?
A portrait of how he sees you?
All three?
Maybe just the portrait and the note. Maybe if you see yourself through his eyes, you'll see why he's so fond of you.
Wild knows that you get self-conscious sometimes. He'd like to help.
His decision is made.
He thinks this is exactly the kind of give to leave you. Non pressuring and personal.
Wild picks up your art book and begins his work.
He takes a moment to try to picture what he wants to draw.
What angles? Should he include a background? Should it be flat or shoukd he add depths and shadows?
Once he knows what he wants to draw, he sets to work.
First, he starts with a light pencil sketch of you. First your head, then your neck and shoulders, then your features. He pays special attention to the skine in your eyes.
It takes him a while, but eventually, he finishes his work, erasing the guidelines and putting in shadows and highlights.
He writes his note, and then he closes the sketchbook.
He will wait until you find it.
He silently hopes he can see your face when you do, though. He also hopes that it makes you smile. He does love your smile.
-------
You are taking a break by a creek, a little ways from the others when you find the two pages Wild left something for you.
The first is a picture of you - all done in pencil, and yet there's no lack of detail.
You can tell that every line, smudge, and stray erased part is full of love and until fondness.
You are posed in a three-quarters view, laughing as your eyes look straight to the viewer of the art.
The background is filled with your favorite flowers, all carefully done.
It's like looking at yourself through a softened lense. Your eyes seem brighter, and your laugh is more genuine.
It's unbearably soft.
The shadows are carefully done, and
You know, without asking or even looking at the note that this is Wild's work.
You wish you weren't so touched by how he's chosen to portray you. Not because it dosen’t matter but so you could better find words to express the feeling.
Then you look to the note.
'(Y/n),
I don't think I've told you how much I love your art. Not enough, at least.
I'm not sure that I can ever tell you how much both you and your art mean to me. I don't know how you feel about it, but I've always seen your art as an extension of you.
You made it after all.
Your art is so amazing. I'm always excited when you let me see what you've made.
I hope you can see yourself through my eyes now. And I hope this isn't rude to do- but I wanted to do this.
I wanted you to know how much you matter to me. I'm so thankful to have you in my life.
I wish we could have met a more natural way- but I'd fight the shadow the rest of my life if it meant I get to have you in said life.
I will treasure every single picture of you I have. You're so stunning - it takes my breath away every time I see you smile.
I appreciate that you go out of your way to make things easier for all of us.
I appreciate it when you stay up on watch with me even though you don't have to.
I hope you know how much it means to me that you treat me like a person outside of being a hero. Thank you.
I am going to keep trying every day to make sure you know how wonderful you are.
And I hope you know that I love you for you, not for what you do.
I love your sense of humor, your smile, and the way you interact with others.
You're my safe place - if that makes sense? I hope it does.
Anyway, I know this is probably silly, but I thought it might make you smile.
Love, Wild.'
Oh- that's really sweet! You need to find him and thank him and maybe kiss him just a little. (Maybe more.)
You can't ignore the way your chest warms, and your adoration flutters like a butterfly.
This is truly lovely - you've never had someone do this for you before. But it's super sweet, and you are head over heels all over again.
(Maybe ass over tea kettle is a better descriptor if we're going to be honest. But that's just between you and Hylia.)
You close the sketchbook carefully before moving to find Wild.
Finding the man is easy enough - he's cooking lunch.
You walk over to Wild, and the sketchbook is still in hand.
"Hey, firefly." Wild smiles at you, stirring the stew before him. He seems to be at ease for the most part.
"I saw the note and picture you left me."
You watch his reaction - his ears flush a little, and he looks a little like a deer in headlights.
But he relaxes enough to say, "Oh! I hope you liked it! I hope it wasn't too weird..."
"I loved it - it's one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me!"
You pull him into a hug, beaming at him.
You can't find the words you want, but you really hope Wild can tell just how much you love his little gift.
You'll hold onto it forever - you should get it framed when this is all over. That's a good idea.
"I'm glad you liked it. I'm not that great at art -"
"You're amazing at art. What are you talking about?"
"Purah and Zelda are better than me. I'm not the best. But I get by. I don't think I'm awful." Wild explains with a shrug.
"You're amazing at it."
Wild laughs, shaking his head a little. But he dosen’t defelct, instead he just says, "Thank you, (Y/n). I appreciate that."
"I mean it."
"I know."
Wild, let's the spoot rest on the pot, turning to fully face you. He's so thankful you're in his life. And he's so glad you liked his surprise.
"After dinner, we can work on those constellations." You say as you smile at him.
"That sounds nice." He smiles.
"So... could I ask you to draw me again later? I ... have never seen myself the way you made me look."
Wild softens more, which seems impossible until it happens.
And everything is - well maybe it isn't perfect but it's very nice.

Hey! I recently started creating some fanart (only Annabeth yet) after wanting to do so for years. I'm not really good yet though since I suck at anatomy/ bodies and drawing anything other than still art in general.
I've been following you for a while and I REALLY love your art style. I was wondering if you had any tips for newbies like me?
P.s. Here's a pic of my first ever Annabeth drawing! Pretty generic but I think it could have gone worse.
Tumblr media
Hi!! first of all that’s so adorable and I love it ur art style is so cute!!
Secondly, im not very good at tips haha i’m honored you even asked me! But the advice I can usually give is study anatomy and always use references! Developing your own style takes time, and it’s ok to experiment and figure out how you like to draw.
Every artist has their own way to color, sketch, lineart, shade, etc. Finding your own way to draw bodies and faces is an amazing part of learning how to draw, it doesn’t always have to be realistic as well! Figuring out your own style and little tips and tricks is what makes art so beautiful. Every persons drawings are different, and it’s ok if yours don’t look exactly like the reference 😊
Also, be patient! Art takes time. It’s a skill that requires a lot of time and effort. I still get frustrated when my art doesn’t look like someone else’s and it’s extremely draining comparing your work to others. Starting to draw is the first step in creating your own unique style, dont focus on how your art pieces don’t look exactly like others
I hope this was a little bit helpful, pls keep drawing!! you’re already so amazing at it

can you do another male reader X hikaru Hitachiin? maybe like the reader is an artist and Hikaru finds him doing graffiti in a hidden spot in Ouran? idk where it would go from there but i think itd be neat if he joined in or smth :) (take it however you want im sure whatever you write will be super cool!)
Thank you for the compliment! This was fun to write. You know I tried doing graffiti. It's a lot harder then others make it out to be. Enjoy!
Hikaru Hitachiin x Male Reader
Graffiti Artist
Tumblr media
When Hikaru heard about someone graffiting the school he wasn't surprised. He knew people get bored. When they get bored they do something to get unbored. So he wasn't surprised. No what surprised him was how much detail was in it. It was of a forrest. Trees, bushes, and a trail. He had seen some of the graffiti on his way to the club.
He could tell the person who made this was really into art. This type of detail took time and skill. Such skill that he knows took years to have. He remembers asking his mom how she got so good at designing and drawing the clothing she makes. "Time and effort. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember." Drawing never caught either twins attention.
But Hikaru always had an eye for detail. At least that's what his mother always told him. When he heard the graffiti artist hit again he brushed it off again. He had more important things to do. At least that's what he thought until he actually saw it. The graffiti art this time was Koi fish. The way the artist had made them looked like actual koi fish.
When the artist sticked a 3rd time Hikaru was excited to see what was drawing this time. This time the artist had graffitied the wall outside the club room. This time it was a beach with a beautiful sunset. Hikaru could stare at the artwork for hours. He took out his phone and snapped a photo. He should've tooken pictures of the other two.
A week later Hikaru was taking a walk out in the rose garden behind the school. It was peaceful. The only thing you could hear was the sounds of birds chirping and spray paint-wait. Hikaru froze. Spray painting? The graffiti artist! Hikaru hurred towards the noise. He had to know who was the artist. When he arrived he saw what was the most amazing artwork he'd seen yet.
It was of a single rose. The rose was covered in thorns. Ivy surrounded it. It wasn't finished yet but it was already breath taking. He heard a can shaking. When he turned he saw a (height) tall male. With (color) hair and eyes. He was (short/tall) for someone Hikaru's age but....he was breath taking too. He could see how bright the males eyes are.
How happy he looks spray painting. Hikaru released a breath he didn't know he was holding. The males head snapped in Hikaru's direction and he froze. Eyes wide with fear. He'd been caught. The male grabbed the bag that was by the wall and took off. Leaving a can of red spray paint. Hikaru tried calling out to him but the male already disappeared.
Hikaru picked up the can and on the side written in black fancy letters was (N. Last Name). Hikaru nodded his head. He now had a mission but first. Hikaru looked up at the wall. He had a piece to finish. Hikaru shook the can and got to work. Finishing the rose. Looking around once in a while to see if anyone had came out.
Half an hour later Hikaru heard foot steps and froze. He whipped his head around only to see the guy from earlier with a blush on his face as he stared at the wall. "Y-You finished it?" Hikaru nodded with a smile. "Yeah. I'm a pretty big fan of your work. I thought such art didn't deserve to go unfinished. I'm not as good as you, but my mom always told me I had an eye for details."
The guys nodded and looked away and took a deep breath. "Thank you. I'm (Name). (Last Name) (Name.)" He stuck out his hand. Which was covered in green spray paint. Hikaru smiled brightly and grabbed his hand. "Hitachiin Hikaru. Nice to meet you (Last Name)." Hikaru looked at their joined hands and laughed. They were both covered in spray paint. (Name) looked down and join in the laughing.
"We might wanna go and clean ourselves before we're caught." Hikaru nodded. "Yeah. Although I'm kinda screwed. I have club in about an hour and I don't have an extra uniform on me." (Name) looked shyly to the side. "You can have my extra uniform. It's in my locker. It's by the host club room." Hikaru's face lit up. "That's my club!"
(Name) looked surprised before smiling brightly. "I have a close friend in th club! Kyoya!" Hikaru froze. Perfect student Kyoya was friends with the graffiti artist? (Name) knew the look Hikaru was giving him causing him to laugh again. "We're neighbors. He knows about the whole graffiti thing. He's the one who gave me permission to graffiti the wall outside the club room!" Hikaru was even more shocked. Kyoya gave him permission?
"It gave him more customers." Hikaru nodded. That sounds like Kyoya. "Hey you did a good job finishing my piece. We should graffiti together again sometime." Hikaru smiled and nodded. "I'd love to make more art with you." (Name)'s face exploded with heat. Hikaru looked confused before he remembered what he said. "W-Wait! Not like that!" (Name) shook his head and laughed harder and Hikaru joined in.
Maybe in the future (Name) could help Hikaru with the family business. If they're still close by then at least. Hikaru blushed at his thought. Yeah...maybe one day.

very random question but making the whole recent animatic you did (which was AMAZING btw) how do you feel about it in terms of progress you've made on your art skill? because like I've also very recently started getting into making animatics and it seems like a constant flow of working on the art and personally I've felt a shift in how I approach making normal pieces of art, so I was just wondering how much of that feeling would be there for you after finishing such a big project? I'm sorry if that didn't make sense lskdjfal i just kinda want you to talk and ramble about your thoughts and all during making the animatic sjskla
-🍪
no one's ever asked me about this stuff before, so buckle up because this might turn into a lengthy fucking ramble
to start, if we were to talk about progress, I'd have to talk about it more in retrospective than just my latest animatic. it's been three years since I started animating, and this particular animatic was more of a silly and short side project, I didn't put much thought into it really.
before diving into animation, I had a foundation in graphic design, four years at a tech school. this gave me a strong grasp of the basics and by that I mean visuals, colours, composition, and more. but yeah, when you transition to animation your view on art definitely shifts, at least mine did. because animation, at its core, is storytelling through visuals. so you're basically delving into film, and now you're not just thinking about static elements, you're considering movement, pacing, cinematography, even sound design. and as an animator, you're the director, the cinematographer, the storyboard artist, and the editor. each role requires specific skills. you need an understanding of visual storytelling, character design, motion graphics, timing, and so on and so on! and you're learning them along the way as you work on your projects. I'm learning all that still, and if you take a look at how my animatics looked in 2020 and now it's so much progress. HELL, both in my animation AND my drawings.
if you really think about this riptide animatic in retrospection you're basically seeing 10 years of my hard work on perfecting those skills combined into one silly video lol BUT without it, for me it's just silly thing that I did and I'm just glad people seem to like it, I'm not dwelling on progress here
now, when it comes to how I feel after finishing a project? in general? it's a mix. there's a sense of achievement, sure. like here I have to mention my short film again. I spent a whole year on it, mostly working on my own but with some guidance from my thesis supervisor. the film is 7 minutes long, and I worked on animating it from march to august. and when I compare the start to the finish, I can SO clearly see the improvement, both in terms of skill and artistic vision. BUT I also tend to look back and think about what I could've done better or differently. and while I see areas for improvement, this self-critique pushes me to get better with each project. eeeh it's a bit of a love-hate relationship with my work really. that's how it always been for me lol

Today is like to attempt to discuss the rather nebulous tag of #clown husbandry in the hopes that more people will take an interest in this hobby. After an interview with the pillar of this humble community, @clownology4dummies I feel qualified to discuss both clownology from the context of the hobbies as well as present the topic to baffled newcomers.
This blog is intended as both an introduction for outsiders peering into our curious circus tent as well as a guide for first timers and advanced clown collectors and breeders. Please enjoy and if you have any corrections for me please don't hesitate to comment!
What is Clown Husbandry?
To begin with, let's look at the tag from a removed perspective. Clown Husbandry is a tag that involves collectors of clown characters. Anyone who know even just a little about historical clown should know that the art depends heavily on crafting a unique and colorful character. Character here is the keyword as art of clowns are rich with strong personalities and carefully thought out design.
People you will find operating within this tag either collect clown dolls and figures or they are artistic individuals that create clown "ocs" (original characters). Often times they are both as clown figures and ocs are both a joy to write about, draw, and to photograph.
Lastly, clowns in the context of this tag usually don't refer to traditional clowns; they aren't people who dress up as clowns. Rather the dolls and drawings are usually a unique species of creature that can be thought of as an elemental of clowning. This is an important note as many posts discuss care details and talk about clowns similar to breeds of animals. While they are intelligent and look like real clowns that are people, these clowns are delicate creatures that require dedicated care.
Think of the figurine branch of clown husbandry as a less dull version of the 1980s "pet rock" trend. Rather than try to imagine a rock needs care, enthusiasts give life to already colorful and imaginative dolls and collectable.
How to Enjoy Clown Husbandry
The best way to get started with this tag is to explore posts already on tumblr. In short order the style of posting becomes obvious; users show off their drawings or photos of their figures and talk about the characters similar to an exotic pet. Clowns in this context are alike specialty dog breeds as they require differing amounts of exercise, entertainment, special diet and so on. There is even advice on which "breeds" are best for beginners.
As a lifelong artist and someone who's been writing about a Clown oc for the past three years I deeply enjoy the art in this tag. It's amazing and heartwarming to see others create and enjoy clown ocs. Even more though, as someone who grew up in a house full of antiques I'm delighted to see people become interested in collecting these often overlooked tiny art pieces.
Clown collectables are found in just about every corner of the world. Due to the popularization of coulrophobia and the availability of clown art, more and more these pieces are abandoned or trashed. It's a tragedy as clowns play an important role in the human subconscious and moreover these antiques are beautiful and often are handmade. It fills my heart with joy to see so many figures and dolls find their forever home with collector enthusiasts and it's a trend I hope grows steadily.
How to Get Started with Clown Husbandry
Beyond exiting the delightful and silly posts that are already put there, consider joining the hobby yourself.
Making a Clown OC
If you are thinking about making a Clown oc, consider starting within the context of a game such as Dungeons & Dragons or another ttrpg. This will give you an immediate way to interact with your character beyond just doodling them.
If you're looking for tips on creating a character, it's always to start in reality. Clowning has a rich tradition of character creating which involves design elements, skills, and behaviors. Clown Ethics is a great start, although the rules laid out form a basic guideline more than strict laws. Beyond this, consider watching the Ringling Bros "How to be a Clown".
Starting a Clown Collection
As noted, clown art is just about everywhere. However in more modern times audiences have drifted away from appreciating classic comedy. As a result, many pieces are vintage if not genuine antiques. Some even hold significant value as they are crafted by famous artisans. As a result, it's quite easy and fun to start a clown collection.
Treat yourself to regular adventures at junk stores and antique malls. You're sure to spot a colorful little friend hiding in amongst the clutter. Look for styles and designs that appeal to you and start adopting these tiny treasures. Soon you will have a unique and joyful troupe of your own.
The best figures to collect are ones that are less likely to be destroyed by interactions. Dolls with only a few porcelain pieces are ideal for moving around and photographing. The smaller the better if you want to try a travel or lifestyle photo series. You'll be able to pop your own into a carry bag and take them with you.
If you're after more rare prices, consider obtaining a safe storage spot first. I mentioned the need for a hutch previously in my post about "Pedigree Clown Breeds". Quality clown sculptures are just as pricey as any other antique so they should be put on display rather than handled.
In closing, clown husbandry is a delightful hobby that involves appreciation for tradition, antiquing, and art. I hope this post inspires you to collect and draw clowns. If you decide to take up the hobby, please be sure to use the #clown husbandry tag so we can all enjoy your wonderful photography and characters!

'Ello, me again lol
This time I'm after art tips because I really want to get better at art and yours is so amazing.
Awwww thank you so much!!
I've been drawing digitally ever since 2015, and am entirely self-taught. I never went to art school, and I learned most of the techniques that I use now just from watching hours and hours worth of speedpaints from my favorite artists while in high school!
With regards to things like anatomy and more fundamental stuff, I learned a lot by watching Aaron Blaise's tutorials. He sells them on his website and quite often does really good deals (I purchased a toooon of them for like $10 total during the pandemic). For those that don't know of his work, he is a professional artist and animator who has done a ton of stuff for Disney (he animated for Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and directed Brother Bear!)
As for my own personal advice when it comes to improving art, I learned the most by drawing fanart. So, SO much fanart. In high school, I pretty much only drew dragons. The one exception was the little bit of Homestuck fanart I did - that was the one thing that pushed me to start practicing humanoids more often.
The best way to get better at art is simply to just do it A LOT. A LOOOOOT. And the best way to do a lot of art without hating the process? Find a piece of media you really like and draw fanart for it!
My fanart was shiiiiiiiiiiiiit for the first few years. Truly. But nonetheless, I still drew nearly every day, and posted almost all of it to my deviantArt account at the time. I got a ton of constructive critiques as well as encouragement from other artists at the time, and that really helped to keep me motivated!
As I got better, I started to branch out into doing commissions. Doing paid work really motivated me to take my time when drawing things that were outside of my comfort zone (like landscapes, for example), and I always put in a ton more effort and detail into my commissions than my personal work or fanart. It helped me to grow my skills a TON.
But yeah! I started out just by looking at the work of other artists I admired and took inspiration from their artstyles, then just drew a bunch of fanart, and, most importantly, KEPT GOING.
The worst thing you can do as an artist is to constantly compare yourself to others like it's some kind of competition, or to see someone's work and say "I'll never draw like that". All that does is de-motivate you. Instead, what I grew to start doing, is to compare my art where it is right now to my OWN art from previous months/years.
I have kept ALL of my old art up on my deviantArt page (yes, even that really bad Homestuck fanart from 2015) as a reminder of how far I've come, as well as a reminder to other aspiring artists that we all start somewhere. The most important thing is to just get started and to have fun with your work! Do art because you enjoy it. Draw cringy shit. Draw ship art. Draw your ancient sparkledog OC from 2012. Just do it! You'll be happier for it :)

I was encouraged by you letting another user use one of your Ezra babies as their avatar/icon, wondering if I may use the "confused" one with the missing arm?
His loss of arm is so important (to me) as a part of his character and I love that so many of your pieces have it missing when so many artists either only draw on prosthetics or two arms for him, as if it wasn't the major character shift of the movie (I know he's looking for his mod in this based on your other parts of this post, but I love his confused face so much)
I understand if not! Regardless, I love your absolutely squishable little Ezra's and the sheer serotonin I find your feed gives me drive some days to continue my Ezra/Din/reader fic!
Tumblr media
Of course you can use it. Thank you for asking! :)
I completely agree with that. I have a very personal connection to Ezra and his lifealtering loss. Losing skill and ability that you've been relying on for your entire life is such a dreadful experience.
It takes time to accept, learn and wrap your head around the idea of 'replacement' and come to terms with the relization that it will, despite that, never be like it was before.
Still, Ezra is Ezra, not giving up, and with or without prosthesis, he's whole and amazing either way. I try to portray that.
Regardless of that, there are some stunning takes on his prosthetic arm in fanart. I'm always amazed by how differently people picture it and how all of them look unique and fitting to his character and the world he lives in.
It makes me insanely happy to read that my sketches serve to spark a smile or two and spur on creativity and motivation for the creation and continuation of amazing fanwork. 💜💜

For the artist meme -- 20 and 6! 🎨 if you like xx
20. how often do you get art block?
all the time 🥰 it's like clockwork lol sometimes i get sooo frustrated and cranky bc i hate all my art and i'm like "woe is me!! i've lost all my skills!! i'll never draw again!!" and then i'm like wait . i know what's happening here. i just gotta wait it out I'll be fine lol. it's nice that i also write bc then i can switch to writing for a while until the art block clears up 👍 i've found it's best for me to just take a break from drawing for a bit and not try to force it so my brain can like reset itself
6. tag your favorite artists/inspirations!
oh man there are so many!!!! i could name like 100 people lol but i'm gonna limit myself to the ones i think have had the most direct influence on my art style. hope u guys don't mind the tags<3
@ileniagennari was one of the first artists i latched onto stylewise. i used to study their work a lot because i am obsessed with the fluidity and softness of their linework and i just really like how they draw faces and bodies. their rendering is also amazing and feels sort of cinematic somehow? i've always wished my art could have a similar feel!
@anna-scribbles has also been a huge style influence for me and she's just also been a big inspiration in general as a close friend<3 i ADORE her work and have studied it specifically a ton. she draws the most blorby blorbos ever. blorbyness is her art trademark imo. and i want that for me too so i tried to steal it. i also think just sheer proximity to her and her art has made me pick up a lot of things from her automatically haha. in particular, i feel like the way she draws smiles is so perfect, and i always try to channel her when i draw smiles myself haha
@ladybeug inspires me so much and has taught me really valuable art skills! a while ago i came to a point in my art journey when i felt just really stuck and frustrated. like i could not for the life of me just DOODLE. i took everything too seriously, even if it was supposed to be simple and silly. i really needed to learn how to loosen up and enjoy drawing more. stephanie is like the most esteemed and delightful doodler i know so i came to her for advice and she DELIVERED. she gave me super helpful tips and invited me to make daily comics with her and it's been lifechanging! it's helped me focus on communication over perfection and feel more confident in my art, which i think had a visible difference in my style too. i learn SO much from just regularly enjoying stephanie's work, including her webcomic @datmcomic!!
@rileyclaw is a good buddy of mine and his work is so hugely inspiring to me! it's really educational to see his wips and learn from his process. and since he's an incredible animator as well as an illustrator, enjoying his work is part of what inspired me to finally take a leap and make my first animatic. i really love how he pushes/exaggerates body and facial expression to communicate emotion and how he makes such careful choices about comp and color and just Everything to tell a whole story with every piece of his art. i've learned a lot from riley on the storytelling aspects of art and that's something i continue to try to build on!
@knockknockknockingonhootysdoor's art is like an instant and intense shot of dopamine to my brain every time!!! i cant even tell you how HAPPY it makes me. i just stare at it and eat it all up and i'm always asking myself HOW does he do it?? how does he make me feel this way. and i think it's just like....how genuine it is?? i can just feel kryan's love for the story and characters in the way he draws and im not sure that is a stealable quality lol. but in particular something i really admire about his art is how SHAPE it is. i love how he builds each character with different shapes and how each design feels so unique and so fitting for them. i am trying to incorporate that more into my own art!
man i already have rambled so much and there are so many other artists i could go on and on about alskjdfjkla ok just real quick i have to shout out @picayunearts bc i intensely enjoy her work in both the ml and toh fandoms and her coloring and use of light and gradient always stands out to me so i kinda try to channel that sometimes! @smallpapers is another fav and i love how soft and simple her art feels! it's always inspiring to me. @raystel's work also inspires me a lot, whether it's fanwork or original stuff. she is so creative with character design and seeing the way she expresses her ideas in art is so cool!
and i would be remiss if i didn't shout out my sister @mozzys-studio who is the first person i came to when i wanted to learn how to draw and she taught me a lot! her art is beautiful<3
thanks for the questions! :D

6, 9, 18, 22, & 23 for the artist asks! ❤️
6. Which artists inspire you right now? -oough I have so many inspirations all the time, but hmm, the biggest ones right now...probably thatskidding, Nonny, drunkenfix, and kiiarts! And also, this should go without saying, but all of my amazing friends inspire me daily, seriously I have the most talented group of besties TAT 💖💖💖💖💖
9. What are you currently trying to improve? -mmm I'd say perspective? That's always been a weakness of mine I feel - I think I've gotten a bit better at making my posing more dynamic but I still tend to draw everyone facing straight on more or less...I'd like to work on more complex perspective. Also backgrounds but that's an eternal struggle |D
18. Do you have any larger projects you’d like to pursue? Like comics, shortfilm, a series etc? -ouuugh I'd really like to make animatics set to music again.....I used to make sketchy ones in college and I have SO many ideas in my head for important songs (I always have AMVs playing in my head lol) but I'd kind of like to make one that's beyond just sketches...it'd take a lot of work and I'd need to learn video editing skills as well (my old ones I just used Windows Movie Maker lol, which isn't bad, but to capture the vision in my head the editing would need to be more dynamic) which feels like a tall order atm, BUT! someday...I'd really like to do that TuT
22. When is your prime time to work on your art? -either early in the morning or late at night 😂 I feel like I'm freshest in the morning so if I get started on drawing then it's easy to make it an all-day affair, but there are also times when inspiration strikes later at night and I just have to get it down...additionally the weekend is much easier for me to focus on stuff lately. But I try to at least sketch stuff every day!
23. Do you listen to music or watch shows while you work? If so, what’s your favourite? -oh yes, I must have something on in the background while I work! if it's a piece that was specifically inspired by a song I usually have the song in question on loop while I work lol, but otherwise I tend to watch a lot of video essays! Typically ones I've seen before so I don't have to pay full attention - most recently I've made my way through all of hazel's videos (her stuff is great) but I can't go wrong with old favorites from hbomberguy, Folding Ideas, Jenny Nicholson, etc etc.
Thank you for the asks Phoeeeeeee 💖💖💖💖

how. is your art so amazing. every single drawing I see for asau is absolutely adorable how do you (and Mizu because her art is also so freaking good) like how are you guys so good at it?/gen ive been practicing for years and mine really… sucks :((( I adore the way you draw Legend he’s very cool looking
From what I’ve experienced, generally what not liking your art means is that you have a really keen eye for what you want out of your drawings, and just haven’t gotten your hands to pick up the muscle memory yet. Thank you so much for the compliments, but please don’t talk down about your own skill. Art is a learning journey, and you’re training several parts of your body to work in tandem with each other. Your mind and imagination, your eyes, and your hands! It’s not easy! Take it easy on yourself and spend some time just browsing through artwork you like, and pick it apart. Anatomy with one artist perhaps, color with another! See if you can piece together how they do things, how they pose, how they layout their work. You might even start noticing places where someone made a small mistake. (My artwork is riddled with them lol) then, try to start replicating the stuff you learned. Go slow and be nice to yourself! It’s a process!
-Mizu
i wholly agree with mizu. we've both been drawing for a long-ass time, myself probably like.... 10 years consistently, and it really is a process. i only started really liking my art once i started drawing with mizu a lot, and we've been friends for like two years, so less than that really. it's always a cycle of loving and hating your art, and it takes a shitton of practice, so don't beat yourself up about it. we're all at different places in our art journey and just because you don't like your art doesn't mean that someone else won't! honestly i'm still surprised when people say they like my work???? it's surreal. so we're all kinda in the same boat. when you compare yourself to others you think are more skilled than you, you're ignoring all the hard work you've put in to get to the point you're at.

Puddle of Progress
We are NEVER stagnant!
By Gwen Hall - Art Director of Rockin' Racket (2024)
As Rockin’ Racket looks forward to its Springtime launch and subsequent updates this March, one thing that keeps shoveling coal into my creative furnace is an amazing thing called “progress”. What defines our progress as creatives? Is it how close we are to our end goal, or how far we are from the start? What defines our success – Sales? Publicity? Completion? As an artist, progress sometimes feels extremely stagnant, and we are always told that progress is not linear. Sometimes, we are still. Sometimes, we get stuck. How do we overcome art block, or keep from feeling like we have fallen from grace?
I have taken myself seriously as an artist for about 10 years now, and I am proud to say I am one of the many lucky ones who can say I have drawn since I could hold a utensil. Of course, this does not keep me from comparing myself to others. As consumers and makers of media in a society that values both quality AND quantity, it’s so easy to become overwhelmed by comparison. However, in consuming media, we are exposed to many images that can subliminally inspire us to try new things, draw features a certain way, learn tricks to work faster, to grow.
Check out this piece of fan art I made in 5th grade. I have never known another person to talk about Happy Happy Clover, but surely it had some effect on me (look at the game I’m working on)!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Progress. How we improve and grow is not a one-way street, unfortunately. At times it can feel as if we move backward. While in college, studying game art and illustration, I literally could not tell you about art that I was proud of or made for myself for the first 3 years of a 4-year degree program. A majority of my passion was directed toward assignments that lacked value in my eyes or were -- for lack of a better image-evoking term -- entirely half-assed. Burnout imminent, I tuned out of my personal practice. Only recently I made time for myself to enjoy what I do. What did I do in the past 3 years, and how did I maintain skill? I made no visible progress, so how did I improve?
I’m sure artists are very familiar with a rendition of this progress graph. I know I keep this in the back of my mind at all times:
Tumblr media
While I was not actively putting my nose to the grindstone, I watched a lot of television, animated or otherwise, from 2020 to 2023. I'm sure a considerable portion of the globe was right there with me. While doomscrolling, pressing "continue watching", or staring at myself wistfully in the mirror for hours just to keep myself from rotting in bed, I was studying. I promise this goes somewhere!
When we take in media, we also subliminally absorb messaging, images, and ideologies. In an advertisement-heavy social sphere, of course, this is how the best ads grab our attention. As artists, other things grab our attention: colors, forms, textures, etc. Every day for three years, I could not make myself make time to enjoy making something, but I was always looking for that something that kick my butt into gear.
We see before we can execute. When we execute before we can see, or draw without reference before having a reference in mind, we can get messy. This is true no matter the skill level. Here is a recent redraw I worked on, more fan art of course:
Tumblr media
While I might not have had an exact reference present, I was (and am) able to apply fundamentals that I collected from looking at other art, other movement, and other life. Fundamentals are the building blocks of every practice, but so is participating in communities circling those practices. As makers of visual media, we never exist in a vacuum. One thing that I have learned from being an artist is that we are always learning for each other, even when we are not actively "making".
Progress is never stagnant, and even the most still puddles are picked up by the water cycle.
Check out Rockin’ Racket on Twitter (X), Instagram, and YouTube to follow our journey of getting our band to stardom!
