just saw a thread of black people from the uk say that african americans not knowing their ancestry is 'crazy' and that they should 'learn history' before they answer the question "where are you from?" with a state
#i'm actually going to fuckin cry from frustration and anger seeing it ksdjfsdj#the worst part is that they KNOW about america's history pre 1980s and it doesn't get through their fuckin skull#we were beaten into assimilation made to forget our history through the trauma of what we dealt with ALONE#plus being black our small communities outweigh any history or connection we had to africa#no one talks about why a community/shared experiences are so integral to the black (& other poc) community..#it's late and my brain has turned off for the day so this is all surface level but it's so incredibly frustrating#white people in america are never asked where they're from (yet will voluntarily offer up that information)#and they're not even native to america !!!!! a black person is more likely to be native to america than a white person is !!!!!!#anyways i have tears in my eyes i'm so angry lmao#cw rant#cw vent#🍯.txt
