im gonna try like, going between revenges & attacks that i want to do for artfight because i really didn't expect to get like more then 5 attacks and i want to do revenges.

Well I didn't write my thoughts on the last ep cause I was playing FF16 but I'll explain why I didn't like the ending (despite loving a lot of the episode) under the cut

There's a lot of ways you can end a political sci-fi story (which Mobile Suit Gundam tends to be) and some of the worst ways it can end is a bleak "and nothing got better" and that often is the resolution for a lot of them, but it's not that bad when it's clear that the isolated conflict would just be covered up and whatever amidst the conclusion of that story. The very grounded and "realistic" stories in UC might fall into this kind of area.

I am of the opinion that more often than not it's bad practice to criticise what isn't there, that is unless you have a legitimate reason to feel that way. In this case, I feel that they brought up the earth subplots and kind of just used to thrust the story forward without actually having anything meaningful to say about Earthian emancipation or even validate that the companies in the story made that place a fucking hell hole in any meaningful fashion. You hear about a lot of the going-ons from people from Earth for sure, but you barely have it in your periphery for the majority of the season except for about 3-ish episodes.

My greatest fear as I've expressed to many friends and other people I talk to about G-Witch is that they would hand-wave all the problems away with a time skip and sadly we got literally this exact thing.

The spectacle and wonder of the family conflict tying up nicely & the canon lesbian relationship is pretty heavily overshadowed for me by the complete dismissal of the very subplot threads they opened in order to describe just how bonkers the Benerit group is/was.

OF course, I am labouring under the assumption that there is no season 3, and IBO didn't even announce theirs till like 4 months after Season 1 ended on a massive cliffhanger but this story did not end on one.

There's no seething and spiteful earth orphan in the epilogue, or any inclination that the story will in-fact continue and that leaves me feeling all the way wrong about how they handled this especially since I have to wait half a year potentially to find out if they plan to make more (which I imagine they will if not specifically to sell more Gunpla).

Of course, you might say that "oh this is a more personal Gundam story" and I don't even really feel like that's a good explanation of why the ending almost feels antithetical to the story itself like, yeah Benerit got dissolved and all was well and eveyrone became friends which is acceptable in your average shounen story but this pretty much felt like an ass-pull in some ways especially when you take in that they neglected to do anything with Earth except => guel gets kidnapped and goes to earth and briefly helps orphans and guerillas => miorine accidentally helps stage a false flag attack and pretty much nothing else?

Like that kind of irks me in the same way that playing FF14 Stormblood and there being almost nothing about Ala Mhigo irks me.

Of course, I am happy that SuleMio is a happy family not just with Prospera, but all of her daughers including Eri.

It's just... way too neat? I seldom call something an ass-pull but hand-waving that Earth is still in strife and barely any consequences were faced by the broader corporations outside of the dissolution of Benerit would be a compelling point if, like Hathaway, it had something to stand on top of (which is that in UC, fucking nothing ever changes, Unicorn happens and Hathaway's Mafty Uprising still happens in spite of Banagher's wager on possibility lmao)

I dunno, I feel happy that they're happy but really upset that they really just dumpstered everything to do with Earth and it just swept so many of the real questions that the very story we watched each week implied it would even try to answer.

I'm really hard to annoy, I love meathead shounen, I love serious and nuanced political writing in anime (e.g. MSG UC & Eighty-Six) but it's not the space magic that annoys me, I'd be a hypocrite to love Gundam Unicorn and hate it here - it's how they just time-skipped everything to a neat and tidy conclusion.

Of course, maybe a S3 announcement (which I have firmly held is probably coming) would change my mind, but yeah this was a great episode but a terrible finale.

Honestly, I even felt irked by the fact that Suletta accepts her mothers choice so plainly and I get it - the parental bonds thing is somehting I don't take for granted, anyone who has had complicated feelings about their own parents understands how a person can come to be like "you've hurt me and the people around me, and yet I still care for you" - I get it! But I really do not like how inconsistent it feels to be cleaning up the bodies of her classmates one episode and kinda shrugging everything she did off in a time-skip but this critique specifically is down to the jarring pacing that others had been complaining to this point - I suppose I am guilty of getting caught up in the spectacle but I almost snapped my neck at how hard this ending veered off

Of course, the natural commentary for this will be "selling off Benerit's assets and aiding Earth is a functional and practical way to help Earth" except that it almost feels like it comes out of nowhere due to the lightspeed pacing of this finale.

They really fumbled writing Earth in this story - yeah, there are nice subtleties in the ending but it still feels way too rushed and jarring for me to like actually find it enjoyable. Bodies don't make a good gundam ending (see: Gundam Unicorn), and space magic doesn't make it bad either (also Gundam UC lol), they just brushed off way too much.

The "incremental change" argument holds decent weight if there was any explicit inclination to continue the story from the time-skip (which I would like to see, preferrably with an Earthian protagonist at the centre of their emancipation struggles).

It was indeed nice to see the Earth girls integrated into Miorine's company, and Sabina does comment that they're not sure if it will amount to what they want - and Mio, far more mature than her younger self, steps towards that future bravely and that's cool.

I like the characterisation of the ending - but yeah, how they kinda just blitz the Earth stuff does not sit right with me.

I did like seeing all the kids being friends & being together after all they've been through, and that is a nice way to tie-up the story, but the way they kinda just use that to justify why they barely explain the rest is wild.

Course, I know I'm probably in the minority here - but pacing doomposters were right - this was a pretty abysmal ending because of how little time they had to work with.

I loved every single episode of this season, except the ending. Loved the first half of the episode, but the latter half is just way too neat and that's not because it needs bodies or something - it really does just feel like "and then it got marginally better".

I know the ending itself explicitly acknowledges that nothing may change, but as I said previously, that only works if you have something to lean on which this story does not since it's unclear if it's even going to get another season.

Systemic change, in reality, is quite incrimental and often feels infinitismally small - and that notion might be more compelling in this bittersweet epilogue if the story had taken more pains to actually explore the earthian-spacian conflict.

Yes, they discuss conflict-sharing/war-partitioning on the different segments of Earth, but they do nothing with it at all other than laud it around as a talking point without making the viewer ever face it except when Prospera attacks Earth. I feel like so much of the Earth-side of the story is left in the abstract, and do not argue to me that it's in the subtleties of Earth house and the things that they say.

I felt like the fella in Plato's cave hearing about something and the only time I actually felt the human side of that story from the people that live on Earth was when Guel was a prisoner of war for an episode and when Miorine has to face the disappointed people who realise they're being attacked.

I had faith the ending would not go "and then it got better", and I know many people will hate that I choose to take that interpretation, but that is pretty much the summation of my feelings about how rapidly they pushed this aside. I love this series, I ahve been gassing this series every single week since like episode 3 - but this ending was unsatisfying - it's not enough to make me hate the series but yeah, I wish we had something more substantive to look toward with future stories or more time spent stressing the "other side" of this conflict.

Yeah, the Benerit group at large is on trial on TV, and there's signs that the world will change & we see future generations of kids on Earth, but I don't think it hit quite right for me. It's not a lack of grit, it's just like, you're enjoying the payoff without the adequate build-up and I feel like I'm possibly not alone in thinking this.

Earth was just a bargaining chip and an elusive idea in this season, and I really do not like that so much was left in the abstract. You can "subtext" anything into existence, but no amount of referential dialogue is going to make up for the lack of a grounded and meaningful representation of their struggle since Sophie and Norea got axed (I did not mind this at the time), and they portrayed every other Earth character outside of Gund-arm as a villain.

I really feel like this aspect of how the story was structured was ultimately quite disappointing and thus, I am annoyed at the resulting payoff.

The romance side of things was cute, and I thoroughly enjoy how thing were tied up with them - especially that Suletta loved her family despite everything (this does not boggle my mind).

But yeah my gripes with the lack of idk time to talk about Earth actually boggles my mind beyond belief.

It's incredibly difficult to feel the actual weight of "yeah Benerit was dissolved and assets redistributed lol" while being presented with next to zero context for what that means and what it could mean. Way too much is left to the imagination and while that's fine in certain kinds of stories, in one wherey ou barely even grapple with the Earth context that you've described to this point it's kind of bonkers.

Yes, I get a lot of people will feel catharsis with this ending because what they're watching for and what I am watching for may be different - that's perfectly okay, but I'm not gonna act like ti didn't disappoint me that we got the most explicit form of a hand-wave (a time skip) to end out an otherwise fantastically written series.

I do not like that one bit and I do not apologise for believing that either.

Here's another scorching take: the next season should focus on Earth, not how the Samayas heal as a family - there might be room for both, but with how neglected Earth felt maybe it's time for a POV change in this world bc they really did FA with that.

In conclusion, I sitll like the show, but this ending was really unfulfilling. I know that winning a battle is not winning the war, but the story took pretty much no pains to eloquently depict the struggles of Earth properly this season despite me thinking that the vast majority of episodes were absolutely fantastic in spite of that.

I think Suletta, Mio and Guel were quite well-written and most of the supporting cast too, but this flaw in the narrative structure is insanely glaring for me and call that pretentious if you want but I genuinely believe what I said here

Edit: I guess, the ending just doesn't say anything super daring that that's pretty disappointing.

Edit 2: I completely forgot to go on a rant but, that the use of a WMD (space laser) was not even a point of intrigue for a future conflict is also wild.

Refuse to romance Garrus that is just so platonic a dynamic it's not even funny. Jacob cheats and dips, so fuck him. Like... all of the fem!shep romances are terrible (or Trainor, I guess, but she's... kind of. Nobody. She's Just There. Sorry. It's not narratively interesting enough for me.) and Joker was right there and augh. Augh! Still ship. Still mad about it. Hatboy Project is doing the lord's work! Okay I just remembered that the reader had decided not to destroy sumeru and snezhnaya but the real reason they didn't destroy sumeru is because they saw how their archon looked like a child and you can't tell me they thought 'This child's canna be the true reason this nations gonna downfall so there no point lmao' but it could also be because they never really attacked them and maybe assisted the reader because their are healer there but also their archon represents wisdom lol so they wouldn't be as blind anyway I'll be back to give you more art and just chat lol anyway see ya.

Actually the reason why I picked Sumeru and Snezhnaya is that:

Since its coming out next month I will be busy exploring and reading the lore alot so that I can understand the plot of that region and trying to understand all the Sumeru characters properly without butuchering or making the character OOC. The dendro archon is like so far obviously the god of wisdom and despite their small form they are very much someone we do not underestimate if people like read or why the Dendro archon is a small child XD

But anyways back to the topic.

Like i mentioned the Dendro Archon despite being youngest of the seven being 500 years old if I am correct remembering Ganyu's dialogue where she mentioned about the dendro archon and yes again they are the God of Wisdom so for me I am sure they would be aware something is wrong with the creator that suddenly appeared and acting like a tyrant. Espeically like despite they are mentioned to be a kid we cant underestimate them XD

Hopefully around 3.0 we can get more lore of her and lore of Sumeru because im dying to know their lore including Fontaine!! 😭💕👌

Snezhnaya:

I find like considering that is basically where all the Fatui are gonna be appearing a lot and the Tsaritsa so far me is like someone who worship the creator in her own way but never a harder core type like Zhongli, Venti and Ei. She feels like someone who cares about the creator but is more focused on her plan.

(Yeah so far im still trying to get the right description of Tsaritsa without making her OOC TwT forgive meeee)

But like both she and her harbingers have their own goals and I think some harbingers i find would not be a worshipping type unlike Childe who already is exposed being a vessel and someone who will do anything be the creator's side.

Meanwhile I still have to search more info of the harbingers as majority some of their lores were mentioned by charas, books and artifacts of them.

La Signora for me is the one who would despise the creator but always like questions them on why didnt they save her beloved and why is her body (and possibly her soul) now confined into a daily torture of boss fighting domain.

Scaramouche for me feels like someone who hates the creator for making him go through a hard and harsh life especially taking away his friend away. It would take time for him to like get around okay with reader.

But honestly these are just my thoughts since I havent done much re-reading lores since I am still waiting for Sumeru and also trying to get more primos to get Kazuha since i only have 4 or 3 days left to get him along with Heizou DX

Just wanted to say Sequels Suck is a MASTERPIECE. I love how this story started as a slow burn since it allowed us to bond with the other characters and show Y/ns and Randy's rocky friendship. Slow burns are great for building characterization and slowly building the tension until the climax.

Imma be honest lmao I've been wary asf of Derek since the get go even before we as a character were sus of him in the story lol I think you said in an ask there COULD be a third ghostface and if he were to be it I'd LOSE MY SHIT. This isn't canon, so anything is possible and I'm scared 😭 I actually think realistically IF there is a third that'd it'd be Mickey since Derek literally rushed into the house to beat Billy's ass even tho he LITERALLY COULD HAVE DIED. Gotta give him credit, the man's got balls lmaooo an ingenuine person wouldn't have went that far for us.

Stu in chapter 10 didn't really have me sad, he just pissed me off with that mocking ass attitude 🙄 likeee he's acting like our betrayal didn't hurt us too. Didn't wanna hear a word we said and literally told us we might as well be dead. Ngl that hurt 😥 he's become so cruel to us and when we started crying in front of him I was like noooo bitch, he don't deserve your tears 🤐 not after what he did to you. It's their piss poor luck I write YN to be as realistic as I can and that means eventually dragging them across the mud like most of us would.

I was THIS close to writing this exactly like YN taking Sid's place and being there for two years but I thought 'No, that's why Scream 2 didn't feel nearly as authentic as Scream 1 bc we jumped straight into killings when at least Scream 1 had the fountain, Sid at Tatum's, the grocery store, the party that lasted a decent amount of time BEFORE the killings etc to show their friendships and interactions with each other. I was scared I was making YN unrealistic with being close to ppl she's just met but after two years of isolation; I think most of us would be hopeful with starting friendships again especially at college.

Yeeeaaaahhhhhh....The deaths are gonna suck. Big time. I can't say how but this is gonna work out in a really fucked up way by the end. 🥲💔 Especially since I'm taking this all the way to Scream 4 and maybe Scream 5 (Unless it turns out Stu is the killer in Scream 5 or something then either I'll end it at 4 or go completely AU for 5 bc what the hell can I do with that without YN being killed or killing Stu? 😭.)

My lips are sealed but this is a roller coaster and I don't even know who dies yet; just the ending 🥴🥴🥴

[P.1] Alright so dramatic anon here x). Brace yourself because this is going to be a long ass ride I'm telling you. Also I'm not a native english speaker so if there is any mistakes or if I word things inappropriately that's why. ~~ The dream was taking place at my house. I was living with my mom, my older brother and sister and my boyfriend Yuta. So Yuta and I shared a room. My bro and my sis also shared a room together just right across mine.

[P.2] So the night comes in and I go to bed with Yuta, we do what we have to do lol. He makes love to me all night long, alternating between sweet and rough sessions. (The boy ain't vegan let me tell you dis, he loves to eat that pussy. 10 out of 10, I would recommend). Anyway he looked so damn good, just beautiful from head to TOE, you know. He was kinda confused but I told him to pack his stuff that we were leaving. Fast forward we are in the car and it's silent. He puts his hand on my knee, he's caressing my inner thigh, he's really trying to comfort me like "Did you fight with your mom? You know she loves you right and I love you too. I'll make you feel better." [P.6 ] And I started crying LMAO I was crying my heart out like fuck you, stop being so kind to my face you motherF I know you're lying to me x). At one point I parked the car on the side of the road and I told him "I saw you with your ex being real cozy this morning? Are you serious Yuta? Are you cheating on me? [P.7] He opened his mouth to say something but in the end he stayed silent. And I hate it you know when people don't wanna talk about things and they just try to touch you to calm you down. So he was trying to caress my arms like "Please baby don't cry." And I was like "Just answer me. Are you cheating on me? Do you still love her?" He didn't want to answer so to me it was like a yes you know, like you’re not outright saying it but you are not denying anything either. [P.8] I got out the car and started walking away and he was running behind me like "Please baby come back into the car, so side of the road is not safe, please." Didn't wanna hear it lol. So he was like "We'll talk about it but please not here, it's too dangerous, I'm not leaving without you." We went back to the car, we drove for a bit and I parked the car again just in front of his ex's house and I went "Talk, I'm listening." [P.9] and Yuta was like "I feel like no matter what I would say to you, you wouldn't trust it because in your head you've already painted me guilty." To be honest I was so sad, I just wanted to hug and kiss him, like I needed his warmth so bad but since my trust was in peril I just couldn't let my guard down. And I was like "Is that a Yes or a no?" and he went "baby..." with a sad face. I cut him off like "Is it a Yes or a no?". He stayed silent again so I was like "Get out of my car." [P.127] he went out of my car holding his bags and I was like "I can't do this Yuta, I don't trust you anymore. Why is it so hard for you to give me clarity?" And I just left him, just like that. ~~ The END. Let me tell you when I woke up I was in paiiin lol. I felt like crying, I was like it's too early for this sh.t. Don't know if he did cheat on me or not though. I've been waiting for weeks to dream about a reconciliation between us but it's not happening lol I guess this is how it ends.

So yeah, I really tried not to, but it's been over a month, I am bored, I am tired, I need positivity and I love talking about my babies. I figured tumblr would be a good place to do so, so here goes nothing. (This first one, I played in another tabletop game than D&D. The campaign is also not complete and on pause, so sorry about this, but I'll post when we continue it!)

Rhodrag The Proud

Technicalities:

Rhodrag is a 25 years old river troll. She is my very first character. She is a shaman, which is pretty much the wizard equivalent of the game I was playing. She focuses mostly on healing and helping others, but can also be a powerful damage dealer and has no pity for those she sees as real enemies. She can take damage pretty well for a spellcaster, but is relatively weak. Her charisma is average, but she is intelligent and very wise, which makes people trust her. She speaks 4 languages: Trikhruthan (troll language), Common, Demonic and sign language. She is currently level 4.

Appearance:

River trolls usually have a fin on their head, but hers was cut off in her childhood to give her more chances of being able to disguise in a xenophobic world. She has a scar going through her face which she got, while fighting, from one of her ally who fell from very high (YES WHILE HOLDING A DAGGER) and was caught by her (he mostly fell on her but sh~). She always looks pretty stoic, almost rough, as she tends to hide her feelings.

Gear:

She possesses a few daggers, which she mostly got off her enemies' bodies as well as a pistol which she rarely ever uses. She wears a light armor and a big cape. Her last weapon is her blood fetish, a traditional shaman weapon that helps her with spells. The only important thing she possesses which is not gear is a ring that belonged to her mother and was made by her father.

Backstory, personal life and the campaign:

Rhodrag was born within troll territories and moved to Arkelon's capital when she was about 4 years old, her parents wishing to earn money and live a better life. Humans being shitty as they are, the promised life never was and they had to live in the slums surrounding the city. Her father worked at the port and her mother spent her days helping the community with her shaman talents which she taught to her daughter. One night, she was walking home with her parents and distanced them a little, happy from the day and eager to get home as fast as possible, when they were attacked. Rhodrag barely got the time to hide, but her parents were taken, leaving her, a child, alone. She lived the next years, helping like her mother did and living from the food she could find or get and from the help she got in return from her community.

Fast forward many years. Rhodrag is in the city, much like everyone, to watch the annual combat tournament on the screens placed outside the arena for those unable to pay tickets. She attends with her best friend, Gobbite, a jaanvar-saan (a lizard man basically) from the slums whose parents were killed. The day is going well until three bombs explode in the arena. There is a general panic and two more explode, this time by the screens. Soon enough, while trying to help people, Rhodrag and Gobbite meet other people: Kass and Blue, respectively a jaanvar-chi (bird person) and a human who are adopted siblings from a rich family, 0.9 and Drax, a human and a dragonkin travelling together, Zædrick, another dragonkin and Malphas, a jaanvar-saan. Together they start investigating the attacks, are lead towards the Dragon Queen, a benefactor in the slums, and accomplish various quests to gain her trust.

Gobbite, scared, leaves the party, promising Rhodrag the be prudent and to let her know if he finds out anything. They also meet Herr Frost, an ice troll, and his crow, Snowball, as well as Missah, an orc who saved Kass many years ago. They continue investigating and are soon left by Drax, who prefers to not get entangled in those stories.

While accomplishing a quest which consists of finding people who ran from the city to the slums and who got stuck in the catacombs because of an infestation, Rhodrag finds the dead bodies of 4 river trolls, and hiding in the cracks of the walls, 2 children, Remian and Agnes which she instantly loves. She learns the dead trolls were their only family.

She spends her days investigating and her nights with Remian and Agnes, as well as the other kids of the orphanage created for children who got separated from their parents in the attacks. She soon finds herself falling in love with Kass and soon enough they become a couple.

A few weeks later, the crew has met the Dragon Queen and now has people to investigate on. While searching the house of one of them, they are interrupted by another river troll, Endanor, who won't stop following Rhodrag. The truth is revealed: he is her brother.

Here is what happened:

Their parents were supposed to be sold as slaves, but escaped and reached the river trolls territories, hoping to earn money to go back to the capital. Their mother became pregnant and gave birth to Endanor. When he was around 5, their father gave him a ring, the same ring that Rhodrag owned and told him to look out for his sister, 10 years older, who wore the same ring. Slowly he fell into madness and had to be hospitalized. Their mother fell in love again and had twins with her new partner.

Rhodrag takes all this information in and her mask cracks. She cries in her brother's arms while he informs her that her family is in the slums and that he was here looking for her.

The next day, she and Endanor are heading to their family and Rhodrag thinks about Agnes and Remian. She decides to head to the orphanage, picks up the two kids "for a walk" and annonces the two extatic kids that not only is she adopting them, they also get to meet the rest of their family. The night is wonderful and full of tears for everyone, mostly Rhodrag. (Fun fact, 0.9 followed them and wasn't not noticed until Agnes just sees him and is like: oh hi! And 0.9 was like: sup. And he also ended up spending the night with the family cause he was lost lmao).

The next day, Rhodrag and 0.9 leave to prepare to strike at an event. The whole thing turns out to just be a sacrificial demonic thingy, 3 members almost die (Blue, Kass and Zædrick), Blue literally kills a guard my jumping on his head with her high heels, they are helped and everyone heads to the bad dude's lair. Upon arriving, they are attacked by hell hounds, Kass is shocked and has to leave the fight so they hide near the entrance. The hell hounds are killed, we runs to the complete back of the building where the big bad guy is with 4 other guys chanting. In the middle of the room, there's a demon being invoked and there are two minor demons spawner. Rhodrag freezes the a**hole and they manage to kill the 4 men and to block the spawners by having something over it (first, it's Rhodrag and 0.9, then it's the dead bodies of the imps or cult dudes). The demon wakes up and the leader disappears. First OF COURSE he attacks Rhodrag AND THEN the other healer cause he is the most detestable person ever, and Rhodrag passes out. People continue to fight, the demon moves and Missah kills the leader and spits on his dead body because "no one tries to kill our Rhodrag." 😭 Then Rhodrag is healed, they kill the demon and run out of the building as it breaks into pieces and we find ourselves outside in a DEMONIC APOCALYPSE. A jeep appears, going full speed and stops by, it's the Dragon Queen. She just tells them to get in to go to safety.
