Well as a beginner beginner I used MSpaint XDD But you don't have to start out that simple or primitive in your digital art journey-

The second program I started using was FireAlpaca, and I've used it ever since I first downloaded it years ago! Its a free program that's easy for beginners to learn but also has a lot of tools for the pros!

Keep in mind though that it can be a biiiit buggy at time and has some odd quirks you'll have to learn how to work around.. <XDD Other than that, I recommend it!

(Also thank you! :DD I seem to be approaching another art block but I'd like to post again soon! :)) )

I had plans to make a follow up comic that ends with Emmet finally having a genuine smile.. (and Ingo having a genuine frown..? 👀👀) But man, I got kicked in the teeth with art block suddenly 💀💀

I already knew about the scene before watching it, so it didn't effect me too much..

Also its kind'a the opposite. Its not looking at Ingo that reminds them of the separation.. is not looking at him that brings the anxiety back..

If Elesa goes too long without seeing or hearing from Ingo, she'll start to feel uneasy and anxious. Only feeling better when she gives Ingo a call and hears his voice..

For Emmet, if Ingo is out of his sight for more than 30 minutes or so, anxiety will start to creep up his spine. Getting more and more anxious until he is physically reunited with him.

Sometimes even needing a hug or a gentle hand on the shoulder to physically ground him and remind him that Ingo is home now. he is safe..

It was briefly brought up in "Comfort Him" but I'd like to see Akari having a bad day of Homesickness with Ingo being there to comfort her. Maybe how this is the first time and she is a bit hesitant at first but once she starts telling him about her home she can't really stop herself and Ingo is just listening and gives occasional praises to all her loved ones.

I'd just like to see how Ingo being there for Akari in one of her weaker moments leads into their found family bond to strengthen and she doesn't have to carry all that weight on her ownand gets someone (while with more limited memories of modern times) who can relate to her to some degree.

I'll leave it up to you if you wanna write a full fledged story or something for minutes with this.

Thanks for the request anon! I do not normally respond to writing requests to hold onto them, but I’m responding to this one because I actually already wrote something for this! (Actually two things, a standalone piece, and a section in an upcoming multi-chapter fic, Rain Check.) so its great that you requested this!

Akari does not often talk about her mom. She will not unless she feels close to someone, and under specific circumstances. The most Ingo ever hears about her mother is little anecdotes Akari might choose to share. And she never talks about a father.

I’ve wanted to write this myself for a very long time but always put it aside for requests - requests didn’t get in the way, but I just always was unsure how to go about writing it, so I avoided it.

But I really want to write it to cement a little bit. Namely that in my canon, Akari does not have a father figure (like in the games, as I base her off of the DPP protag), but she also does not see Ingo as a father figure.

SO THIS REQUEST IS ON THE WAY! I just have not posted it yet because as I mentioned earlier, I write two instances of this. And the standalone builds off of what is in the multi-chapter fic. So I cannot post it quite yet ^^;

i need to get some pokemon thoughts out before i forget 'em, so don't mind me! hazel's galar run thoughts and headcanons ahead

so there's a lot of miscellaneous thoughts here but i'll try to keep it. a little more or less coherent?

before we get to galar, first thought iiis

i've had it be a thing for a while that hazel knows ingo & emmet, but other than her riding the trains in unova a lot ever since she was younger and ingo and emmet were working their way up the ranks to becoming the subway masters, i couldn't particularly think of a reason otherwise why she'd be close with them (to the point of going "oh they're like practically uncles to me")

but hazel is friends with the striaton bros. (seeing as the restaurant is just one route away, and hazel lives in accumula town, visiting striaton city frequently, especially to hang out in the dreamyard)

and, well.. one of my favorite areas in unova is Anville Town, and so-

hazel and cilan (via the anime-specific version of cilan's interest in trains. canon to me.) probably bonded over a mutual interest in trains, and similarly hazel would've probably gotten talking to ingo & emmet about the subway trains- i think it'd be cute if they all went trainspotting together in anville town on the weekends- as well as hazel riding the battle trains as she got more and more into pokemon battling

(and then seeing ingo later... earlier?? in hisui. would be a little more ouch)

anyways, galar thoughts and headcanons

1. this is more of a general headcanon, but i was thinking about it while listening to encounter themes- it'd be neat if trainers challenging each other to battles on routes was standardized- encounter themes are diagetic- like ringtones, whatever phone or device (i.e. x-transceiver, vs seeker, what have you) plays it when you cross paths with another trainer who's actively seeking battles, and said device displays current registered pokemon league information about that trainer

2. when hazel arrives in galar, leon ends up meeting her at the train station at the same time he's meeting with hop & gloria, and hazel has literally no clue who he is other than immediately developing a crush on the guy..... i think it'd be funny as an inverse of this if hop recognized hazel- not as just like, the girl who's staying in their family home's guest room while she's in the region, but also knowing her from watching her battles online (to which hazel has a horrified reaction due to Not Wanting To Be Perceived)

Hop: oh, your battles only have about 1,000 views each! pretty underrated if you ask me Hazel: a-- a thousand??? (urge to disappear into the woods until no one remembers she exists rising)

this is feasible to happen just because i think she might naturally develop a very small following due to. literally having a pikachu as her ace. and collecting gym badges and specifically never challenging the champion afterwards. which! i'm sure is a passtime other people have, but specifically sweeping gyms with a pikachu is a little funny

3. i feel like it'd be more authentic to the experience if hazel didn't know anybody in galar otherwise and nobody knew her- but also i realized sonia and bianca would make ADORABLE friends. the thought of sonia flipping from indifference to OHHHHH YOU'RE THE HAZEL BIANCA WAS TALKING ABOUT!!!!!

4. i don't know if i'll do much more than privately write out hazel's adventures for myself to enjoy, but if i ever did make a comic, i'd love to expand on the galar region and have leon accompany hazel a goodly amount (and similarly hazel accompany leon and help calm down aggressive dynamaxed pokemon) in between her chaperoning for hop & gloria on their adventure and challenging gyms herself

but i've been wanting to play with giving the story more flourish and fixing some of the issues that a lot of people have with the ending feeling rushed by giving rose more context to his motivations, more intrigue in the narrative with the legendary wolves, and one thing i'd really like to play with is the original heroes of galar and a one-off line from Ash in Journeys, which has him say the statue of the hero in one of the hotels looks like Leon)

i really like the narrative of rose being very romantic about how he sees the world and wanting to bring about a second darkest day so it can play out like a fairy tale and leon will be the hero in the starring role. that, wishing as hard as he can, he can shift fate itself and the hero king will tame the dragon and bring about a bright future. leon is written as a protagonist. sort of dorky outfit, using a starter as his ace, went on his journey and became champion on his first try, had a rival who ended up becoming a pokemon professor, his theme LITERALLY has the hall of fame theme as a motif- he's written as someone who is literally the ideal protagonist and hero.

and it just.. doesn't work. he fails! i want to work with that so badly. i loved that so dearly about BW with that similar narrative with basically creating a new pair of heroes at ideological odds by forcing it to happen. in the case of the unovan dragons, it turned out for the better, but in the case of galar it's such an interesting twist on the same kind of story and i love both games so much!!!!

anyways. dusts hands off. there you go. i go back under my rock now and pretend i'm not completely obsessed with leon and SWSH. goodbye

im gonna go to sleep real quick but first i have a feeling that if PLA released a DLC to reunite the twins, it’d go a bit like this:

a strange man is found in the crimson mirelands. he was brought straight into the diamond clan settlement where Adaman immediately recognizes him, and relays the information to the Galaxy Team

Kamado and Cyllene bring this to you and Ingo’s attention, and decide that it might be best to send you both to check it out (on account of also being strange people brought into Hisui)

anyway you arrive there and yeah. this is a strange man he speaks in abrupt sentences and also has strange attire that resembles Ingo’s... though it seems to be in mint condition. 

similarly to ingo he has no memory. none. only his name. they both kinda stare at each other like “woah. you have my face” and such. ingo thinks this guy is important to his backstory but isn’t sure how. Someone throws the idea of them being twins and he considers it, but is like “seems kinda unlikely.”

so yeah. they both stick together bc it just Feels Right and they are coordinated to the point that you HAVE to believe they practiced together for hours. 

then they’re like “hm. if we’re not from hisui, let’s find out how we got here” and here comes the sidequest of figuring out what the hell happened

the event flag should come after catching arceus so you just let it out of the pokeball and casually ask the god of this world if it kidnapped two new york men 

(alternatively you can just text god on your handy phone bc that idea is hilarious and let’s be honest, the entire fandom thought ab that when the arc phone was first introduced)

it’s like “idk man” and now you’re led on a goose chase to find the next suspect: Volo. Who is currently MIA. Ingo has doubts about it being Volo but he doesn’t have any memory so he brushes it aside. Emmet has no idea what’s happening but he follows along anyway

you end up going down some ruins and as you pass by murals Ingo and Emmet regain some more memories. perhaps by talking with each other or maybe ruin powers, idk. 

this part is entirely gen 5 fan bait. they start gushing ab the battle subway and battling and unova and hmmm what were the names of those particularly strong trainers and one of them became champion and also overthrew PETA? (through this we can also get a timeline of when exactly they were isekaied lol)

we get to volo. he is sealed away in some McGuffin and no one knows how to get him out. very suspicious. you take it and then the three of you get back to Jubilife village

there isn’t rly a way to get volo out but Emmet decides to stay with Ingo in the village in the meantime, hoping that they will get some answers once you figure out how to get the megalomaniac out of his prison

double battles and multi battles become a thing (about time), and the whole ordeal inspires Anthe to make some clothes based off of Ingo and Emmet’s uniform. hooray!

I am Emily

Just a short oneshot based off of @hoofpeet's transfemme Emmet drawings that I absolutely love. This is Emily realizing who she is with a little help from Elesa. (There's also a drawing included of Emily at the end.)

Note: I wrote Emily's old name and pronouns in brackets as a way to convey that they are placeholders until she realizes who she is later in the story. I thought this would be the best way to avoid any confusion without seeming like I was deadnaming or misgendering her. If there is a better way to convey this, I'd be happy to hear it! Even though I myself am nonbinary, I know that not everyone's experiences with being trans are the same and I'd be happy to learn other ways to portray this situation.

[Emmet] hated mirrors. [He] was never a huge fan of mirrors, but at least when Ingo was beside [him], it was easier to look at [his] reflection. It was easier to just look at [his] brother and feel happy about how they matched.

But Ingo was gone. He had been missing for over a year now, and nothing felt the same without him. Especially mirrors. Looking at [his] own reflection felt... wrong. [He] wasn't sure how, but [Emmet] just knew that something was bad about it. So [he] avoided any reflective surface now. The windows of the train cars, puddles in the rain, and [he] even covered [his] bathroom mirror at home with a towel. If [Emmet] absolutely had to check [his] appearance, [he] would ask [his] pokemon to let [him] know if something was off before [he] left the house.

Luckily, Elesa proved to be a good distraction. [Emmet] was at Elesa's house for one of their usual hangouts. They were watching TV together while Elesa painted her nails. [Emmet] couldn't help but think that the shade of blue that she was using was really pretty.

As she finished painting her nails, Elesa caught notice of [Emmet] staring. She looked at the nail polish then back at [him].

"Want me to paint your nails?" she asked.

"Huh?" The question caught [him] a little off guard.

"I know you like the color blue. Oh! And I have some white nail polish too! Want me to paint your nails?" Elesa was persistent on the idea.

"Okay. You can paint my nails," [Emmet] agreed.

Elesa eagerly ran to her room and came back with some white nail polish. For the next few minutes, Elesa painted [Emmet]'s nails. [His] ring fingers were painted white while the rest of [his] nails were painted blue. When she finished, [Emmet] looked at her handiwork and [his] smile relaxed into a more genuine expression.

"These look verrry pretty. Thank you, Elesa," [he] said.

"You're welcome, Em!"

[He] kept looking at [his] nails and something just felt right about them. It was such a small thing, but it made [him] feel happy, so [he] decided not to question it much.

"So, is this the first time you've ever had your nails done?" Elesa asked.

"Yup. I never really thought to try it before," [he] said simply.

"Well, this is the happiest I've seen you in a while," she pointed out. "If having your nails done makes you so happy, we can paint your nails every time we hang out."

"Really? I think I would enjoy that. Thanks Elesa."

"Of course!" Her expression then turned to something a little more serious. "But hey, can I ask you something?"

"Yup."

"Are you doing alright?"

[Emmet] flinched slightly at the question.

"What do you mean?" [he] asked slowly.

"I mean, well, I know you covered your bathroom mirror. I know you've been kinda... off lately." Damn. [Emmet] should've known she would have noticed that. "So, what's going on?"

"Ingo is still missing," [Emmet] replied as if it should have been obvious. "He has been missing for over a year. Of course I'm not okay."

"I know. I'm sorry, Em, I just..." Elesa paused, trying to find the right words. "It just seems like there's more to it than that."

[Emmet] hesitated for a moment before coming clean.

"I do not like my reflection," [he] began. "I don't think I am ugly or anything like that. But whenever I see my reflection, I don't see myself. I only see Ingo. A smiling Ingo, but still Ingo."

"Well, you are twins," Elesa noted. "Do you think you're just feeling this way 'cause you miss him?"

"No, I don't think so," [he] said, shaking [his] head. "I can't remember the last time I really felt like I saw myself in my reflection. But with Ingo beside me, it was easier to handle. With him gone, there's only one of us in the mirror. And I only see him. Not me."

"So, this is something that's been going on for a while, huh?" Elesa mumbled to herself. She was quiet for a few moments, then she looked back up at [Emmet]. "Hey, can we try something? It might help."

"What do you have in mind?" [Emmet] asked.

"Just trust me! Come on!" She grabbed [his] hand and guided the way up to her room. Once there, Elesa began digging through her closet.

"I don't know how many of my outfits will fit you, but we can try on a few things. Come help me look."

"You think dressing me up will help?"

"If you're having problems with seeing your own reflection, then maybe a little makeover will help," Elesa explained. "I only have my clothes here, so we're a bit limited right now, but this could be a step in the right Di-ruddigon!" Elesa laughed at her own pun - a fusion of the word "direction" and the pokemon Duddigon. [Emmet] just sighed in amused annoyance.

"Okay. As long as there are no more puns."

"You know I can't make that promise."

[Emmet] simply rolled [his] eyes, then began to look through Elesa's clothes with her. Eventually, they found a few different outfits, then Elesa shoved [Emmet] into her bathroom to change.

"I'm gonna get something else ready for you! Come out once you've changed!"

Quickly, [Emmet] undressed, and [he] hung [his] shirt over her mirror so [he] wouldn't have to watch [himself]. [He] then neatly folded [his] pants on her sink counter before finally going through the outfits. Some of the clothes didn't exactly fit right, and some of the clothes just didn't feel comfortable, but finally [he] settled on an outfit. It was a simple light blue dress with spaghetti straps, a black belt wrapped around [his] waist, a white shrug with ¾ length sleeves, and white leggings. None of Elesa's shoes were [his] size, so they would be forgoing any footwear, but that would be alright [Emmet] guessed.

Since [he] was now dressed, [Emmet] stepped out of the bathroom. Elesa was waiting just outside it with a gray wig.

"I know it's not perfect, but I think it looks close enough to your hair color to give the illusion that your hair is longer," she said.

It was a short wig with straight hair and side parted bangs. [Emmet] just shrugged and let Elesa sit [him] down on her bed as she helped [him] put the wig on. They were already this far in, so might as well continue.

"Wanna try some makeup?" Elesa asked. "Maybe some lip gloss? Eye shadow? Mascara?"

"Nothing too crazy," [Emmet] said. "Maybe the lip gloss. And the mascara."

"Okay!" Elesa then began to apply a little bit of mascara to [Emmet]'s eye lashes, and then some shiny soft pink lip gloss to [his] lips. Once she was done, Elesa stood back to admire her work.

"Wanna see how you look?" She was absolutely giddy, but she was doing her best to contain herself.

"I guess so," was all [Emmet] could think to say.

Elesa then pulled a full length mirror out of her closet. [Emmet] stood up and finally looked at the reflection. [His] eyes widened. For the first time in what felt like forever, the person staring back in the mirror finally looked like herself. She studied her new look in amazement. The outfit was really cute - it was Elesa's clothes after all - and the dress and belt really seemed to accentuate her hips in just the right way. The wig encircled her face perfectly, and the mascara really brought out her eyes. The lip gloss was just a cute additional touch. She had never felt so good before while looking at her own reflection.

"So, what do you think?" Elesa asked eagerly.

"I...... I love it," she said, still in awe.

"Yes! You look so pretty! You're so cute!" Elesa gushed.

"You really think so?" She couldn't take her eyes away from the mirror, so she simply looked at Elesa through the reflection.

"Yes! I know so!" Elesa was bouncing on her toes now. She chuckled a bit and turned to finally face the electric gym leader, flapping her arms slightly in excitement. As she did, the dress' skirt twirled a bit.

"It twirls!" She eagerly began spinning, enjoying the feeling of the dress creating a gentle breeze, as well as the visual of the fabric fluttering. It felt so amazing!

"Isn't that so fun! I love it when dresses twirl like that!" Elesa said through giggles. "So, how do you feel?"

She stopped twirling to give Elesa's question some actual thought.

"I had never thought to try this," she began. "But I am glad I did. Although, this raises some more questions. I never considered I might not be a man. I have always just been me. I have... I have always been Emmet. But now I think I might not be. But then. Who am I?"

"We'll take it one step at a time," Elesa said with a gentle smile. "You remember when Ingo transitioned. He didn't just change everything about himself in one night. And neither did I. Transitioning is a process, and if this is something you feel is right for you, then we'll take it at your own pace. And I'll be right here to support you the whole time."

"Thank you, Elesa," she said. "I really appreciate it."

"You're welcome. So, do you want me to try referring to you as a girl? See how that feels?"

"Sure."

Elesa cleared her throat, most likely to buy time as she thought of something to say.

"Oh, have you seen the Subway Boss? She's really pretty, right? She also runs the doubles line in the Battle Subway. Should I go challenge her?"

Her smile grew more with each sentence. Everything about that just felt so... right. She was the Subway Boss. She ran the doubles line. And she was a woman.

"That sounded verrry accurate. It felt right. I... I think I really like being a woman."

"Do you think you'll wanna change your name?" Elesa asked now.

"I have always liked my name," she confessed. "But I don't think it fits me anymore. Maybe I can still go by something similar. Something that starts with an 'E'."

"Let's see....." Elesa thought for a moment. "There's Erica, Emma, Esther, Ellen, Emily, Eren..."

"Emily..." She sounded out the name as she tried to get a feel for it on her tongue. "I think I like Emily."

"Wanna try introducing yourself to me?"

She nodded. She got into her signature pose, pointing her right arm out to the side and down, with her left arm forward.

"I am Subway Boss Emily. I run the doubles line. And I like winning verrry much."

Elesa clapped. Emily smiled. Everything was finally starting to feel right again.

"I am Emily."

Ask and ye shall receive! I'd love to hear more about Melli and Elesa's friendship! If you have any shenanigans they get up to, like the Volo simp prank, I'd love to hear about it!

Yay, thanks! Hmmm, I don't have anything really specific for them in mind (would have written it if I did), but I do think they hang out and get along quite well. I've mentioned Melli being on the battle subway a fair bit, but I honestly think he tends to spend more time around Elesa's gym - partially because trains and him still don't get along that well, partially because, while the high level of battle the twins partake in is thrilling to watch, the mid-high-range stuff Elesa does is more applicable to himself, and it gives him a chance to see a wider variety of pokemon and trainers, and learn about how their bonds form, their teamwork, and different modern battling techniques.

He does not like Elesa's rollarcoasters, however, those are worse than the trains, he takes one look at them, then looks back at Elesa with an 'are you freaking kidding me' expression, and she gives him a staff pass so he can go through the back rooms to get to her section of the gym when he wants to watch her or hang out. He also spends a fair bit of time talking with the Nimbasa Gym trainers (at the time he's there, Rolan, Colette, Nikola, Fleming, and Ampere are the ones working there). Gyms are just... so very strange to him, why do this, why is Elesa using a team only half as strong as the one she's fought him and he's seen her fight the twins with, what's the point??!?

Also, I like to think that, since the gym trainers only use two pokemon in battles with gym challengers, they actually do have full teams with them at all times, but the rest of the teams are much stronger pokemon they use to battle each other on slow days, for practice and training (Colette's working on getting a team and her skills good enough to take a swing at Gear Station), and they also spend time practicing poses and what they're going to say to trainers when they show up.

As for Melli and Elesa, I think he ends up spending the night at her apartment more than once while he's in the future, to give the twins some space, and also to let Melli have some space from the twins. They end up doing makeovers a lot on these nights, both for themselves and their pokemon. Melli knows all about proper brushing techniques, but he might not know as much about, say, tending Skuntank's claws, so they don't get as torn or damaged and stay more healthy and effective. They both like to gossip, and Melli thinks Elesa's jokes are terrible, which only inspires her to make worse ones, because sometimes friendship is causing each other pain.

I think they mostly hang out and Melli inadvertently learns some better social skills from her, and she likes asking him about how life in his time was and his own training techniques. Because, I mean... none of the clan members on either side (except Ingo) use pokeballs - all of their pokemon are staying with them willingly, there's not an Arceus-danged thing keeping there beyond wanting to be, and it's been that way from the beginning. And Melli's got some pokemon that are known for being kind of dangerous/unpleasant and not having the best tempers, but here he is, using them as furniture, not a pokeball in sight, so he must have some serious taming skills, same as the other wardens. That would be so interesting and different to a modern trainer, and I think, as someone skilled enough to be a gym leader, Elesa would be really interested in all that!

I would kill to see the Twins--all of them!!--get reunited in In Tandem ;-; they deserve the world!! Especially liking Emmet and Lucas's dynamic. They're both trying so hard and I wanna give Lucas a big hug and Emmet a gift of some kind, probably a plushie or a few bracelets(also I would like to let him use my washing machine because DAMN his coat has been Going Through It). And Ingo and Dawnnn I just--hhhh they are so far from home, I'd say put them back right now or so help me but they've kinda got important stuff going on. I would also like to hug Dawn and give Ingo a warm coffee/tea(he also seems a little touch-aversive? Maybe? Better safe than sorry tho)

Ahhhh I'm so glad you like it, thank you!!! I fully intend for everyone to get home to their siblings at the end of the day, and Dawn and Lucas will be one pair of uncles richer. Who knows what all will happen between now and then? But they'll get there! Eventually.
