batman’s great recap (2012 - 2018)
ON POPULAR DEMAND (seriously y’all i’m not the best at replying to messages but i do see them) here is that fic-over-the-years special!
now, i know i spoke about reaching into The Vault for my harry potter and supernatural fic but honestly...i spent the past half hour going through that shit and it’s dumb. it’s not even about embarrassment - my style was basically nonexistent? there’s literally nothing you can draw from it. it was just “blah blah blah,” he said. he felt bad. and other such things. so instead let’s try to see if i wrote some real fiction in 2012. going for two fics a year since i’ve realised i have this pattern of taking a big step up at some point in the summer/fall. i believe.
2012 - mostly horsecrap but had its moments
‘See, that’s where you’re wrong,’ Taemin says as he washes the bowl. He puts it away and turns back to Kibum. ‘Onew’s a supermodel. I’m not going to go talk to a stuck up airhead. I’m going to talk to the boy who wanted me to put can crack open nuts with fingers on his résumé.’ -- shatterglass
'You are good looking,' Yifan says incredulously. He hadn't imagined the Mysterious Cake Thief to be even marginally attractive, but this guy takes the...well, cake. 'I don't like you. Leave my scarf on the table and get out.' -- things to ask yixing
2013 - full-out nonsense or full-out angst, no inbetween
'You threw me into the crowd,' Yixing says through gritted teeth as he applies disinfectant none too gently on Yifan's cheek. 'YOU NEED TO STOP THROWING ME OVER RAILINGS.'
'You were standing in the corner and drinking Diet Coke while I battled an assassin,' Yifan retorts. 'You were supposed to run.' -- secret agenting for dummies
'I think my ears are bleeding. Are my ears bleeding, Joonmyun?' Yifan asks gravely. 'Don't be afraid to tell me the truth.' -- tired&wired
‘Yes,’ Jongin says, frowning again—Kyungsoo’s pinned it down as his perpetual expression now—and shrugging. ‘I always look at you like this when you laugh. Perhaps this is the first time you caught me in the act.’ -- thunderbirds
2014 - the equivalent of tasteless porridge
There are things about Jongdae that Chanyeol had never hoped to find out. He holds these things in his calloused hands, folds them under his pillow, under his handkerchief. He’s done his collecting. He can sleep now. -- (can i ask you) about today
"kyungsoo's dead," baekhyun answers. "do you guys want some coffee?" -- phantoms
2015 - was certainly a year
‘CAUGHT IN A LANDSLIDE,’ Boy hollers solemnly, his hand on his pastel-pink-clad chest, the other one spreading out and the rest of the patrons sitting calmly as if this is an everyday occurrence, and more importantly, as if this human can actually sing. ‘NO ESCAPE FROM REALITY.’ -- set the tone / jaywalkers
‘Can you?’ Shizuo's arms are trembling with the fatigue of restraint, and Izaya might never be graced with such humanity again. ‘Can you...take it. Izaya. Tell me you can take it.’
For all of Shizuo’s honest violence, Izaya is pulled towards him for what he can see beyond that— Shizuo is so simply and painfully but a man. It's what makes him the fiend he is, and so Izaya leans forward, perilously close, looks into Shizuo’s eyes. ‘Can you?’ -- sacramental
The sun is coming up inch by inch, but it's still so dark, and so blue, and he's so beautiful. He's so beautiful that Eren doesn't know what to do with himself, encased in steam as they are, in mist, with Jean's lips trembling, the most moving Eren has ever seen him look. Our brief wage ours for the moment. Jean who paints with God's colours, Jean who loves him so. -- in petersburg
2016 - HANDS DOWN BEST WRITING YEAR EVER
'He smells your hoodies,' Sonic says. 'His engines go wild when you smile at him. He blushes when you pat his head, which, I don't even know how he's configured to blush. One time I asked him what his favourite colour was and he said Saitama sensei.' -- everybody’s looking for darjeeling
'Just,' Kei says, and Kuroo is caging him in against the mirror, and behind him is an exposed brick wall that blurs and sharpens in turns in Kei's vision, and the light above his head is red, and Kei wishes Kuroo worked for the devil. Kei wishes Kuroo was the devil, wishes he didn't have a bow and arrow on the wrist so close to Kei's head as Kuroo's arms slide lower from their place on the mirror. Kei wishes Kuroo didn't draw memories and hopes into people's skins for a living, wishes Kuroo hadn't seen the '64 Olympics live and taken a dozen lovers to bed, wants to be the first one, the only one, Kuroo's only love sprung from his only hate. -- heretic
‘Listen, Ryou-san.’ Youichi takes the chair— proving his point before he even makes it— turning it backwards and sitting down, hands white-knuckled tight on the wooden back. ‘When I wake up in the morning, I don’t even know what I want for breakfast. You’re not going to tell me what I wanted, much less how I wanted it.’ -- movers and shakers
‘You know I won’t force you.’ Kuroo’s hand is still right there, not so close but not that far either. Waiting, like Kuroo’s been doing so many times this evening, for the strangest of things. For Kei to finish his drink, for Kei to finish his sentence, for Kei to finish. ‘But I’m not a half-bad dancer. I’m just saying. Don’t make me pull out the birthday emotional blackmail.’ -- learning to speak / jaywalkers
Kuroo doesn’t have an armour. Kuroo is armour. His body is strong and his smile is stronger, because he believes what he believes with a carefree conviction, with almost an abandon, as if it’s a relief to think that he can’t be loved. -- 12.5 (long before rock’n’roll) / jaywalkers
But— Taehyung looks out beyond Jeongguk's shoulder, and at the pictures on the walls. At a him that Jeongguk missed without knowing who he misses, like the wailing wind of grief on the first day of summer. -- summer; blue
Friendship, Hitoka thinks, is the way you can be so involved in something that isn't your story entirely but might as well be. The song is soft and so painfully sweet that she wonders at Kuroo-san for being able to bear singing it to a room half-filled with strangers, but when he hums at the end of the second chorus and waits for the guitar break, the almost-blank look on Himuro-san's face as he steps up says it all. He's looking at a spot on the floor, so focused on getting the notes right, saying in the best way he can that this moment belongs to Kuroo-san; he was the one who made the invitation, after all. He's been playing here since his first year, Hitoka knows; how attuned he must be to it all. -- fall / jaywalkers
'He should know, shouldn't he? I wouldn't want him not to know. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine not telling someone you like that you like them? That's terrifying, Jin.' -- 11:58:30
But then Taehyung grins even wider, like they've already met, and clambers all over Jeongguk, hugging him and rocking him back and forth, clutching him tight in the folds of his soft, big sweater. And Jeongguk, Jeongguk stares at an overturned Converse high-top on the floor, wondering how it could be that his love is in his throat, that his heart is weak and sleepy with it. -- butterfingers
'It's called,' he says, then takes another breath and lets it out. 'It's called my best friend falls in love.' -- let me know / jaywalkers
2017 - AKA “i went too hard in 2016 and burned out”
'I know the pre-requisite formalities of taking it up the ass, Taehyung,' Jeongguk says, and Taehyung chokes on air for lack of a toothbrush. 'I know it's hard to believe, but I have slept with people before.' -- surface, arches, breaking through / summer; blue
Jeongguk doesn't agree. He thinks happiness always barges in without warning or manners, like a drunkard from the street. He thinks happiness steals out the next morning without a single noise, like that drunkard waking up to his shameful hangover. -- poppy seeds
‘You deflated fucking rubber goose,’ he hisses, ‘what the fuck are you doing.’
‘Helping a friend—’
‘Across the Styx and into the netherworld?’
‘Across the league divide and into Jung Hoseok’s manly, manly—’
-- and now for something completely different
2018 - nothing to see here, still burnt out
‘I am so fucking PUMPED,’ Hoseok says as if to punctuate Taehyung’s inner litany. He bangs his fist down on Seokjin’s empty guitar case and hoots loudly, and for once, Seokjin and Yoongi laugh along instead of rolling their eyes. (They can’t help being caught up, after all.) ‘MAN ALIVE. I FEEL LIKE A COCKROACH.’ -- (if there’s something better baby) well they haven’t found it yet
There are no guns here. Just Angelo, his eyes burning with the will to live. Just Nero, who made himself a bed of gauze and called it a day. The blanket is warm and heavy like the safety of childhood, and he can’t even cry; he doesn’t have the right. -- i came burning burning burning burning
What he's more interested by is...just them. Tonight, young and busy with great ideas about what to do with life, they look like porcelain. Tooru will never be able to unsee the future he has seen for them, and the only thing worse than the hole that has opened up in his stomach since this morning when he saw it, is the fact that he is never, ever allowed to change it. -- moonfall
‘I don’t have time for this,’ he says to Suran out of context, and she makes a sound of agreement. ‘Suran, I need you to hit me with a frying pan about something.’
‘I’ll hit you with a frying pan even without a reason, don’t worry.’ -- tuesday, wednesday, ♡ attack
VOILÀ VOILÀ. in conclusion, i peaked in 2016 and i don’t know why any of you are still here two whole years later thinking i will ever put something good out again. BUT IT WARMS MY HEART. LOVE U GUYS.

A Magical Mysteria (Def Leppard x Reader)
Normally in this space I'd tell you how I started writing this over a year ago and how I'm FINALLY posting it- but I didn't start writing this last year. I started writing this last week. I thought of, and wrote, this all in one night bc honestly... I was high. The idea came and I just rolled with it. I wasn't planning to have another fic to post so soon, and I felt it was only right to post it on Hysteria's 35th anniversary!
(illustration by me! this story is dedicated to @amiscreations bc this is all her fault)
Words: 1,943
Prompt: 1986, you and the Leppard boys all get high around the fire one night. Sav and Phil have a new song for the next album, and you get them to play it for everyone...
-----
July 28th, 1986
Dublin, Ireland
The bright orange flames continued to make the wood crackle and pop underneath it, just as they had done for so long already. Overhead, the navy blue midnight sky stretched from one end of your vision to the next.
Orange and blue, you realized; complementary colors. That fiery, orange glare from the campfire was complemented by the blue night. From this glare, there came a hug full of decadent heat that wrapped around you.
Above you and this artistic intertwining of colors were the twinkling, tiny, glittery bits in space sparkled like some kind of midnight snow. Underneath this intensely still display was cold grass prickling at your skin. You could feel every single blade against your back; like a million tiny fingers poking at you.
As the blue sky slowly spun in a circle far above where you lay, you felt the hand you were holding gently clasp yours. It grounded you only to the being that it was attached to- not the earth itself.
You and Sav were high, all right. You were both very high and floating through space together; you and him. Among the complementary colors of the fire and the great wide open, you flew.
Suddenly, the sensation of something holding your other hand came about. You'd forgotten about the other man you were with. When he reminded you of his presence with his grasp, Phil grounded half of you back to the earth while the other half was still in the sky with Sav.
It was fine with you if you were in between worlds for a little while. There was nothing in your way currently. Nothing stood between you and the infinite beyond.
Joe's face randomly came into view as he looked down at you. He almost completely overshadowed the sky with his hair flopping straight down towards your face.
"Helloo, Y/n? You there on mars yet?" his head tilted from side to side before he cackled and delightfully strolled away from you, Sav, and Phil on the ground. His intention, it seemed, was to ridicule you for being high while he was in quite the same condition.
As you blinked, reality came walking back in. You sat up off the ground, letting go of Sav and Phil's hands. You observed the scene around the fire a few yards away. Everyone partaking in this gathering were still in another world- all of them.
Joe was stepping around and moving his hips to the strumming that Steve was doing. Next to Steve, Rick sat there practicing drumming with his left foot to the beat of Steve's playing. More of your friends- Mike, Russell, Mal, and a few local Irishmen being among them- were either laughing, dancing, or wresting each other.
While the late summer chill in the air didn't affect everyone's skin, breaths were visible against the atmosphere.
"Christ, how long were we up there for?" you asked the men laying on the grass on either side of you.
"Beats me," Phil's eyes remained fixed on above, "I'm still there."
"Me too," Sav seconded, "Still on a magic carpet ride."
You chuckled, crossing your legs and closing your eyes. You pictured yourself swaying on a magic carpet ride as Sav had said, humming the specific tune that was playing loudly in your head from earlier that day.
After a moment, the magic carpet disappeared. You floated back down against the grass like a leaf, laying flat once more.
Rolling over to Sav, you felt his body heat radiate against you like the campfire, and you swore you heard him humming the same tune you were. He rolled over in your direction, too, threw an arm over you, and touched his forehead to yours.
You were floating through space together again. There was perfect sync and perfect harmony all around you, and ample, delicate warmth caressing you both.
Just like last time, Joe's face appeared over both of yours again.
"What's that you're humming, now?" his eyebrows scrunched together.
"Never heard that one before," Mike remarked, further away.
Steve, a few yards away at the fire, commented, "Yeah, sounds like you're tryin' to summon something."
You and Sav opened your eyes, both giggling together. Phil began to laugh close by as well. Rick, in his warped state, caught on to the contagious laughter as well, slapping his knee and wheezing.
"Rick, why are you laughing?" Phil sat up, "You don't know our little secret...!"
"It's funny cos- I don't know why we're laughing-!" Rick continued to laugh so hard at himself, he fell off his makeshift seat and backwards onto the grass. Russell and Mal began silently laughing at him as a result.
"But what is that tune?" Steve pressed again, seemingly mesmerized by the little song to the point where he tried to figure it out on his guitar.
"It's something we've been workin' on," Sav's head tilted sweetly.
"Just a little thing for the new album, hopefully. We had these two-" Phil formed an invisible ball with his hands, "-these two little bits, and they fit perfectly together somehow, then before we knew it- BAM-!" he loudly slapped his hands together, "We got an embryo of a song."
"And you, mister Zeff-" you sternly pointed at Joe, "You didn't like it!"
"What d'you mean, princess?" he sarcastically pointed back, "Better watch what you say!"
"I played it for you last week, and you said it was-" Sav rolled his eyes so hard he almost fell over, then put up air quotes, "'too much like a Police song'."
"But it's perfect and is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard," you insisted, "And Phil thinks so, too!"
"Yeah! Wait, no I don't," Phil caught himself, "It's lovely, but I'm not in love with it-"
"And Phil thinks so, too," you insisted again to Joe. You gasped a little, then looked between the guys on either side of you, "Ooh, that's right- you haven't played it to anyone yet... you should do that now, for everyone!"
In a daze of events you weren't sure of- trying to get everyone's attention, corralling them back around the fire, Sav and Phil locating their respective guitars, and each of them taking another hit of a blunt- you seemed to have only blinked before everyone was circled back at the flames. Rick was sitting next to you, now, and everyone was gathered as if this were a sacred ritual. In your eyes, it was. Anything that was made for Def Leppard's fourth album had to be sacred.
On a night like this, everything felt sacred.
Looking up at those dark, navy blue heavens above you, you whispered, "This was just meant for tonight."
"Shh!" Joe smushed a finger to his lips. You stuck your tongue out at him just before the music began.
Sav counted in the song, both he and Phil then proceeding to pluck and strum it into existence. At that moment, it felt like outer space had descended upon all of you there. It was as if the circle of people around the campfire had begun to slowly rotate as one.
None of the floating or spinning alarmed you; what did was the fact that Sav was playing lead. After all, it was his song, in a way.
You weren't the first person to hear Sav's new jangly idea, but you felt honored that you were the only one there besides the musicians who had heard what became of it.
Everyone was captivated by the trance they created; it took them all on that magic carpet ride the three of you had been on earlier. It was an experience both magical and mysterious.
Phil went from a D, to a G, to a C as he began to softly sing, "I gotta know tonight... if you're alone tonight..."
Sav joined in for the next part, "Can't stop this feeling... can't stop this fire..."
When they reached an empty section in E minor (most likely where a chorus would later be), you could've sworn you saw the music itself fly up into the beyond along with the fire. It was an offering, it felt like. It was nothing short of simply divine.
Perhaps Steve was right, earlier; perhaps they were trying to summon something.
At the end of the chorus, Phil stopped playing. This left Sav to end their ditty with his melody again. He let it fade out on the last note, and everyone watched, speechless.
Rick's head was now slumped on your shoulder, your head leaning on his. Those bouncy curls tickled the side of your face, and his body heat mixed with that of the fire.
You patted his lap and said, "They don't have a name for it, yet, or any other lyrics, but I think it's my favorite so far. And it's hardly even done yet..."
Standing up, you waltzed back over to the spot on the ground where you and the two guitarists had been laying before. As if you mentally called them, they both put down their guitars and went back over to join you. Resuming your former positions of being hand-in-hand with each other, you stared back up at the glitter in the sky. Only, this time, you began to whistle the tune of the song just played by them.
As you rejoined your flight into the midnight depths, you faintly heard chatter back at the fire.
"I think it's all gonna be okay," Russell stared into the flames, resting his head on his hand, "All this insanity is gonna be worth it."
He didn't have to clarify what he was talking about; you were all in sync enough with each other to understand.
"I dunno," Rick disagreed, "I think we're all still sane. Maybe it's the grass."
No one was allowed to speak of any worries that night- it was a rule that did not need to be spoken.
"I like it," Joe remarked, "The song, I mean- not the grass. Well- I mean- I like the grass, too."
He laughed loudly at himself and began to play Sav and Phil's new song on an invisible guitar, "But it's a bit magical, don't you think? And it sounded like it's..." his eyes closed, "...blue."
"But I don't think it was quite sad," Steve told him, "What were you listenin' to?"
Joe corrected his friend, "No, no, I mean it sounds like the color blue. Dark blue; violet, even- Like that sky up there..."
He pointed straight up, tilting his head back to look to the heavens. Everyone still at the fire did the same.
"Hypnotizing like the sky, too... makin' me lift up off my feet..." his hands reached slowly upwards, "I can feel it... can't you?"
Mike's head resumed staring ahead of him, "But I thought you didn't even like this song before-?"
"Never said that," Joe's hands rested on top of his head as he giggled, "Really like it now, though."
Joe's high mind was correct; you were being lifted up and engulfed in the color blue as you kept whistling the tune. You were taking Phil and Sav along with you- higher and higher- as the ground underneath rose up towards the midnight beyond like a pedestal.
And yes, you could feel it.
"We're not too high, are we?" you asked both of them.
"Nah," Sav denied gently, "Not like we're hysterical or anything."
"To us, you are," Rick turned around to stare at the three of you and snicker, "Cos' we all seem to be real experienced with bloody hysteria."
"Yeah, we are," Phil squeezed your hand and let the sky envelop him, "That we are."

Tan Hands and Tan Lines Snarky’s Word Challenge 2021: undulating
Words: ~1000
Rating: Teen and Up
Summary: Blaine arrives at church on Easter and is jealous of Chandler’s outfit.
I’m belatedly going through the prompts for The Tan Hands and Tan Lines Summer Event 2021 to flesh out my Mormon!Klaine universe. This vignette takes place after Easter Hunt.
My Mormon!Klaine Masterpost.
Notes: Is this even smoot? My challenge tag for the Tan Hands and Tan Lines prompts is now “thatl” because “tan hands and tan lines” appears to be blocked for some readers on the iOS app. Fun times! If you have any questions or typo corrections, feel free to use my ask box!
--------
They took the long route to church and did an impromptu hymn sing on their bicycles to help Elder Hummel burn off a little of his Peeps-induced sugar high. But not all of it. He was still peppy and talkative as they locked up their bikes outside the building, his smile almost as wide as his face. That, in turn, made Blaine smile so hard that some previously unknown muscles behind his ears started to ache.
Clearly, Blaine needed to smile like this more often to get those muscles in shape. He trusted that his companionship with Elder Hummel would continue to give him opportunities to exercise them.
“My favorite elders!” Chandler greeted them when they entered the coat closet. He was sitting on a crate in the corner, looking up from the open sheet music in his lap, and dressed head to toe in Easter colors: royal purple shoes, a powder blue suit, a butter-yellow button-down shirt, and bowtie and matching pocket handkerchief covered with tiny pastel flowers that picked up on the other colors in his outfit but was also threaded with a delicious shade of pink that reminded Blaine of SweeTARTS.
It was the kind of look that only certain people could pull off, and Blaine had to hesitantly admit to himself that Chandler had succeeded. In fact, Blaine was right on the edge of coveting the outfit, especially that charming bow tie. He honestly didn't know how he was going to survive the rest of his mission wearing neckties every day.
“Here, let me get your coats!” Chandler hopped up from the crate and offered his assistance to Blaine first, which was a surprise. But maybe that was just so he could linger longer on Elder Hummel.
“You know,” said Blaine, “you don't have to sit in the coat closet.”
“Well, I wasn't sure about protocol when it came to reading in the sanctuary,” Chandler said.
“Oh, that’s fine. And there are the Sunday school rooms, too.”
“Yeah, but I've never been in any of them before. I'd feel like I was breaking in.”
Blaine had somehow forgotten that Chandler hadn't actually been to their church before. And yet he was singing in their choir. How awkward.
“And how is Easter going so far for you both?” Chandler asked, turning to take Elder Hummel’s coat.
“Fantastic!” effused Kurt. “The Easter Bunny—” he nodded his head unsubtly toward Blaine “—visited while I was sleeping and brought dyed eggs that were done so beautifully I wish I could keep them forever, and he hid candy all over the apartment. It was the best candy too. Amazing, American candy.”
“What’s wrong with German candy?”
“Nothing. But this stuff—” Elder Hummel took a deep breath before launching into a fast-paced exposition on the wonders of Peeps, his voice cresting and falling in undulating waves of enthusiasm. “Okay. They're called Peeps, and they're basically this brightly colored marshmallow fluff that’s shaped like little rabbits or baby chickens, and I honestly can't tell you if they taste good on an objective level, but I used to get them in my basket every year when I was a little kid, and when you're a little kid, all you care about is sugar, and every time I eat one, it brings back all those same feelings, and they’re. Just. So. Good! Maybe the Easter Bunny will save one for you and you can try it the next time we see you … if I don't find and eat it first.” Hmmm, so maybe the sugar high hadn't completely worn off quite yet.
Chandler laughed and hung Elder Hummel’s coat next to Blaine’s. He had taken no longer removing it than he had with Blaine, and he hadn’t lingered on Elder Hummel’s shoulders or anything untoward like that.
How odd. Was the crush dissipating? No, that couldn't be possible. Elder Hummel was much too fascinating to burn out on after only a couple of weeks. The thought was downright offensive.
It was more likely that Chandler felt the sacred spirit imbuing the church facilities and had decided to put a damper on his usual over-the-top flirting.
Wait.
Did this mean Chandler had a suave, gentlemanly side?
And why did that thought make Blaine feel so much more uneasy than Chandler’s previously incessant flirting?
Stop judging Chandler and his outfit and his motives, Blaine silently scolded himself. Admittedly, it was a little difficult to do with the guy standing right in front of him.
“I should go warm up before everybody gets here.” Blaine turned heel into the sanctuary before Elder Hummel could tell him to wait. He just needed to sit down for a couple minutes and run through scales and think Christian thoughts.
Thinking Christian thoughts became easier as other choir members trickled in and Chandler became only one of many competing for Elder Hummel’s attention. It became easier yet when they went through one last run. The choir sounded amazing. Not just Elder Hummel and the sister missionaries or Chandler with his formal training. But all of them. The harmonies were clear and crisp and sent waves of emotion through Blaine’s heart, washing away any residue from the uncomfortable thoughts he’d entertained earlier and replacing them with the joyful peace he’d felt sharing Easter breakfast with Elder Hummel. Each voice built on the next, melding together into something greater than the whole as they brought the stagnant notes of the printed page alive. Blaine was reminded of the concert that took place in that dark tomb on the outskirts of Jerusalem two-thousand years before, when atoms and Spirit and breath conspired together to resurrect Christ from the dead.
Blaine’s hands moved over the piano effortlessly as he listened to the song, his whole being filled with love for each voice and each person gifted with that voice.
Including Chandler.
Today was Easter. Blaine’s Savior was alive. And everything was going to be just fine.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Everyone had a soulmate, reciprocated or not. That was a fact you'd learned at a young age. Some were common, like not being able to see colours until meeting them, or being able to hear their thoughts. Some were not so common, such as feeling their physical pain. That one was familiar to you, with one of your closest friends unlucky enough to have it. You were glad it wasn't yours, too. You didn't think you could handle that. Come to think of it, yours had never made itself obvious. You didn't hear their thoughts or feel their pain, you could see colour and you didn't have their birthday on your skin like a tattoo. No, you didn't experience any of the powers you'd read about. You were beginning to think the whole thing was a lie, and that you didn't have a soulmate, but you were proved wrong.
You were only a teenager when it first made its ugly appearance. A boy you'd had a crush on for a while had finally asked you on a date. Naïvely, at the time you thought a crush meant that they were your soulmate. You wondered why people needed any hints, surely having a crush was enough of a sign, right? He'd taken you to the annual summer fair. You knew he didn't like rides that much, but he knew how excited you were. The thought that he would go to an event he wasn't fond of just because you were made your heart flutter. It was a surprise, to say the least, that neither of your parents tagged along on the date to spy on the two of you. You wouldn't have blamed them, after all your parents didn't know him, know what he was like, and his parents didn't know you.
He turned out not to be as shy as you'd thought, not that you minded at all. You were glad he was so comfortable around you, because you were a nervous wreck. And it was his boldness that led you to finally discover what your soulmate power was. You could almost have tasted the lip balm he was wearing then, a sickly sweet flavour you couldn't quite put your finger on. He leant his forehead against yours, noses bumping and sorrys muttered. Your eyes fell closed, waiting for him to kiss you, but he never did. Wondering if he'd played you, your eyes snapped open. The way his cheeks were flushed and his lips were parted told a different story. He was… surprised? About what? Was he not going to kiss you? Maybe you had the wrong idea. "I.. I.." his eyes flickered to the ground and back to you.
For a few days afterwards, he practically ignored you at school. It hurt, the feeling that he had been playing with you making your heart sting. The first words he spoke when he finally did speak to you again were "I'm sorry". You stood in front of him, feeling like a fool but refusing to look like one, although him being in front of you made it hard to speak. "I shouldn't have ran off like that, and I shouldn't have ignored you." He swallowed. "I just- I didn't know what to say and it hurt and.. I think you deserve to know why." You crossed your arms, not warming up to his apology just yet. "I was gonna kiss you, I really was." But you didn't. "But I couldn't." You were confused. Why couldn't he? Did he already have feelings for someone else? Your heart panged at the thought. "Y/N I- I think I know your soulmate power, if that's what you'd call it." You hummed, interested. "When I say I couldn't kiss you.." You waited, heart stopping still. "I physically couldn't. It was as if there was a brick wall between us. I'm sorry, Y/N."
You always knew who to turn to in these moments, and as soon as you got home from school, you went over to your best friend's house. Although at this point it was pretty much your house too, from the amount of time you spent there, Renjun was surprised to see you out of the blue. Within a second, your arms were wrapped around his torso and tears were falling onto his shirt. He asked you what was wrong, offering to make you the biggest hot chocolate you'd ever seen. You sniffled. "I think I know what my power is." Renjun fell silent, pausing his actions. He didn't look at you, just hummed in encouragement, stirring an empty mug. "I went on a date today and.." he dropped the spoon he was holding, a loud metallic clunking ringing out. Renjun cursed under his breath, giving you a sheepish smile.
"He couldn't kiss me, Jun. He tried but he- for some reason he said something was stopping him." Your best friend knew at that moment that two large hot chocolates would be necessary. "If I'd asked what his power was I could've figured out from the start that he wasn't my soulmate." You hugged your knees close to your chest. "Have you figured out yours, yet?" Renjun panicked. What should he say? Should he tell the truth? No, he couldn't. But he didn't want to lie, either, not to you. "Junnie?" He snapped out of his thoughts, flashing you a small smile and shaking his head. He told you that he wasn't all that fussed about soulmates, at least not yet. Come to think of it, he never really spoke about any crushes to you, so this made perfect sense. You, half-jokingly, warned him not to try and kiss anyone in case he had your power too.
Renjun wasn't sure why he'd lied to you. Perhaps it was because you were hurt and he felt uncomfortable with saying the truth. It wasn't the right time, he figured. But now he felt bad because he could've spared you the tears. If only he could bring himself to remind you of a certain memory. It wasn't fair, why could you forget, yet he thought about it all the time? You were only about 7 at the time, so maybe you didn't find it as important as he did to begin with. Maybe he shouldn't have held on to it, but now he knew your power, his heart was going wild. Perhaps, by some wild chance, the puzzle pieces fit. Perhaps, if only he'd mentioned that kiss, you'd realise. Because the same thing that had happened to you, had happened to him a couple of times. It was confusing at the time, but one of his friends mentioned reading about that power once. Just like now, Renjun had remembered kissing you when you were younger. He'd never tell anyone, no, his friends would never let him live it down.
In the end he didn't have to tell you. After a few days crying about your date, you randomly found yourself reading your long-abandoned diary. Most of the things you'd written made you cringe, but the entry for the 1st of November made your breath hitch. It was the day you and Renjun had kissed. Did he remember? He must have forgotten, otherwise why didn't he mention it before? Your cheeks heated up, things suddenly making sense. He could kiss you and no one else could. If he had the same power as you, then that meant you were destined for each other. But that wasn't guaranteed since he still didn't know his power. You knew, though, that such a case wouldn't change a thing. He had always been your soulmate in your head, not necessarily the romantic kind before, but you knew if anything, the bond you shared with Renjun could survive a one-sided soulmate situation.
So there you were, head in his lap as his thumb grazed your knuckles. You wanted to say something, but you were nervous. And he was too, but he managed to fake a calm expression. "Have you ever kissed someone?" As soon as the words left your mouth you regretted them. Was it weird to ask, knowing what the truth was? Renjun gulped, ears turning red. You weren't sure if he remembered kissing you or if he'd kissed someone else since. Oddly, you weren't too fond of the second option. Was it because you were scared that your soulmate bond was one-sided and you'd get hurt? Renjun wasn't sure if he should come clean and remind you that he'd kissed you, or if he should lie and say no, seeing as you clearly didn't remember. But he couldn't, even if it was only one-sided. He couldn't lie to you anymore.
And that's why he stared down at you, his favourite pair of eyes staring back up at him taking his breath away. "You." Both of you felt yourselves blush at the statement. Your heart must've been doing acrobatics inside your chest or something, because it was bouncing around like a kid who'd had too much sugar. "I've only ever been able to kiss you." He hoped you'd get the hint from that. You nearly choked on air when he said that, the sudden realisation that not only did he remember, but that he had the same soulmate power as you. He was yours and you were his, as you'd always been. Renjun's heart couldn't take it. The longer you stared at him without saying a word, he wondered if he'd made things awkward by saying that. Until you spoke.
"Renjun.. kiss me again."

The One With Very Chaotic Pool Party
"Sugar, we're going down swinging."
Peyton knocked on the door harshly, "Ryland! Hurry the fuck up! Everyone's already here and I haven't even gotten to shower!"
A huff came from behind the locked door, "Go use the one in moms' room!"
"Oh! I can't believe I hadn't thought of that!" Peyton rolled her eyes, even though her older sister wouldn't see it.
"See, there you go."
"That was sarcasm, dipshit. Mom is in there."
"Peyton! Don't call your sister a dipshit!" Jisoo yelled from somewhere in the house.
"How did she even hear that?"
Ryland finally exited the bathroom a few seconds later. Her hair was tied back in a immaculate ponytail with a baby blue scrunchie that corresponded with the rest of her hot weather outfit.
Peyton glared at the young woman, "What were you even doing in there? You look exactly the same?"
Ryland gasped, terrified, she quickly backed into the bathroom again and slammed the door shut.
"Sleep with your eyes open." Peyton muttered at the locked door.
"Peyton! Stop threatening your sister!" Jisoo yelled again.
"What the hell?!" Peyton yelped.
You frowned as you left your bedroom, Kaleb sat on your hip, his swim trunks and rashgaurd coincidentally matching Ryland's baby blue outfit.
"Your mom's right. You need to stop threatening your sister with bodily harm when she does something you don't like."
Peyton's frown deepened, "It wasn't a threat. It was a suggestion. I'd hate for it to be an unfair fight."
You just stared at your youngest daughter, "You know, when Lia dropped you on your head as a baby I didn't really think it would manifest itself into this."
Peyton pouted, "Lia dropped me?!"
"Well, technically it was Jisoo and you landed on the bed. Just..head first. In your mother's defense, she didn't know Lia was going to jump onto her stomach. You were on her chest. It was like those big air blob things you see at summer camp on a lake. It was actually kind of funny. You thought it was too while you were in the air. After you landed, not so much."
"And somehow I still love you." Peyton deadpanned. In all honesty, that story made a whole lot of sense.
"I love you too!"
Kaleb tugged on the collar of your shirt lightly, "Build?"
You smiled at your youngest, "Yeah, we can build. I think mama moved your legos outside, is that okay?"
Kaleb thought about it for a second then nodded. He didn't care where his legos were as long as he got to use them.
You urged Peyton along one more time, before setting off to the backyard.

"You're going to burn a whole through the poor kid's head if you don't stop staring." Sana said as she pushed the meat around the grill some more. She didn't know what she was doing really. But she was precariously watching a YouTube video with instructions. YouTube University to the rescue once again.
"She wants to defile my child. I know this as fact. That's all I was thinking about at that age." Jisoo said without breaking her gaze.
"And yet, you remained a virgin until 27. Funny how stuff like that works itself out." Irene spoke up, she shooed Sana out of the way of the grill and set about fixing things.
"If I lost my virginity at 27, how would I have had Lia? Oh, you were joking." Jisoo pouted.
"Got it in one." Irene's words dripped sarcasm, "I thought you got over that. Seulgi and I met at 19 and 18, you didn't seem to have a problem about that then."
"I was also 19 and neither you or Seulgi are my fucking daughter. How would you feel if Maya just suddenly walked into your house claiming your sworn enemy's kid was her mate?"
"I killed all my enemies back in the late 90's."
"Could you give me two seconds of sincerity, Irene? Please." Jisoo's shoulders slumped.
Irene rolled her eyes, "Is Maya happy in this scenario?"
Jisoo looked as though she didn't want to answer that question, "Well...yeah."
"Then I'd be happy for her. Like you should be with Ryland."
Sana nodded along with Irene's statement, "As far as I can tell, neither Rosè or Taylor are bad people. Ryalnd is happy. Shouldn't that be all that matters?"
Jisoo huffed defeatedly, "Fine. You're right. I'm going to go talk to the kid."
Jisoo practically stomped off in the direction of the teenager.
Irene looked on with a proud smile, "You know, Sana? I think our little girl is finally growing up." She wiped a fake tear from her eye.
"The ribs are burning." A voice stated from the side of them.
"Shit!"
"Oh hey, Jennie. When did you get here?"
~•~
"Ryland, do you mind if I scare the shit out of your girlfriend? Thank you." Before Ryland could respond, Jisoo dragged Taylor away by the arm.
Taylor stood up straighter and puffed out her chest, "Hello, Mrs. Kim. My name is Taylor Bae-Park and I-"
"Look, kid. I don't need all of that. I just need to know a few things. Do you love my daughter?"
"With every single breath I take."
Jisoo tried to keep her scowl to a minimum.
"Are you treating her right?"
"I like to think so."
"Are you pressuring her into anything she doesn't want to do?"
"Of course not."
Jisoo sighed, "That's...good to hear. Alright, if you end up going all the way with this thing then so be it. Just promise me this, if she ever starts acting like...well, herself and you can't take it anymore, just bring her back. Her mom and I are use to it."
Taylor nodded stiffly then saluted, "You have my word!"
"Did you just sal-you didn't-I'm not..whatever." Jisoo took a sip of the beer she had completely forgotten was in her hand.
Taylor began to walk away, but Jisoo stopped her, "Hey, Taylor? Tell Chaeyoung I said 'Hi'." Taylor nodded with a smile, then jogged back to the edge of the pool.
Jisoo stayed rooted to the spot, almost jumping out of her skin when arms encircled themselves around her waist.
"That was very hot." You practically purred into Jisoo's ear, "You being all protective mama bear. It's a shame we're hosting this little get together, because if we weren't I'd get down on my knees for you and-"
"Okay! Why don't you put a pin in that thought for now, while I go completely submerged myself in the pool for about 10 minutes, yeah?" Jisoo shuffled out of your arms frantically.
You only laughed hysterically as Jisoo awkwardly hobbled to the pool edge then jumped straight in.
"20 years later. Still got it." You gave yourself a mental pat on the back.

"Jesse Kim! You are way too old for me to have to tell you to stop standing on tables." Lisa shouted up at her son. He had always been a climber. He had given her and Jennie multiple heart attacks as a baby.
Jesse only smiled charmingly at his mother, then set about continuing to do what he was doing, "Friends, Family! I have an announcement to make!"
He had managed to catch everyone's attention, though most of them probably wanted to see if Lisa would throw a shoe at him to get him down.
"As you all know, I was going to go into my second year of college at Julliard, but what you don't know is that last week I got a signed a record deal with Columbia records!" He smiled brightly.
The rest of the partygoers clapped enthusiastically.
"But they suck."
"Peyton!"
"Not only that, but after talking with my 'rents, I've decided to say fuck college and I'm going to perform full time."
"You just couldn't keep it PG, could you?" Lisa took a long sip of her chilled wine. Jesse shook his head with a happy smile.
There's a scraping of a lawn chair against pavement and a dissatisfied huff. No one really notices accept for the people closest.
Jisoo moved to go talk to her oldest daughter, but stopped when a hand is placed on her shoulder.
Jennie shook her head subtly, "I think I have some aunting to do on this one."
Jisoo looked a bit skeptical, but let Jennie walk off in Lia's direction nonetheless, "Alright, but come get me if you need me."
"I got this, Chu."
Lia had stormed around the house to the front stoop. She sat on the step with a huff. An angry tear hit her cheek just before being forcibly wiped away.
"What's up, Li?" Jennie sat on the step next to her. She had a feeling she already knew what the problem was, but it wouldn't do her any good to assume and be wrong.
"...I was supposed to be like you and Aunt Seulgi. But no, I just had to get that stupid disease and it just had to ruin my fucking voice." Lia squeezed her eyes shut to prevent the oncoming spillage of tears. There's an idle throb in her throat as if to taunt her.
Jennie rubbed her back softly, "I know that this is hard for you, Kid. If I knew Jess had planned on doing that, I would have talked him out of it. You know how he gets."
Lia only shrugged and shook her head, "It's whatever. What's done is done. Peyton commited to SUNY. I should be used to it."
"I don't think you should have to get used to your life passing you by. You're not a failure. So, what? You can't sing anymore, but that's not all you are. You're a successful youth soccer coach. You just graduated college. You're completely independent of your parents. Those are all things to celebrate."
Lia nodded softly. Jennie did have a couple of points, "It's just...hard."
"I know, Li, but you're not alone. You've got me, your parents, your siblings, and all of your other family and friends to help."
"Yeah, okay." Lia nodded.
"Now, you want to get back to this party?"
Lia nodded resolutely, "Yeah. Mama said I have to beat Taylor in a game of Chicken Fight to assert my dominance."
Jennie only sighed, "Yeah, that sounds about Jisoo."

____________________________________
Chapter One: Unwelcome Start
My feet are killing me and its hot and dark, I'm walking through unfamiliar woods. All I can smell is tree leaves decaying and pine. To fill you in without telling you my life story and having a pity party, I'm one of the few shifting Dire Wolves left. We are a dying breed since people and monsters were coexisting now, I'm over joyed about the mixing of the populations but as the wolves breed with humans our ability to shift is slowing leaving as the generations grow. I on the other hand wasn't liked by much of anyone. I grew up around old town human folk. Both parents had been killed by townsfolk and luckily the little who girl found me as a puppy was nice enough to bring me to her home. That little girl became my life. Her blonde hair reminded me of wheat in the fall and she smelled of old moth balls and freshly cooked bacon. Kasey was a lonely child born a bastard and then left alone when her mom left into town one day. She didn't come home that night. She had the kindest eyes. They say eyes are the window to the soul and hers was broken and glued back together so many times that you couldn't recognize her original beauty. She brought me to a little cabin back in the woods where I stayed with her and her grandmother. I stayed out of school because at the time freaks weren't exactly normal. I learned everything through Kasey and her homework as I grew up. We played in the old field through the woods and down an old forgotten gravel road. She would always tease me about my ears but she loved my big bushy tail. Kasey was a pure soul and sometimes id have to remind her how special she was especially during the times to come. She became ill in late fall, losing her ability to walk and becoming more and more pale from the lack of sunlight. We were told she had an immune issue that couldn't be fix with the medicine we had then and magic was a cure but was also out of the question since anyone who was seen as a witch was seen as a harm to the community and burned at the stake. It wasn't that way in the big towns with lots of people coming and going bustling about, but down here in the boon dock of the forgotten swamp everyone had the same opinion. anything new and different was and and therefore had to be destroyed.
When I was around six Kasey succumb to her unfortunate circumstances in her sleep and she took her welcome with her. I think that maybe it was one of the few mercies I've ever seen god do for someone. After she died the grandmother, already being on her last years, passed not long after that. With nothing holding me to that little shack in the woods I moved on. I was never given a name and so along the way I've figured out who and what I am. Remind me to tell you that one later on, I've been walking for a few days with my satchel made from rabbit fur with old shoe laces holding it together, Kasey in her better days stayed bored in her old pink bedroom reading the same book she had on the old bookcase in the living room. Her grandmother went to the market in town most days to sell her vegetables. she would bring us home sweets and toys. For Kasey's birthday she bought her a bag of fabric rabbit fur and some thread and needles to teach her to sew hoping that would cure her boredom. A few months before she passed, she hurriedly finished off the synch bag with one of her shoelaces from her boots. That bag is the one I have with me now. My clothes and few days worth of food is in it as well. I had been shifted into my wolf form going on 48 hours now and my (F/C favorite color ) fur was now stained with mud and leaves from the nights sleep in a dug out hole. The last sign of civilization was back in my home town. it was now night time again and had seen no sign of a town any where close. It was getting dark and my joints were burning from the pain of walking. I quickly found a soft spot in the ground digging up a little hole to lay in for the night. The woods around me creaked with shifting wood and wind rustling the foliage. Harry had become the governor a while back suddenly disappeared recently in his home base in Lunaris. That's where Kasey's grandmother went for hours everyday to be a part of the market so I decided to see if there was anywhere I could stay and maybe get a job and start a life for myself. All this time I had no real name, Kasey never named me. She wanted me to be able to choose it for myself and I'm now 20 in human years. Our bodies aged in human instead of dog years another kind of pro with the watering down of the generations. I had gone through all of Kasey's family and school friends, even people she heard the name of by passing by in church, I'd heard all the names and thought about them and said them all out loud the see how they role off the tongue and I finally settled on (Y/N) tonight.
I had fallen asleep at some point and shifted back into human form curling around my bag to protect it from the outside. Suddenly the ground around me started to shake and the foliage covering the entrance to the den started to shake loose and fall in. At this point I'm wide awake and have my back to the wall and head in a snarl towards the entrance not knowing why or what had shaken the ground so harshly. I smell a fowl smell that reeks of something I've never smelled before. It began to burn my nose like alcohol or whatever grandma had in the wash rooms for spring cleaning. I heard twigs breaking and a long groan that howled with the wind. My heart was racing not knowing what to expect to come through the entrance and that's when I saw the light from the moon blocked by a large shadow. I braced for a fight when suddenly it let out a yelp of pain as I see two or three other shadows chase it to the right of the hole. Lots of yelling from men and women can be heard along with lots of new smells. All of them had hints of sweat and fear but some of them were odd. One was carried in on a breath of lavender and honey and the other of burnt wood like a fire place. One also smelled like chocolate and for a split second I smelled the familiar canine sent, Another wolf or maybe a half breed Lykan. I laid there and listened as the group seemed to quickly dominate whatever that creature was and if there's a group of hunters then there has to be a town. I wait for the noise to die out before I stick my head out of the hole to check my area. I look at the position of the moon and start to get a better idea of how long I was asleep. I think it must have been at least 3 in the morning. I grabbed my bag and pulled myself out of the hole, shaking off loose dirt and changing myself back into that big furry wolf I've become used to and walk towards where I heard the commotion to catch the scent of where they had gone. The creature they fought was dead on the ground covered in its black oozing blood. It looked like a genetic mutation of some kind gone very wrong and the smell almost could knock you out, if your a dog that is. I heard a snap of a twig in the distance and that's when I caught the scent of a dying summer, decaying flowers and dying memories.
I see a blue glow coming from an object a few feet in front of me hidden in the darkness of the trees, whatever it was it made it very clear that I was unwelcome and that I was seen as a threat. I bent neck down feeling the hair along my spine start to stand on end as I snarled my teeth in the direction of the ominous blue glow. Suddenly the tense feeling in the air dropped, you could feel the tension melt away and in that second the strange creature pushes forward into the moonlight. A man with golden eyes and a mechanical arm moves forward looking with his hands raised. "My names Finnegan and I know you wont hurt me because your not just any wolf am I right?" The sudden question brushes me as weird and out of place but regardless it only makes me all the more persistent that he not come any closer. He stops in his tracks and sits in the tall grass he had been previously standing in. We sat there like that for what seems like forever and he seemed to feel talkative because he asked question after question. I looked around to think of what direction I wanted to go in order to get away from here .
"You know it would be easier to go to Lunaris." he said picking at something under his nails. I look at him tilting my head, can he hear my thoughts? I didn't think humans could do such things but he didn't look like a human. Not with the fangs like that and those pointed ears. "No I'm not human I'm a vampire, I live in Lunaris with my friends. I actually have a Lykan friend as well so you wont be alone." I bent my ears back in annoyance, tired of the vamp imposing on my thoughts. I decided I would speak with him but not in this form. As a Lykan I could still stay able to protect myself and be able to speak to this other freak of nature in front of me. In order to do so I'd have to get away from this vampire long enough to cover myself. Almost instantly the vamp got up causing me to jump. "There's a graveyard a little ways from here, you can shift and change in the maintenance shed. As I'm sure you heard earlier there are some odd creatures in these woods so ill walk you to town myself. Then I can take you to Ezra and have him give you a once over." he began to walk and turned around about five feet away to ask if I was going to follow, I decide that this town might be a start to a weird series of events. We made our way through the woods to a small path of cleared trees and some sand, we followed that to the graveyard behind a large church like building and that's when I saw the small shed. "I'll stand behind the shed towards the woods I'm sure nobody is awake so you shouldn't have to worry about townsfolk." I shifted back into my Lykan form and hurry into the shed. My (hair length) (H/Color) hair fell over my face as I shoved myself into my tight jeans and put my long sleeve white shirt on. my ears still sat on the top of my head and my tail is swishing back and forth in anticipation of how this town was going to accept a new comer and a freak at that. I threw on the hoodie I had found hanging on a tree on my way out of my old town, probably left by one of the boys in the old town. I smoothed my fur down and walked out of the shed with my bag in my hands, I peaked my head around the corner and caught the golden eyes of the man called Finnegan as he's leaned against the shack with his arms crossed.
I walk up to him with my arm wrapped around my bag and offered him the other. "My names (y/n), sorry about the weird introduction but I really just have no clue where I am or where I'm going." he grinned and studied me before opening up and talking again. "You cleanup really well don't you (y/n)." I simply lowered my head as a response and shrugged my shoulders. " It would suck to have to stay as wolf all the time because I'm just to ugly to look at as a Lykan." he laughs flashing his fangs and approaching me and taking my hand pulling me closer to him to where we were inches apart. "Ugly is one thing you aren't, if your this pretty as a Lykan then I cant wait to see you in human form" he then snuck his arm around my waist turning me around as he began to walk to the town. "How did you know I could do that?" I stopped him and I could see his grin form as he turned around to meet my eyes. "I've been alive a long time (y/n). when the old man who sired me was alive he'd tell us stories of the dire wolves that lived in the forest in the mountains. He would tell us stories of how they had almost repopulated in a town not far from here, completely unannounced to the world growing among the town folk." he looked away suddenly his essence changed from one of wisdom and confidence to one of remorse and sadness. He began to walk once again motioning for me to follow. "That is until the townsfolk caught wind of such rumors. He banded together the higher ups and went through exposing half the town to be," he grimaces as if saying the name leaves a sour taste in his mouth, "werewolves as the humans put it." We had just made it through a small alley leading too a large stone road. This is the first time I've heard the real story aloud of what happened to my parents that day. Suddenly I didn't feel much like talking anymore and the vampire noticed this as we made it to the closed up and dark market side of town. Large tents and shacks were on both sides of the road, I'm sure it looks much nicer when its open and bustling with people. "I'll have to show it to you." he says suddenly again answering my thoughts as if id said them aloud. "You know Finn I love your interest in me but I think its kind of of rude to read others thoughts right?" His eyes suddenly dart away and clears his throat, "Not if the person has particularly loud thoughts but I do see what you mean. Nasty habit it is, been aiming to fix that." We both laugh for a bit and then he heads for a door on the right side of the road raising his metal arm to touch the door. When his hand makes contact, Finn says a few words in another language and his arm burst to life flowing with blue lights. The door makes a noise and a shield seams to lower into Finn's hand as he opens the door. He pulls me in and I'm immediately overwhelmed at the smells around me, some fragrant like perfumes and others dirty like burning wood. He had shelves of boxes and books, homemade spells and food with jars of candy lining the shelves.
Finn puts the wards back up and leads me to the kitchen where he sits me down at the wooden table across from the couch and the wall covered in art work, "Wait here while I run upstairs and get the witch you just relax and think if anything hurts or needs to be looked at." with Finns vampy speed skills he vanishes up the stairs to get this so called witch, I certainly do hope I don't meet the same fate as my parents once did in this town years ago. I here rustling and movement up the stairs as a dark skinned man comes running to me with worried eyes and open arms. he cups my face in his hands and scans me over for any sign of blood or wounds. "Finnegan she looks alright, you made her out to be as if she'd been attacked." He looks back at Finn letting go of my face in order to hit him in the head just enough to scuffle his hair. He then turns around to me and straightens up his robe and his curly mop of hair, I hold out my hand to introduce myself and he grabs it with both hands pulling me in with a smile. "I'm Ezra and this my little spells and Knick knack shop." he has a strange contagious happiness that causes my worries and doubts to slip away. He rubs his hand through my hair making his way to my ears checking for ticks and mites since my ears are much different from human ears. "Are you ok," He says we a worry filled smile and motions me to sit down, I obey as my feet have become numb after so many days of walking. He reaches into his shelves and pulls out a kettle and a metal box of herbs and tea bags for homemade blends. "Go on love what happen? Why are you out in the woods at this hour?" I yawned in response of all their questions and simply said, "No disrespect Ezra but I'm exhausted and my feet are throbbing, I think the walking has caught up to me." He nods knowing what I mean. Ezra hands me a cup of tea and some cookies from a jar up in the cabinet. "Right I'm sorry. Let me help Finn out and I'll come back and run you a bath with herbs and salts to get you well rested and ready for tomorrow." He and Finn stepped to a hatch underneath the rug in Ezra's common quarters. I took a few cookies sneaking them into my bag so that I can eat them later as well, they were ( favorite kind ) cookies and i couldn't resist the temptation to stuff my face.
Finn calls my name waving as he disappears into the hole and Ezra closes it back up and covers it again. "Alright now to get you all set, come with me up stairs." I follow behind slowly hating every step up those stairs but it was well worth it when I made it. He had a big circle tub surrounded in stone, it looked to be able to fit two people and the water come up pretty high. The twinkling lights hanging from the ceiling were different shades of blue purple and pink with a magical blue flamed candle hanging on the wall in a glass case. The tub was filled with steaming water and flower petals, the room smelled of pine and mint with citrus chopped up into slices and dropped into the water. Bubbles had covered the top of the water like snow and smelled like lavender and honey. His bathroom was pure happiness and love expressed in his home. "Now this bath should help your muscles not be sore in the morning and it should help you fall asleep tonight, I hate to ask but should I check you for ticks or scratch's anywhere on you?" I shrugged as my body was still covered in fur and it could be hiding anything but I was so self conscious about my body that I wouldn't dare ask for his help with this task. I point my head down and hugged myself as if to comfort myself. Ezra looked at me with kind eyes and hands me a towel, "Its ok if you aren't comfortable with it, just promise me you'll come and let me take any off for you. They carry lime disease and other things that can harm you!" as he goes to grab the handle to leave I grab his arm. I muster up all the courage I can and whispered, "Can you stay and help me Ezra?" He smiles and blushes slightly, wrapping me in a hug, "of course!" He closes the door and stays turned around as I take my clothes that I have on now off and grab the robe from the wall and cover myself. "Alright your ok to look now." I say in a small voice. "Alright I'm gonna start with your legs and work my way up and after your done you can use my cats flea shampoo to make sure everything is clean and gone. I nod my head agreeing and let him begin, he rubs his soft hands over my paw pads massaging as he goes looking for any bumps or imperfections. He comes across a tick that had made itself at home on my inner thigh , he poked and prodded at it for a few minutes but it was resistant to all his attempts. "You know fur is great but I just don't think I could do a full body of it." He laughs and I return his joke with a giggle of my own. "Would it be easier if there was no fur?" I ask searching his face for his reaction. At first he looks confused and he seemed to be racking his brain for what I could be saying. "Well I'm certainly not going to shave you if that's what your asking." he smiles and we both laugh. I trusted Ezra I didn't sense any type of misjudgment or threat coming from this simple witch.
I began to shift into my human form and my leg grew smaller in his hand and the once thick course fur is now bare soft human skin. The robe that was a perfect fit before, is now hanging down off my shoulders. It draped around me like a sheet and Ezra had stayed quiet so far, only staring wide eyed and enchanted at the sight. My hair falls in front of my face as I smile at him, "Is that any better?" He's still not said a word so far, just staring at my face and rubbing my legs searching for the fur that was no longer there. "Now how did you do that? spell? hallucinations? Are you even a wolf?" He seems stunned and unsure of what to say, he did however have lots of questions some of which I could answer and others was searching for myself. We talked while taking the ticks that had made themselves at home on me off finally, burning them as he went. his hands glided over me like soap and his hands felt like heaven against my skin. "I'm honestly stunned I didn't think of it before you told me, I remember in school they use to mention small things about dire wolves but they never dove into that chapter which I guess was because you guys were believed to have died out long ago. but behold!" he places some bubbles on my he'd and smiles so wide that his eyes look squinty. "your here1 So obviously the world didn't lose all of its beautiful one of a kind dire wolves." What a sweet happy minded guy, he seemed to only be able to see the silver lining and if he could see the other side of things then he hides his emotions very well. It didn't take much for the mud and dirt that was previously there to fall away into the soapy water. Ezra had gone to make himself a cup of tea and was waiting in his room for when I was done. My hair had been shampooed and I washed my body with the bar of soap sitting on the side of the tub. It was green and purple but see through, there was a small flower in the middle and there seemed to be small beads in the soap that came out as you washed. It smelled like roses and vanilla, the smell reminded me of Ezra. Soon I got out and dried myself off with the lavender towel Ezra had left behind, throwing the robe on and heading to where Ezra had said his room was. He had laid out a large t-shirt and a pair of women's shorts? I hadn't seen a women in here before and no-one had said anything about a wife or girlfriend ... maybe they were a friend of his, at least that's what I'm hoping. As soon as my head hit the soft feather pillow I drifted off into a deep sleep, filled with dreams of of cookies, flowers, and Ezra? oh, Finnigan as well. Seems I simply cant escape the happenings of tonight or the past. My memories slowly drift back to that little blonde haired girl I had loved once before.

We flew to Portugal today for the summer holidays (coincidentally the first time I'll be out of the my home country for my birthday as far as I know!) ✈️
We flew out from Stansted Airport. I'd checked online, and saw that they offered sunflower lanyards for people with invisible disabilities, like other airports, but also offered autism wristbands that entitle you and 3 immediate family members to fast track, plus staff can provide better help if they're aware that you are autistic. 🌻
The wristband was easy to get: you don't need proof of diagnosis (which would have been a load of paperwork to bring), and it's not just for kids. The instructions were easy to follow, and the ability to use the disability lane meant getting through security and queues was very quick. ♿
I got pulled over as I had forgotten to empty my water bottle, but I felt a lot less anxious than on previous occasions (I'm often pulled over for something wrong with my luggage 😂) as I knew staff could tell I was autistic and I wasn't as scared that a misunderstanding could lead to serious problems.
The wristband is fairly subtle. You get the choice of pink or blue. You do need to keep it displayed for staff, but the print is small enough that the general public wouldn't notice/would assume it was some kind of charity wristband.
I was given the choice of a lanyard OR a wristband. I'm unsure if you can get both if you have autism and another invisible disability. 💫
The wristband is comfy. It could potentially be too small for some, but fine for me (I'm unsure if they have a larger size for those who need it). It doesn't look childish either.
Boarding was quick (the waiting area was basically empty since it was early flight). We got on first (with the children/babies), and the staff were happy to answer questions (as I wasn't sure if the wristband entitled me to early boarding).😊
The flight itself was similar to every other one. No sleep because of loud children and uncomfortable seats, which is fairly standard. 😴
Overall, the wristband scheme is a step in the right direction, in my experience. I felt much less anxious, and much more confident. I wasn't as afraid that I may be deemed suspicious due to my stimming, and was less concerned when I was pulled over. 👍
It would be nice if a sensory room was available (though we wouldn't have had time to use it on this flight, it would have been good for intercontinental flights). I also wish you could pre-order the wristband online, as I was quite nervous about whether we would have time to get it. But overall, I think the airport did a good job! 😁
(image description: my wrist with a blue wristband on reading: 'special flyer. MAG London Stansted airport'. There are pillows and a Pokémon plush (squirtle) in the background).

"Now this bath should help your muscles not be sore in the morning and it should help you fall asleep tonight, I hate to ask but should I check you for ticks or scratch's anywhere on you?"
