…imagine Bruce meeting a version of Jason that was never picked up by the League of Assassins, never regained his memories, and just kinda… moved on. Built himself a new life.
So he’s alive.
But he isn’t Jason.
Sure, he’s the same person in like a cosmic sense, but he’s completely different. He doesn’t act like how he used to, doesn’t even recognize them.
That’d probably be heart-wrenching to Bruce. Sure, he’s happy Jason is alive, but it feels hollow.
But it’s not something he can/should do anything about. It’s only a tragedy to him - Jason is alright with how things are. Sure, he’s probably a tad curious, but he doesn’t need to remember. He’s doing fine, and he doesn’t actually carry any emotional attachment to his old life. If anything, it’d probably be actively uncomfortable to interact with them - they all have preconceptions and emotional investment about him while to him they’re just strangers.
#idk if this is anything#i wrote this at like 3 am#i’ve just been thinking about like. there’s no intrinsic moral value to regaining lost memories#the amnesiac can move on. the tragedy is only in the ones who *do* remember#and *to them* it’d be great if the amnesiac remembered. but trying to force it if they don’t want to should IMO be considered morally bad#dc#batman#amnesia
