Text
james and barty who, contrary to popular belief, grew up together. their fathers both worked at the ministry together, and with both families being well-respected pureblood lineages, it was in both of their best interests to let their sons of similar ages play together. and so they did.
james and barty who always found themselves on opposite sides of a war. whether it was supporting different quidditch teams, or getting sorted into different houses, or each befriending a different black brother and getting caught in their feud, or eventually the real war where they stood on opposite ends of a battlefield.
james, who was betrayed by barty before peter even considered turning. barty, who saw the face of one his first friends right before he died.
