I am looking 👀👀👀. I’ve heard of some situations where members of a church go up to someone and are basically like “listen, we know you’re not a christian but everyone else either has too bad stage freight and/or literally puts everyone to sleep, and you’re charismatic so can you just get up on the pulpit, say some basic stuff about god and the bible? Just for now”

And well since it’s temporary + ava gets to see what kinda bsing he would be allowed to get away w as the pastor of the church and it’s funny to him, he accepts.

But then maybe a bit down the line ava realizes that as a “christian” pastor, even though they aren’t and will never be an actual christian, she can actually make a positive difference in that church that’s cathartic to see esp given his bg of being raised by nuns. In which case beatrice could be like, trying to find a way for her faith and queerness to co exist and happens to visit and/or hears of ava’s church when she)s in the area

OR ava just decides pastoring is an easy enough gig, might as well see how much he can bs while getting paid for it without anyone catching onto his bsing he can get away w. (Or some mix of both)

In which case he definitely didn’t account for someone (Beatrice) in the congregation actually paying attention when the bible was being read.
