i’m currently unable to produce art for a long while thanks to IRL circumstances, but that’s not going to stop me from letting ideas come to my head.

on and off i’m currently thinking of different au designs for moritsune, since half of the fun of making an osomatsu-san character is getting to imagine what role they’d play in a different universe. i haven’t done a single drawing for any of these, but it’s nice to ponder.

for the youkai au, my main idea is a yamabiko or kodama. the idea of soundwaves is a core idea here. i won’t lie, the majority of my love for this au comes from a preexisting love of touhou project, so a lot of my youkai knowledge is very dependent on it. if anyone has a similar youkai they feel encompasses the denpa genre or feels particularly “alien” by even youkai standards, i’d love to hear it.

for the denki mystery au, i actually don’t have a solid idea despite this au’s popularity. i’m thinking of pulling my inspiration from preexisting media such as kusarihime, higurashi, and the like—i’ve lived in suburban texas for over half of my lifespan, but i hope to capture that mysteriously quiet and melancholic village vibe the best i’m able to.

not really an au, but i’ve played around with the idea of moritsune being associated with hydrangeas as a symbolic floral motif. personally, hydrangeas bring to mind the idea of spring rainfall and (again) melancholy, but looking up a list of motifs myself is what actually lead me to make a final decision; hydrangeas (meaning can vary by color) can symbolize a desire to be understood, apologies, heartfelt emotion, sincerity, and pride, which are motifs i’ve been trying to play around with a lot more regarding moritsune’s character, even moreso following previously mentioned circumstances.

for the musical au: ohhh boy. i haven’t thought a whole lot about this au to be honest, but i’ve played around with the idea (take a shot every time i say this) of a retro americana take on what moritsune’s deal is. i’m thinking of either going in a veronica sawyer from heathers direction, or going FULL geek and making them similar to michael mell from be more chill. like the youkai au, it’s mostly just an excuse to create a love letter dedicated to some of my interests, both new and old. i like the nickname “sherwood” for this moritsune, considering it’s just a bastardization of “shinnosuke moritsune”, along with being the actual name of the (fictional) town heathers takes place in.

that’s all i have for now, but i might reblog with more ideas that come to my mind or any ideas by other people i find interesting. i’ve been trying to be more creatively open and transparent on here and i hope it comes across clearly.
