RP With Sanders-Sides-RP-Blog-12
Who: Patton and Roman.
Part: Twenty Five.
General Notes: When Patton woke up this morning, he was a regular guy. Now he’s come to find out that he was kidnapped as a baby and he’s actually a Prince, who’s set up in an arranged marriage with another Prince named Roman. How will Patton react to so much changing in his life all at once? Especially when neither of the young princes want to marry someone they’ve just met?
Warnings: None just lots of cute.
ROMAN
Janus expected immediate backlash for what he had said. He expected yelling, screaming, curses, being told off, not... enthusiasm? "I- okay? Uh well that's obviously something that we could do..?" he says. "I don't want to risk turning him back manually, as that might harm him, I've never dealt with... this before, so I'm assuming that he's going to be like this long enough for that- and we might as well make this fun for him, right?" he says, waiting for Virgil to return with Logan. Roman nods a bit. Patton's idea was actually pretty good... "I mean... Patton, you do have a pretty good idea there- we can make it really fun for him!" he says with a smile. Remus nods as well. "Yeah... is he just- physically small? Or mentally as well?" he asks. Janus thinks. "I think mentally as well...? He seemed to be more... open, like- emotionally?" he says.
PATTON
Once Logan was changed, Virgil looked him over, smiling. "Looking good, you warm enough?" he asked, Logan giving a small nod, glancing at the door. Clearly, all he cared about was going to see Roman and Remus, which was understandable because they were the only two people here that Logan technically knew. Virgil just wasn't sure how Logan was going to react since Roman and Remus were both a lot older than Logan was probably expecting them to be all things considering. Would he even believe that was them? Or would he not recognize them since they weren't like... 10 and flip out? Virgil supposed they'd just have to cross that bridge when they came to it. "Okay, let's go see your cousins." Virgil said, trying not to sound as panicked as he actually felt. He led Logan over to the door, opening it and watching Logan as he exited the room, dang even little he still had that serious expression.
Patton was pretty good at finding a way to put a positive spin on any situation, so he saw no reason not to make this unexpected problem into a way to celebrate Logan and make him feel loved. Despite Logan's serious expression, the second he spotted Roman and Remus it surprisingly disappeared and his entire little face lit up. Virgil didn't think he'd ever seen Logan that happy before, what a relief, so apparently Roman and Remus' ages didn't matter. Seriously... what a relief. Virgil let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding in as Logan ran over to his cousins, hugging Roman's leg. Patton literally had to cover his mouth to keep from squealing over how cute this all was. "Roman, Remus!" Logan said excitedly when he reached them. It was a relief, a relief to actually see people he knew and recognized since he wasn't even sure where he was right now or how he'd gotten here let alone everyone else in the room.
ROMAN
Roman's eyes widened a bit when Logan ran into the room because holy shit that was Logan but he looked like he was four again and yeah, that was exactly the Logan that he remembered, running up to him excitedly and grabbing him, smiling at him. "Hey Lo!" he says with a big smile, his voice excited and loud as it usually had been when they were children. "Been a little while since I've seen you hasn't it?" he asks, before he quickly scoops Logan up into his arms, spinning him around the room with a little laugh. Remus grins, because oh my god Logan was a baby again and it was worrying but really freaking cute- And Janus had an answer to his question now- Logan was definitely mentally younger as well.
PATTON
The smile stayed on Logan's face as Roman scooped him up and spun him around, letting out a small laugh. Mostly, Logan just seemed comfortable, like his mind wasn't going a mile a minute trying to remember all the things he wasn't suppose to do and all the emotions he wasn't suppose to show. He just... was. Virgil grabbed a box of toys and games that he kept around to entertain his nieces and nephews when they came over, setting it down in the living room so Logan could dig through it and find ways to entertain himself throughout the day. Patton smiled more before looking back at Janus. "He's so cute, when he turns back can I be next? This looks fun!" Patton said quietly before looking back at Logan. "Kids probably starving, I'll make breakfast." Virgil offered as he headed into the kitchen, letting Logan, Roman, and Remus have their adorable moment together. Logan took a moment to study Virgil, Janus, and Patton, Roman and Remus didn't seem to have a problem with them, so he supposed what Virgil had said outside about them all being friends checked out. He then returned his attention to Roman and Remus.
ROMAN
Roman smiles. He really missed having Logan be like this... relaxed, not worrying all the time. He holds Logan in his arms, smiling at how happy and excited Logan seemed. Remus walks over, and he takes Logan out of Roman's arm, which leads to Roman frowning a bit from wanting to hold the kiddo. "Hey Logan-! What's up?" he asks, ruffling his hair, tossing Logan into the air and then quickly catching him again. Janus nods a bit at Virgil, watching him go as he went into the kitchen. He watches Logan interact with the twins and it absolutely melts his heart how... soft and carefree Logan seemed.
PATTON
Patton headed into the kitchen to fill Virgil in on the whole, birthday redo idea. Well, if the whole day was going to be all about Logan's birthday, he was pretty sure he had a recipe in one of his cook books for Strawberry Jam French Toast, and he bet he could use Crofters to make it, which definitely sounded like the perfect Logan Birthday Breakfast. Logan looked back at Remus when he felt him take him from Roman's arms, letting out another laugh when Remus messed up his hair before suddenly tossing him in the air. He wanted to ask Remus to do it again, but he was still pretty distracted by the three strangers and trying to figure out why they were in this random house. "Who's that?" Logan asked Remus, pointing to Virgil in the kitchen.
ROMAN
Remus smiles at Logan being so giggly and excitable, and he looks where he's pointing, seeing Logan's little finger pointing to Virgil. "That's my boyfriend, Virgil." he tells him. "He's training to be a Knight for the kingdom!" he says to him with a little smile. Roman nods. "Yeah- Virgil's really nice- we're actually all in his house right now." Roman says, figuring that if Logan didn't know who Virgil was, then he definitely wouldn't know where they were. Janus just stayed a bit back- children were usually scared of him, he thought it best to keep his distance for now.
PATTON
Logan listened as Remus and Roman explained, nodding along to show he was listening as they answered his question. Okay, well, if Virgil was dating his cousin, he must've been a nice guy, so Logan supposed he could trust the kindness that Virgil had shown him earlier. "Who's that?" he asked, his hand moving from pointing to Virgil to pointing to Patton. He was pretty much just going to keep doing this until he figured out who everyone was. Logan always had been the sort of kid that asked a lot of questions, not that it was probably all that surprising knowing who he grew up to be. Patton set the table just as Virgil finished up, putting some plates together with the french toast and bacon that he'd made, adding a bit of fruit as well. "Breakfast is ready." Virgil said before looking back at Logan in his boyfriend's arms and yeah, he was little, Virgil was pretty sure he had a booster seat or something he could sit on so he could actually look at the other people at the table while he was eating without having to sit up on his knees instead of sitting comfortably, but before Virgil could even start to look, Logan seemed to have realized what they were about to eat. "Crofters!" he gasped, causing Virgil to let out a laugh, happy with the choice he'd made for breakfast that day upon seeing Logan's reaction.
ROMAN
Roman looks to where Logan points next, seeing Patton. "Oh that's Patton-!" Roman says with a smile, and then he hesitates. He can't tell Logan that Patton is his husband, but he doesn't want to directly lie to the kid. "He's my partner." he decided on, giving Logan a little smile, which only widens at seeing his excitement at the Crofters. Remus grins, before getting up to carry Logan over to the table- and then he realizes that Logan needs a higher place to sit. "Vee? Are we going to put a pillow or something underneath of Logan?" he asks him, walking over to his boyfriend, standing near him. Janus walks into the kitchen, and he gives a small smile to Virgil and Patton. "Thank you for making breakfast."
PATTON
Logan nodded. Okay, so Virgil and Patton were dating Remus and Roman, so they must be nice. "Who's that?" he asked, moving to point to Janus. "Right, I was looking for something." Virgil said, unable to find the booster seat he was almost positive he had for his nieces and nephews so he just grabbed a pillow off the couch, figuring that'd work just as well, setting it on the chair for Logan. "There you go, buddy." Virgil said with a smile. When Janus thanked him and Patton, he smiled. "Of course." Virgil said before sitting down, making sure to leave the seats on either side of Logan open and available since he'd probably want to sit next to his cousins. Logan was practically bouncing in Remus' arms, more than ready to start eating that Crofters.
ROMAN
"That's Janus." Roman tells Logan. "He's the kingdom advisor- he's nice- and he's smart too." he tells Logan. When Janus hears his name, he gives a little wave to Logan. Remus sets Logan down on the pillow chair, sitting on one side of him, Roman sitting on the other side of Logan. Janus sits down as well, leaving the seats next to Roman and Remus open for Virgil and Patton. Roman takes some of the French toast, moving to put it on Logan's plate. "How much do you want, Lo?" he asks him.
PATTON
Logan studied Janus as he listened to Roman. So, Janus, apparently according to Roman, was smart... maybe a good person to go to when he was full of questions, and Logan was very often full of questions. Seeing Janus give him a small wave, he gave a tiny wave back in return. Virgil sat himself next to Remus, Patton sitting on the other side of Roman. Logan reached for the food as Roman started putting it on his plate. "More, more." he said, making grabby hands for the French Toast since he knew there was Crofters. Virgil let out a small laugh, Patton having to hold back a giggle himself. "You want bacon too? Or fruit?" Virgil asked, hoping Logan would eat more than just the food that involved Crofters. Logan gave a small nod, but clearly his attention was fully on the jam.
ROMAN
Janus' heart practically melted when little Logan laved back, he thinks that the cuteness is going to kill him. Roman puts as much French toast as he thinks is healthy for a child to consume onto Logan's plate- which is a fair bit- before he puts some of the bacon and fruit onto his plate as well. "Virgil and Patton are both good at making food- so expect good things." he says with a little smile, before putting some food onto his own plate. Remus took some food for himself as well, putting it on his plate, then passing it off to Virgil.
PATTON
Logan took a bite of the food as soon as it was on his plate, bouncing happily at the taste. "Glad you like it." Virgil said with a small laugh at Logan's reaction. Virgil took some food for himself before passing it off to Janus. Logan was pretty focused on the food for quite some time before he finally looked back up, focusing on Janus. "Roman said you're smart." Logan pointed out once he'd swallowed the food in his mouth. "Does that mean you're good at answering questions?" Logan asked before taking a bite of some of the bacon on his plate.
ROMAN
Janus looks over when Logan asks him a question, nodding. "Yeah, I would say that I'm pretty good at answering questions. It's kind of my job." he says with a little shrug, putting some of the food onto his plate, and then passing it to Patton, before taking a bite of what was on his plate. Roman hopes that Janus and Logan like this would still have as good of a relationship as they did when Logan was his normal age- and it already seemed that the two were on the right foot.
PATTON
Logan took another bite of his food, seemingly unaware of the fact that he'd been so excited about the meal that he'd gotten some jam on his face. He nodded a bit when Janus said he was good at answering questions because that was his job. Good, so Logan could ask him whatever popped into his head. "Why's water wet?" Logan asked, his head tilting slightly, Virgil snorting back a laugh before looking over at Janus as he chewed his food. He was glad he'd asked Janus and not him because he didn't know the answer to that question. Patton took a bite of his food before looking at Janus, wondering if he actually had an answer to that question.
ROMAN
Roman notices the jam first, and he takes a napkin to quickly wipe it away, giggling quietly because that was so cute oh my god- and then setting the napkin back down. Janus is a bit surprised at the question, but he thinks before he answers. "Water is wet because of the individual molecules that make it up, every molecule is different, and eater molecules are just built in a way which causes them to have a wet texture when things come in contact with it." he says, hoping he'd explained it in a way that Logan had understood.
PATTON
Logan barely noticed Roman take the napkin to his face, too impressed with the fact that Janus actually had an answer to his question to pay attention to much else. "Where does wind come from?" Logan asked without missing a beat. Janus didn't seem to have any hesitation when it came to answering his last question, so he figured he could ask another. Virgil couldn't help but be entertained by the exchanged, he'd never gotten the chance to see a Logan that didn't have all the answers yet, it was kinda nice to just sit there and watch him learn.
ROMAN
Janus just kind of smiles- it was adorable watching Logan learn. "Wind? Well air can be different temperatures, and warm air rises, and cold air sinks because of density- and during the process of the air moving up and down, that causes drafts, that we know as wind." he tells him, and yeah- Janus thought it was kind of nice to be the one with more knowledge for once. Roman sets the napkin down again, and Remus watches, amused and entertained as well.
PATTON
Logan ate more of his food as he listened to Janus answer his questions, going through the food on his plate surprisingly quickly for someone so small. "Why doesn't the sky fall down?" Logan asked, and Virgil quickly realized that either they were going to have to distract Logan with another activity or he was just going to quite literally continue to ask Janus any question that popped into his head until Janus suddenly didn't have any more answers for him. Virgil finished his food, grabbing his plate and walking over to the sink, grabbing Patton's plate as he walked by since Patton seemed to be finished eating too. Logan was taking the last few bites of his food as he waited for Janus to answer his newest question, jam on his face despite the fact that Roman had just cleaned him up.
ROMAN
Janus realizes where this is going as well, and he's happy to answer Logan's questions, but he knows soon he won't be able to anymore. "The sky doesn't fall down because there isn't a physical sky. It's just different gasses and particles that don't have physical mass, so there's nothing to fall." he says, before looking at Logan. "Want to see something cool?" he asks, hoping to successfully distract him. Roman just chuckles softly, wiping Logan's face of the jam again. Remus gets up with Virgil, taking the dishes from him. "I can do the dishes Scare Bear- you cooked, I can clean up."
PATTON
Logan listened as Janus spoke, so focused on him that he didn't even notice when Virgil took his now empty plate or when Roman cleaned his face again. "Lo, there's a box of toys and games and stuff in the living room if you wanna take a look at any point today." Virgil pointed out to him before Janus spoke. Logan nodded a bit but kept his focus on Janus for now, and when Janus asked him if he wanted to see something cool, he gave a small nod, not entirely sure what to expect. Virgil looked up when Remus offered to do the dishes, a bit relieved since he wasn't exactly sure how that was gonna go with the bandage on his hand. "Really? Thank you, love, I appreciate it." he said before kissing Remus' cheek.
ROMAN
Janus gives Logan a little smile, before standing up, offering Logan a gloved hand to take so that the two could walk into the living room, and leading him to the couch, sitting Logan down, before carefully picking up a deck of cards, flipping through it and doing some tricks with the shuffling. Then he picks up one of the cards, before doing the slight of hand where it looks like it disappeared. Logan loved it at his normal age, he wondered what he'd do at this age. Remus smiles at Virgil, going absolutely soft at the pet name, and then starting to do the dishes. He smiles at the kiss on his cheek, dropping a quick kiss to Virgil's lips.
PATTON
Logan took Janus' hand, following him to the living room, grateful for the help onto the couch before he watched Janus with the cards. He still didn't know what to expect, but when the card suddenly disappeared, his eyes went wide and he sat up on his knees grabbing Janus' hand and turning it to try to see the other side to figure out what had happened to the card. Logan liked figuring things out for himself, so he was determined to figure out how Janus had done that. When he didn't get any clues from Janus' hand he moved his focus to the deck of cards, gently grabbing them and starting to examine the cards next to try and figure out what Janus had just done. When he couldn't seem to piece it together, his brow furrowed a bit before he handed the cards back to Janus. "Again." he requested, figuring he must've missed something the first time around, determined to figure this out so he could do it himself. Virgil smiled against the quick kiss before looking back at Roman and Patton. "He's so cute!" Patton said happily.
ROMAN
Janus can't help but smile at watching Logan's reaction, and he lets Logan grab his hand and look at it, knowing that he wouldn't find anything there. He could tell that Logan was trying to figure it out, smiling bit to himself, and nodding when Logan asked that he do it again. With a flick of his wrist, the card is in his hand again, and he shifts it between his fingers for a few moments, before moving it so that it vanished again. Remus finishes up the dishes, turning off the water and the drying his hands, drying the dishes and then putting them away in the cupboards. Roman nods, smiling softly. "He'd adorable." he agrees.
PATTON
Logan watched as Janus repeated the action, his eyes going wide again when the card reappeared... only to disappear again. He tried to focus, despite his surprise, because that was how he was going to figure it out, after all, but he still couldn't figure out how Janus did it. He grabbed Janus' hand again, looking it over and lightly squeezing his hand as if he thought maybe the reason Janus wore gloves was so that he could hide the card in the glove when it disappeared, but he didn't feel anything. It just felt like a normal hand. His brow furrowed again as he tried to think before he looked up at Janus, confused and accepting that he was not going to be able to figure out himself how Janus did that like he could usually figure most things out on his own. Virgil leaned on the counter, staying close to his boyfriend. "He seems like he's having so much fun too, it's so nice to see Logan so happy." Patton said with a smile.
ROMAN
Janus just smiles- whenever children interacted with him, it was always so much fun showing them tricks like this- children always got so excited about magic, even if it was fake. "If you think this is interesting, you should see what I can do with the gloves off." he says to Logan with a little smile, bringing the card back and putting the deck of cards away. Remus wraps his arms around Virgil, leaning against him and gently nuzzling his face against Virgil's neck, relaxing against him. Roman nods. "Yeah... he's exactly like I remember him as a kid... it's nice to see him so open..." he says with a smile.
PATTON
Logan watched Janus carefully, tilting his head slightly when he stated that if he thought that was interesting (which Logan definitely did) he should see what he could do with the gloves off. "More magic?" Logan asked, since that was the only explanation he could come up with for what he'd just seen and luckily, Logan was currently at an age where he was more open to believing that more quickly, having already jumped to that conclusion just from the card trick alone. He looked at Janus another moment before taking a second to glance around the room since it did all feel completely unfamiliar to him even if Roman and Remus did explain to him that this was Virgil's house. He spotted the box of toys and games that Virgil had told him about, momentarily distracted from his current conversation with Janus as he found himself getting curious about what was inside, then getting distracted again when he noticed the stuffed owl on the couch with them, not remembering that it was actually his so deciding not to reach for it since it wasn't in the box so he wasn't sure if he could. Virgil smiled at the feeling of Remus' arms around him, smiling to himself as his boyfriend relaxed against him. "Do you think he'll remember all this when he changes back?" Patton asked curiously, wondering what everyone else's opinions on the subject were since so much of this was sort of unknown.
ROMAN
Janus nods at that, giving a little smile, noticing how quickly Logan jumped to that conclusion. "Yes, more magic. I'll show you later." he promises, before watching Logan's gaze travel around the room. He notices him look at the owl. "That's yours- you can have it if you want, Patton got it for you." he says. "If you want I can go with you to look at the toys that Virgil brought?" he offers noticing that was where Logan's attention seemed to be at the moment. Remus smiles, pressing kisses to Virgil's cheek, and then looking over to watch Logan and Janus. "Maybe? Hopefully he does, hell knows that kid needs some good childhood memories." Remus tells them all, and Roman nods along in agreement.
PATTON
Logan looked back at Janus in surprise when he pointed out that the owl was his, a gift from Patton. "Why?" he asked curiously, picking up the owl and looking him over, wondering why Patton had gotten him a gift. He examined the owl a moment before looking back up at Janus. "Does he have a name?" he asked before his attention fell back on the box, giving a small nod before (literally) climbing off the couch and going over to it, starting to dig through it to see if there was anything that caught his attention. Virgil smiled at the kiss on his cheek before nodding a bit. He also agreed, it'd be nice for Logan to look back and remember a positive experience with adults instead of just being stuck with the memories from his terrible father. "It must be so fun to get to be little again." Patton said after a moment.
ROMAN
"It was for your birthday." Janus explains, watching Logan pick up the owl, and he shakes his head. "No, he doesn't have a name yet, maybe you could give him one?" he suggests, smiling when Logan climbed off of the couch, and he followed him out and to the toy box, watching as he dug through it looking for something to do. Roman nods a bit. "Yeah, probably. I bet you were an adorable little kid." he says to Patton with a smile, laughing softly. Remus nods, smiling. "I already saw what Virgey would be like as a kid- I met his nephew, Ollie- that kid is practically a carbon copy of Virgil." he says with a little smile.
PATTON
Logan looked at the owl a moment when Janus explained that he was a birthday present and that he hadn't been named yet so Logan could pick a name for him before looking back up at Janus. "Leo." Logan said in response after barely a moment of thought before looking back at the owl again. He carefully set Leo down so he could look through the box more thoroughly, picking up a few crayons and markers that were in the box. Patton gave a shy shrug. "I wanna see you as a kid because I wanna see if I can tell you and Remus apart." Patton said with a smile. Virgil let out a small laugh at Remus' comment. "Pretty much, yeah... only difference is if you'd met me when I was little I would've been too shy to talk to you because I would've thought you were cute." Virgil pointed out with a smile.
ROMAN
Janus smiles a bit at how quickly Logan named it, nodding. "Is there a reason you named him Leo?" Janus asks, sitting down on the floor next to the box and Logan. He saw him pick up the markers and crayons, wondering if he was going to draw or write- was Logan even old enough to write and read yet? Well- knowing Logan, probably. Roman just laughs quietly, nodding. "Maybe- who knows. But I do wish the best of luck in that endeavor." he says with a smile, kissing Patton's forehead gently. Remus grins, smiling fondly at Virgil. "Yeah- I'd probably have scared away a little Virgil anyways." he says with a little shrug.
PATTON
Logan nodded at the question. "After Alan Leo, the father of modern astrology." Logan explained... because of course even at 4 years old Logan knew who that was. Logan put the crayons and markers in the pocket of his overalls, he didn't see any paper so he'd just ask Roman and Remus for some later. He then started digging through the box again, pulling out a puzzle. It was for someone around his age, but he knew he'd get through it very quickly, still... he liked puzzles so, might as well. Virgil shook his head a bit. "Let's be real, I would've wanted to be friends with you so badly and I would've been too terrified to actually go up to you and say hi... and if you had said hi to me my whole face would've been redder than a tomato." Virgil said with a small laugh. He would've been obsessed with Remus as a kid. Logan walked into the kitchen, tugging on Roman's sleeve. "Roman." he said in hopes of getting his cousins attention, holding out the puzzle box, hoping that maybe everyone would work on the puzzle with him.
ROMAN
Janus nods a bit, smiling at Logan. "That's a very interesting name- I like that a lot." he says with a smile, and watching Logan pull out the puzzle and walk across the room to Roman and Remus. Remus smiles at Virgil, giggling quietly. "I really wanna see you as a little kid now." he says with a grin. "That would just me so cute" he says brightly. Roman looks down at Logan when he tugs on his sleeve. "Yes- oh, you wanna do a puzzle?" he asks Logan, giving him a smile. "Yeah, of course! I think everyone else will be happy to help too!"
PATTON
Virgil smiled a bit at Remus' comment. "Apparently, Janus has the power to make that happen." Virgil joked. "I'd totally let Janus turn me into a little kid for a day, it'd probably be so fun." Patton said with a smile. "I mean, I was kidding... but I see where you're coming from." Virgil said with a small smile. When Logan entered the room with the puzzle, Virgil smiled a bit, watching him. He took Remus' hand and sat back down at the kitchen table, taking the puzzle box from Logan and setting it down on the table, starting to open it. As soon as he wasn't holding the box anymore Logan reached for Roman, hoping he could sit in his lap while they worked on it.
ROMAN
Janus looks at everyone. "Look- if we're seriously considering this, at the very least lets wait and see what happens to Logan, or how long this'll even last." he says, before moving to sit down at the table. Roman smiles, happily lifting Logan up into his arms, and then sitting down with Logan on his lap, starting to sort through the pieces. Remus sat next to Virgil, excited at the realistic prospect of seeing little Virgil.
PATTON
"That's fair." Virgil said with a nod to Janus. It was all fun and games to just sort of sit around and talk about how fun it would be to be a kid again, even if it was just for a day, but it wasn't wise for any of them to get too carried away with the idea when they still didn't really have any idea how long this was going to last or how long Logan would be stuck this way. Once he was seated in Roman's lap, Logan started reaching for some of the pieces, struggling to reach them all but the few he managed to grab he was already starting to piece together. Patton propped the cover of the box up so everyone could see it, making sure Logan had the best view of it so he could refer to the image whenever he needed to, though he seemed to be doing a really good job of putting some pieces together already.
ROMAN
Janus nods a little bit at that, and he watches Logan, carefully studying the child as he messed with the puzzles, and he looks for the similarities between the older Logan that he knew, and this childlike Logan- finding quite a few similar things between them. Roman passes a few pieces along to Logan, seeing as hi little arms were too short to see and reach things, and he glances at the box. Remus leans his head against Virgil's shoulder, watching everyone, and watching everyone, but especially Logan. He still can't get over how... unguarded he looks.
PATTON
Logan was grateful when Roman passed some of the pieces along to him that he was unable to reach. He ended up putting the puzzle together fairly quickly, despite the fact that this was something geared towards kids his age, it was very obvious that he wasn't challenged at all by it, and even when he was little, Logan loved a challenge. He liked being mentally stimulated. He was happy because he was with Roman and Remus and all their friends, but... mentally, when it came to having fun with the activity, he was sort of bored. He didn't want to be rude though, since Virgil had been kind enough to let him borrow all those toys, so he didn't say anything. Maybe no one would notice. Once he was finished he tilted his head up to look at Roman. "Done." he said as if Roman couldn't tell, sliding out of Roman's lap and going under the table, Patton letting out a small laugh. "Wow, Logan, you did a great job." Patton said with a smile as he looked over the puzzle. It was pretty impressive that a four year old had gotten through it so quickly, though since that four year old was Logan, he supposed it shouldn't have been surprising. Virgil looked the puzzle over a moment before moving to look under the table so he could compliment Logan directly, but before he could get a single word out, his brow furrowed in confusion. Logan wasn't under the table. "Uh... guys... where's Logan?" Virgil asked, looking around a moment. "Did anybody see where he went?" Virgil questioned... he didn't panic just yet because he had to be somewhere in the house but dang, he didn't think the little guy could move that fast.
ROMAN
When Logan said that he had finished the puzzle, Roman gives him a smile. "Good job!" he tells him, thinking that Logan was going over to Remus when he got off of his lap- but... he went under the table, and shit- where in the world was he now. Janus looks around nervously as well- Logan had disappeared? Where had he gone? "Logan?" he calls, standing up to look for the child. Remus gets up as well, still holding Virgil's hand. "Well- he has to be in the house somewhere, so we can just look for him..." he says, trying to see where Logan would have possibly run off to.
PATTON
When Logan didn't respond to Janus calling his name, Virgil looked around for another moment before looking back at Remus. "I think we should all split up and look for him." he said, giving Remus' hand a small squeeze before he let go and started looking in some of the hiding places his nieces and nephews tended to go to when they came over and played hide and seek. It's not like he lived in a mansion, if the five of them split up, they should find Logan fairly quickly, right? Patton decided to check the bathroom, but Logan wasn't in there either. He was so little, how in the world had he moved so quickly with such little legs? "Logan?" Virgil tried, looking around the living room. If he wasn't in the living room, bathroom, or kitchen, the only other places he could be were the laundry room, Virgil's room, or outside in the backyard.
ROMAN
Remus nods a bit, and he lets go of Virgil's hand after a second, leaving the kitchen to go into Virgil's room and look for Logan, pushing the door open and peeking his head inside, looking around for the little kid. "Lo? You in here?" he questions. Janus decides to go and check the laundry room, leaving and heading into the small room. "Logan? Where are you?" he calls, looking around for him. He chews his lip just a bit nervously, not liking not knowing where he was. Roman went outside, checking if Logan was in the garden, and yeah- he definitely remembered when Logan would get lost easily in the castle when he was little.
PATTON
Remus was the one to end up finding him, because Logan was in Virgil's bedroom, markers and crayons poking out of his overall pockets, some in his right hand, a dark blue marker in his left hand as he scribbled on Virgil's wall, quietly singing under his breath as he drew something that sounded like maybe the alphabet. Of course, it was Logan, so it wasn't just some random scribbles or drawings... he was fully recreating the periodic table of elements on Virgil's wall. It was a bit messy and sloppy, he was still four after all so he didn't really have the control he wanted to have to draw more neatly, but of course that's what Logan was drawing... surrounding it were some little stars and a moon, and some fairly accurate doodles of constellations, but his current focus seemed to be on the periodic table. He looked up at Remus when he heard his voice, not seeming to realize he'd just been caught doing something he wasn't suppose to be doing. He'd just been bored, and he really wanted to do something that entertained his mind. The puzzle had been too easy.
ROMAN
Remus walked over to Logan, noticing him drawing on the walls. "Lo- whatcha drawing?" he asks, moving closer. "It looks really nice- but um- maybe paper instead of the walls? I did cause my fair share of wall drawings as a kid but I'm sure that Virgil has some paper laying around for you to draw on." he tells him, carefully picking him up. "It's very good- and it looks accurate- but that's just not the best place for that. We were all worried about you- please don’t run off like that." he tells him. "I found him!" he calls out to everyone else. Janus heard Remus' voice, and he quickly walks out of the laundry room and over to Virgil's room, Roman coming inside and following as well, relived Logan had been found.
PATTON
"Periodic Table of Elements." Logan said as he looked up at Remus before looking back at his drawing. "Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen..." Logan started, struggling to pronounce some of the words correctly as he pointed before he was cut off by Remus picking him up. His brow furrowed slightly when Remus told him not to run off because they were worried about him. His dad never cared if he didn't know where in the house he was, if they weren't working on something education, he preferred if Logan was out of sight. "I'm in the house." Logan said, he hadn't gone outside, so why was everyone worried just because they didn't know what room he was in? "I'm in trouble?" Logan asked after another moment, wondering if he was in trouble for running off, though the thought of being in trouble for coloring on the walls still hadn't seemed to cross his mind. Virgil and Patton quickly hurried into the bedroom when they heard Remus call out that he'd found him, Virgil sighing when he saw the wall. "Oh geez." he mumbled before tilting his head slightly. "Is that an accurate drawing of the Periodic Table of Elements?" Virgil asked after a moment before looking at the others. Dang, even at four Logan was the smartest person in the room, wasn't he?
ROMAN
Remus nods a bit, and he smiles softly at Logan when he says the elements that are on the table. He holds Logan close to himself, stepping out into the hallway as everyone else arrived. "You're not in trouble, don't worry. Next time you want to draw, please ask for paper though." Remus tells him, and it's a bit odd, having Remus tell a child to not cause chaos. Janus looks over at the elements written on the wall, and the constellations, and he smiles, half in exasperation, half in fondness. He takes off one of his gloves, waving his hand, and the color bleeds off of the wall, and a piece of paper appears, which contains Logan's drawing, which Janus picks up and hands to the child before slipping his glove back on. "There- save the wall, and the drawing."
PATTON
Logan nodded when Remus told him that the next time he wanted to draw, he should ask for paper. When he saw his drawing magically start to disappear from the wall, he pouted slightly, he worked hard on that, but his eyes went wide when he realized the drawing didn't disappear, it was moved from the wall to paper. He took the paper from Janus, looking at it in awe of what Janus had just done. "Woah." Virgil mumbled, glad that Janus was able to save his wall without getting rid of the drawing entirely, and incredibly impressed. Logan held onto the paper, bouncing a bit in Remus' arms, shaking his hands a bit. He needed some sort of form of entertainment, to do something that would challenge his mind more than the puzzle had.
ROMAN
Roman's eyes widened a bit at watching the drawing magically get off of the wall, and onto the paper. He sees Logan act very restless, and bored and wanting to do something. Janus noticed as well, looking over at Logan. "Logan? Do you want me to make a harder puzzle? Or something else for you to do?" he asks him gently, wanting Logan to be entertained, and find him something to do. Remus looks down at him, thinking that Logan would probably like something like that.
PATTON
Logan nodded a bit when Janus offered to create a harder puzzle or something that he could do. "Play." he said softly after a moment, his hands still shaking. He just wanted to do something. That's why he'd been drawing on the wall. All that energy had to escape him somehow. Patton honestly could understand how Logan felt, he use to get the same way when he was little. There were times where he wasn't even entirely sure of what he wanted to do, he just knew he wanted to do something, and it was probably even worse for Logan because Logan was so clever his mind probably craved stimulation and to learn new things since the only time he got to spend with his dad was spent learning.
ROMAN
Janus nods a little bit, and he reaches over to take Logan from Remus, and Remus nods a bit, gently passing along Logan to Janus, who held him close and walked to the living room with him, as though scared that if he let go, Logan would run off again away from him. Janus was still a tiny bit panicked- he knew it was irrational- but after losing one sibling already, Logan had given him quite a scare. He moves to sit at the table with him again. "What do you want the picture to be of, and how many pieces?" Janus asks him. Roman takes Patton's hand, giving it a little squeeze, before walking out of Virgil's room as well. Remus scoops Virgil up into his arms, feeling a bit clingy, and since the person he had been holding had been taken, he'd gotten a new one.
PATTON
Logan looked at Janus as he took him from Remus. When they reached the couch he sat down and tilted his head at the question. "Space." he said when Janus asked what he wanted the picture to be of, giving a small shrug at the question of how many pieces. He wasn't sure how many, he just wanted a lot. Patton smiled when he felt Roman squeeze his hand, squeezing it back as he watched Logan climb off the couch, making sure to watch him carefully just incase he decided to take off again but it seemed like he was just getting the stuffed owl that he'd left by the box of toys, which made Patton smile to himself, he was glad Logan liked the owl. Virgil let out a small laugh, a bit surprised when Remus suddenly picked him up, but definitely not complaining about it.
ROMAN
Janus nods a bit, and he slips his glove off again, waving his hand, and a puzzle with 500 pieces appears. Probably a lot for a kid, but Logan could do it most likely. The picture was of the solar system, in incredible detail. Hopefully this was something that Logan would like. Roman looks down at Patton. "Do you want to watch Logan do the puzzle?" he asks him, knowing Logan would probably want to do it himself. Remus smiles, holding Virgil close, and going to carry him out of the bedroom. He keeps him in his arms, going to stand near the table, watching, impressed, as the puzzle appears.
PATTON
Logan cuddled the owl a moment before going over to where Remus and Virgil were. "Paper?" Logan asked after a moment. "Yeah, of course... Pat, can you grab him some paper out of that drawer?" Virgil asked, Patton nodding and grabbing it before giving it to Logan. "Thank you." Logan said before going back to Janus, holding the paper in one hand, the owl in the other, and markers sticking out of his pockets. Patton nodded a bit when Roman asked if he wanted to watch Logan do the puzzle, excited to see Logan doing something he enjoyed. Logan set down the paper and got started on the puzzle, putting the pieces together fairly quickly. It was a good thing that Janus had made it so many pieces or else he would've gotten through this one as quickly as he'd gotten through the last one.
ROMAN
Roman walks over with Patton as he brings the paper to Logan. He sits down at the table with Patton, carefully pulling his husband into his lap, wrapping his arms around him gently and holding onto him, resting his head on top of Patton's shoulder. He watches Logan intently, watching him. Janus watches as well, seeing Logan working through this quickly as well. He was... really impressed with Logan- with how Logan was at his own age, eh should have known that he was probably a genius as a child as well. Remus goes to sit down at the table as well, keeping Virgil in his arms, not wanting to let go of him for right now as he watched Logan do the puzzle.
PATTON
Logan got about a quarter of the way through the puzzle before he started to get seemingly antsy. It wasn't that he wasn't enjoying the activity, it was just that right now, Logan was four, and there were so many distractions around him that seemed equally as entertaining like all the people around him that he could focus on or play with, or the markers in his pocket he could draw more things with, or the appliances in the kitchen in his line of sight that he could take apart to see how they worked, or the bookshelf that had who knows what fun books that could be read to him or that he could look at the pictures of, or the box of toys Virgil had put out for him, and it was hard to focus on just one thing for that long, especially when there were so many options when it came to potential activities. He knew if his father were here, he'd demand he finish the puzzle as oppose to pausing that and coming back to it later, try to get him to learn how to schedule his time and focus on one task at a time, but he hadn't exactly succeeded in getting Logan there yet at this stage of his life since he was barely out of his toddler phase at this point and he just wasn't good at focusing just yet.
He could hyper-focus on something for hours if it really caught his interest, sure, and this puzzle was pretty cool since it was such a detailed image of space, but Logan was struggling to fight the urge to just, explore the house, or let his attention fall elsewhere. He was still working on the puzzle, though he'd slowed down... not because he was struggling intellectually to complete it but because he was too distracted to work as quickly as he had been, but he felt like he had to keep going because Janus had gone out of his way to make the puzzle for him and he didn't want to give off the wrong impression and seem like he wasn't enjoying it because he was, plus he knew if his dad were here, he'd want him to finish it, and finish it faster than he was currently going because it was more impressive to see a four year old who was smart enough to complete a 500 piece puzzle that quickly.
ROMAN
Janus, who was paying a lot of attention to Logan, even more than he usually does, so of course he noticed when Logan begins to start getting antsy, and he looks as though that he was getting bored. "Logan?" he asks gently, wondering if he wanted something else. "Do you want to do something else? We could draw, or play another game if you want- or try and find a toy from the box if you'd like?" he asks him, wanting to do something that Logan was really interested in. Roman looks over, and then he sees that Janus was right, he was definitely looking a little bit restless and fidgety. Remus recognized it as well- it was a look that he'd worn quite often as a child- so hopefully they could find something to keep Logan's interest.
PATTON
Logan had been resisting the urge to pull the markers back out of his pocket and start drawing on the paper Patton had given him, but instead he looked up at Janus when he heard his name. His brow furrowed slightly at the question, clearly surprised that an adult was telling him it was okay to move on to something else and come back to the puzzle later. It wasn't something he was use to hearing. He almost wondered if it was a trick question... if he'd get in trouble if he said yes and didn't stay focused on the puzzle he hadn't completed. That would make more sense considering how he was being raised. "I can finish it." Logan said before putting a few more puzzle pieces together, speeding up his pace again. Virgil bit down on his lip as he watched. He'd been so happy to see Logan so relaxed and comfortable with himself and his emotions he hadn't really paid attention to the ways that his father had already started effecting him. Patton looked at Logan a moment, studying him carefully. "You don't have to finish it right now if you don't want to, you can always come back to it later, there's no rush." Patton explained, wondering if maybe Logan thought if he didn't get to finish it now that he wouldn't get the chance later.
ROMAN
Janus watches as Logan starts doing the puzzle faster, frowning a little bit, and then nodding a little bit. "Okay... but you can stop at any time that you want to." Janus tells him gently, still watching him carefully. "We can do whatever you want to do." he lets him know. Remus and Roman both know what's going on here. They know what Logan's father had been trying to do, to teach him to be the "perfect" child. "Logan- your father isn't here- and we're certainly not going to stop you from changing what you want to do." Roman tells him, gently telling him, hoping that Logan would actually believe him.
PATTON
Logan still felt like the whole thing was some sort of trap. Like if he said he wanted to do something else they'd run to his dad and he'd get in trouble. When he heard Roman's voice however, he looked up from the puzzle and looked at both of his cousins, his gaze moving back and forth between the two of them. Roman and Remus always made sure Logan was actually having fun, and he just didn't see them betraying his trust and running back to his dad, he looked up to his cousins, so he trusted them. He liked the others, but he still didn't know them well enough to totally believe Janus and Patton when they said it was okay to move on to another activity. He was pretty sure he could trust them, but he figured it was always better to be safe than sorry. Hearing it from Roman however, was different. He set down the few puzzle pieces in his hands and went over to where Roman and Remus were sitting as best he could with Patton and Virgil in their laps. "Play?" he asked, not entirely sure what it was he wanted to do instead of the puzzle, but knowing that whatever it was he wanted to do, it was to do something that involved everyone else more and wasn't an activity he was doing all by himself. His gaze fixated on Remus, knowing Remus usually had some pretty fun ideas up his sleeve.
ROMAN
Janus definitely noticed that Logan felt that this was a trap- and dear god, he was definitely glad that he had decided to curse Logan's father earlier, because holy fuck, this man had really done a number on Logan psychologically, even as a young child. But he did notice that when Roman said it, Logan was more quick to believe, faster to trust, and see that he could actually do what he wanted. Roman and Remus both nod, and Remus is the first to say that thats fine. "Of course we can play!" he says with a grin, and he carefully moves Virgil off of his lap, setting his boyfriend down, and standing and picking up Logan instead. "Ooh- we could climb on the room- or we could look for bugs in the garden- or we could play Knights and Dragons, or tag, or see if we can mix things together until they explode!" he exclaims brightly.
PATTON
Logan couldn't help the smile that crossed his face when Remus said they could play and picked him up, letting out a small laugh at all his suggestions. "Okay, what we're not going to do is have a four year old child climb on the roof... or cause things to explode." Virgil said, because the combination of Logan's scientific mind and Remus' need for chaos could definitely lead to trouble. Logan wasn't all that bothered by it, he figured there was no way they were actually going to be allowed to make things explode or climb to the roof. Remus' other suggestions definitely sounded fun, though. It was hard to choose just one. Then again, Logan always had been clever. "You're the dragon." Logan said to Remus before lightly bopping him on the nose. "Tag, you're it." he said, because why choose one game when you could just combine them? Virgil let out a laugh at the sight. "What does that make us?" Virgil asked curiously, Logan took a moment to look everyone over. "Dragons." he said, pointing to Janus, Patton, and Remus. "Knights." he said as he pointed to Virgil, Roman, and himself. "Woah, he really just pitted the couples against each other, okay..." Virgil laughed. "So if we get tagged by a dragon, we're out and then the dragons win?" Virgil questioned, Logan nodding.
ROMAN
Remus looks at Virgil, pouting. "Vee! Come on- exploding things and climbing on the roof is like- the funnest thing!" he says, and then he looks at Logan with a grin, when he decides that he wanted to play the game. Remus laughs loudly when Logan boops him on the nose. "I'm the dragon?" he says, before he quickly sets Logan down. "Guess you better run!" he says with a grin. He, Logan, and Roman, used to play this game all the time when they were younger. Remus looks over at Virgil. "I'm giving you a head start because I love you." he tells him with a grin. Roman sets Patton down, and then he takes a step back, before letting him down and giving him a second to begin running. Janus looks at Logan, and he stands up, smiling. This would be fun, getting to see Logan really act like a kid.
PATTON
"Also, the most dangerous thing, so no." Virgil said, holding back a laugh at his boyfriend's adorable pout. Logan smiled up at Remus when he set him down before taking off. Virgil watched as Logan ran off, smiling to himself. He knew everyone was probably on the same page when it came to letting Logan win, or at the very least, if the dragons won letting Logan be the last Knight standing, but he was still going to use the majority of his energy to protect Logan from the dragons... he had a feeling Roman was on the same page as him with that plan. "Ooh, he made Patton a villain, there's a twist." Virgil said with a laugh. "Dragons aren't necessarily villains." Patton said with an innocent shrug. "You guys have an unfair advantage, that kid gave us zero tips on how we can slay you guys so that we have a chance at winning." Virgil pointed out before smiling at Remus when he said he was giving him a head start because he loved him. "I appreciate that, and I love you too, but I'm gonna figure out the hack in the game to slay you." Virgil said before kissing Remus on the cheek and taking off after Logan. "Lolo, I get that the dragons are it so if they tag us we're out, but how do we get the dragons out so we win?" Virgil asked as Logan hid under the kitchen table. Logan thinking a moment before pulling a purple marker out of his pocket and handing it to Virgil. "Swords." he said as Virgil took the marker. So he had to be fast enough to draw on Remus with purple marker to get him out of the game? Easy enough. "Swords, of course... silly of me to ask." Virgil said as he watched Logan hand Roman a red marker from his pocket, pulling out a blue one for himself.
ROMAN
Remus sticks his tongue out at Virgil, and he rolls his eyes fondly, watching Logan run off. Roman nods, smiling at Patton. "I'm sure that you'll be the nicest dragon alive, darling- but we still will find way how to defeat you guys." he says with a smile. Remus gives a smile at the kiss that he receives from Virgil, and then he goes over to Patton and Janus. "So what's the plan to get all of them?" he asks with a little smile. ""Because they currently have no way to harm us at all- and it seems all we need to do is capture them in some way." he says. Janus thinks. "Well- we can either go after everyone one at a time, or we can split up and each go after one of them." he says. Roman smiles a bit, taking the marker. "Thank you, oh valiant knight- I shall wield this might sword with honor!" he says brightly.
PATTON
Virgil laughed when Remus stuck his tongue out at him, sticking his tongue out right back. Patton smiled at Roman before nodding. "I understand." he said with a playful smile, not really planning on working that hard to win the game since he figured it was more important that the team Logan was on won. Patton took a moment to think about the question, tilting his head slightly. "We probably have better odds if we go after everyone one at a time... but splitting up might be more fun for Logan since there will always be someone focused on him." Patton stated. Logan let out a small giggle at Roman's words, this was why he had the most fun when Roman was on the Knight team, fiddling with his own marker. "Let's try to sneak outside while they're distracted, it'll give us a bit more time to come up with a plan and if they do spot us and follow us out there, we have more room to run around and therefore, a better chance of escaping." Virgil said as he started towards the backdoor, Logan following him as Virgil locked eyes with Patton. "Uh oh, we've been spotted, go, go, go!" Virgil said, patting Logan on the back so he'd run out the backdoor. He was glad he dressed him warmer since they were going outside.
ROMAN
Remus nods a bit. Patton was probably right. "Yep! Good idea Patton- when we find them again, we can catch them all." he says, and Janus nods as well, taking the time to take off his hat so that it wouldn't fall off if he started running. Roman nods, staying close to Logan. "And so the valiant knights must embark on a long quest to slay the fearsome dragons- arm with only their swords and their wits!" he says, creeping around, and when they were spotted by Patton, Roman scoops Logan up. "We've been caught! Run, before the dragons get us!" he says, laughing and then running outside. Remus quickly gives chase, sprinting after the three of them, and then Janus follows after as well, although he isn't as fast as Remus is.
PATTON
Virgil made sure to slide the jacket he had on Logan before they made it to the door, wanting to make sure he wasn't too cold outside since he'd noticed Logan shivering this morning. He could just pretend it was armor for the game. He watched as Roman scooped Logan up and took off once Patton spotted them, laughing to himself and following after the two, his sword, marker, at the ready. It wasn't going to be easy getting close enough to the three of them to mark them with his purple marker without them just tagging him once he was that close, but he figured that was what made Logan's game interesting. Logan laughed a bit when Roman picked him up, opening his marker when he saw Patton, Janus, and Remus chasing after them. Patton got pretty close to Roman and Logan, but Logan extended his arm, leaving a small blue mark on Patton's hand. Honestly, Patton absolutely could've tagged Logan, but it was way more fun to see the smile on Logan's face from actually 'slaying' Patton with his marker sword. "Good job, Lo!" Virgil said with a smile. Patton stumbled back a bit dramatically before playfully falling down to the ground. "Oh, you got me, I'm out." Patton said, Logan letting out another small laugh.
ROMAN
Roman carried Logan the rest of the way into the garden, grinning when the little one 'slayed' his boyfriend. "You did it Logan! The most brave and valiant of all of the knights has slayed one of the fearsome dragons- there will surely be rewards in store for your heroic efforts!" he tells him with a grin. After Patton fell down, Remus looks over at him. "We'll avenge you, don't worry!" Remus tells Patton with a grin, even though he and Janus both were going to let Logan win- but Remus still intended to get Virgil out in the game- two really competitive people in a relationship? Of course Remus was going to try and tag him! Remus saw Patton stumble out with the marker, and he tried to come up with a way to get close enough to the others without them drawing on him. Janus was trying ti think of something similar, looking for holes in their defense of Logan- he wanted Logan to get to tag him as well so that he could be proud of himself.
PATTON
Virgil knew that over all, everyone here had the same idea without even discussing it... didn't matter what happened in the game as long as Logan won. But he knew his boyfriend well enough to know that Remus was gonna make sure to get Virgil out before the game was over... which meant Virgil had to make sure to get Remus out before the game was over. He was far too competitive to accept anything less. Honestly, the best way to go about winning would probably be Logan. At the end of the day, everyone wanted to let Logan win, so if he got Logan to draw on Remus with his marker before Remus could come after Virgil, then he'd be out of the game and Virgil would definitely still be standing at the end of the game since Janus was more concerned with Logan than he was with trying to get Virgil out. Logan smiled a bit more at Roman's words, pretty proud of himself for having gotten Patton out of the game so quickly. "Look Lo, there's more dragons right there, what do you think we should do?" Virgil asked, watching as Logan's gaze fell on Janus and Remus. Logan actually looked like he was actively planning a whole strategy in his head, Virgil supposed considering who he was talking to, that shouldn't have surprised him.
ROMAN
Roman waits for Logan to come up with a plan, knowing damn well that whatever Logan is going to come up with is going to be a lot better than anything that he and Virgil would be able to come up with, no matter how much time that they would have. Roman knew that Remus would probably go for Virgil- so Roman himself most likely wasn't in any sort of danger- and he just needed to try and make Logan feel like he was having near misses with Janus and Remus. Remus looks at Virgil, and he sees him get closer to Logan, thinking that Virgil might be a little distracted, and so he decides to say 'fuck it' and just jump at his boyfriend, with no regard for whether or not he ended up actually getting marker on him, but hoping he'd make contact faster than Virgil could get out his marker. Janus watches- wondering if Remus literally jumping at his boyfriend, and he looks over at Logan and Roman- Logan still looking like he was planning.
PATTON
Logan figured if they took off and hid behind one one trees or something in the backyard, maybe they could trick the others into thinking they were all hiding in the same place, and then Virgil could pop out from somewhere else and get them from behind while they were sneaking up on Roman and Logan. But before Logan could suggest the idea, Remus suddenly went for Virgil, which threw a bit of a wrench in his plan if he successfully tagged him... he'd have to come up with a new plan. Or perhaps even if Remus got Virgil out the plan would still work if he and Roman split up and everyone just assumed that Roman was hiding with Logan and then Roman sneak attacked? When Remus suddenly jumped at him, Virgil jumped back, unfortunately not moving out the way fast enough before his boyfriend touched him, though he did manage to draw on his arm a bit.
He had a feeling that it didn't count though and that Remus was still in the game since, even though it did all happen so fast, technically Remus tagged him before he drew on Remus. Virgil just wasn't as fast right. now as he usually was because despite the fact that Janus had healed his ankle and had been successful in magically doing so, it was like Virgil couldn't actually get that through his head and he kept favoring that ankle like he expected it to still hurt if he put pressure on it, despite the fact that it didn't, and that mentality was slowing him down. "Dang it." Virgil said when he realized his boyfriend had tagged him, deciding to just say 'fuck it' himself and scribble on his boyfriend more even though he knew it wouldn't get him out of the game because honestly, why not? Letting out a small laugh as he scribbled on his boyfriend's arm. Noticing that Remus seemed distracted by Virgil, Logan reached out his arm as far as he could possibly manage, managing to draw a blue line on Remus' other arm.
ROMAN
Roman could still see the gears turning in Logan's head, and he sees that he should probably just let him think it through and not do anything to disturb the thought process. Logan was right in the thought that Remus was distracted, and he didn't notice when Logan was moving closer and closer because he was so focused on Virgil. "I gotcha out!" he says with a grin, sticking his tongue out at his boyfriend, and he starts cackling gleefully when Virgil starts scribbling on him. He lets Virgil doodle on him, genuinely surprised that Logan had got him out without him knowing. He lets out some pretty convincing death noises, groaning and thrashing about, before eventually dropping 'dead' on top of Virgil and laying still. Roman grins, and then spins Logan around, grinning brightly. "Logan you're absolutely brilliant! There's only one dragon left, my leige! We shall slay him together!" he says, looking over at Janus, keeping Logan in his arms.
PATTON
"Well... I... turned you purple." Virgil shot back, still scribbling on his boyfriend's arm. He realized Logan got Remus around the same time Remus did, laughing as he watched Remus' over dramatic death scene before feeling him, quite literally, fall on top of him, rolling his eyes. "Dork." he said with a smile before drawing on Remus' arm again. Honestly, it was surprisingly calming to draw on his boyfriend, maybe he needed to go back to doodling when he was particularly anxious, he forgot how relaxing it could be. Logan let out a small laugh when Roman spun him around before looking back over at Janus when he pointed out that there was only one dragon left. "Tree!" Logan pointed out to Roman, figuring he could use his original plan now on Janus. If Janus saw them run and hide behind the tree, and then Logan snuck off into the bushes, he could sneak up on Janus while Janus thought he was sneaking up on them.
ROMAN
Remus opens his eyes a little bit when he hears Virgil call him a dork, laughing softly. "But I'm your dork." he says with a grin, and Remus didn't care that he was drawing on his arm, and in all honesty if that helped with Virgil's anxiety, he'd let him draw on his arm all the time, no problem. He doesn't bother getting up, just laying on top of Virgil and letting him draw on him. "You should draw a mustache on top of my mustache." he says, laughing a little bit. Roman nods, grinning and then sprinting towards the tree in question, ducking behind the trunk and then setting Logan down when they got there. "What now?" he asks him. Janus follows along more slowly, inching towards the tree, giving Logan a little bit of time.
PATTON
Virgil smiled more nodding. "Definitely my dork." Virgil said happily. He laughed a bit at the suggestion, looking back up at Remus. "I don't know if it would work or show up with these like washable kid markers but that would be pretty awesome for you to have a purple mustache." Virgil said with a smile on his face. "Although, you'd probably like a green one better." he added before drawing a heart on Remus' arm. When Logan was set down, he looked up at Roman. "You hide here and I hide there but Janus will think I'm still here with you and then I can sneak up on him." Logan said, explaining his idea as best he could, he was smart, but he was still four so his vocabulary wasn't as advanced. He just hoped Roman knew what he meant. He crawled into the bush, hiding there and waiting for Janus, trying to figure out where he was going to draw on him since Janus' hands and arms were more covered than Remus and Patton's had been.
ROMAN
Remus laughs happily, laying his head on top of Virgil's chest, nodding along to what he said. "Yeah- maybe I'll let you dye my mustache green or something." he says, thinking out loud. "Yeah- that'll be pretty cool-!" he says with a smile. He watches Virgil draw a height on his arm, and he moves to press a kiss to Virgil's forehead. Roman nods at what Logan says, and he seats himself down so that he can hide and make it look like the two of them are still there. Janus approaches the bushes, and he's almost silent as he approaches it, peering around for Logan and Roman.
PATTON
Virgil laughed a bit. "If we're dyeing your mustache green then I'm gonna finally live out my dream of dyeing my hair purple." Virgil pointed out with a smile. It was something he'd wanted to do since he was a kid but he'd never had the guts to actually go through with it. He smiled a bit when he felt Remus kiss his forehead, just enjoying the little bit of time they had just the two of them before things got crazy again and they returned their focus to Logan. Logan watches Janus carefully before putting the lid back on the marker. He wanted to draw on Janus but he didn't want to get in trouble for drawing on his clothes since his arms and hands were more covered... so maybe if he just poked him with the marker instead of actually drawing on him it would still count. He was still touching him with the marker, after all. As soon as Janus got close enough, Logan poked out of the bushes, poking Janus' arm with the cover of the marker. "Got you." he said with a smile on his face.
ROMAN
Remus nods excitedly. "You should totally do it! You'll look great with the purple hair." he says with a smile, nodding. "I can help- I already bleach that one piece of my hair- how difficult can a whole head or a mustache be?" he asks with a little smile to Virgil. Janus looks into the bushes- no Logan? And when Logan pokes him with the marker, he whips around to look at him, and he laughs softly, nodding a smiling a bit. "You got me." he agrees. "Thank you for not drawing on my arm." Janus says, reaching over to gently pat Logan on the head. Roman grins, jumping out of the bushes and sweeping Logan up into his arms. "Lo! You did it! You defeated the dragons!" he says with a grin, spinning him around again.
PATTON
Virgil smiled at Remus' enthusiasm. Maybe he should try to have purple hair before the whole surprise picnic idea, especially if he ended up being bold enough to wear the outfit he and Patton talked about, it would definitely bring the whole look together. "Yeah?" he asked with a smile. It'd be kind of fun, having Remus help him make his hair purple. "Okay, cool, I'm holding you to that." he said, smiling, reaching his hand up to run through Remus' hair. Personally, he was obsessed with that little white streak in his boyfriend's hair. Logan smiled more when Janus patted him on the head. "You're welcome." he said, letting out a small laugh when Roman picked him up and spun him around again. "We win." Logan said happily, excited that they'd won the game.
ROMAN
Remus nods. "Yeah! Of course you already look amazing but like the hair would just really bring your whole vibe together." he says with a smile, nodding quickly. Remus happily leaned up and into the hand in his hair- he was also super excited- he really wanted to dye his mustache- and he thought that Virgil would look amazing with the purple hair. Roman nods. "We win!" he exclaims happily,, and he moves Logan so that the child is sitting on his shoulders. Janus smiles at Logan. "I think that you did a wonderful job, Logan. Why don't we go inside- and then you can pick out something else do do? Or food- depending on the time."
PATTON
Logan smiled when Roman put him on his shoulders, nodding a bit at what Janus said. He could probably eat lunch right about now. Patton noticed that the game seemed to be over, and he got up from his spot on the ground and hurried over to the others. Virgil seemed to notice as well. "Looks like the game is over... probably time for lunch... he's probably gonna want more Crofters but maybe I can get him to eat something else so he has more variety, especially since Patton put Crofters in his birthday cake. I should probably just make something light for lunch... what do you think I should make tonight for his birthday dinner before we have cake?" Virgil asked Remus. His favorite food at his normal age was pasta, maybe Logan would like mac and cheese? That was a pretty safe kid food... he could make that tonight, easy. He still was trying to think of light lunches he could make now though.
ROMAN
Roman nods, smiling at him softly, and starting to head towards Patton. "Logan won!" he says brightly to Patton, smiling at him and gesturing to the child on his shoulders. Janus follows along behind them, and he's really glad that today is just so... nice. It's very relaxing being able to take a day just to focus on Logan and have fun with him. Remus looks over at Virgil, nodding, but not moving to get up and off of Virgil. He doesn't stand, just wanting hugs for another minute. "Hm- more pasta? He really likes it." he tells him quietly.
PATTON
Patton smiled at Roman and Logan. "Wow, great job, Logan!" Patton said happily. Logan was very excited he'd won, and very happy to be up on Roman's shoulders, enjoying the attention, but the cold was starting to get to him. Logan always had been sensitive to the cold, though he tried not to show it, apparently even when he was as little as four years old. He shivered a bit, sort of wanting to cuddled with Roman so he wouldn't be as cold, but too shy to ask, so he just pulled the sleeves of the jacket Virgil gave him down over his hands. Virgil certainly wasn't complaining that Remus waited a few more seconds to just stay on top of him, enjoying being close to his boyfriend. "Yeah, I was thinking mac and cheese for dinner... and... what goes good with mac and cheese? Chicken nuggets? Does Logan like that? Has he ever even had them, or was his dad too evil for kid friendly foods? Maybe his birthday dinner should just be all the kid friendly foods his dad never let him try." Virgil suggested.
ROMAN
Roman felt Logan shiver, and he reaches up, picking Logan up and wrapping his arms around him and pulling him close to his chest. "Ready to go inside Lo?" he asks, before reaching out with one of his hands, and taking Patton's hand gently, holding Logan with his other arm and walking inside with the two of them. Janus followed along, walking into the house with them. Remus, nuzzled against Virgil for a second enjoying how warm he was and that he smelled good- before he quickly stands up, offering Virgil a hand to help him stand up. "Yeah- that should be good- great idea Virgil! Logan would probably like that." he says with a smile.
PATTON
Logan cuddled into Roman, feeling a bit warmer already. He gave a small nod to the question. It wasn't that much warmer in the house since Virgil couldn't afford a heater, but it wasn't as cold as it was out here, so he was definitely ready to go inside. Patton took Roman's hand, following him back into the house. Virgil smiled as Remus nuzzled against him before he stood up, taking Remus' hand so he could use his help to stand up as well. He smiled when Remus seemed to like the idea, glad he'd come up with something he thought Logan would like. Now he just had to figure out a light lunch he could make now that would keep Logan satisfied but wouldn't be so heavy that he was too full when dinner rolled around.
ROMAN
Roman smiles, letting Logan nuzzle into him. He lets him walk inside, and then he smiles, pulling Patton inside. "You two wanna sit on the couch?" he asks, and he moves to sit down, placing Logan on his lap and keeping one of his arms around Patton as he sat. Remus keeps his hand in Virgil's, squeezing it gently as they headed inside. "Do you want me to help you make lunch?" he asks his boyfriend as the two of them head inside. Janus smiles a bit, seeing Logan cuddled onto the couch, and he moves to sit on the armchair where he had slept the past few days.
PATTON
Logan sat in Roman's lap for a few minutes before getting up and going over to Virgil. "Lunchtime?" he asked, Virgil had made breakfast, so he just assumed that Virgil was going to make lunch too. Virgil was about to answer Remus when he heard Logan's voice, looking down at him and nodding. "Yeah, I'm gonna make it right now. Anything in particular you wanna eat? I'm gonna make a big dinner, so maybe something light?" Virgil asked. "Crofters." Logan said, Virgil letting out a small sigh, he really should've seen that answer coming. "Okay, I'll see what I can do, okay?" Virgil said, messing up Logan's hair a bit before going into the kitchen. Maybe he could just put out some crackers and cheese, and fruit... maybe put some Crofters on a few of the crackers for Logan... would that be enough to keep him satisfied until dinner? Realizing he never got to answer his boyfriend's question, he nodded. "Yeah, I'd really appreciate the help." he said before realizing he didn't see Logan. He hadn't gone back over to Roman and Patton, nor had he gone to Janus. "Oh geez, not again." Virgil mumbled. "Does anybody know where Logan went?"
ROMAN
Roman lets Logan crawl out of his lap and go over to Virgil, and he looks over at Patton and takes his other hand, momentarily distracted by his boyfriend and not paying attention to where Logan was at that moment. Remus stood near Virgil, laughing quietly when he heard Logan answer the question, and when Virgil noticed Logan is gone, he looks around for the child again. Janus stood up when he heard that Logan was missing, quickly standing and looking around. "Logan?" he asks a tad nervously, looking around for him.
PATTON
Patton looked around upon realizing that Logan had disappeared again. "Well, he went in your bedroom last time, maybe we should check there?" Patton suggested, getting up to start towards Virgil's room. "I guess we should split up again." Virgil said with a shrug, kissing Remus' cheek before starting to look around the kitchen. Patton checked in Virgil's bedroom, but it seemed that he hadn't chosen that room this time around. He doubted he went outside after how cold he seemed to have gotten, he must've been in the bathroom or the laundry room.
ROMAN
Remus nods a bit, and then he nods, and he gets up and then starts to look around for Logan again. He gets up, and then he moves so that he can look in the bathroom, ducking through to check if Logan is in there. "Lo?" he calls. Janus moves from the living room, and then follows into the laundry room, moving to see if Logan was in there. "Logan? Are you in here?" he calls. Roman followed after Patton as he went to check Virgil's bedroom.
PATTON
Logan was in the laundry room this time, writing out the first 20 digits of pi on the wall with his blue marker when he heard Janus enter. He looked up at the sound of his name, holding out the paper that he'd asked Virgil and Patton for earlier. "I asked for paper." he said, remembering that Remus told him that if he wanted to draw he should ask for paper... technically, he did what he was told. Virgil poked his head in the laundry room a few minutes after Janus, sighing when he saw Logan was writing on his walls again. "Kid, if you're gonna keep drawing all over my walls, at least use the purple marker, I've got a vibe going on around here." he said with a small laugh.
ROMAN
Janus looks over at Logan, and he sees what Logan was writing. Janus lets out a soft laugh when he says that he technically asked for the paper. "Yes, you did ask for paper, but we meant more... draw on the paper." he says with a little amused smile. "Come on- how about if you stop drawing on the walls, I can draw with you on the paper until it's time for lunch?" he offers, wanting to stop Logan from destroying the walls. He waves his hand again, the marker bleeding off the wall and onto the paper.
PATTON
Logan blinked when Janus explained that when Remus said to ask for paper, he meant draw on the paper instead of the walls. Technically, Remus had said that too, but he didn't realize he meant only draw on the paper. "You did not make that clear." Logan said, looking up at Janus. He hadn't realized what the adults meant. When Janus offered to draw with him until lunch was ready, he gave a small nod. Honestly, he was already sort of over the drawing, he had just been practicing pi to make sure he remembered it. He wasn't sure what he wanted to do now. Maybe work on the puzzle more? Or read a book? He wasn't that good at reading just yet, but he could sort of get through a book, especially if someone was there to help him, and Janus seemed like he was more than happy to help him. As he left the laundry room, he spotted Virgil's bookshelf, running over to it and reaching for the books, having no idea what he was reaching for but he figured there had to be some good stuff on there, right?
Too small to really reach the books properly, he failed to really grab any of them, though he did manage to knock a few off the shelf, watching as about three books hit the floor. One of which fell open as it hit the ground, Logan catching sight of the photo on the page. His eyes went a bit wide and he took off, running into the kitchen and hiding under the kitchen table, pulling his sweater over his head so that he disappeared like a turtle in his shell. Virgil looked down at the book in confusion, noticing that the one Logan managed to knock down and open was a book about the ocean and the picture was a particularly dark photo underwater. He remembered Logan saying that he didn't like the ocean, and to be honest this photo was a little unsettling even if you didn't have a problem with the ocean, it was dark and despite the various sea creatures in the photo it felt... never ending and empty and the sea creatures photographed weren't the more commonly seen ones so the photo definitely had a creepy vibe.
If Logan was already afraid of the ocean at age four, he could see why he'd be scared after seeing that picture. He quickly picked the books up and put them back on the shelf, so that when Logan came out from hiding he wouldn't see the photo again, or any other ocean photos in the book for that matter, though he could hear Logan sniffling and it made him wonder if he hadn't run to hide just because it'd scared him but because it made him cry... had his father already started to make him feel like he couldn't show emotions to the point where he'd run and hide just because he was crying at age four? There was no way to get a four year old to be as in control of their emotions as Logan at his own age seemed to be, but he already felt like it was wrong to be scared and cry to the point that he actually ran and hid from them? Damn, Virgil should've done way more than just punch the guy...
ROMAN
Janus looks at Logan, nodding a little bit. "Sorry that we didn't make it more clear." he says with a little smile to Logan, and then he watches him leave the room, still holding the paper. Janus follows after him, slowly, not coming into the room until he saw Logan surrounded by the books and then seeing him frantically scrambling back and hiding underneath the kitchen table. He quickly is filled with the instinct to help Logan, wanting to run to him but also at the same time, not wanting to scare him or anything. He moves a little bit closer to the table, slowly crouching down. "Logan?" he asks, making his voice as soft and gentle as possible. "Are you alright?" he asks, and there's no doubting the sincerity in his voice. Roman walks into the room with Patton, Remus following after, and Roman and Remus see Logan, and thy see how upset he is, and he sees so upset, so pained, and they remember even then that he would alway hide his emotions, even so young.
PATTON
"That's okay." Logan said at the apology. Logan had a tendency to take things a little too literally, so sometimes he just needed everything to spelled out for him exactly as it was meant so he didn't misunderstand what people wanted from him. Luckily, Janus and the others seemed to be much more patient and understanding of that than his father was, so he wasn't as afraid of messing up while he was here. Once Logan was under the table, Virgil noticed everyone seemed to be going to him, so he decided to focus on the food instead, not wanting to overwhelm Logan by having everyone come at him when he'd been trying to hide. Patton decided to help Virgil with lunch again, figuring if Logan was upset, but uncomfortable being upset in front of others, he'd probably be more likely to open up if it was just his cousins and Janus than if all five of them were there.
Logan had gotten better at holding in his emotions as the years went on, of course there were times where he'd just bottled up too much for too long and it came out, but more or less, he could keep it all inside. At the young age of four, however, he hadn't mastered that skill yet, he just knew it was a skill he was suppose to master (according to his dad, anyway) and so that's why he'd hidden inside his sweater. Hearing Janus' voice, he pulled his arms into the sweater as well so that he could wipe at his eyes from inside the article of clothing, cautiously poking his head out from the neck of the sweater once he'd done so, not seeming to realize that just wiping his eyes with his hands wasn't enough to hide the fact that he was crying.
ROMAN
Janus moves so that he's sitting next to Logan, in front of the child, and he looks at him with soft eyes, seeing him wipe his face. "Everything okay down there?" he asks Logan quietly, as Roman and Remus move so that they're sitting on either side of Logan, and the two of them are worried- but Remus isn't exactly the best at comforting upset children, and Janus seems to have it under control for the moment, so they both just stay quiet, sitting under the kitchen table with Logan.
PATTON
Logan looked back and forth between Janus, Remus, and Roman, shaking his head a bit at the question. He sniffled before wiping his eyes again. Virgil listened in as he and Patton worked on lunch, not sure if the others had no idea what had gotten Logan upset and were genuinely searching for an answer or if they were just trying to get Logan to feel comfortable and realize that it was okay to talk about his feelings, but he kept to himself for now, deciding to only bring up the book if it became obvious that the others had no idea and Logan wasn't getting to a place where he was ready to talk about it so that it would be easier for the others to comfort him.
ROMAN
Janus had seen the book, he had known that Logan was afraid of the ocean as well, and Remus and Roman both just knew that Logan had been scared after seeing the book, and had managed to piece together what had happened. Janus nods a little bit, reaching out to Logan with both arms. "Hugs?" he asks him, thinking that maybe that would help him feel better, if he wasn't up to talking just now.
PATTON
Logan sniffled again before nodding a bit, though he hesitated, figuring he was probably going to get in trouble for getting so worked up and emotional, but he couldn't really help himself, so he figured if he hid here under the table that he could put off getting in trouble, at least for a little bit longer. He looked at Janus a moment, wiping his eyes again and crawling over to Janus and climbing in his lap so he could hug him. He wasn't totally convinced that he wasn't going to get in trouble for getting upset, but at the same time, he really did want a hug and so maybe he could at least get that hug before he got punished. Maybe even get a hug from Roman and Remus too before he got in trouble, though he wouldn't try to push his luck.

Back of the Mind
Pairing: Sam x Reader
Summary: Sam and Reader graduate from Stanford in less than two months. All seems to be going great for the two of them. Until Y/N hears something coming from the living room whilst the two of them are home alone and together in the bedroom...
Warnings: fluff, mentions of miscarriage, briefest bit of smut, minimal angst
Words: 6,287
A/N: There is not enough words to explain how sorry I am for not posting the past month. I’m not going to use the excuse that I was disabled for the past month and a half (I’m on crutches, nothing serious!), because that should’ve given me more of an excuse to write more. But honestly, I’ve been procrastinating. I guess writer’s block is in the mix, too. But really, it was just me shying away from writing further.
Honestly though, I think it’s because this part of the year is when I lost my cousin and then my best friend’s birthday is coming up and normally I’d be planning a massive party for the shittard, but I won’t be able to do that this year or any other year. Kind of sucks but I don’t know, I just feel useless at this very moment. So, I’m sorry. There is really no real excuse for my lack of writing.
But on a good note; I’m going to start writing a book! Nothing to do with any television series or hot as fuck actors and actresses. I’ve actually decided to fulfil my dream to become an author and write a book. So, I’ll probably be posting less on here and focusing more on that. Another reason why I haven’t been posting as much as I used to. I’m so very sorry, But I promise I’ll try get what was requested posted and fulfil your needs.
Thank you for being patient with me. Also, I apologise for any grammar or punctuation mistakes. And I’m also sorry if none of this makes sense, I had written the first half of it like weeks ago and then I only just finished the second half today and it’s probably a fucking mess. But yolo.
I hope you enjoy the last part of the Back of the... Series! I’ve had people ask if they could have a spin-off to have an insight of Dean and Carmen’s little love story. Is that what people want? Because I can totally pull that off for you lovely readers.
ALSO, any Riverdale fans out there? I decided to check it out and I’m hooked. Am I the only one who ships Jughead and Betty? I SCREAMED WHEN THEY KISSED OMFG! Btw, Jughead is the loml. Does anyone else think Madalaine (Cheryl Blossom) kind of looks like Holland Roden (Lydia from Teen Wolf)?

“Where’s mummy?”
You heard the little voice ask Sam. You couldn’t help but smile and wait for his answer. You were hiding in the kitchen and standing in front of the freezer to soak in the cold air that cooled your hot skin. It was a rather hot day and the air conditioner wasn’t doing much justice. If it weren’t for the four year old boy in your living room, you’d be stark naked and laying underneath the aircon.
“She’s busying saving the world with her superhuman powers. But she’ll be here soon, okay?”
The giggle that left your mouth couldn’t be prevented. Sam had always come up with different ideas to steer the child away from being upset about the absence of his mother. You adored Sam and the way he was with children. No amount of compliments could convince him that he was brilliant with children and that he would be the best father in the world.
“I have the bestest mummy,” Jackson, the little boy, had sighed in contentment.
Closing the freezer door, you walked back out into the living room and smiled at the sight. Jackson and Sam were drawing at the coffee table and crayons had littered the floor around them, as well as countless papers with Jackson’s scribbles on them. You leaned against the doorframe and watched them fight over a blue crayon.
Sam looked up when he felt your eyes on him and a grin plastered his face immediately. He let Jackson have the blue crayon and got up before walking over to you. He bent down to peck your lips quickly before standing behind you and watching the little boy stick his tongue out and draw some more. Sam rested his head on your shoulder and wrapped his arms around you.
“He’s adorable,” he cooed into your ear, “I want one.”
Your cheeks heated at his comment as you turned your head to glance at him. He had the cutest grin adorning his perfect face and you couldn’t help but lean forward and kiss him again.
“Slow down, cowboy,” you giggled, “Let’s finish school first.”
“We graduate in less than two months,” he pointed out as he buried his face into the crook of your neck, “Might as well start trying.”
“I don’t want to look fat in my wedding dress,” you truthfully told him as you looked down at your engagement ring. There wasn’t a day that goes by where you hadn’t looked down at your hand and admired to simple ring on your finger. From the day he got down on one knee nearly a year ago, you were giddy and ready to claim his last name as your own.
But the two of you decided to take it slow and enjoy the excitement of being an engaged couple. The planning was hard work as it is and having a year to plan the wedding worked out great with the two of you and your busy schedules. That didn’t stop either of you second guessing the long wait. There had been a day when Sam wanted to put everything on a halt and get married straight away. You couldn’t blame him, there had always been days when you wanted to just take him to a church and wed him in an instance.
“You will still look absolutely beautiful to me,” Sam pecked under your ear before he reluctantly pulled away and walked back over to Jackson who had ran out of paper to draw on.
Your gaze followed his tall figure as he plonked down beside the blonde boy and helped him pack up the crayons. Little whines came from Jackson, saying he wanted to draw some more, but Sam had told him that we were going to order some pizza for dinner and watch a movie of his choice. That caught Jackson’s attention and he moved in lightning speed to clean up the mess he and Sam had made.
“Stop being so cheesy,” you complained in which made him turn to look at you, but secretly you loved it way too much. Although, he didn’t need to know that his words corrupted a zoo inside of your belly, “You know I’m lactose intolerant.”
“You’re not the only one” he said, referring to himself, with a grin plastered on his gorgeous face, “Maybe that’s why we’re so perfect together.”
“Because needing to use the bathroom at the same time after eating diary makes us perfect together,” you cocked your eyebrow as a chuckle emitted from his mouth with a mumbled “You know what I mean.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at him before turning away and walking back into the kitchen to order the three of you dinner. It hadn’t taken long to call up and order the pizzas and it hadn’t taken long for the pizza to be delivered either. The three of you sat in the living room with a box of pizza on your laps – well, Jackson had a plate with two slices of your pizza – whilst you watched Snow White on the small screen.
Sam thought your attention was on the princess on the screen but it was very much caught by him. He was watching Jackson smile at the screen as he sat on the edge of the couch and pointed at the TV whenever something funny had happened. At one point, Jackson had said that he wished animals liked him enough to clean his bedroom. You giggled at the little boy before turning your attention back to the movie rather than your fiancé who was grinning at the small child.
Watching him interact with Jackson made you upset as you thought back to night you were both reunited. The scare was enough to keep you both wide awake all night as you panicked at the thought of being pregnant during your first year of college. You’d taken the morning after pill and felt relieved knowing there was no chance you’d be pregnant now.
Fate likes playing tricks, though. Four weeks had passed and you were with Carmen when you puked up the meal you had. Obviously, you shrugged it off and thought it was probably food poisoning. But the sickness continued for a week and it hadn’t passed. Carmen had eventually forced you to go to the doctors and that’s when fate decided to mess with your life.
“We found the cause to your constant vomiting,” the doctor had told you, “Congratulations, you’re pregnant, Miss Y/L/N.”
When you had told Sam the news, he was a mix of happy and distraught. Neither of you were ready to raise a child, though that was completely understandable. You were both young and clueless but nonetheless, you both decided to deal with the consequence of not wearing a condom and agreed to keep the growing infant inside of you.
You had just reached sixteen weeks and you had a small bump adorning your stomach. Sam found it was the most beautiful thing he had ever witnessed. He couldn’t take his eyes off your stomach as he watched the bump grow bigger with each passing week. You were never sure about your decision on keeping the baby, but after your first ultrasound, you couldn’t help but already feel attached. You had two beating hearts in you and the idea of being a mother had warmed your heart.
When the doctor told you that you were expecting a baby girl, neither of you could hold back the proud cries as you grinned at one another before looking back at the screen that showed your princess. You were having a baby girl and the first thought that had popped into your head was; “I hope she ends up with Sam’s hair.” The giggle that left your mouth caused confusion to embed in Sam’s features as he glanced over at you.
Isn’t it strange? That a thump, a sound, in regular motion within the confines of your body would bring such happiness to your everyday life? Does it not give you a smile? Every experience is shared, all feelings connected, the warmth of a newborn, like the glow of sunlight: precious. But in due time, the sudden loss of the second beating heart, before your princess starts her dance, her first step, the smallest but greatest, would have faded into oblivion. You had drowned in despair at the loss of your loved one. A half-hearted living being, empty at the core. All purposes lost to the wound on your soul as time passes by you. At eighteen weeks, you were carrying a dead infant. Carmen had been there to constantly remind you not to worry, always telling you that your little one will enter the gates amongst a grand parade. The heavens will watch her dance. A standing ovation awaits and she would merrily dance again. Sam would say that God had missed his Angel too much that he wanted her back home. You appreciated their comforting words but it hadn’t made you feel better, you doubt anything would have. Your loss was Heaven's gain and you couldn’t help but feel that God was too greedy, wanting all of the precious souls that walked among this Earth. In your case, the precious soul inside you hadn’t gotten a chance to walk this Earth, and for that, he was greedy.
“Baby,” Sam’s voice snapped you out of your train of thoughts and it was only then you realized that the movie had finished. You furrowed your brows at the credits and wondered how you managed to zone out for the rest of the movie. Feeling Sam squeeze your hand gently, you turned to look at him and gaze into his concern eyes.
You were about to open your mouth to tell him that you were okay, truly, when a knock sounded on the front door. It was then that you noticed the now sleeping boy on Sam’s chest with his thumb in his mouth. A small smile made its way onto your face as you admired the scene in front of you. But another knock sounded on the door and reminded you that it was Jackson’s mother ready to pick her son up.
You stood and pried the sleeping boy from Sam’s arms gently before slowly walking over to the front door and unlocking it. Once you opened the door, you were greeted with a blonde haired woman with strikingly beautiful grey eyes. She quietly cooed at the sight of her child sleeping soundlessly in your arms before stepping forward and taking Jackson into her arms.
“Was he good? I’m sorry if he made a mess,” Emeli whispered as she rubbed Jackson’s back when he begun to stir in his sleep.
“No honey, he was great. Sam and he drew and then we ate some pizza whilst watching a Disney movie, so everything was good!” You assured her as you leaned against the doorframe and folded your arms across your chest.
“Oh, thank the Lord. I’ll transfer the money over to your bank once I get home, okay?” She smiled at you as she waited for your protest.
Emeli was always so persistent that she owed you money for babysitting her child. You had known her since you first started your job at the popular restaurant in town. Even before becoming pregnant, she was persistent with handing you money for simple things like helping her choose an outfit for her date or doing her makeup. But to you, looking after Jackson wasn’t a job so you saw no need for her to pay you. You enjoyed looking after the gracious four years old that you had adored so much. Plus, seeing Sam play with him warmed your heart.
“Keep your money; we don’t need it, sweet pea.” You reminded her, smirking a little when you noticed her stomp her foot lightly. She was such a child for a twenty-four year old and you loved it.
“It’s the least I can do for looking after the devil’s spawn,” Emeli raised an eyebrow as you chuckled at her comment. You shook your head and pleaded that she’d stop calling him the devil’s spawn when in actual fact; her son was a blessing from the greedy man up above.
“He’s God’s Angel, Sam and I adore him. Instead of money, though, you could say yes to coming to my bridal shower,” you wiggled your eyebrows at her and hoped it’d convince her to say yes this time.
No amount of convincing could change Emeli’s mind about coming to your bridal shower. She had been worried about leaving Jackson with somebody else considering she had always come to you when she needed babysitting. You had told her countless times that she could bring him along and let him enjoy the attention of the countless women that were going. But she’d always glare at you and say “I’m not allowing my son to be around drunken women.”
“Fine! It’s a deal, babe. I’ll catch you around!” She gave in and let out an exaggerated sigh before she leant forward and hugged you softly. She turned around and walked across the road to her house. You watched to make sure she made it safely before closing the door and locking it behind you. You didn’t get the chance to turn around before you felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist and pull you flush against his torso. You let out a squeal of surprise as he lifted you off the ground and spun you around.
“We’re alone, at last!” Sam shouted before he placed you back on your feet again. Your hands gripped his arms as you turned your head to the side to look up at the handsome man you were lucky to call your fiancé.
“Selfish bugger,” you giggled as started to pull him towards the bedroom.
His arms tightened around your waist as he tried to pull even closer to his body before leaning down and kissing your lips gently. You brought a hand up to cup the back of his head as you kissed him back. A satisfied hum left his lips as your fingers tugged softly at his chestnut locks.
“I’m sorry, but I just really love you,” he murmured against your mouth and you felt him smile before pecking your lips again.
“It’s okay, I happen to really love you, too,” you spoke between kisses before he pulled away with a large grin on his face. It almost made you question his antics, but you knew better. He was in a playful mood and that usually meant he was going to attempt to outlast his stamina.
“You better,” he teased before tucking face into the crook of your neck and biting down softly on the skin as he hands begun to roam your sides. You wanted to move out of reach from his hands knowing that he was about to tickle you but you wanted to remain in his arms with his lips on your neck. Life was just so complicated when you were engaged to the younger Winchester.
“Sam!” You yelped as his fingers dug into your sides, making you squirm but his grip held you tight against him. His warm breath brushed against your neck as he chuckled, absentmindedly leading you towards the bedroom. Your laugh filled the silent house as he continued to tickle your sides before he managed to press you up against the back of the bedroom door.
And soon enough, your laughs were morphed into moans as he ravished you for hours. This time, you hadn’t needed to worry about wearing a condom as you were now on the pill. In the back of the mind, you knew that the pill wasn’t a hundred percent trustworthy, but you wanted the pill to fail you both so you could begin to make a family with the man on top of you.
His kind words reminded you that you’d look beautiful no matter what. He assured you constantly that he wouldn’t mind having you walk down the aisle with a massive belly only to meet him at the end. He told you that it’d be like vowing to the both of you that he’ll love you for the rest of his life and that he’ll never leave you. Of course, his theory would always rethink your decisions about pushing the family making further away. It didn’t sound so bad, after all.
So, here the two of you were, making love between the sheets with mouth-made marks and scratches from sharp fingernails. You could feel him fill every inch of you, making your walls clasp tightly around his long, thick shaft. It hadn’t matter what position you’d been in or the limited time you had or even the countless orgasms you already had, he had always managed to bring you to your climax within a record time. The words he spoke were enough to have you screaming his name at the top of your lungs and cling tightly to him as your body trembled with pleasure. Multiple rounds later and stolen breathless kisses, you’d both laid in bed bare for the world to see. Your chests were rising unevenly from your ragged breaths and your hearts were beating far too fast.
Neither of you seemed to care as you basked in the other’s satisfaction. You were lazily wrapped around Sam’s sweaty body as his hand absentmindedly drew patterns into your bare back. You felt far too weak to move and were glad that it was nightfall so there’d be no interruptions as you close your eyes and wait for slumber to reel you in.
But there had been an interruption that caused you to snap your eyes open and jolt your body up. Something had been knocked over in living room and you knew Sam had heard it too as he slowly sat up and peered over at you. Fear was written in his features as he listened to the intruder walk around the house.
“I think we’re being robbed,” you whispered to him, although something in the back of your mind kept telling you that it wasn’t someone robbing us, but much rather a something trying to get revenge.
“Yeah,” he frowned, “Stay here. I’ll go check it out.”
You wanted to protest and tell him to get back into bed. Whether it was because you didn’t want him to get harmed or you hadn’t wanted to be left alone in the bedroom for an unarticulated reason. You wanted to scream out to him when he opened the door and walked out unarmed. You wanted to run out and save him from any possible danger out there.
Sitting on the bed quietly, you listen for anything to give away the trouble that Sam was walking into. But you were greeted with silence and even after minutes had passed, there was nothing to assured you Sam was okay. Quickly, you got up and threw on a shirt and your underwear before you silently walked out of the room and kept your back pressed against the wall.
It was only when you got closer to the living room did you hear hushed voices talking to each other. You knew one of them belonged to your fiancé but the other remained a mystery. They didn’t seem to be arguing but it wasn’t a polite conversation either. You had heard Sam interrogating the mystery man, asking what he was doing in his house. The man only replied that he needed to see Sam, that it was an emergency.
“Sam?” It was then that you chose to call out your lover’s name and step out from the dark. Sam looked over the man’s shoulder and over to you with a soft smile on his face at the sight of you. The mystery man turned around, making you narrow your eyes at him, trying to find recognition in the familiar figure. And then it hit you.
“Dean!”
A smile warped your face as you ran over and pulled him into a tight embrace. You hadn’t seen him since you were sixteen and it saddened you that Sam hadn’t spoken of him since the two of you had gotten together. He seemed hesitant at first before wrapping his arms around your waist and placing a gentle kiss to the crown of your head.
“I can’t believe it’s you, Y/N,” Dean muttered as he pulled back and glanced over your body, clearly noting that you were only wearing Sam’s shirt and smirked at the thought of his brother getting some action.
“Yeah, I found her,” Sam mumbled more to himself than to his brother. But Dean had heard him as he pulled back and turned to look at his younger brother again with a frown imprinted in his facial features.
“How come you never told me?”
“We barely spoke and I didn’t want to distract you from work,” Sam muttered and you were about to question him but a pounding on the front door distracted you from doing so. Dean stood silent as he watched the door; Sam was peeping through the living room window and noticed the same car that gets parked there basically every day. He begun to converse with Dean again, already knowing who was pounding at the door.
“Y/N! Open this fucking door!” You heard from behind the door and it made you want to whine at everyone for interrupting your alone time with your fiancé. Maybe you could ignore her and pretend you weren’t here and then maybe she’d storm away, but that idea ceased to exist when she yelled again, “I can hear Sam talking to you and the lights are on!”
“What is this? A reunion party?” You muttered to yourself as you trudged over to the entrance and opened the door for your annoying best friend. The brunette woman pushed right past you with her hand in her hair and a frantic look on her face. Immediately, you knew something was wrong if she was stressing out easily. Normally, she was chilled back and relaxed.
She paced back and forth, her fingers clasping her dark brown locks as she tugged at them frustratingly. She was stammering and it was obvious that she hadn’t known where to begin. Her face paled and she stood still as she must’ve just thought of the worst outcome of what was troubling her.
“Carmen, what’s wrong?” You closed the door again and walked over to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. She tensed under your touch before relaxing. But then she remembered why she was here and her body tensed up again.
“There’s an emergency,” she puffed out as her hands fell to her sides after I pried them away from tugging her own hair further more. My brows furrowed as I took in her statement and she was about to open her mouth before she got interrupted–
“Carmen?”
Carmen’s head turned in the direction from where the voice came from and almost instantly her body relaxed again. She let out breath, one that she seemed to have been holding in, before she walked over to the man wearing the same worn out jacket he wore when she first met him.
“No fucking way,” she said, “Dean?”
Her hands reached out to touch his face as if she hadn’t believed that he was actually in front of her in that current moment. Dean’s head slightly leaned into her touch and it hadn’t gone unnoticed by either you or Sam. The two of you remained silent as watch the scene unfold in front of you. By then, you had absentmindedly walked over to stand beside your fiancé as you watched your best friend’s eyes well with tears.
“Fuck me,” Dean whispered and coughed to cover the crack in his tone, “You haven’t changed a single bit.”
“You’re still a hot mess,” her hand fell to her side as she smirked up at him and stood up straighter.
The pain that ghosted behind her eyes was immediately replaced with joy. You had known how sad she had become since she found out that you came across Sam. Carmen had admitted that she had envied you but told you that she was glad that you were happy. Right now, she was standing right in front of her happiness and you couldn’t have been any gladder with her choice of timing.
“Ehem,” Sam coughed, “Why are you two here?”
You elbowed his side and narrowed your eyes in his direction, silently cursing him for destroying their bittersweet reunion. He winced and rubbed his side as he glared at you, his eyes telling you that he wanted them gone. You begged with pleading eyes to keep watching them rekindle their love, but he simply shook his head before turning back to the two in front of us. With a huff of annoyance, you turned your gaze back to Carmen and Dean and noticed that they had witnessed the two of you telepathically yelling at each other.
“Well I’m here to tell Y/N important news,” Carmen finally spoke up after an awkward minute of silence passed you all by.
“And I’m here to tell you important news,” Dean told Sam, gaining a questioning glance from his long lost love beside him.
“Okay, so tell us,” Sam prodded, only receiving an eye roll from you at his impatience.
Carmen’s eyes flickered from Sam to Dean before landing on you. Dean’s gaze happened to flicker from you to Carmen before landing on his younger brother and it was obvious that what the two of them didn’t want to share what they wanted to say openly. Panic lit up behind Carmen’s eyes as she stared at you. Sam’s foot irritatingly tapped on the floor and you knew it was a sign of annoyance.
“Dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days,” Carmen and Dean spoke once they noticed Sam’s impatient glare. All four pair of eyes widened in that moment.
“You guys are hunters?” Dean choked out as he stared at the two of you ladies in disbelief.
Sam remained silent and watched the commotion. You couldn’t meet his gaze because you knew that behind those hazel would lay multiple emotions; betrayal, disbelief and hurt. You hadn’t shared with him a large amount of your life but neither had he. You knew why he hadn’t told you, they were the same reasons as your own. You didn’t want to drag him into a dangerous life. But now you know; he was always in the same dangerous life you were in.
“This explains what he meant,” you mumbled to yourself as you begun to distant yourself from your fiancé. You balled your fists tightly as the thought of their father harming your own flooded your mind. You remembered your father talking about another hunter who left him to nearly die on a hunt but Belle, Carmen’s mother, had came across him just in time.
“What who meant?” Dean spoke up as he studied your actions.
“Your fucking dad,” you wanted it to come out as a growl, but it came out as a mere whimper. You couldn’t bear the thought of losing your father, too. If that son of a bitch got a hold of your father, you’d make his death a slow and painful one. Even if that meant losing the two brothers in the process.
“Excuse me?” Dean growled and stepped forward but Carmen grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
“That night when you first took me to Bobby’s,” you turned to Sam who had remained silent the entire time, “When your dad took me outside to talk. He mentioned that he knew my father and that if I didn’t stay away from you then there would be consequences. I didn’t think much of it.”
“He said that to you and you never told me this?” Sam frowned and stepped closer to you. You didn’t bother moving away from him, you wanted him to hold you. After all, you weren’t mad him, but much rather his father.
“First of all, how was I meant to tell you without you questioning why he said that? Secondly, I didn’t want you worrying. I simply just wanted to be with you and live a normal life,” you whispered to him as he pulled you against him, wrapping his arms tightly around you.
And it was sincere – all that you said. There had not been a day that had gone by without you questioning if you should tell your teenaged lover the truth about your life. Though, the guilt that you felt when he left without knowing your true identity soon subsided and you believed that leaving him in the dark was for the best. Having someone know about a huntress’s lifestyle was perilous. Being exposed in this lifestyle made you a target – it made everyone you knew a weakness to your system, it made them a target.
From the moment Sam walked into your life, you knew from that moment that you were going to shelter him from your dark storyline. You weren’t going to expose him to the monsters that lurked beyond the shadows. You weren’t going to risk losing him to a creature that was better off dead. So, you kept it hidden. You vowed you’d never tell him the truth.
But here you were now with the truth spilled on the floor in an impure mess of disbelief, hurt and tragedy. Everything that you kept locked away for many years was leaking out of your pores and there was no point in closing them back in. The love of your life had just revealed that he lived in the same lifestyle and you were going to be honest with him one hundred percent from now on.
“What about you Carmen?” Dean asked, breaking you from your train of thought.
“My mother hunted alongside her father and we met when my mother dropped me off at her place,” the brunette woman answered the emerald eyed man with a stern voice and straightened her posture; the action warning you that she was trying to close up the hurt she felt.
“You told me you met her through tutoring her,” Dean frowned at the thought of the woman he loved lying to him.
But you knew from the look on his face that he couldn’t blame her for doing so; he, too, lied to the love of his life. That seemed to be the main problem in the hunting life; heck, in your opinion, the biggest problem you’ll come across is unfolding the untold truths from those involved in your life. Hopefully though, from now on, neither of you will see the need to lie to the other. It’d make life simpler.
“That wasn’t technically a lie,” she replied with pursed lips, “That same night she was studying and she was struggling in a subject and so I helped her.”
“Hold up, why did you say dad? You two aren’t sisters?” Sam pulled back, but still left one arm wrapped around you as he held you to his side. You looked up at him and took him his puzzled gaze, you couldn’t help but giggle. He looked adorable when he was confused.
“No, but her father acted like more of a father than my biological father ever did,” Carmen answered him, making you look over at her and smile softly. Her body was still rigid and you knew her too well to know that she was about to shut down if we kept talking about things that made her feel like breaking down.
You noticed Dean looking at her with pain written in his features and you wanted nothing more than to scream at him to pull her into his embrace. But he remained glued to his place, being sure to keep a safe distance between the two of them. His gaze met yours for a second and you silently screamed for him to change the topic before the inevitable break down that your best friend will have.
“Wait, so why did you live with your grandparents?” He asked, diverting the conversation away from Carmen, not before glancing in her direction again.
“Because my father was always away hunting,” you answered him and leaned into Sam’s side. His hand tightened on your hip and you were grateful for the action, for you knew what direction this conversation was about to head in.
“What about your mother? Didn’t you live with her?”
The question was a simple one but the answer was most difficult to reply with. You could lie like you did with many others and say that your mother left you when you were younger and spare yourself the heartache. But all the truths you had kept bottled up for your whole life had already piled up on the floor beneath you; there wasn’t any point in lying anymore.
“She died when I was five months old,” you choked out, your sight becoming blurred from the unshed tears in your eyes, “Carmen’s mother died the same way a year after you two left.”
“How did they die, if you don’t mind me asking?” Dean asked you both and you looked over to Carmen to see that she was already looking at you. She raised her eyebrow to ask for permission to give out the truth behind our mother’s absent presence.
“Burned on the ceiling,” Carmen seethed, “By that stupid fucking Azazel prick.”
Sam’s arm loosened around you as he stood up straighter and looked over at Dean. The two had locked gazes and it hadn’t gone unnoticed by either you or Carmen. She eyed them curiously as you looked up at your fiancé. His gaze dropped from his older brother’s to yours and you knew that whatever the two were telepathically conversing about was indeed about the yellow eyed demon.
“This guy didn’t happen to have yellow eyes, did he?” Sam asked the two of you ladies, but his eyes remained on your face. In any other situation, your cheeks would’ve heated up by now due to the intense look on his face. But instead, you frowned and studied his features to try figure out how he had known that.
“How did you know?” Carmen asked the question you were thinking of.
God bless her for being so nosy, you thought.
“He killed our mother when Sammy was six months old.”
The silence that remained after Dean’s statement was suffocating. Carmen had sucked in a breath at her train of thought and was staring at the emerald eyed man with questioning eyes. He noticed this and clearly understood her silent query as he nodded softly in her direction. Within a second, she wrapped her arms around him tightly as she whispered incoherent things into his ear. You
You looked away from them and up at your fiancé again who was studying the scene in front of him. He must’ve felt you staring at him as he turned to look at you. You, too, had wrapped your arms around the love of your life and squeeze every ounce of love you could give into the embrace. His pressed a kiss to your forehead and mumbled that he was sorry about your mother just as you did the same.
Neither of you needed to apologize, though. What was there to apologize for? Things happen for a reason and you’d never question Fate’s choices, but the reason behind your mother’s death would always remain a mystery. You’d just hope you won’t die trying to figure it out.
“So, dad’s missing,” Carmen interjected after a couple of minute’s silence. She wiped her cheeks and pulled away from Dean who gave her a weak smile. Though, you hadn’t pulled away from Sam’s embrace, you decided to stay in the warmth of his arms.
“So is our father,” Sam rested his head on top of your own as he relaxed under your fingertips drawing patterns on his back. Your ear was pressed to his chest and you could hear the beat of his heart fasten. You couldn’t suppress the giggle that left your mouth, which in return gained a confused glance from Dean and an eyebrow waggle from Carmen. Sam’s chest vibrated from the soft chuckle that emitted from his mouth, knowing why you were giggling.
“So, what do we do?” You coughed to ease the awkwardness.
You wanted nothing more than to pull away from Sam and punch Dean in the arm when you caught him rolling his eyes at you. Well, in your defense, there are many other options to choose from in this situation so the question was well needed. But Dean had clearly thought that you must’ve been stupid from the lame question you had asked.
“We go look for them both and haul their asses out of the crap they’re in.”
The moment Dean opened his mouth; you knew immediately what he was going to say. If it weren’t for the fact that your father was missing, you would’ve declined and stay behind to finish school. But this wasn’t just your father missing; it was also your fiancé’s father who had dropped off the face of the earth. You weren’t just going to sit back and let them do the work, you were going to drop the opportunity to live a normal life and go and find your father.  Plus, it’s a bonus that you were going to be crisscrossing the country with three of your favourite people.
Looks like we’re going on a road trip, you inwardly yelled in glee.
