I've had it in my head for awhile (like that I want to do some sort of fan comic (like, multi chapter/'book', done over several years sorta comic) for W101.
I have various Idea's that i'd like to do (like it would rock to maybe do a comic interpretation of the game itself), but if I were to hunker down and really do at least one of them, it'd be about Morganthe's life/story of course. It's just the one I'm most passionate about, the one I think would make me most satisfied if it was the only comic I ever did since it would be a pretty big undertaking and likely done in my free time, which is often limited lol.
Also, it goes without saying that i'm uhhhhh a bit of a perfectionist (me, an artist? a perfectionist? what a surprise!) so the idea of my art not being up to par with my expectations is also off putting- and I KNOW... i know.... i know that regardless of what art I'm able to produce, It shouldn't matter really. Who cares if my anatomy is janky or the perspective off- as long as the story is impactful and something I like (as of course even just a handful of others enjoy), that's what bottom line i think matters to me most.
All this to say that... I have entertained the idea of /writing/ some of this stuff. I thought maybe scripts would be nice, because... the issue tho is that I get caught up in the details, which would serve well for like, fanfic writing. But again, I'm also SO image based that I fear my words alone will not be enough- at least, enough to satisfy my own creative desire. Though writing does feel more approachable- like a good starting place.
*kicks rocks* anyway, i just got the thinking cause... well as of late my desire to engage in art/creating something has felt very... not there at all. It could be partly that I have an Art Job, but, as much as I do love my job... I think the reality is that I miss being able to create entirely for me. I think that's what I really liked about Wizard- the world & characters inspired me to think creatively in a boundless way.
And again, LOVE my job, and I have been given opportunity to express many ideas, and some of which have come to be, but I think I've also come to realize that... idk, I don't think I like the uphill battle of putting my all into something I don't even know is going to be greenlit/accepted/etc (this is nothing to do with KI specifically, more so how draining it feels to me personally to pitch certain things im /very/ passionate about, and trying to be realistic about how much of my time effort and energy i feel is worth to do that).
Anywho. Lots of random thoughts, no real conclusion, just had it on my mind. But overall it's been difficult for me to feel the Magic that wiz usually proves me, creatively speaking. Honestly even thinking about playing the game makes my head hurt, which also saddens me a good bit. I'm still in Novus lol.
Not to say I don't feel excited or that "magic" feeling at all, far from it. It's just. Further and fewer between at times.

I would love to hear your rambles about Ur fics if u want, it doesn't have to be spoilers or anything, just like, your line of thought, why your gave each character those characteristics and stuff (feral wild my beloved 🩷🩷🩷)
Tumblr media
Uh YES talking about the boys is my favorite thing 🥰🥰
I knew when I started writing Linked Moments I wanted it adjacent to Linked Universe, but not in the same timeline. I like the characters, their designs, some of their personality traits, but I want to do something unique!
The first few stories are always rougher as I find a handle on their personalities and how I want them to interact. Wild’s easiest because a) favorite, b) I read a lot of fics with him and c) I started replaying botw in preparation for TotK.
There’s some active decision on personality, but I really enjoy “discovering” each character as I write. Four, for example, fights every step of the way and just doesn’t flow well. I’m still trying to find a vibe off him and how he fits into the group.
Wild, Twi, Ledge, and Hyrule are definite favorites so we get a lot more of them. Wolfie is Wild’s safe person and I adore their interactions. I wanted him to be someone Wild could relax with when he’s still learning to trust everyone else. Also, someone who would connect to his more feral behavior.
I like to think that Wild was pretty darn wild when he first woke up. Obviously some basics remain, but you can’t convince me that boy didn’t put everything in his mouth to see if he could eat it 🤣
With Yiga disguised on the road he tended to stick to the outskirts unless he came in to a stable. He spent a lot of time with the dogs there, as well as observing wolves in the wild. He really likes wolves, despite an…incident we’ll explore later 👀
Hyrule is my cinnamon roll and he can totally kick your butt while smiling sweetly. I like his dynamic with Legend, so I try to keep that, but I also like having him buddied up with Wild.
I usually pick one or two relationships for each oneshot to focus on because otherwise it’s a lot to balance. Also, I want to show the different moments of growth between the pairs.
Thinks like Fae Touched, Wing Bois, and other oneshots are opportunities for me to explore different dynamics or back histories. Wild and Wolfie/Twilight is more of a precedence in Linked Moments.
Legend is our grouchy boy, but he understands trauma responses a little too well. He periodically recognizes what’s going on with Wild and really steps up into a calm role to help. He tries to provide what he needed but didn’t have 😭 It’s those moments that he’s very similar to Hyrule.
Warriors uhhhhh had ended up with some personal influences, woops. My writing has always been fairly personal in some way; either the genre, themes, or feelings. Lots of family fluff (especially in Encanto, which I wrote for before this). Writing is usually more grounded if it’s based on personal experience, so it’s a mix of that or straight up research. Usually if I’m worried about reception I post it under an alt account.
Time is a struggle for me although I know many readers liked his chapter with the Champion. He and Wild don’t operate the same and it puts a bit of a wedge on their interactions.
Wind is a loose cannon careening through the background and bodily throwing himself at people. He’s a tactile kid (even if he is a teen). I like seeing him have some depth, he’s a capable hero on his own.
Sky is a lot more of a gremlin at heart than I thought when I started writing. We haven’t seen much of him yet and he likes to cover up the chaos love with his “chosen hero” vibes.
I think I covered everyone and I’ve uh….been rambling a while lol 😅 Thank you for the ask! I’ve missed writing on vacation :( please feel free to drop further questions or I’ll tag you if I think of something!

fic writer review!
thank you for tagging me @hrwinter !
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
twelve which really doesn’t feel like enough because i have at least twice that many in progress in my google docs woops
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
65,278 hahahaha
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
mmmm i think two ... point five. ish. there were some rough attempts when i was quite young but i didn’t get anything readable up until one or two for orphan black-- all of my actual work that i’m proud of is here in supergirl.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
a six-day exercise in denial
lip drawn constellations and pen marked kisses
accidental kisses and ill-timed visits from the deo
kryptonian tradition, or something like it
musings from 504
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
very very rarely, and mostly that’s just because i never really know a way to provide a meaningful response that doesn't just boil down to “thank you!!!”
and tbh i feel weird about this all the time because receiving comments makes me smile like an idiot at my phone and i go all squiggly and happy and excited so i probably really should be answering them but i just . i never know what to say that doesn’t look very impersonal!
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending
in which a half-confession breaks them both by a mile
7. Do you write crossovers?
nope
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
nope!
9. Do you write smut?
god yeah but a lot of it never makes it to the publish stage and i should really change that because sex is what gets all the hits lads
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not an entire fic, no, but i’ve had some scenes and paragraphs taken and hidden behind very thinly veiled reworks
11. Ever had a fic translated?
yes! a lovely person called R_H_Felidae_Athena actually translated a bunch of my little minifics into Mandarin which i think is the loveliest thing in the world
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
i haven’t! i’m not sure i’d be any good at it because i’m shit at deadlines and i also have very very little structure to my writing process and it’s a lot of “idk it just feels this way in my head” lmao
13. All time fav ship?
every ship feels like your all time fav ship when you’re in it doesn’t it? so right now absolutely supercorp-- i’ll admit i’ve put more time and work into this ship than others but i’ve had some that really really touched me and that i’ve put a lot of my heart into in the past
14. WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
ah jesus i have so many. almost two years ago i started writing an au (based on one throwaway line in s5) where kara and lena meet because lena’s running through national city and has a security team following her at a distance and kara thinks she sees a woman being followed followed and steps in and beats the hell out of the security team and lena can’t stop laughing hard enough to tell her they’re hired and then kara takes her to lunch as an apology
15. Writing strengths?
girl honestly i don’t even know i’m winging it every single time
16. Writing weaknesses?
fucking TENSES. i tend to swap between them here and there and then it confuses the focus or the intimacy of the scene and sometimes it’s very difficult to tell how far of a lens the reader is supposed to be watching through and it’s just gggaghhhhhlgjddj one day i’ll learn to write in past tense i swear
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
i’ve not really found myself needing that very much but if i did run across a scenario where it was unavoidable i’d probably try to find a native speaker before i wrote anything of substance so as not to be deeply embarrassing lol
18. First fandom you wrote for?
does the teen titans script i handwrote in a notebook when i was 9 count
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
i have a soft spot for this one because i wrote it all in one manic go and it just poured out of me in a way that worked so well on the first try and it got really nice reception and it’s by far one of my proudest even though it’s but a short little thing :’)

2021 YEAR IN REVIEW: FANFIC WRITER EDITION
First, thanks to @cheesyficwriter, @be11atrixthestrange and @accio-broom for the tag. Even if I have -♾️ fics to answer this, I'll give it a try 😅
BEHIND THE NUMBERS:
words written: ~65000
words published (AO3): 60445
# of published one-shots: Including the drabbles, 4.
# of completed multi-chaps: 2-ish
# of fics in progress: none that is published, but 3-ish 👀
# of ongoing multi-chaps: 1, but if count the work I'm putting into translate Move On and A Beard Through Seasons, it would be a total of 3.
# of fic ideas waiting their turn: 3 (one have a few words on already)
longest work: That'll be Move On with 45182 words.
shortest work: I believe it's Game Night wit 1070 words.
most chapters in a fic: Move On (12)
highest # of kudos: A Beard Through Seasons (79)
highest # of hits: Move On (2666)
top 3 fics by kudos: A Beard Through Seasons (79), Move On (65) and Romione Drabbles (17)
top 3 fics by hits: Move On (2666), A Beard Through Seasons (1157), and Romione Drabbles (460)
most challenging fic to write: I'm still to get more experience in writing, but so fat it's got to be Move On. Though it's based in a movie, I decided to diverge from the plot because of some difficult topics that were taken to lightly in the film that I wanted to be more respectful about. This ended up giving me more than one headache lol.
fic that came easiest to write: Hands down, A Beard Through Seasons. I love that fic in all its short multi-chapterness.
most true-to-the-outline fic: A Beard Through Seasons because, well...beard.
most unlike-its-outline fic: Move On. It ended with 2 more chapters and I changed some bits along the way.
favorite reader freak-out: each and every comment from @vivithefolle in A Beard Through Seasons. What a way to put a BIG smile on my face. Just amazing.
Also all the things @reallybeth9 and @cheesyficwriter put on the docs of Move On as they betaed. They're are amazing ❤️❤️
most controversial scene: Not sure I have one, but if I have to choose, then the sperm switch in Move On.
hottest ask box topic of the year: What's an ask box? Nah, I know what it is, I just don't have one.
most loved OC: Don't have one yet. Hoping to get my own OC to love.
most hated OC: Same as before =C
favorite villain to write: woops...still no villain.
favorite character to write: Ron's beard (does it count? if not, then my beloved Ronnie).
most i’ve cried while writing a scene: I don't think I've cried writing yet. Here's to hope of getting there someday.
most i’ve laughed while writing a scene: Ironically, the sperm switch in Move On. I lauged much at that fic writing Ron's thoughts.
smuttiest smut scene: Still no smut...hope to write some this year.
favorite kiss i wrote: There's not much description of the kiss, but I love it. It's the kiss in chapter 4 of A Beard Through Seasons.
hardest trope/thing to write: I don't think I've wrote a trope...but hardest thing for me in general is describing places and spaces, as I'm not a native I usually lack the vocabulary ans spend many hours looking for the proper words.
easiest trope/thing to write: The easiest thing by far was Ronnie's beard. Not a trope, but a being on itself.
proudest fic moment: I'm very proud of the galaxy-space travel description of Ron's freckles in A Beard Through Seasons.
any fic regrets? Not yet, but then I have so little written so far. I'm bound to regrest something lol.
2021 fic habits to break: Lose so much time in unimportant details of the fic. I have a tendency to fixate on stuff that's not an addition to the fic. Like I lost many hours looking for flats layouts and drawing a map of the above WWW's shop for Move On...so much time.
2022 fic habits to make: Be more consistent on the writing. Though I know I have little time, I love this and it's a good release for stress, and I think I need to make a habit to write at least a certain amount of words (even if it's a small goal) to keep it flowing.
I don't think I know someone who hasn't been tagged 😬 I'm sorry if I'm re-tagging people woops...@dot-adsty, @reallybeth9 and @mertronus

If I Can’t Have You // part 1
woop woop back at it again with the multiple part imagines lol, but this song is just everything!
masterlist
Tumblr media
It has been an exciting night for Shawn, and it was obvious he wouldn’t be spending the evening alone. His closest friends all gathered up in his New York condo to celebrate the debut of his new single, If I Can’t Have You. It’s not a wild party, more like a friendly gathering with some drinks, food and laughter. He loves nights like this, surrounded by his best mates, making some memories while building his career in the same time. They waited together for the song to officially come out, counting down the last seconds as if it was New Year’s Eve, and then they all cheered to another hit song by him. Now he is sitting on the couch, listening to Brian sharing a story that happened a few years ago, his tattooed hand is gently gripping the neck of his beer bottle, a wide grin on his face. A round of laughter follows Brian’s story and Shawn chugs down the last few gulps of his drink, gets up and heads to the kitchen to get another one. It’s almost two am, but he doesn’t feel tired, he landed in New York two days ago and will be rehearsing for Saturday Nigh Live this week which is a thrilling thought to him. He is beyond excited to be back on that stage since his last appearance and it’s also going to be the first time he will perform the new song live.
“I told you the song will do well,” Teddy smiles at him sitting on the countertop. Shawn chuckles nodding his head as he grabs another beer and opens it using the edge of the counter, earning a surprised look from her on his bottle opening technique.
“Yeah, you are always right,” he smiles at her taking a sip from the drink and leaning against the counter next to her.
They both watch the group of people in the living room, now Andrew is telling a story probably about Brian, making the guy blush by his words. It’s for sure an embarrassing story, which is not hard to find about Brian, he has quite a lot to be honest. Shawn smiles at his friends taking another sip, but he can’t help but feel like something is missing.
Or someone.
He slides his phone out of his back pocket and as the screen lights up hundreds of notifications flood into his sight. Texts, comments, tags from all kind of apps, everyone wants to tell him how amazing the new song is, but as he scrolls down a bitter feeling crawls up his spine when he sees none from her.
“Will you ever tell me who this girl is?” Teddy questions, bringing Shawn’s attention back to reality.
“What girl?” Shawn asks, but the small smile on his lips tells it all and Teddy knows him better than to fall for his little lies.
“Do you really expect me to believe that there is no girl? Come on. I know that If I Can’t Have You is about the same girl you wrote Where Were You In The Morning about. I’m just curious who is this chick, turning you down and then managing to make you get all worked up about her.”
Teddy gives him a knowing look before taking a sip from her wine. Shawn can’t help but chuckle as he puts his phone down to the counter and crosses his arms on his chest.
“I heard that the less you talk about it the easier it’ll get, but it’s kind of not working for me.” A tired sigh leaves his lips as his gaze moves down to the floor.
“Well no shit, man. You’ve been writing songs about her for more than a year now!” She points out the obvious, making him smile nervously. “Do you still talk to her?” she then asks.
“Haven’t talked to her in a few weeks. I was hoping she would reach out after the song, but nothing so far.”
The last time they talked it got kind of awkward. It has always been Shawn who gave everything in, playing with open cards, flirting nonstop with her, but she is just different. She has always been so good at distancing herself from him just when he thought things would take a turn, but the worst part is that he can’t even blame her. She told him that she is not ready for it, not once, not twice, many times. This is why she disappeared the morning after they hooked up that night after meeting at a party. But Shawn just hasn’t been able to get her off of his mind, no matter how hard he tried and he is left with the songs written about her, most of them she might never even hear, but this one made it out to the world, but it still didn’t bring her back.
“Maybe she just hasn’t heard it. Not everyone stays up all night just to hear your songs,” Teddy tries to console him, putting an arm around his broad shoulders and she rests her head on his shoulder for a moment before hopping off of the counter.
“If it’s meant to be she’ll find her way back to you,” she adds before leaving him alone and joining the rest of the group in the living room.
Shawn takes a sip from his beer thinking about her words. How does he know it’s meant to be and that he should just wait? He can’t stick around forever and just wait for something that might never happen. It’s slowly consuming him, she is already always on his mind, it might get worse if he lets it go further.
Putting the beer down he grabs his phone and opens his texts. He scrolls past all the new ones not wanting to deal with them right now, until he finally finds her name and opens the conversation. The last text was sent by him two weeks ago and she left it on read. He reads back some of the messages before opening the keyboard and letting his fingers linger over it.
He wants to write something, but he doesn’t know what exactly. He is just aching to hear anything from her, it doesn’t have to be about the song, a simple text about her day would already make him the happiest man alive.
As he keeps debating suddenly a text appears on the screen, but he didn’t send anything, it’s from her.
“Back at it again with writing songs about me, Mendes?”
It’s short, it’s simple, it’s pretty witty and quirky, just like how he imagined her reaction.
He doesn’t want to miss the chance to talk to her so he responds hoping she still has her phone around her.
“Who told you it’s about you? You’re so full of yourself…”
For a moment he regrets sending it, afraid she might not get the playful tone of it, but when the respond arrives all his doubts vanish.
“Oh, so awkward. I almost asked if you would play it to me live, but I guess it’s not relevant anymore…”
“I could play it to you anyway. When do you wanna hear it?”
“Are you free tomorrow?”
Shawn quickly thinks through how his schedule for the next day and texts her back.
“My place at 8?”
“See you there.”

giyushino week wrap up!
aaaaand that’s a wrap!! thank you to the moderators of giyushinoweek, and to everyone who liked/reblogged/commented on/sent me asks about my fics!!
it was a wild ride to write 8 fics in basically a week or so; i keep saying the fics were hastily or frantically written but LMAO considering how little fic i put out nowadays and how long it usually takes me to write because i edit as i go (which means i take f o r e v e r ), i was seriously just screaming like I JUST GOTTA DO IT I JUST GOTTA GO WITH IT I DON’T HAVE TIME the entire time haha. it was really good to be able to just think of a thing and run as far as i could with it, though!! it’s been quite a long time since i was able to do that, and it was really nice to have a project to work on in the back of my head. <3
ideally, if i work myself up to it, i’d like to revisit all of these and spruce them up to post to ao3, but we’ll see. :’)
under the cut is just some thoughts on my process during this and also writing each of the fics, if you’re interested! favorite prompt, the most difficult parts to write, what the fic was originally was, things like that.
thank you again, everyone!! back to hibernation and occasional slow snail pace writing i go, haha.
.
.
.
re: writing process -i tried writing a fic per day during the week before the actual event, which...kind of worked!! ideally, i was going to write a mostly complete fic each day, and then spend the week of the event editing each one before i posted it. what really ended up happening was that i partially wrote several, but not all of them, during the previous week, and then spent the week of finishing up, editing, or writing the whole thing more or less the day before the prompt was “due”, LMFAO. my weekday schedule is pretty structured because of work--I have maybe an hour or two of free time before i have to sleep--so i doubled down a bit more on the weekends. i know like it wasn’t imperative that i meet the “deadline”, but i really, really wanted to!! i figured i’ve written a fic per day for fandom weeks before so why can’t i do it again, but BOY i don’t know who i was back then. i mean, i still did it (yay!) but it seemed so much easier then?? either i was just writing more back then or less afraid or...something, or it’s just been so long that i don’t remember what i felt, LOL.
-i was really quite nervous in the beginning to post the fics, since again, they’re pretty hastily written and my usual writing process is much more “careful” and drawn out. but, it was also freeing as the week went on to just post and not worry, because the point of the week was to have fun, and not necessarily to write the best work i expected of myself within a limited time. (oh, how the perfectionist in me still hisses, though.) still, i’m glad people liked them, and even the extra notes that i just kinda spit out for some of them. :’) i do wish that some had gotten more attention than others, but those ones don’t show up in the tags and i’m not sure why, so. alas.
re: the fics -confession: as of now, i feel pretty neutral about all of them, since i wrote them in a frenzy. at some point i’ll probably go back and read them and feel differently (and catch my mistakes! oh no!), haha. -a lot of them ended up being AU, which is...??? unexpected?? but i think it was just easier to put them in an entirely different setting, so i could play a bit more loose with their characters, haha.
day 1 - glance (or hug) -this one...im pretty sure was one of the ones i waited until the last possible minute to finish up. it’s pretty basic event-wise, one of the few more regular slice-of-lifey ones for the week. it was surprisingly hard to get down the “movement” of it all; a glance is hard to describe in detail and in any other way, but i had really wanted to create kind of this...fleeting, almost nostalgic atmosphere in the back and forth of “he keeps looking, she keeps missing”, if that makes any sense. oof, it’s still hard to describe what i had wanted to achieve even outside of the fic!!
day 2 - soulmate (or family) -this one was SUPER HARD to write!!! originally i had wanted to go with a “A sees flashes of what B sees” soulmate prompt, because i figured that would be SO disorienting and would be fun to play with. but i ended up not being able to run with that one. i had also wanted to do the “soulmates write on themselves and the words show up on the other’s arm” idea, based off of what i had started in a 100 word drabble i did, but that deserved wayyyyyy more exploration and angst i was able to write in the time i’d allotted. i do like the “tattoo” soulmate aus the best, i think, and i did want to explore the one i did more, buuuut. alas. soulmates aus are something i prefer to read rather than write, i think, they can get so complicated!!
day 3 - AU (or touch) -i’ve already made enough notes on this haha, but this ended up being a little too ambitious!! it wasn’t originally supposed to stop where it did, but i just...kinda got stuck and couldn’t bring myself to continue it, because i knew it would just keep going and needed more thinking out. so i just stopped it at the scene break, and hoped it would be decent enough. :’) surprisingly people seemed to enjoy this one most of all????? or maybe it was just the au itself that was a appealing, haha. regardless, i was surprised at the amount of notes this got!
day 4 - demon & wedding -soooooo this might’ve been my favorite prompt LMAO, like when i realized what i wanted to do for this day, i got excited because like, oooh yeah, pain. definitely wanted to go in on this to flesh out and explore various aspects more than i did, but i think of all the ones i wrote, i might be the most pleased with this one so far.
day 5 - moon (or angst) -honestly, it’s a surprise i didn’t choose angst for day 5. writing about shinobu’s death would’ve been so easy, but i’ve seriously been putting it off since i started writing for kimetsu no yaiba. both “a blade of honey” and “if not cut at dusk”, which are my longer fics, were intended to be about shinobu’s death scene and turned into something completely different, and i ended up avoiding it for day 5 even though it could’ve been so easy. it’s denial, probably! anyway, shinobu’s MAD BOLD here. she would never. maybe. there’s two shinobus that i think about--the "usual” one, modeling herself after kanae, and one who’s more in line with her younger self/inner feelings. i think i went with the latter for a lot of these fics, because i didn’t have to be as careful with dialogue. giyu might’ve suffered character-wise, though, woops. but again, maybe shinobu would, in the vein that she wants to win and have the last laugh, haha. still, i feel more like she wouldn’t. :P oh, also, do you remember ages ago, when AMVs were still widespread, that scene that was everywhere in naruto where hinata’s bathing/training at the waterfall and it’s like really pretty and cool and stuff? yeah. that’s what i wanted this one to be, a little, LMFAO. genuinely surprised that people thought this one was pretty spicy!!
day 6 - kiss (or ocean) -confession: i wrote all of this while i was at work LOLLLL. it was a slow day, i promise. this might’ve been the easiest one to come up with, because the “quick, kiss me!” to escape situation is a classic. the characterization is preeeetttyyyyy loose here, but it was also kind of fun, honestly. my day 5 and day 6 run in pretty similar veins though, so i had kind of wished the endings were a bit more distinct from each other.
day 7 - date (or crossover) -honestly i had wanted to do like, a soul eater crossover!! really i was planning out an au, but i think a crossover specifically has characters of two series interacting, and then i was Tired and was like, i can’t do that. crossovers aren’t something i usually read, either, so the planning got too complicated and i gave  up. the date idea was also one that came much later and one that i finished up last minute; i’d wanted to make it a little more cohesive and come up with better things for sabito’s list, but. eh. it got longer than i expected too! ideally there would’ve been more of the college life, and sabito and makomo. i thought about doing another additional notes for this, but there was wasn’t enough i had wanted to add on. really it was just the majors for them i’d been playing with--shinobu as a med student (possibly a minor in horticulture/botany, SOMEHOW), sabito & giyu as hydraulic engineering majors (sabito more on fieldwork, giyu more on research), and makomo as a marine veterinary student. shrug!! the lines of “you do realize we were set up, right” and “this was a date, tomioka-san” were the highlight for me, haha. and i’m inordinately fond of the title.
day 8 - halloween (or n*sfw) -sexy stuff isn’t my forte at all!!!! so halloween it was, but. i was thinking of skipping out on this one, and then was like, oh what the hell, you’ve come this far, of course you’re going to go the last leg, too. already wrote enough notes on this one too, but yeah, this one really was quick, and just barely meets the prompt, i think, lmao. ended up being more of a fantasy au, which was fun, though there was a lot left unexplored. ultimately just glad that i was able to come up with something for the last stretch. :)
please feel free to drop me an ask if you have any thoughts or comments! i’d love to hear your thoughts on the fics for the week, if you’d like to share. :)
thanks for reading!!

more under the cut!
Ship/character breakdown: i didnt filter out my prompt collection or abandoned wips here so /shrug Ship breakdown:
klance - 6 sheith - 5 shance - 5 katt - 4 heith - 3 pallura - 2 and one each of plance, kallura, allurance, shatt, shkatt, kidge, kidgance, and shunk. and keiths parents lol. let it never be said i am not a multishipper.
and i know gen isnt a ship but it tied with klance at 6 (plus whatevers in the prompt collection) which was a surprise
Character breakdown: man if theres a way to get ao3 to show me ALL the stats, i dont know it. but.
keith - 25 (shocker) shiro - 23 lance - 21 pidge - 17 hunk - 16 allura - 12 matt - 12 and then coran and sam are at 4, and zarkon ats 3 and presumably many others are at 3 or less
Characters that had the main focus: well ~9 were from keiths pov, and ~5 each from shiro and lances povs. i think i also had ~5 from multiple points of view. its safe to say that keith has my heart tho lol
Specifics:
Best/worst title? Best title: i still like “at the end of many worlds.” i weirdly still like “Blackbird” too even if it has nothing to do with anything... Worst title: “Rest.” :/ also like all of the abandoned wips bc i didnt care. and “Keith & Lance's Island Adventure.″ some of my zine fic titles were also... bad. im bad at titles.
Best/worst first line?
Best: Keith & Lance's Island Adventure. ok the title is bad but this line? this really sets the tone for whole fic. you know what youre getting yourself into here.
When Pidge invited Keith to a fully-funded graduation party aboard the Holt family boat (“the smaller one, anyway,” she’d said), this is not exactly what he'd pictured: three of them standing on a wobbly dock, packed bags at their feet, sky cloudy and gray, while the Holt siblings stand on a little ledge off the back of the boat and deny entry.
Worst: ive got two for this lol
at the end of many worlds: even i have to read this a couple times to figure out what i was trying to say. at least you know youre in for pain...
Keith’s mother shows up to interrupt movie night often enough that, this time, Keith almost doesn’t realize anything’s wrong. Almost, because she’s silhouetted by the movie, but she’s clutching her arm and panting for breath, and in the thin edge of light around her he sees a wet and vibrant red.
Divergence: because all your friends being dead is EXACTLY like losing at dodgeball. yeah, theres a reason i abandoned this one.
Hunk always hated playing dodgeball. Not because he was bad at it--though he was--but because he always ended up the last one standing, and therefore the only target for the entire other team. It was due to a tendency to hang unnoticed in the back, he knew, but that didn't change the sickening, empty feeling of looking around and realizing there's no one left but him, and there's no way he can win. Only wait for the inevitable.
This, Hunk decides, is a lot like that, only, like, a billion times worse.
Best/worst last line?
Best: The Pining-Plant. there are a few others that were cute too but this one is also good out of context so
And then the pod swishes open and he's scrambling to catch Pidge as she stumbles out. She clings to his arms to steady herself and his heart swells.
"Falling for me again, huh?" he asks, and she groans loudly.
"Let me go, I'm getting back in the pod," she says, and he laughs. He doesn't let go, and neither does she.
Worst: if im bad at titles, im worse at endings. most are bad. i suspect the ending to “Rest” is terrible but i cant bring myself to even open that shit again so: Believe Me. if weather were a recurring theme in this fic, itd be fine, but as is its just... a weird note to end the fic on lmao
Hunk rocks back on his heels. "We aren't counting this as our official first date, right?"
"I dunno," Keith says, and now he smiles at the rain instead of frowning. It shows no sign of easing up, but whatever—they're soaked anyway. "This seems pretty good to me."
“...All right.” If nothing else, it’ll make a good story. And, Hunk had to admit—he’s pretty happy with how it’s turned out, rain and all.
But next time, he's double-checking the forecast, just in case.
General questions:
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
more than i expected! considering ive been in grad school all year!! i wrote about the same amount wordcount-wise in 2017 which i spent only half in school so. idk how i managed it.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?
the anonymous fic was a surprise but im not gonna talk about that lol. otherwise... nah, its all been my usual stuff.
What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
blackbird, probably. i like working on that one. summer heat was also fun, id sort of forgotten about it bc it was a zine fic but coming back to it, i really liked it. likewise with third time’s the charm. and i like t6p a lot even if i kinda hate drawing for it :’)
Okay, NOW your most popular story.
depends on your metric. window of opportunity has the most kudos, keith and lance’s island adventure has the most hits, and t6p has the most comments and subscriptions.
Story most underappreciated by the universe?
AT THE END OF MANY WORLDS. oh man i killed myself over that fic. it was important to me. but i think the mcd scared everyone off :’)
Story that could have been better?
i realize “all of them” is kind of a cop out answer but like
Sexiest story?
i have written nothing sexy, ever, in my whole life
Saddest story?
i mean, ateomw. considering all the death. blackbird def has its moments too.
Most fun?
i feel like i answered this in the favorite story q lmao. you’re my home also gets a shoutout, that thing was,, super self-indulgent lmao. and id be lying if i said i didnt have fun with parts of ateomw, even if its mostly sad.
Story with single sweetest moment?
man i write a lot of fluff but so much of you’re my home is just tooth-rotting. heres part of the proposal scene lmao
"Lance!" Keith yelps, barely rescuing the ring from falling into the sand with them. Lance pushes himself up on his arms, silhouetted by the sun and glowing with it.
"Really?" he asks breathlessly.
"Yeah," Keith says, and maybe he should've prepared something to say, that's a thing people do, right? Hell, he's winging it. "I know we can't stay here on Earth forever, 'cause we're paladins, and there's still stuff out there we gotta do. And I know you probably want to stay because this is your home—but you're my home, and if we gotta go, at least you'll have me, good or bad." He grins crookedly. "Or rocket science. Whatever happens, I'll be there."
Hardest story to write?
well t6p gets a shoutout, but its not the writing thats the hard part for that. uhhh ive struggled with parts of blackbird. i remember k&l’s island adventure giving me a LOT of trouble, i think i posted late lol
Easiest/most fun story to write?
anything short uhhh for all the infinite realities, i kind of just sat down the other day (actually i was in bed but) and was like “im gonna write this” and then in the morning i just sat down and wrote it in one go. i dunno if id call it fun, but it was easy. t6p is super fun to write but, as mentioned, drawing it sucks.
Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?
no... my perceptions probably have shifted but not due to anything i wrote in particular. i did talk myself into liking allurance with a prompt fill, though, but im not sure that was 2018...
Most overdue story?
all the infinite realities lmao. at the end of many worlds needed that happy ending. and another shoutout to t6p, because thats been going on over a year and im still nowhere.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
does posting my abandoned wips count? ive still got some of those hanging around... blackbird was a bit of a risk bc my last longfic was written while i was unemployed and out of school, so like i had the time for it, and now i kinda dont. still chugging tho. ateomw b/c of all the death but it turns out i really like writing whump woops. and writing any sort of kissing always feels like a risk bc i suck at it but im getting better lol... i hope...
What are your fic writing goals for next year?
write more! finish things! do more sheith! i really want to work on this sheith longfic i came up with the other day... but i want to get blackbird over with first.
Tagging: eh! do it if you want to!

Ask the Admins 9.0
anon asked: So was AtA skipped on purpose or accident?
HA (by accident but don’t tell anyone).
anon asked: Is ask the admins replacing the quotes for today?
We will be doing all the things today - hold tight for some quotes later!
anon asked: Before I forget, are you going to change the MASTERLIST OF TAGS to have the assistant admins on there too (since you have yourselves and the previous admins)?
Yup! We’re still in the process of updating the blog to accommodate for the additional admins. We’re hoping to be finished in the next week or so.
anon asked: Don't watch "A Dog's Purpose"!! Unless you're okay with a terrified dog being forced/pushed into rushing water just to film a scene when a CGI would have sufficed.
Chamomile: eyerooooooll
M: God dangit.
Syren: Yooo I saw that video! I actually discussed it in a round at my last speech meet. It's sick, they won't be getting my support.
Jynn: See: Admin Chamomiles response. In any case I am too Tired(TM) to get into all that and too broke to see any movie in theaters anyways.
Vox: Man, I know I trusted Rotten Tomatoes for a reason.
anon asked: I recently started a fandom specific prompt blog and I have no idea how to get it out there?? I'm tagging all the posts but I don't think anyone's seen them. XD what do I do? Thanks in advance!
Chamomile: okay so what you need to do is get a really popular post to blow up, then let people find the blog. It takes a lot of grinding and luck, but don’t give up!
M: Yup that happened with us here; we had a couple posts that got wildly popular, and people have been finding the blog ever since (namely that one Never Book quote everyone loves so much). Some advice I’d give is to be consistent, be involved in the writing community, and don’t give up - this stuff takes a chunk out of your life, but we love helping you all out!
anon asked: WOULD YOU RATHER: get paid a penny to talk about what you're thinking of, or pay two pennies to say your opinions? -- penny for your thoughts vs put my two cents in
Chamomile: I’ll take the single penny.
M: I’ll be the person who listens to two people then gives those people their pennies back so I can tell them what I think of their thoughts. Poor man’s capitalism.
Syren: I'd probs just say what I want to say, no money involved. Unless they needed it.
Jynn: One cent, I need the cash.
Vox: As a business major I need to say penny for your thoughts. (As resident busybody and IRL mom friend….)
anon asked: Which would you (admins and assistants) rather be? A king/queen, lord/lady, duke/duchess, emperor/empress, or pharaoh?
Chamomile: I answered this in another ask and said I wanted to be a Queen but...make me a Lord instead.
M: I’d be good with anything, but I feel like being the legitimate King would be far too much pressure - I’m going to go with Prince, Duke, or Lord.
Syren: Make me an empress, I'll be the coolest one since Kuzco.
Jynn: Hmmm whichever one has the lowest responsibility to money ratio. I have zero experience doing any of those things but I like being rich.
Vox: I’d say pharaoh, but like... old timey era sort of pharaoh. 10/10 would gladly deal with Egyptian heat to lazily lounge around while half-naked people cater to my whims.
anon asked: PlayStation or XBox?
Chamomile: XBOX
M: I gotta say Playstation only because I grew up with a Playstation 2, not an Xbox :b
Syren: Xbox, cause I've never played a PS woops
Jynn: I don’t play video games but I wouldn’t pass up a good ol PS2.
Vox: PS all the way.
anon asked: reason(s) for chosen usenames? (e.g. is it your favorite type of tea? is it your favorite letter?)
Chamomile: It’s a super cryptic homestuck reference that literally 0.2% of the fans would recognize.
M: Lol my name is Em y’all
Syren: My real name is Camryn, and I think Syren sounds like Siren- one of my favorite mythical creatures
Jynn: It’s part of my regular screen name which is JynniSlorg. A mishmash of stuff I can’t even remember but that must have made some semblance of sense back when I was 14.
Vox:  It’s when you typerventilate but with a latin twist. Even though ‘vox’ technically means voice. Typervoxilations sounds a lot cooler than typerecfuntilations. (Especially when you’re immature and read things quickly like me and typerecfuntilations starts to look like ‘erectile dysfunction’).
anon asked: Do yo know where this is from: "Rabbits die of loneliness, you know!" [This quotes means a lot to me]
Chamomile: No idea, but I have an unknown quote too! “Rain on a sunny day means a fox’s wedding”.
M: It reminds me of the Velveteen Rabbit, but I’m not really sure!
Syren: My first guess would be ‘Of Mice and Men’ by Steinbeck, but I don't think that's how the quote in that book goes…
Jynn: No but it’s probably either classic literature or anime.
Vox: When I see ‘rabbits’ I automatically think Zootopia, but I’ve never seen so I have no clue!
anon asked: Hey, if we start trying to ship the aa with the admins, can we call M and Vox "Pixilation"?
M: Pftttt for sure - the more ships, the merrier!
Vox: (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ WHAT A CUTE SHIP NAME, I’M HONORED FRIEND.
anon asked: Without looking it up, do you know what this is from?: "I'm a bad dream. I'm a rad scene. I'm a tad mean. But I'm not afraid to take you out."
Chamomile: Is this a Franz Ferdinanz song?
M: Eyyyyyy that’s RWBY - found it on YouTube a while ago and I was pleasantly surprised
Syren: No clue. And I think Chamomile’s thinking of the song ‘Take *Me* Out’ ;)
Jynn: RWBY right? I’m p sure it’s a Jeff Williams song.
Vox: Nope! (❁´◡`❁)
anon asked: Have you ever written a character with a physical disability? If yes, what was the hardest thing about writing the character?
Chamomile: Yep! Prosthetics, wheelchairs, and canes on multiple occasions. Hearing aids a handful of times, and a whole lot of glasses. I guess the hardest thing is just adjusting to a new character’s quirks? Changing how a character gestures and responds to other characters.
M: Yes I have, and it was difficult to do, but I wrote about someone I know who has cerebral palsy, and because I know them so well, I understand their daily struggle and can write about it fairly well. I think the most difficult part was acknowledging that I don’t really know everything about the disability and had to do a lot of research before taking it from their point of view.
Syren: I'm actually writing a character right now that has Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia, cause I have them and never hear about anyone else having them (even though they're kinda common), so I thought it'd be interesting! Hardest thing is probably fitting my symptoms into another person.
Jynn: Yep! I don’t know if I’d say hardest but I always try to do a lot of research into how certain things will affect the small everyday parts of life. My brother and his friends have really helped me become better at that since they’re most all amputees and I have quite a few amputee characters. It’s just v important to look at real life people to see the details people could miss about how certain things affect people's lives.
Vox: Of course! I wrote for Bucky Barnes once, and to be fair, the work was more focused on the mental more than the physical, but there was a fair amount of how much of what Hydra did to him (especially the metal bits), and I had a character once who was completely blind. The hardest part of writing it was the fact that I’ve never been in the shoes of either but I have to find a way to, especially with the kind of writing I do.
anon asked: Do you have any AU’s that you’ve always wanted to post but never have?
Chamomile: Sooooo many. I wanted to do an AU where Character A is an immortal who has to “trade” a part of themself every time they come back to life (ex: in one regeneration they don’t have their right arm, in another regeneration they have both arms but no voice, etc.)
M: I have a lot of 3 a.m. AU’s that never actually make it into the drafts and just sit in my notes for a while - one of the more infamous ones that has been in the drafts for months now is the truffle mushroom one. I’ll say no more.
Syren: I haven't given up on any of my au ideas yet, but I've definitely got quite the list of one's to write.
Jynn: Hmmm I don’t have any in mind that I don’t plan to post in the future.
Vox: See: AA C-Ryn. Every now and then I go back to tweak em but eventually, they’ll be beautiful potatoes I can dig out of my google docs and present to the world.
